New Year, New Hair 💇🏻♀️
Happy New Year!!! I spent 2020 focusing on enhancing my skincare routine to figure out the products I needed to use to clear, enhance, heal, soften, and glow and I’m now spending 2021 focusing on establishing a hair routine! I love the feeling and look of hydrated, smooth, shiny, voluminous, and weightless hair after a haircut and I’ve found some products that help me replicate that look! R+Co - One Prep Spray — Following shampoo and conditioner, this is my first step before any other product. I towel dry my hair and spray One evenly through brushed hair and run my fingers through my hair to make sure the product evenly coats my hair. It’s weightless, has a nice scent that’s not overbearing, preps, and provides incredible moisture. Since I’ve started using this before using my blow dryer/air drying, I’ve noticed that my hair is shinier and softer. As a person with fine hair, products like this mist are great because they aren’t greasy or heavy. VERB - Ghost Oil — After getting my hair cut in early November, my stylist suggested using an oil to prevent split ends and the light I have frizz and the Ghost oil has been a great choice for my fine hair. After using the One Prep Spray, I apply a small drop of Ghost Oil to my hands, rub it together, and then apply it on the last two inches or so of my medium length hair, and then blow dry (I only use Ghost when I blow dry my hair). Since my hair is oily at the roots, I make sure that I don’t apply it everywhere. This hair oil is incredibly light and a little bit goes a very long way, the amount I use is about the size of half a popcorn kernel. Ghost has a faint grapefruit scent, isn’t thick, tames frizz, creates a great shine, and prevents split ends. What hair products are you trying out this new year?
As a redhead, I’ve always taken great pride in my hair. However, it wasn’t till quarantine that I actually started taking care of it. I have 2B hair that is prone to frizz, I used to use drug store brands and would wash my hair daily due to my vigorous workout routine. I started washing it every other day, and while that helped, it wasn’t until I found new products and a new routine that I can actually say I’m happy with my hair. Here is my entire routine! Wash day: Shampoo and condition: Redken All Soft - it is hard to go wrong with this shampoo and conditioner, good for all hair types Post shower: I start by combing through a pump of jojoba oil thru the bottoms 3/4 of my hair with my fingers then I use IGK - Good Behavior 4-in-1 Prep Spray (my miracle product, ideal for blow outs, but still helpful when air drying) next IGK - Thirsty Girl Coconut Milk Anti-Frizz Leave-in Conditioner (a must leave in conditioner for my curly friends) and then I finish with VERB - Ghost Oil on my ends Once a week instead I use: IGK - First Class Detoxifying Charcoal Shampoo to help with product build up and VERB - Ghost Hair Mask to help with softness. These products work great! Thanks to the charcoal shampoo, an oily saturated scalp is a thing of the past. And the ghost mask smells of lovely sandalwood and my hair is so smooth after, it’s mesmerizing. Non-shampoo days: If I have a light workout I normally just use IGK - First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo before and after my workout. Best dry shampoo I have ever used. The charcoal really helps with the sweat. Now if I did my typical 5 mile run and weights, I need something a little more powerful to help me out. I start by using IGK - First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo prior to working out, this helps to absorb the oil as you workout. After my workout, I rinse in the shower with IGK - Smoke & Mirrors this is the next best thing to shampooing! My hair feels clean afterwards, however, it doesn’t strip your hair and dry it out. I follow with my normal post shower routine, however I skip the jojoba oil. I also started adding a scoop of collagen powder to my first cup of coffee. I mainly started using it because at 23, I’ve already been running nearly every day for 9 years 😅 so my joints need all the help they can get; however, I think it’s helped in making my hair stronger. My hairdresser noticed an extreme difference in my hair, which was all the confirmation I needed to continue on this pursuit.

