Don’t let consumerism trick you
Let’s talk about ingredients and how brands use marketing and bought reviews as a way to make you think their products is all you need. Sure you will probably get some “improvement” at first, but are they really long term? Let’s see! 👀 Ingredients that are comedogenic*: - Coconut oil. Seriously I looooove it! But thread carefully. Is it anti microbial? Yaaasss!!! Is it conditioning? Yaaasss!!! Is it great for your skin? Well, yes and no! Fractionated coconut contrary to popular belief is non-comedogenic making it safe to use, even for acne-prone skin. Noooow... Caprylic/capric triglyceride used in many body, hair & SKIN care products is not something you want to have in your skincare products. (It also depends how high up the ingredient is as it’s really commonly used) - Dimethicone. Usually considered safe as the molecules are too big to be absorbed anyways. So whatever you’re using that has dimethicone and is not your last step, even then is bad(topic for another day, *ahem*), it’s not really beneficial for other serums or treatments since it’s blocking their entrance to your skin. Also, dimethicone tends to accumulate over time, since it’s not water soluble. So break it up with oil before using you skin cleanser in order to get actual benefits from your other skin caring products. - Stearic acid. Comedogenic level of 2-3 out of 5. It is said to be a good cleanser and skin barrier protector... BUT people with sensitive/acne-prone skin deserve way better ingredients for their skin. For other skin types stearic acid derived from cocoa butter and shea butter, are exceptions since the stearic acid content (as a triglyceride) is 28–45%. SPA IN A BOTTLE YOUTHFUL GLOW SERUM: This serum is AMAZING for acne scars and dark spots. It’s more like an oil than a serum but it’s great for oily skin as well. The only problem is that this is only available in Pakistan since spa in a bottle is a Pakistani brand but if you can get it it’s AMAZING!!!!
Today I want to quickly share my thoughts on this skin kissed Facial Serum. I have been using it on and off, the forgot about it (don’t store your vit C serums on your fridge door, make sure it’s in your sight 🤭 Notable ingredients are: Ascorbic Acid, Rose Water, HA & Marine Collagen Fish. I am not a fan of HA, because in certain combinations I feel like it blocks my pores and I really dislike the stickiness. The texture of this serum is watery/slightly tacky, not too sticky tho. It claims to smooth and brighten the skin, as well improving the skin’s elasticity. From my experience, I can’t say I have seen major improvements in terms of brightness, but it did not break me out & I did feel it gave some sort of radiance and glow. I am half way through now and the liquid it’s turning slightly yellow. Tingles a bit, but it does not bother me at all. Overall, it’s a decent serum for glow and radiance. .

Do you have a bedtime skin regiment? I’m still comprehending the importance. Indie skincare has come swooping in to the rescue as I continue to navigate this journey towards long term goals of health in beauty! Stratia is a brand that prides itself in its dedication to science! Founder Alli Reed is an amazingly dedicated woman. Sounds research is the foundation on which her brand stand. The website provides in-depth info of each product and all its components, so you can trust Stratia because it’s all out there—nothing is hidden! Let’s get back to blackheads: sometimes dead skin and oil gets trapped and clogs up pores. If it seeps deep into a hair follicle, tiny dots, perhaps across your nose, result. Unfortunately, they aren’t cute like the freckles I’m envious for! This silky serum surprisingly gently exfoliates as camomile soothes redness and relieves irritation and the AHAs (Alpha hydroxy acids) melt the gunk that sticks dead cells to the skin’s surface! So essentially, this product is knocking out two common skin needs: redness and blackheads (at least at the surface level!) This product in would rate 5/5! I like how it wasn’t greasy or sticky and dried effortlessly into my skin, working hard as I snoozed!
It’s about time I write about this Brightening Essence from TMYS! I’ve been using this for the past few months and I’ll be honest I stopped at the beginning because I thought it was giving me small bumps but now it doesn’t so I use it every morning and it’s been helping me with my pimple marks! I find the finish a bit tacky so I try to use a little only and I’d apply a bit more to spots where there are marks. I’d wait for it to dry before I proceed to the next step which is usually the sunscreen. No breakouts just small bumps, I guess it’s just how my skin reacts to Vitamin C before because it also happened with my Cosrx. My skin looked healthier and brighter with this essence! It has pure Vitamin c and Vitamin B3 and Hyaluronic Acid. There are some ingredients that are mostly essential oils to watch out for if you have sensitive skin and these are Rosemary Leaf Oil, Orange Oil, Cedarwood, and Tangerine. 🍊 The scent reminds me of an ointment that my mom had which heals sore muscles and such. It’s actually soothing and it smells good in my opinion. It can be a bit too much for people with sensitive smell. I also find salt-like beads in the essence when I apply it. Overall, this essence definitely made me smile!
Guess what! I have 4 new serums from mellownaturals to try!! I’m just finishing some bottles I have here before I proceed with these because I don’t want to waste any products. 😌 I’ll probably start with the Vitamin C serum first because I’m about to finish my TMYS serum. But it really depends! I’m really drawn to the hydration drops among four 💦 〰️ 💛 Hydration Drops This has Argan, Rosehip and Strawberry Oil and I haven’t really tried anything strawberry so that gets me excited! This claims to restore vitality and nourish the skin. 〰️ 💛 Botanical Concentrated Face Serum Brightening and pore minimising serum that contains coconut oil and multiple local botanical plants from Thailand. I hope this helps my pores! 💕 〰️ 💛 Clarifying Face Serum This focuses on acne and oil production with pine and sophora root which has antibacterial properties that can minimise breakouts. 〰️ 💛 Vit C Natural Glow Face Serum Rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin C-derivative for a radiant and natural glow. It also has essential oils, extracts of nutrients and as well as vitamins and minerals. I’m not too excited about the essential oils but let’s see how it goes.
Ample N peptide shot ampoule - Combines patented peptides and active ingredients in ideal proportions, recalling forgotten skin elasticity. The serum is quickly absorbed into the skin and immediately feels suppler, nourished and radiant. Main Ingredients: Niacinamide is applied to the skin for treating eczema and inflammatory acne vulgaris), adenosine (Yeast-derived ingredient that functions as a good soothing and skin-restoring agent.), panthenol (used in cosmetics and beauty products primarily as a lubricant, emollient and moisturizer), pearl extract (The extract of freshwater pearl is used to give skin an instant youthful, glow. Some studies have also shown that pearl extract may reduce skin discoloration and redness), peptide 10050 ppb (It contains 3 peptides which have the ability to penetrate the top layer of skin and communicate with our cells telling them what to do!) Ok – enough of the scientific stuff. This is certainly one of the cooler products I have received as you can see the peptides (yes, they look like worms), but they absorb right in! It does leave a slight tackiness after using that dissipates with moisturizer. I use as a serum in my routine after toner and before moisturizer. If you are scent sensitive this is not for you as it had a strong floral scent. It also contains alcohol which bummed me out because I try to avoid that in a skincare product. So I’m on the fence with this one. I’ll use it up though to see if it makes a difference in any way. I will update this post down the line if I end up repurchasing. I believe it is under $20 as I saw it on eBay.
