maskne, UGH!😩 never in my life did i think i’d be living through a pandemic. seriously, did you ever think that when you leave the house you’d have to add “wait, forgot my mask” to your leaving-the-house checklist? i definitely didn’t. i have a love & hate relationship with masks, because they hide my acne but they’re also the cause of it. 😩 so, you ask, how do you combat the acne? read along for some tips! 1. invest in a silk mask! silk absorbs less moisture & dirt than any other fabric, allowing your hydrated skin to stay hydrated throughout the night. silk is also gentler, and it allows your skin to actually breathe! 2. change your pillowcases every few days! 3. make sure you are always double cleansing! 4. invest in products that are targeted specifically towards your skin time! i have oily, acne-prone skin, and this simple routine below has helped prevent & diminish those active breakouts. 🧼 ($19.50) dermalogica - Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash
clears away dead skin cells, dirt and excess oils that clog pores and cause breakouts. contains salicylic acid>> sheds dead skin and reduces inflammation. 🧼 ($20) dermalogica - Clear Start Micro Pore Mist
a toner and facial mist in one! it minimizes visible pores, reduces excess oil, and helps diminish the appearance of post-breakout marks. it contains rich antioxidants + niacinamide. 🧼 ($21) dermalogica - Clear Start Breakout Clearing Booster
helps combat breakout-causing bacteria for rapid skin clearing. 🐌 ($13.99 for 4.05 oz) peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner
contains snail mucin, cica, and birch juice, which naturally exfoliates the skin + targets dark spots, evens the skin tone, heals, soothes, hydrates, and calms inflammation. 🐌 ($16.99 for 2.82 oz) peach slices - Snail Rescue All-in-One Oil Free Moisturizer
does the same! it also provides long lasting hydration. 🌍 ($18 for 2 oz) ROSEN SKINCARE - Earth Mask
regulates oil, fights active acne, and keeps breakouts at by with fuller’s earth clay, zinc oxide, eucalyptus oil, and even more. don’t forget to wear your masks! but most importantly, take care of what’s UNDER that mask.

Layering Skincare Ingredients To Achieve Happy Skin
Layering skincare products is like math for me. I am looking to have A + B + C = happy skin. Which means that one is never enough. You must layer them and try them all, in random orders until you skin thanks you. Or at least that is what I belive. I am a skincare addict. I really love trying out new products that help my combination, aging and blemish-prone skin. So when I found a few products thanks after seeing them on a beauty vlogger’s YouTube page, I said hmm, maybe I will give it a try. So that is what I did. Well, I read a few reviews first and then I opted in to making that big ticket purchase. Now when it comes to picking and choosing skincare products I need to make sure that whatever I use with either solves 2 out of the 3 shallow, but obvious skincare issues (I think) I have. The first issue being that I need to balance the oily and the dry areas on my face and neck. The second well, second and third problem that I have are age spots and hyperpigmentation. For the life of me, I do not know why my skin attracts these hard to get rid of dark spots. It’s really annoying because I know that as soon as I get either a deep scratch, cut, and/or pimple on my face, it is downhill from there. Within 4 days there will be a dark spot and then for 3-4 months I am trying my hardest to use natural remedies to brighten those spots; until I say screw it and go to some trusted over the counter, yet reliable chemicals. A few years ago I worked with an esthetician who re-introducted me to the world of effective but not too harsh products with effective chemical ingredients. In high school I knew nothing of natural oils or actual juice from a leaf to heal my acne spots, all I knew was my mother read about it so she purchased it. They all had some types of chemicals in them and I was using them to quickly fade that mess on my face. For the past 2 months, I’ve been using the Dermalogica “dermalogica - Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash” and the Murad “Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum” on my face. According to beauty vloggers both products really helped them and of course according to multiple websites, both products have 4 out of 5 star reviews. 4 out of 5 is all I ever need to convince me to make a purchase and give it a try.  My dark spot fading, nightly skinroutine is really simple.  After I feel the effects of either being scratched or a pimple I messed with now needs to heal, I immediately wash my face. Using a nickel size amount of the “Breakout Clearing Foaming Wash, I cleanse my face with warm water and then rinse it with cool water. Next, I towel blot my face with a 100% cotton towel and leave it wet enough so that the serum will really soak in.I then pump out a dime size amount of the serum and evenly massage it on my face but concentrating on the areas prone to scarring and getting blemishes. Done This routine is very good to try at night. While you’re sleeping, the skin is able to do it’s most effective healing. The 2% hydroquinone is a lightening agent in the serum so therefore if you do this while you are sleeping your skin cell’s are getting extra help with the skin cell regenation resulting in a more rapid healing and fading process. Not to mention that the prep you did by washing it with the Dermalogica cleanser, the salicyclic acid removed dirt off the surface and unclogged your pores. This cleanser also contains Tea Tree, Lavender and Camellia Sineneis, which all can calm irritated skin and stop the skin from breaking out any further.  Although this skincare routine can be done in the morning, I believe and found that it was better this way because if you are using the “Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum” during daylight hourse you also have to make sure that you were an SPF 30. The reason being that your skin is being lightening which means that the skin is being bleached which attracts the sun. The sun will be more than likely to burn your skin causing more damage than the good you were trying to achieve. All in all, these 2 of the products really work miracles for my face especially to quickly fade those pesky blemishes.

