Self Care: Skin Roller & Sheet Masks
My new year skin-resolution is to use more sheet masks. Sheet masks are the best way to treat yourself to a moment of wellness and to give your skin a boost of hydration along with any treatments. I personally cannot stay still for 10-15 minutes, so my esthetician friends recommended that I use a facial roller with my sheet masks. This will not only keep my hands busy but enhances absorption, drain lymphatic nodes, and sculpt and tone my face. I found this great article from @SkinGym that shows you how to properly use facial rollers: 1. Start by using the larger stone and rolling upward (neck to jawline) 2. Sculpt the Jawline: Roll from chin to ear with upward rolling motion 3. Cheeks: Roll outwards from nose to temple 4. Under eye are: use the smaller stone roll gently outward from inner eye to temple 5. Forehead: use the larger stone roll outward towards the hairline. I repeat each step 2-3 times on each side of the face and repeat until serums in the sheet masks fully sinks into the skin. According to the article to get the best result you should be incorporating rolling into your daily AM and PM routine... but I’m still working on 2-3 times a week. Maybe in a month or so I can work my way up to once daily. Dr. Jart+ - Dermask Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution @cherie gifted this to me and I’ve loving this extra bit soothing hydration. They’re pretty inexpensive, ranging around $6-$9 for 5 masks. They’re formulated with patented aquasil component, hyaluronic acid and seaweed extract to provide intensive hydration. 🚫Dr. Jart+ is not cruelty-free they do test on animals when required and they do sell to mainland China which requires animal testing. #Blush Wellness - Rose Quartz Facial-Roller[products]#[FiveStars] This was gifted to me from Blush Wellness. They’re actually having a sale right now for $10. I usually pop it in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes to get them nice and cold whenever I want to get my “roll-on.”🤪 MICHAEL TODD BEAUTY - Soniclear Elite Antimicrobial Sonic Skin Cleansing System and MICHAEL TODD BEAUTY - Soniclear Replacement Serum Infusion Head I’ve also used the sonic clear serum infusion head and it works wonder as well! Ingredient spotlight: Vitamin C
Now a days you can take your pick of products from most common serums, essences, moisturizer, toners and even in primers and other types of make up. It is just one of those powerful ingredients that are great for all skin types. If you want glows skin, there’s a super ingredient that you should add to your skincare regimen, Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that protects your skin from free radicals and all environmental aggressors. Layered a serum or a moisturizer with this powerful ingredients under a sunblock, it will give you double the protection. Vitamin C also helps with lightening any dark spots you already have, by reducing “the activity of the enzyme that leads to the production of pigment, but it also addresses the existing discoloration,” —Dr Dennis Gross. Obviously, over the counter serums and tonics will not work as well as a prescription with hydroquinone or Retin-A at erasing scars and spots, but it will help even and brighten your skin overall. According to Dr. Gross during his interview with Self.com, when shopping for a Vitamin C to boost your skin routine, look for keywords like L-ascorbic acid and sodium ascorbyl phosphate (which are both water soluble), as well as ascorbyl palmitate and tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (which are lipid soluble), on the ingredients list. Because skin is consist of both lipid and watery layers, the perfect product/ product that has the best absorption will have a balanced mix of fat-soluble and water-soluble ingredients. Disclaimer: please use vitamin c responsibly. With everything in life, too much of a good thing is a bad thing. So find your balance. Please note, I do not use the combination of these products in one day or everyday. LUMENE - Nordic-C Glow Boost Essence Serum 30ml $12-$25 depends on size and retail. Dupe for Glossier jelly cleanser
Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser $18 available on Glossier.com for 177ml Gently removes make up and cleanse skin. Made for all skin types. Based with soothing rose water, comfrey root extract, and pro vitamin-B5, this cleanser is meant to soothes and heals dry stresses skin. Use one-two pumps on dry skin to remove make and rinse off with water. There’s no “soap” content in this cleanser. Instead they are based with poloxamer— gentle surfactant that helps to break up the product on micellar level— generally used in contact lens solution, mouth wash, micellar water , etc. I personally love this cleanser in the morning. And I love love the way it smells. bliss - Makeup Melt Jelly Cleanser $10-$14 depending on the retail, for 190ml. I think Target has it for $9.99. I got mine at CVS with one of their coupons. 😜 Similar to its Glossier’s brother, it can also be used dry/ wet. Also based with rose water and pro vitamin-B5 it gently removes make up as well as cleanse. While it is made for all skin types it is best for dry stressed skin. This cleanser uses Apple Amino Acids— Derived from apple juice essential amino acids – a natural surfactant that gently cleanses eyes and skin. It is a lil’ but less jelly than the Glossier cleanser and smells different (smells great!) but overall cleanse the same. It is literally the same cleanser. So if you are in the market for something more accessible than Glossier or just something less expensive, this is a great dupe! But both are amazing products that I will repurchase again and again. Worth the hype? Best hyaluronic serum?
VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum It seems that everyone has been raving about this product and rightfully so. It is light weight and can easily incorporate into your day/ night skincare routine. This serum’s base is mineral rich volcanic water—89% to be exact, and contains “15 skin-loving minerals including iron, potassium, calcium, and manganese that work to moisturize skin, re-balance its pH, and protect against pollutants.” — Vichy Another bragging point, is that this product contains only 11 ingredients — clean, allergy tested, dermatologist tested , and Vegan. We all know what an amazing ingredient hyaluronic acid is for our skin—plumps and retain moisture. And this product does just that. It’s so simple and I would definitely recommend this for friends that have very sensitive skin. The only set back about this brand (in general) is that I’m not 100% sure of their cruelty free status. According to their site they do not test on animals but it seems that they currently sell/ market their products in China — which requires animal testing. Maybe this is old news? And if not, hopefully one day that’ll change. So I use it and love it with hesitation and I’m not sure if I would repurchase after I finish the bottle. Maybe I’ll change my mind- who knows. If that (cruelty-free status) is not a factor when you buy/ use cosmetics than go for it! It is $30 and it’s super accessible- available on Ulta*, CVS, Walgreens, Vichy.com, Skinstore.com. If you find yourself on a budget, get it at CVS. There’s always a sale and of course coupons. ** Ulta has them in 3 sizes. Can You Believe A $15 Face Serum Transformed Reese Witherspoon Skin???!!!
Congratulates to Reese Witherspoon won the Emmy Awards as one of the Best Lead Actress in a Drama. Reese Witherspoon's signature fresh skin and classic red lipstick go deep into the hearts of the people. Her makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan shares her fresh skin secret and what really surprised me is the using products that all cost $15 or less! And what's also surprised me is that we can find Kelsey Deenihan Cherie's account!!! 💋Reese Witherspoon's Secret to get a Flawless Skin: THE inkey LIST - Q10 Antioxidant Serum THE inkey LIST - Peptide Moisturizer To give Witherspoon the best possible canvas for makeup, she started by applying The Inkey List's Q10 Antioxidant Serum, a cocktail of antioxidants, peptides, and squalane that smoothes and hydrates skin. Deenihan followed that with the brand's Peptide Moisturizer, which Deenihan says is fast-absorbing. THE inkey LIST - Caffeine Eye Cream THE inkey LIST - Polyglutamic Acid Hydrating Serum To prevent concealer creasing, she applied The Inkey List Caffeine Eye Cream under Witherspoon's eyes before topping off her whole face with Polyglutamic Acid, "the perfect makeup base." Witherspoon looked virtually flawless on the red carpet! The entire routine used for her skincare before makeup costs roughly $55 in total! Perfect budget, amazing products which show that even to get red carpet-ready skin, don't have to spend an arm and a leg! (Information get from Allure) ❤️My Personal Review: The INKEY List - Peptide Moisturizer: Luckily I tried one of the products that Reese Witherspoon used! I love moisturizers, especially when they’re simple but nourishing. This product is a lightweight, emollient cream that has a bouncy texture that makes it perfect for evening use and suitable for non-oily folks to use in the AM, leaving a silky radiant finish and quenched feeling for the skin. It soaks in beautifully and isn’t greasy at all. I think this is a really nice hydrating moisturizer that can replenish dehydrated dry skin, at a pretty affordable price, in an air-tight pump that keeps the product clean and contamination risk minimal.

Why I NEVER buy full-size Perfumes 🤫
I never buy a full-size bottle of perfume because well...MATH! ➕➖✖️➗ It doesn’t take much to figure out why 100 ml perfume bottles just don’t make sense: perfume has a life of approx. 30 months. That’s 912 days which, to me, sounds pretty generous considering perfume is made of ethanols that evaporate 📆 yes, even "eau de parfums"... every spray is approx 0.1 ML of perfume 🧪 Therefore every 100 ml bottle of perfume has 1000 sprays in it. Assuming you use the same perfume all year at a rate of 1 spray/day you’re always buying more perfume than you can possibly consume by expiry from the moment you purchase the bottle = 1000 sprays > 912 days. SO, 100 ml perfume bottles are a waste even in the most “clinical” scenario that is not realistic. In a more realistic scenario, where you wear different perfumes depending on the day - it’s actually more waste! Consider that you don’t know how long your bottle has been sitting on the shelf for before you buy it. It likely had even less than 912 days of potent parfum left! You’re not buying and using just 1 perfume for 912 days either...You alternate between winter and summer scents, sample perfumes, body sprays, gifts from friends/family etc. You’re also not wearing perfume every single day even if you’re her majesty 👑. You don’t wear it when you’re sick, hungover, when you’re just eating cereal in your jamjams, when you forget etc. Because you’re not using the same perfume nor using it every day, the ratio is even higher than 1000>912! You’re buying WAY more product than you could ever use before it starts to smell "off". Once it starts to turn, what’s the point of wearing off-smelling perfume? Because that’s reality for me, I buy 30 ml of any perfume AT MOST! That’s 300 sprays which makes sure I have fresh, potent perfume whenever I feel like wearing it and the money to buy other things in my pocket, where it belongs 😉 and thats on QUALITY > QUANTITY.