Blow-Drying At Home: High Volume + Low Frizz
My thick yet fine hair naturally straddles the 2A/2B line, depending on a variety of factors: humidity level, days since last shampoo, products used, etc. But I love using the *amika: - Hair Blow Dryer Brush to add volume and tame my waves without straightening them, eliminating frizz and adding shine. I typically only heat-style on special occasions or when extending time between washes- here’s my no-wash day polished routine! 1. Separate: I separate my hair into three sections with a wide-tooth comb: crown, middle, nape. Crown is pulled into a small ponytail, then middle joins it using a clip. 2. Protect: Apply *amika: - Blockade Heat Protectant Serum liberally to the current layer- I run my fingers through the layer to help it soak in. 3. Prep: Spritz roots with amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray xxxx 4. Style: Starting at the roots, I gently and slowly slide the brush, moving down that section of hair vertically. Repeat throughout the current layer until hair is to desired dryness. 5. Re-Section: I’m kind of Type A about things so I tie up the current layer of separated hair before letting down the next layer. It also helps keep from over-drying my hair and causing frizz! Repeat Steps 4-5 Until Hair Is Dry 6. Extra Moisture: Before my hair fully cools, I rub another pump of *amika: - Blockade Heat Protectant Serum between the tips of my fingers and focus on moisturizing/protecting the ends of my hair. I’ve noticed this helps my hair look more polished and extend the life of the hairstyle as far as frizz is concerned! 7. Smooth: Once my hair has cooled and the serum has soaked in, I finish everything off with a few sprays of *amika: - Silken Up Dry Conditioner and a thorough fluffing with my hands! I love how shiny and soft my hair is, perfectly smooth despite the serious volume and movement offered by the styler 💕 * PR Sample #CheriePartner
Day-to-Day Heat-Free Hair
I’ve been growing out my hair, so I especially don’t like using heat often- even with heat protection, I worry about long-term damage to my ends that will be noticeable for a while as I aim for waist-length tresses. So, here’s how I keep my hair frizz-free on my usual days where I’ll be hanging out inside, hitting the gym, and running errands! • *amika: - Vault Volor-Lock Leave-In Conditioner is like if detangler and a leave-in softening treatment had a baby. It doesn’t weigh down my hair but helps to keep my hair soft and touchable as it air-dries... plus makes combing much less of an annoyance despite the thickness of my hair! • *amika: - Silken Up Dry Conditioner is amazing even on days I’ve washed. Air-drying can leave my wavy hair a bit untamed and fluffy, so brushing after applying Silken Up keeps my hair frizz-free and silky, like a less drying version of hair spray! • *amika: - Blockade Heat Protectant Serum probably makes less sense on an air-dry day but I’ve fallen in love with it for how it tames split ends and increases shine when I take a very small amount over my hair with my palms. I use this throughout the day as well, particularly after a windy car ride, to scrunch my hair with my hands without creating a frizzy mess. #CheriePartner *PR Sample

Empty hair favorites
I have fine hair that is easily weighed down by leave in treatments. It’s hard to find good products that help keep my hair looking healthy and create body. I have a short, textured bob style OUAI - Texturizing Hair Spray I love all of Ouai products that I’ve tried. This is a great spray that I add once my hair is styled to give me amazing body and some definition I desire. I typically like to wash my hair only 1-2 times a week and this is a product that doesn’t dry or damage my hair if left in for several days. MOROCCANOIL - Treatment Light I’m a HUGE fan of this oil because once again, it’s so very difficult for me to find any products that don’t weigh my hair down. I always used BioSilk or It’s A Ten but both were more of an overnight treatment than an everyday option. Then I received a sample of the MoreoccanOil and haven’t used anything else since. I decided to purchase the light as the original is ok for me but the light just is the best option. All I need is a dime size and my hair has a beautiful, healthy shine. Living proof. - Color Care Whipped Glaze I’m a fan of Living Proof so when I saw a mini of this Whipped Glaze with the color care shampoo/conditioner I decided to give it a shot. It’s a whipped glaze that deposits temporary dyes to instantly boost vibrancy and counteract color fading and brassiness. You add it to your hair once it is clean and towel dried, working from roots to end. My hair is the bright blood you see. I can get just a tad yellow and like to add a toner to counteract. I’ve tried several but haven’t had much luck with them. My stylist, who is a renowned blonde specialist (Chrissy Rassmusen @hairbychrissy) says the wrong toners can actually give the opposite effect one is looking for. So I did give this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️ as I believe it can work for some, it just didn’t give me the desire I like. Actually, I didn’t see any change at all. It was light weight and worked well in my hair in that aspect (as a leave-in product) I may explain this horribly but I like a very bright, vibrant blonde and sometimes adding these toners can turn my hair to the more “ashy” blonde. Both are beautiful, I just don’t like that tone against my skin. There are so many ranges of blondes these days 🤯 who knew 🤷♀️ just take one look at Chrissy’s page and you’ll see! I have some more finished products to review for you this week! Skincare of course 😁 ❤️🍒