maskne friendly skincare 😷🤍
with our new normal including face coverings, it’s important to consider products that will help with the occasional breakout! the probability of a congested pore turning into a blemish is pretty likely, but it’s a small price to pay to stay safe! during the last few months i’ve learned so much about what products are best to combat this acne and get rid of it the healthiest and quickest way possible. ROSEN SKINCARE - Earth Cleanser my number one favorite cleaner. this is so powerful! I have combination skin, so I don’t use it everyday, but when I’m broken out—this is my first line of defense. it comes in a huge bottle, and i also use it for my bacne! ROSEN SKINCARE - Break-Out thus helps bring blemishes to the surface so they can heal quicker!! ROSEN SKINCARE - Earth Mask a mask version of the cleanser, it feels like a spa on your face. ingredients include benonite clay, eucalyptus, and tea tree! I try to never be without my rosen earth cleanser. if I had to recommend 1 product, it’s that one. if you want to try it feel free to use my code for $ off! (JYLOCKLEAR) what’s your maskne secret weapon? #cheriecreator #cheriepartner

My new favorite mask for breakouts 🌎✨
I’ve fallen in love with Rosen products, and I recently picked up the ROSEN SKINCARE - Earth Mask to try. I have oily/acne-prone skin and I look for masks that not only helps suck out the gunk but soothe my skin without being harsh (looking at you Aztec clay mask 🥴). So far I looove this one! It smells like eucalyptus, and has a cooling/tingling sensation. It dries down like a traditional clay mask but in a gentle way, and doesn’t require a lot of scrubbing. Plus, my skin almost feels moisturized afterwards and not dry at all! I totally recommend this mask!

Stimulate the Economy! Buy Skincare!
My newest finds and unfortunately last for a while :( I’m on leave from work right now so I only have one more paycheck coming in so these will be my last new grabs for a while! KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 -First time using a mineral sunscreen and I am in love! No white cast at all, leaves my face looking so glowy but not oily. Smell is kinda weird but that’s usually what happens when the product is fragrance free so 🤷🏼‍♀️ peach slices - Snail Rescue All-in-One Oil Free Moisturizer -You KNOW I had to get this after trying the snail mask! I have combo/oily leaning skin and this moisturizer is so nice and thin. I occlude it with squalane in the mornings TULA SKINCARE - Go Away Acne Spot Treatment -Okay so I was looking for the kinship spot treatment and couldn’t find it so I got this instead. I have not used it yet but it’s formulated with niacinamide, licorice, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, and lactic acid. WHEW that is a pretty stacked inkey IMO so I’m excited! I had coupons and points so I only got paid like $47 for all of this but I just got my stimulus check (yay!) so here’s to stimulating the economy! Hope you all get your stimmys and the chance to try some new products :-)

for my skin the best
I never took good care of myself and I started doing it about a month ago this is my night routine I love everything I use I feel my skin is cleaner and smoother, I love the peach slices tonic, it leaves me a very beautiful glow on my skin. Aveeno cream is the best for my skin along with retinol so that it doesn't irritate me, the truth is that I love these products! My skin is mixed with a tendency to break out pimples and this has not caused me any of that! SKINCEUTICALS - Retinol 0.5 Retinol Night Cream The first weeks I irritated my skin I felt super sensitive, everything burned, but over time my skin got used to it and it has helped me a lot with my spots. Aveeno - Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer When my skin is irritated by retinol, I found this beauty cream, I love it, it calms me, it refreshes me and it leaves my skin feeling rich.

Acne Skin Routine 🧴
I have acne-prone skin so I do this routine 1-2 times a week. I start by using the DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil to remove sunscreen and/or makeup. Although this one clogged my pores and made me break out, I still want to finish it before I find a new one. Next, I use the CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin to gently cleanse while exfoliating. I’ve been using this for a few months and haven’t noticed transforming results like others have. I tone with the peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner which has snail mucin (anti-aging), hyaluronic acid (hydrating), Centella Asiatica (soothing), and Tocopherol (Vitamin E). Overall great toner! I mildly exfoliate again with the VERSED - JUST BREATHE Clarifying Serum which has willow bark, niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, zinc gluconate, and more. Finally, I moisturize with the cocokind - Texture smoothing cream which I have been loving! It has a lot of squalane which hydrates while balancing oils. Occasionally, I also use pimple patches when I’m breaking out (which is often). My favorite ones are the HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewell ones.

