HOW TO: Vitamin C. All Tips and tricks!

Skin need a little pick me up? Some brightening? You definitely need to add Vitamin C to your routine! Our skin naturally produces vitamin c, but as we age the amount we have naturally becomes less and less. Sun exposure and pollution accelerate the loss of natural VC. Why Vitamin C? It’s a powerhouse ingredient!
it evens out skin tone
reduces fine lines and wrinkles
protects skin from environmental stressors And radical damage
“Problems” with Vitamin C
it’s extremely sensitive to air and light. It’s oxidizes and breaks down. It loses it potency.
packaging needs to be opaque and let as little light in. It also needs to be able to be closed and keep air out.
YOU NEED TO WEAR SPF when using vitamin c. Your skin becomes more sensitive to the sun. *from my own personal experince, I felt burning and breakouts from taking any dog for a walk after applying my VC and no sunscreen.*
How to use it in your routine?
apply morning and night. Always use SPF in the day time with it.
apply in the typical order of your routine. If it’s a serum, apply from thinnest to thickest serums.
Vitamin C works just fine with other ingredients, so feel free to use it with Niacinamide and even retinol. Just be wary of what your skin can handle

My mini @versed collection 🖤 I wanted to take this time to do two small reviews and a first impressions on these products. REVIEW: ⚡️Just Breathe - Clarifying Serum: I have been using this product for about a month now and wow, the improvement in my acne is incredible. I have very dry/sensitive/acne-prone skin and this serum does an AMAZING job at calming down all my acne, reduces the redness in my skin and I just love how gentle it is on my skin. I will be using this product for a VERY long time. I need to stock up on my few bottles soon. ⚡️ The Shortcut Overnight Facial Peel: Okay so at first I was very skeptical about this product. I wasn’t sure how well this peel would work for me, but then again I’m not familiar with peels because I never bothered to give them a try. Let me tell you.. I am so happy I bought this product. I’ve been using this twice a week for the past 3 weeks and my skin the next morning, is GLOWING. It’s perfect for acne-prone sensitive skin. Another amazing product from Versed that I will re-purchase once I finish this tube. FIRST IMPRESSION: ⚡️Found the Light - Powder w/ Vitamin C ⚡️Stroke of Brilliance- Brightening Serum: I just bought these this past week and had the chance to use them twice so far. With these type of products, you see results with a more consistent/long term use, so nothing was seen immediately, but it didn’t further irritate my acne at all, which makes me very happy. I can already tell I am going to love these two products the longer I use it. What is your favorite versed product? 😍
Drugstore Products That Work - Versed Vit C
VERSED - FOUND THE LIGHT Powder With VC *skin is normally oily/combo but has been dry recently. Does Versed count as drugstore? I think it does? It’s affordable and sold at target right? That’s drugstore. Ok good glad we agree. So Target. My favourite place on earth. I miss Canadian Target so dearly. Anyway, I headed over to the states last year and of course stopped in at Target and this is how I tried Versed for the very first time. I had seen the brand all over the skinstagram world and had heard such great things about it. There were so many products that I wanted to try but this ultimately was the very first product I tried from them. This is a Vitamin C brightening powder which is just revolutionary. Instead of a vitamin C serum or cream, this is a literal powder that you can mix in with any of your favourite moisturizers. That’s initially what called to me about this product. I like to change my moisturizer (and really all of my skincare) depending on what my skin needs and so this being a powder that I can mix in with whatever is super helpful. It means that I can still get some vitamin c and some brightening worked into my routine whether I’m using a gel moisturizer or a cream moisturizer or whether my skin is oily or dry. This little bottle has lasted me so long because you only need to use a little bit of powder to mix in and it’s so easy to do. I just apply my moisturizer in my hand and put the powder on top and blend it in. It mixes so nicely with any consistency. I think this was only about $12 USD so about $15 CAD for me? I definitely think it’s worth it because I’ve been able to make it last for so long and it’s such a versatile product. I will say I don’t see a ton of results in terms of brightening but I do like the idea of just having a Vitamin C in my routine and I feel like it helps to even out my skin tone! Would definitely recommend trying this product!

Works good on dark spots

I often get dark spots from my acne and this does work to fade them away. It also is very smooth and makes you skin feel really soft. It's a runny product, I suggest a good shake before using and do not over use. I used it mainly at night and it was fine. Vitamin C is an effective antioxidant that brightens the skin tone and reduces the appearance of signs of aging. This product is a water-free suspension of 23% L-Ascorbic Acid powder.