List of BEAUTY truths I wish I knew sooner!
12 years into trying to find a good routine and I have one that I really love now but the journey was expensive, frustrating, and A LOT of trial and error. For those of you better at learning from other people’s mistakes than I am, here’s a list of things I would’ve told myself had I knownabout them sooner: 🧖🏻♀️ Wash your hair as little as possible! For some ppl that’s 3-4 times a week, for others that’s 3-4 times a month. Whatever works for you but do NOT wash your hair every day. I used to wash my hair every day thinking I can NEVER do less. Trust me, you can... 🪒 Want to be smoooth as a baby and shave less? The magic order is WET, SHAVE, EXFOLIATE, SHAVE AGAIN with hair conditioner, MOISTURIZE, THANK ME 😅. 🧽STOP physically exfoliating your face. Stop it! It feels good, but that’s the top of the slope and the only direction is down! Use a MILD chemical peel or gommage instead, but for the love of god put the scrubs down. ☕️ DO exfoliate your body with SUGAR/COFFEE SCRUBS. They’re well tolerated and they can smooth out bumps, dry patches and even cellulite! Still - never overdo it. 🧪Pay more attention to ingredients, less attention to price. Something can be expensive but worth the investment. Something can be inexpensive but more effective. 🗝Find what YOUR key ingredients are and load up on them. I learned that my body loves SHEA BUTTER, HYALURONIC ACID, SUNFLOWER OIL, SNAIL, AND NIACINIMIDES. However it HATES cocoa butter, olive oil, coconut oil, vitamin C, retinols or retinoids, green tea and fragrance. I make sure all my products have the ingredients that my body loves regardless of trends or marketing. 🌱You can be , or even BECOME, sensitive to synthetics. They’re in a lot of things we use every day like hairsprays, body sprays, scented candles, , moisturizers, perfumes, makeup etc. so it’s likely that you’re overdosing on synthetics. 🧼Cleansers are more important than you think! How you strip/clean your skin is a HUGE factor in how it behaves. 📌Dont waste money on full size 100 ml perfumes. 30ml-50ml is more than enough. I have a whole other post explaining why! 🧴If you use body wash, you should moisturize. Body wash is lovely but it is full of stuff that will strip your skin as you age. If you don’t want bumps, itchy, dry, dull skin over time then apply moisturizer right out of the shower while your skin is still damp! 💵 Stop demonizing drugstore products. Brands like CERAVE, La ROC, AVENE, VICHY, LA ROCHE POSAY, NIVEA, VASELINE, BIODERMA all make some of the most effective, affordable products. Petrolium jelly will NOT clog your pores or irritate your skin. It’s one of the most effective healers out there and it’s $4/tub. Focus on what WORKS and dont be afraid to challenge your own beliefs.

Probiotic skincare is the future💫
If you've heard that pre/probiotics are good for your gut, it's absolutely true. But it's also true that they are good for your skin. ⭐️ Our skin's surface is an ecosystem of microscopic organisms that are working to protect it and keep it healthy. The microbiome is the topmost layer of the skin that contains good bacteria, which protect it from damage, the same way good bacteria works in our gut. ⭐️ A balanced microbiome is healthy skin, meaning it's able to defend itself from outside aggressions (pollution, sun damage), internal aggressions (hormones, stress) and repair itself correctly. While we cannot see these internal aggressions happen, they affect the growth of healthy skin cells and protective compounds like elastin, ceramides, and more. ⭐️ As skincare fanatics, we can tend to go heavy-handed on the acids and retinols, which when incorporated gradually, are excellent for skin regeneration. But we've all heard of the skin barrier and how it can be damaged with over-exfoliation. Part of our skin barrier includes the microbiome, which is why it is important to keep it healthy and thriving. ⭐️ In addition to my internal supplements, I have incorporated a variety of pre/probiotic products my skincare routine and I absolutely believe it has improved my skin tenfold. One of my most recent purchases is this Energy Skin Tint from BeautyTech Cosmetics. They create beautiful serums filled with pre & probiotics to feed your skin's flora helping it return to health so it can function properly. Beautytech - Skin Energy Tint Beautytech - Skin Energy Tint ⭐️ A little more edu about pre/probiotics from BeautyTech Cosmetics: 💫Pre-biotics: A food source for the bacteria, like a green powerhouse smoothie to recalibrate the skin flora and preserve the diversity and heterogeneity of your unique microbiome. These natural pre-biotics nourish your probiotics to form a robust biome and barrier that keep your skin hydrated and resilient, and less likely to redden, sting, burn and flake. 💫These now fully fed probiotics maximize the benefits of good bacteria by strengthening the skin’s natural defences for optimal hydration, reduced inflammation and redness, improved appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and fewer breakouts. As our probiotics break down on your skin’s surface they create brilliant new ingredients for the skin, such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, and vitamins, as well as increasing the presence of ceramides. 🤍 I think probiotics are completely undervalued in the skincare community.
