I got an allergic reaction to my entire routine!
So 2 years ago I woke up with my entire face swollen, red and dry. I had nothing else on my body so it had to be due to something in my face skincare routine. After going to the doctor and getting a steroid shot, I was advised by the allergist to patch test all the products i was using. The result: I WAS ALLERGIC TO ALL OF THEM This was especially weird because I had been using some of these products for over 2 years, but apparently it’s called contact dermatitis. These were the products I used: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel

MeshyLocaThayers witch hazel did that to my skin too. It worked perfectly fine at first but I stopped using it a while ago as witch hazel will cause your skin to be more sensitive. Try removing it from your routine. Try replacing it with Paula’s Choice or Heritage rose water toner. They worked pretty well for me. But definitely avoid witch hazel.

Brands I love ❤️
For Valentine's day I figure I'd make a post about brands I LOVE and highly recomend! Paula’s choice I know I do not own many of her products and I think it’s because I want to try other brands as I explore the vast skincare world. I already know this one is trustworthy in my book. They not only have a great resource with their ingredient dictionary, but they use that knowledge and transparency to formulate great products. Even the negative reviews on this brand that I've seen still say they formulate very well. They are slightly on the pricey side (expect about $40 or more), but you cannot go wrong. I love their PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator especially and have used their PAULA'S CHOICE - Defense Nightly Reconditioning Moisturizer Krave Beauty They don’t carry a lot of products in their brand, but like a fine dining restaurant with a small menu, what they make is their specialty. Their products are reasonably priced and they focus on non-irritating effective ingredients to help your skin barrier. I currently have their Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser and their Krave - Great Barrier Relief Inkey List I love this brand and that they are making simple products with usually only once active and that allows people to try them to see how it effects their skin for a reasonable price. I currently have their rosehip oil because I didn’t know how my skin would react to it, but it’s known for hydrating and evening skin tone. I currently use their THE inkey LIST - Rosehip Oil Cosrx Another good brand that formulates well while still being very reasonably priced. I love their COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and COSRX - Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Power Essence CeraVe A tried and true brand. There is a reason why dermatologists recommend this. CeraVe is formulated with non irritating ingredients, that may make them seem “boring” by not being packed with actives, but effective. I have a few of their products. CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream and CeraVe - Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum
Only 3 months left on Roaccutane
Dermatologist appointment went well on Tuesday. She dropped me down to 10mg a day and said May will be my last month on Roaccutane! She said because my skin is so clear I could stop now, but I’d rather stick to the 12 month plan my GP suggested. I’ve been lucky not to get crazy side effects, and while there is still a chance of acne coming back I trust my derm’s plans for after stopping the medication. I’ll be getting prescribed a tretinoin moisturiser, and by November/December we will start laser treatment to help smooth out the deep scarring and hyperpigmentation. Also can’t wait to continue my tattoo journey once my skin is back to normal, I think that’s been the only truly hard part of this journey 😂 Simple - Hydrating Cleansing Oil Simple - Kind to Skin Moisturizing Facial Wash CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream OLAY - Regenerist Retinol 24 Max Fragrance-Free Night Hydrating Moisturizer

UPDATE: I Quit Differin
This is a long overdue skincare update but I have quit Differin because it started to strip my skin barrier, and I kept breaking out even after applying the gel. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel -I’m about to run out of this cleanser and I’m thinking about replacing it with a more moisturizing cleanser from the same brand. This cleanser is excellent but I wish it was a bit more effective PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator -This has been a little too gentle on my skin so I wasn’t able to experience a huge difference after using this product The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA -This serum is gentle on my skin and I have noticed an improvement in my skin’s tone VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream -I came back to this moisturizer to give it a second chance and I’ve come to the conclusion that it is better for people with very oily skin and I have combination skin PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ -This product is a chef’s kiss. It is gentle, hydrating, and very effective at protecting your skin from the sun I am still breaking out but I’m not sure which route to take. I’ve been exfoliating quite a lot and I’m thinking about going the other path and restoring the hell out of my skin. Any recommendations to restore my skin’s barrier and to increase collagen as well as clearing out my pimples and acne scars would be much appreciated!