N e w b i e theinkeylist Retinol Serum Retinol seems to be the only thing that can keep my acne at bay. Skin has been wild lately without it and I've just introduced this serum into my routine. This particular serum is 1% stable retinol and 0.5% granactive retinoid with Squalane for hydration and nourishment. My thoughts on the serum, it's a lightweight formula that absorbs quickly, doesn't leave any stickiness, oiliness and doesn't leave my skin feeling dry. I get no irritation from using this and it's really helped speed up the process of bringing my cystic/nodule pimples to a head. For those who aren't sure what retinol/retinoids do, here's a brief summary 👇🏻 Retinoids and Retinol are derivatives of vitamin A and have been proven to boost collagen production thus reducing fine lines and wrinkles, speeds up cell turnover helping battle hyperpigmentation, soothing inflammation, rosacea and keeps acne at bay.

CLINIQUE Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10% This product provides fresh vitamin C, and it has only seven days to keep fresh after activation. The color will turn brown after seven days due to normal Vitamin C oxidation. It smells sour, and the using experience is not good too. My face feels stinging after applying this product, but that feeling will disappear after around 20 seconds. The official using description is mixing two drops with your moisturizer AM and PM to power up your regular skincare routine. For this using amount, the product is way too much for seven days of use. So I use more product than the recordation and also put it on the neck and hands. The result is notable, it reduced the acne marks and brightened my skin, but the overall using experience is not good. Recommend to normal, combination, and oily skins, not the one for dry and sensitive skin. CLINIQUE - Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10%

Old vs. New: Skin Brightening Serums 🍊
Old vs. New: Skin Brightening Serums 🍊
I feel like regardless of who you are most people deal with some form of hyperpigmentation issues. Personally, I have slight acne prone skin which leads to dark marks once the blemish has healed. I work at Ulta and I’ve always heard good things from my coworkers about the Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum so I decided to buy a mini to try. Murad - I was pleasantly surprised to find the mini of this serum lasted me about two months! For $20 you don’t get a lot of product but a little bit does go a long way. I used one pump in the morning all over my face. It’s a gel consistency that does smooth over the face but it is a tad bit sticky. That being said when I put my moisturizer on top I didn’t notice that. I feel like within the first month I started seeing results which amazed me. A year ago I had major acne break outs all over my chin which left a lot of dark marks. Within a month of using this serum the dark marks lightened up about 60%! After about a month though I did see the product plateau. It could be the fact they were already pretty lightened up but I didn’t see much of a difference within month two. Because of this, the price of the product, and the fact that alcohol was the second ingredient on the list I decided not to repurchase this serum. Instead I was gifted the GOOD MOLECULES - Daily Brightening Serum Good Molecules - I’ve only used this a few times but so far I’m hopeful. The price point is a lot better! For $9 you get 1 oz of product. It contains beta arbutin which will target dullness and inhibit melanin production. The serum is a lot more lightweight. It absorbs really nice into the skin and doesn’t feel sticky or tacky like the Murad can. It’s a water based formula so it works well under make up. I also like the fact that it has hyaluronic acid so instead of drying your skin out like the alcohol in the Murad can this actually adds moisture into your skin. I also use this in the morning. As much as I liked the Murad and did see results I can’t justify the price nor do I like the fact alcohol is the second ingredient. I like the price and ingredient list a lot more on the Good Molecules serum. 🍊🧡

Super Vitamin C!
Super Vitamin C!
After trying this super vitamin C serum by Cosmedica Skincare I truly believe that having a vitamin C serum is a must in our skincare collection. Vitamin C serum has a lot of great benefits such antioxidant benefits by helping repair damaged skin cells. It also helps with dark spots and helps nourish our skin. These are the few of many benefits of vitamin C. After clearing my skin from acne I got left with dark spots and acne scars. There were a few products that helped clear a few of my acne however I still breakout and this time my main concern was dark spots. After using this product for almost 2 weeks I have seen improvement on my skin especially my dark spots. Most serums have a silky like texture and fast absorbing. This vitamin C serum feels like a gel lotion type of texture it is light weight but when it’s applied to the skin it does feel a little sticky. I am not a fan of sticky serums because sometimes it does not absorb quickly to the skin; However, the sticky feeling goes away after a few minutes and it slowly penetrates to your skin because it is an antioxidant; antioxidants slowly help repair our skin from radical damages. What I like is that it leaves your skin feeling smooth and radiant. As I have sensitive skin at I was aware about the tangy smell I was afraid that it would make my skin irritate but there was no skin reaction. I really loved how my skin glowed even after my moisturizer. I recommend this product if you have dull skin, help reduce any dark spots or acne scars. If one of your concerns is the elasticity of your skin I recommend this because vitamin C helps boost collagen production. I recommend this for people in their 20s and older. A tip on Vitamin C serums: I recommend using tapping motions instead of circular motions because it is an acid and you want to irritate your skin by using circular motions. If you are using vitamin C in the morning do NOT forget to put sunscreen as vitamin C makes your skin sensitive to sunlight. cosmedica SKINCARE - Vitamin C Super Serum