My Top 5 Skincare Products of 2020!
2020 was quite the year. From Covid to wildfires, there were many difficulties. But, a good thing to come from the past year was growth in the skincare community! Being at home gave us lots of time to focus on ourselves and discover things that interest us. I have always loved skincare but quarantine gave me the opportunity to focus on my skin in a way I would have never been able to do otherwise. These are my favorite skincare products that I discovered this year! 1️⃣peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner I purchased this product in early December. I usually like to use a product for a while before I decide how I feel about it and definitely before I recommend it, but this product is special. I’ve been using it for a short amount of time but I absolutely love it! I have dry, acne prone skin and this is ideal for my specific needs. It is super hydrating but it also helps treat and prevent acne. 2️⃣FIRST AID BEAUTY - Pure Skin Face Cleanser This is a very basic cleanser but that is why I love it! It is very gentle and does exactly what it is supposed to do. I use this alone on days when I’m not wearing makeup or as a second step in a double cleansing routine. This is great for any skin type but if you have dry or sensitive this is especially good for you. 3️⃣BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream I purchased a trial size of this product because there is no way I could justify spending more than $50 on a product that is less than an ounce. Because of the price I don’t think I will be repurchasing this, but that being said, I love this product! I struggle with sensitive under eyes that flake and peel when irritated. This eye cream hydrates the sensitive skin around my eyes without making them sting! If you are able to purchase this product I really do recommend it. 4️⃣The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution As with pretty much everyone else, I found this product through TikTok. I’m a little late to the game though. I only recently started using this product but I can see a difference in my skin. I have milia on my forehead that makes my skin look textured and this helps! After using this product my skin feels soooo smooth. This product is very easy to misuse so make sure you are using it correctly and err on the side of caution. 5️⃣GLOW RECIPE - Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm This is the first cleansing balm I have ever used that I love. It feels so smooth on the face and easily removes all my makeup. I recommend it for anyone who is looking to double cleanse. Glow Recipe claims it can be used alone but I advise against that as it is hard to completely remove if you don’t follow it with a water based cleanser. If you have any skincare discoveries from 2020 let me know in the comments! I’d love to know what products you’re bringing with you into the new year.

Acne journey
Acne journey
Welcome to my skin journey! I’ve been struggling with acne for over a decade now, and just the past year it has gotten worst than ever. I used to have recurrent pimples on my nose and forehead, and being a nursing student with a lot of stress on my shoulders, i believe it triggered my acne to worsen. I just started getting into skincare on december of 2019, i’ve been watching youtube and educating myself about it. A big shoutout to hyram! :-) These pictures were taken 3mo apart: the second pic was taken at the end of may. It was taken a few days after getting a dermalinfusion. It was my first treatment that i have ever done on my face. It was very expensive but i was very desperate for help. I’ve done 2 treatments in total, but i realized this is only beneficial if i am constant with the treatments. I decided to stop and invest in skincare instead. Even days after my treatment my face was very red and i had very painful pimples. the third pic was taken beginning of june. Thats when i saw a huge difference in my skin, the main reason i knew i was on the right track is because i stopped having that one huge pimple on my nose. Over a decade i would constantly have a pimple on my nose, if it goes away, it eventually comes back on a different spot on my nose. It was a never ending cycle. But as you can see my whole life ive been picking on my pimples and this is the results of it. Everyone learns through error and thats me! So hyperpigmentation was my second concern, i still am struggling with acne once in a while, i would say once a month. Not really relate to my menstruation. This was the start of me using vitamin C every morning! the first pic is my current skin condition. Taking this picture got me very emotional (didnt cry tho haha). If theres one thing i would recommend is to take pictures of your journey, because seeing the before and after kept me motivated to continue! If you can’t tell i have a pimple on my forehead, covered by a pimple patch! That is my new way to stop picking on my pimples and prevent hyperpigmentation. I still am struggling with acne but i’m not upset about it because its nothing like before. This journey is still not over, honestly will never be over. I will be posting my skincare routine soon!!!! I only want to spread my knowledge so that i can help other people who are struggling like i am. My skin will never be perfect, no ones skin will ever be perfect. But what matters the most is that i am more confident with myself, and so grateful i dont have to hide under tons of makeup. I’m a happier person!

I’ve struggled with acne, texture, and dark spots for years. In 2017, I used lemon oil mixed with my moisturizer to fade spots. In 2019, I switched to Guidance to Glow products. Using their gentle cleanser has been the most beneficial for me. I also use the Luminance serum that contains actives such as glycolic, kojic, and salicylic acid to target. I’m now trying to simply my routine a little.