Instagram made me buy it! Ouai (pronounced as way), means yes, in a casual Parisian way. This brand is everywhere and promoted by our favorite beauty gurus, celebrities and the most influential family, the Kardashians. I love its modern and minimalist packaging. It really stands out when you enter Sephora. It is also a cruelty free brand yay! For me, it’s really important to use products that are safe and free from any harmful chemicals. Another reason why I love Ouai as their products are formulated without parabens and sulfates. OUAI - Texturizing Hair Spray This is a hair spray and a dry shampoo in one. I use this after curling my hair to add more volume. The holding power is not that strong but it works well to tame my baby hair when I do a high tie ponytail. The most effective way is to flip your hair upside down, spray and scrunch using just your fingers. It doesn’t leave a heavy residue but it makes my hair oily the day after I used it. Other than I love this product and it smells amazing! OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray I grew up in the tropics and one of my essentials when going to the beach is a good wave spray. I bought this in mini and used in during my travel to Bali. Nothing special about this but it does the job of creating beachy waves and enhances the hair texture. OUAI - Rose Hair & Body Oil I actually prefer to use it on my skin. It is light and fast absorbing. I would always bring this with me to the beach and combine it with my tanning lotion and it works perfectly everytime. The scent is not overpowering, dispenses easily & a little goes a long way. #cheriepartner@cherie
Please note: this is an old post and I no longer recommend doing skincare that isn’t formulated for your face by scientists. You’ve probably already heard of the crayon lipstick/ lip tint. But there are so many wrong ways to do it and I’ve finally found the best method! Ingredients: Crayons in shades of red, orange, and pink (this is not opaque so other shades make your lips look weird) Canola oil (not coconut oil. Olive oil and sunflower oil work to) Food Extracts Directions: 1. Melt crayons in pot. Add less than 1/2 teaspoon of oil per crayon. 2. Let cool down for 1 minute then carefully add in extracts. If you do this to early it will spray and splatter. 3. Pour into container and let cool NOT in the fridge or freezer. 4. Use as you want. Easy to layer and use! ENJOY!
90s Lip Gloss is BACK in Style 💁🏻♀️
If y’all are a true 90s baby than you remember how important it was to always have your roller ball lipgloss or Lip Smacker product in your clear back bag! I remember loving my colorful collection and then the trend sort of died down some. But lucky for us lip gloss trend is back with our beloved TOWER 28 - ShineOn Lip Jelly in Shade “Fear Less.” This product retails for $14.00 (0.13 fl oz) at Sephora or Tower Beauty online. ☺️ There are six shades available from clear to purple and red gloss. They are truly non stick and provide moisture to the lips! You can wear it alone or as a top coat to your favorite lip stick. I love have chic the packaging and this brand stands for vegan and cruelty free products. Fragrance free if that’s not your thing and allergy tested! According to the website, three of the main ingredients are “apricot kernel oil, raspberry seed oil, and Rose hip oil.” 🥀 I bought this lip gloss two months ago and to be honest i wear it once or twice a week since I am home most of the day so I am certain this will last me a while. I would 100% recommend this to friends and family because it’s such a cute, fun, and effective product that stands for values I appreciate. As you can see the tint is light but subtle enough to give your lips a light purple color. 💜💜💜 If you’re considering buying a new lip gloss to try - I encourage y’all to get this one since it won’t cost you an arm and a leg! Let me know if you have tried this gloss in the past or now!

Half Caked Makeup - cream blushes 💖
💖 I have been following Half Caked makeup on Instagram for a while now. Recently, they posted a few new shades on their candy paint cheek and lip tint. 💖 I decided to buy a couple of products as I have been looking into spending my money on smaller businesses and POC businesses rather than larger makeup brands 💖 I placed my order about 2 weeks ago and it arrived yesterday. I totally understood the time it took to receive my order; this is a small brand and during the current covid crisis a delay in shipping was more than understandable. I got my items and they were packed with care. 💖 2 of the items I purchased were the Half Caked - Candy Paint Full Set candy paint cheek and lip tint in the shades velvet tiger and club paradise 💖 Velvet tiger looks very dark in the pan but it’s actually a love mauve shade, while club paradise is a pinky coral shade that gives a natural flush. 💖 These cheek and lip tints are very pigmented ! When I first applied velvet tiger I put on way too much product and had to sheer it out with my beauty blender. But you can definitely apply these tints with a angled powder brush, like the Luxie 504 which is the brush I used. 💖 I’m so far very happy with these products. They are very creamy but do dry down to a nice dewy finish. This is the perfect makeup to wear on bare skin in the summer when foundation is too heavy, or even over light foundation, to give skin a youthful glow.