So I thought I would do a skin update. All the products I’ve been using have been tagged in the first photo. I’ve started this new regime a while back when my acne got really bad after I tried oil cleansing. And it’s been a long and difficult road since then and I noticed my skins needs have changed a little bit so I decided to update my routine. I have combination skin and the skin on my forehead is really dry and so is the area around my mouth but my nose and my cheeks are super oily. So I’ve decided to start usingThe Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5to help combat this as well as The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oilto further hydrate my skin. I also need a new sunscreen because I wasn’t a fan of the Neutrogena ultra sheer. The sunscreen would take a really long time to rub it in and if I got the sunscreen on my eyebrows or any of my hair it would turn white and flake, which wasn’t fun. So I’ve decided to try the Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30. I’ve also started icing my face recently and I’ve noticed that it helps reduce inflammation from acne. And I’ve also noticed that my facial features have become a little bit more defined but only when I ice my face consistently. While I don’t have much acne around my cheeks anymore, i’ve noticed that I keep getting acne in my upper lip area in the same spots. Although I still don’t know exactly what’s causing this acne I did read that certain toothpaste can contain sodium lauryl sulfate, which can clog pores if you get toothpaste on your skin. So I’ve become hyper aware of toothpaste getting on my skin when I brush my teeth now but I haven’t been paying attention long enough to notice a difference yet. And because of the consistent acne around my lips I have hyper pigmentation and that area is kind of getting dark now. I’m using vitamin C and Azelic acid to treat the hyper pigmentation but I’m not seeing results as fast as I would like. Does anyone know of a way to get faster results or how to treat it more effectively?
PLEASE HELP ❗️❗️❗️❗️
Recently, I have been experiencing terrible breakouts around my cheek, ear and jawline area. They are super painful and when they heal they leave behind terrible dark spots. This has taken a serious toll on my mental health and self esteem. If there is any products, diet of habits that you recommend for my struggle with acne please let me know. Thank you! These are the products I use in the Am: PLANTS FOR SKIN - African Black Soap Face and Body Bar THAYERS - Witch Hazel Astringent CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 Pm routine: PanOxyl - Acne Foaming Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Maximum Strength THAYERS - Witch Hazel Astringent Cetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream My exfoliants: TATCHA - The Rice Polish Foaming Enzyme Powder THE BODY SHOP - Vitamin C Glow-Revealing Liquid Peel Products I used in the past (that didn’t work) CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser bliss - Glow & Hydrate Day Serum bliss - Renew & Smooth Night Serum The Ordinary - Alpha Lipoic Acid 5%
Starting differin and panoxyl
I wanted to document my skin journey before I started using differin to see my skin’s improvement. I’m slowly introducing it once every two weeks and then using it more often nightly. My current skincare routine in the am is DR. BRONNER'S - Organic Eucalyptus Castile Liquid Soap This product is great for shaving and other purposes but I haven’t seen any difference in my skin GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner Makes my skin really bright and awake GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Serum Makes my pores look smaller and gives me bright skin as well ACURE - Radically Rejuvenating Eye Cream This was a waste of money I didn’t really see any difference in my under eyes. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 A little sticky but makes my skin feel very moisturized. PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ Makes my skin feel a little oily but there is no white cast. For pm I use LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser Makes my skin feel very clean great for oily skin And then I continue with the am routine minus the spf. ADVANCED CLINICALS - Dark Spot Corrector I then use this product last it has made my dark spots much less noticeable. Once a week The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I haven’t seen much improvement in my skin. I don’t feel much at all using this product. I oil cleanse with castor and jojoba oil then use my la roche cleanser Previously I have used The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Very sticky but improved my acne there was purging with this product initially. THAYERS - Witch Hazel Astringent I used this out of habit for a long time there was no improvement in my skin. I’m also going to be switching out my am cleanser for PanOxyl - Acne Foaming Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Maximum Strength I understand the two products I’m going to be using make your skin very dry so if you have any moisturizer recommendations please leave them below. If there’s anything you think I can change in my routine or any advice please feel free to leave a comment. This is my first week starting these two products I will continue to leave updates. Thank you!