I can’t live without these Acne Spot Dots from Peach Slices (I’ve only been able to find them at CVS). They are AMAZING and have been so necessary in reaching clear skin These small, translucent and fast-acting acne patches actively absorb a developing blemish or an already-present pimple. The sticker-like hydrocolloid acts as a protective cover over the treated area to keep you from picking and quickly and effectively helps reduce inflammation so the blemish becomes visibly smaller in less than one day. The transparent, adhesive dots are non-drying (so no flaking!) and come in a variety of sizes that can be worn night or day with or without makeup. They’re pretty inexpensive especially compared to some similar product ($5 for one sheet) and work so so well. HIGHLY recommend! peach slices - Acne Spot Dots

Swipe to watch my skin journey
Swipe to watch my skin journey - from horrible hormonal acne, premature wrinkles and large pores to clean smooth and hydrated skin. I struggled with my skin from the what’s 2017-2019, it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with. I developed a tool kit to help my skin from the inside out, it started with birth control and controlling my cortisol and testosterone levels, once I started birth control and eliminated some stressful elements from my life, is started cleansing with micellar water and then a simple cetaphil cleanser, I would apply pixi glow tonic and then the ordinary hyralaunic acid, I would apply the ordinary copper polypeptide “buffet” and origins “a better world” moisturizer and I would apply tamanu oil to my acne scars. Twice a week I would use dr.jart cicarepair sheet masks or garnier hydrating sheet mask. I used glamglow brightening exfoliating mask once to twice a week to reduce my hyperpigmentation from acne scars. THE NUMBER ONE THING - was controlling my hormones, even with a great skincare routine, birth control and stress levels were instrumental in helping me control my hormonal acne. I highly recommend checking these methods out if you are not seeing results with your regular skin care routine.

Treating Acne and Minimizing Pores
Treating Acne and Minimizing Pores
Differin Gel was my first step into retinoids and is still one of my favorites! It’s first FDA-Approved full prescription strength retinoid available without a prescription, meaning that before the only way you could get it was through a prescription written by your doctor. Pros: ➕ prevents pimples, blackheads, and clogged pores from happening ➕ treats redness ➕ treats inflammation ➕ only needs to be applied once, at night Cons: ➖ can be sensitizing until your skin adjusts ➖ can be drying ➖ may cause the skin to purge I really loved Differin when I was using it, I've since switched to a higher percentage tretinoin instead, but would continue to use Differin if I felt the need to bring the percentage down. I didn’t experience any dryness or peeling, but I used a lot of hydrating products alongside Differin. If you use any kind of retinoids you just wear SPF because they all do sensitize the skin! The larger size that retails for $29 lasted me for a very long time! I did see a reduction in acne, but not in hyperpigmentation which is why I switched to a stronger retinoid. Finally! My acnes are gone!
Finally! My acnes are gone!
I had struggles with acnes in the past two years. I used to have a few in high school. But this breakout almost drive me crazy. Having acnes in college is not fun (especially in graduate school). My acne is cause by unbalanced hormone level and presser. Because it is resulting appearance and honestly caused anxiety and extra stress. I know having acne is depressed in any time. Personally I low self-esteem and at the time of looking for part-times and running through interviews. The terrible acne breakout and stress from internship and school did lead to a while of depression. After trying a series of products. I finally found two heroes that bring my skin back to normal. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo Dual Acne Treatment This product was recommended by my dermatologist when I had an acne breakout issue. The formula in it includes active ingredients are designed for intensive soothing. It also said to decrease redness which I found works well. This product has been amazing for my skin and the scarring. It’s very gentle and hydrating. I usually use it as a primer. as the first step of my skincare. After 8 weeks of trying it, the pores of my face are a little dilated and with this product, I get a good correction. I love this. It keeps my skin calm. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Hyalu B5 Pure Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum This one is a vitamin B serum. I know it is mainly for acnes, but trust me, those two works well together. I was so afraid to use serums during my outbreak just because I don’t want anything heavy too much nutrients on my face. My opinion, excessive amount of products may cause the unbalanced skin condition worse. Just from my personal experiences. And I hate to use stuff cross brands. I just found that product from same brand won’t go wrong. Very lightly scented which for me is always a huge plus. If you are looking for a serum for a pore skin that would have natural ingredients, this one is a good choice to go. I can really relate to those who had suffered from acnes. I know it really debilitates you and crushes self-confidence. But it is not the end of the world. These two product today may not be your best choice, but I’m here to tell you, do not give up. I do find out that your own mentality is the saver of acnes. You are not just what you look and you are much more better inside. Don’t let those acnes crush you down and it will go away eventually. Good luck!