Oh Ceramides, How I Adore You
I have combination skin on my face, and that is acne-prone. I was bothered by acne when I was about 20 years old. So I bought a lot of products to try to find which one can balance the water and oil. The first skincare product that worked well for me was from CeraVe, Which I chose because some bloggers highly recommended it. In the beginning, I just wanted a cleanser that did not strip my skin squeaky clean. I use CeraVe cleanser and lotion that tout ceramides as one of the essential ingredients. And When I found out that Ceramides take care of my protective skin barrier. I love it, and I can not live without it. Ceramides are a vital yet often overlooked skincare ingredient. Ceramides help restore the barrier function of skin, which keeps water in and prevents moisture from escaping out. Thankfully, products contain ceramides as an ingredient are so easy to find — they will say it right on the label. You can buy the products which contain ceramides online or pharmacy，there are so many choices for you. And here are my picks: CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser– It is useful for my sensitive combination skin, And this is a fragrance-free product. As you can see, the picture one is my sixth brand new bottle. I recommend this face wash, especially for those who are struggling with acne because it isn't too harsh on the face. CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin – I have been using this for three more years, which is nourishing, gentle. The label suggests that this would be better for dry and dehydrated skin, while I feel good even though I am combination skin. By the way, I also apply the lotion to the body because it's vast and affordable. I recommend CeraVe. 🙌

🧴CeraVe Skincare Products🧴
Let’s talk about CeraVe products. CeraVe is a skincare brand that does not contain fragrance or alcohol ingredients. CeraVe has gentle working products including face wash, face lotion, etc. CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe’s Foaming Facial Cleanser is a cleanser that was developed with dermatologists and removes facial oil without disrupting the skin’s protective barrier while keeping your skin soft for 24 hours. 💆♀️💆♀️ Based off of my experience with the product, the cleanser works great, and hasn’t caused me to break out or cause me to have rashes. Though, the cleanser is very gentle and works at its own pace. If you ever plan on getting this product, you will not see huge results for a few weeks, maybe about a month. You start to see small changes in your skin every few days. For this product to correctly work, you must be committed and wash your face 2 times per day. ☺️☺️ CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin So from my perspective, this product is a little overrated to me. 😶When I used this product I felt like I got enough moisture from the cleanser than the lotion. So as soon as I finished the bottle, I turned to the Cetaphil Moisturizer and I am now seeing a difference in my skin. So for my skin, I just feel like it’s a normal, basic moisturizer. So I would definitely recommend the cleanser and if you are willing to give it a shot, get the moisturizer also! Cetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion Helpful Tip: ⚠️Please remember that Cetaphil is usually better for oily skin than normal skin. ⚠️I have more of oily skin and Cetaphil works great for me! Enjoy your fresh skin!✨
Cetaphil-Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion
A 2 Week Update
After changing out my cleanser, toner, and moisturizer for the suggestions made by this app (and from reading your posts and watching Hyram’s videos) my skin is looking smoother and better than ever! I have sensitive skin that’s also combination and I’m allergic to some skincare ingredients and fragrances. I used to use CLINIQUE - Liquid Facial Soap Oily Skin Formula , CLINIQUE - Clarifying Lotion 3 for Combination Oily Skin , CLINIQUE - 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula , and CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator (where the oily skin moisturizing gel was not good on my dry skin) as my nightly routine with HUDA BEAUTY - Yo Glow Facial Enzyme Scrub once a week. I found that first it worked to clear me up, but then my sensitivities came out. I still had little bumps come up on my forehead, my dermatitis was coming out on my nose, chin, and temple. I knew I had to change it up, but was afraid to break from the system I was so used to. I did the skincare scan and was recommended to try a glycolic acid toner for my acne. I picked up The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution and CeraVe - Renewing SA Lotion to help with my problem areas. I ended up using both products in more areas than just my face (as you can see in one of my previous posts). I wanted to change up my cleanser, and wanted the CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin, but it’s still sold out everywhere unless I want to spend $40 CAD and shipping to get it from Amazon. I watched Hyram’s CeraVe dupes video and found the Aveeno - Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser . I was a bit apprehensive where it has fragrance, but it’s been good! Ooh, and I still use HUDA BEAUTY - Yo Glow Facial Enzyme Scrub once a week! My skin purged for a few days and now I’ve got the remains of 2 pimples barely left on my face, my red patches of irritated skin on my face are gone! All I’ve got to do now is to keep from touching my face (which is more on my mind due to the current state of the world) and stop popping pimples (which is a much easier feat where they’re minimal now!) My mom has even hopped on The Ordinary and Yo Glow train lol Let me know if you have any further suggestions or questions! ❤️

Cerave for the body?!
Everyone is always talking about the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser and other face products, rightfully so, but no one ever talks about the amazing body products they have as well. If you’re like me you have super sensitive dry skin and are prone to things causing some irritation or rashes. We both no these are no fun. I have found that minimizing my routine and leaving out irritating ingredients helps control a lot of these symptoms. Let’s talk about the CeraVe - Hydrating Cleansing Bar for Normal to Dry Skin first. This product I bought after wanting to use more bar soaps because I wanted to be more environment conscious. My issue with bar soaps in the past is they leave behind this sticky residue that I CAN’T stand. I was so pleasantly surprised when this product didn’t do that. I was also surprised when this product actually lathered. I figured it was going to be like the hydrating facial cleanser and not foam up, which is fine for the face, but I have this thing with my body where foam = clean. (I know, I know🤣) anyway, this actually foamed up and instead of stripping my skin of moisture I felt like I was adding a moisturizer onto my skin. I imagine this would also work on the face as well for people who want something that foams but also hydrating. The next product I want to talk about is perfect for people who have body acne. CeraVe - SA Body Wash for Rough & Bumpy Skin I bought this product when I was having a hard time with KP on the back of my arms. I didn’t ever see a difference with that when using this product but I did see a major difference with my body acne. This is perfect for those with sensitive skin that still need the active ingredient of salicylic acid. It can be a smidge drying though so warning.

UPDATE ON MY CERAVE SKINCARE ROUTINE
so I just started using these products exactly 2 weeks ago and I don’t really have any before or after pics but I do see a difference.! Before my acne was very inflamed and now it’s more smooth if that makes any sense. Some of the redness has also gone down. I still have a long way to go as far as the scaring etc. but if you guys have any tips for acne scars for sensitive skin (i think I have combo skin but I’m really not sure) please let me know!! Now I will go into depth with these products thanks for reading :)) The CeraVe Sa cleanser : Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars I really like this cleanser so far! It’s very smooth and doesn’t have much lather which I like!! it really got most of my pimples and acne gone within 2 weeks! It does exfoliate your skin every time you use it (I found this out from one of the comments :) so I make sure to only use it once a day. I’m still debating if I should get a skincare night routine as well but I’m not sure yet. Anyways to sum it up I really like this product so far and it hasn’t caused any trouble to my skin as far as I can see. The CeraVe Sa moisturizing lotion: Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 and a half/5 stars I really like this product! I’m just not sure it’s really right for me. It does leave my face feeling moisturized but almost greasy at the same time I might be using to much. But I do like it! I still have a big bottle so I’m not sure if I will be getting any new moisturizers any time soon but I am open to suggestions! The CeraVe SPF 30 sunscreen moisturizing lotion Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A lot of people had a problem with this since it doesn’t leave a white tint behind but I really love this product. The won’t tint doesn’t really bother me it might mess with someone who might wear makeup but I don’t so.. yeah. I would definitely recommend. But I am open to suggestions for a new one! Maybe something with more protection since it is summer time! Thank you guys so much for reading :))
