Luxury? Worth it or over spending? *Dry skin*
Is luxury skincare worth it or are we over paying for packaging and a brand name? Read about my luxury skincare collection below.
As much as a skincare junkie (and hoarder?) I am, my luxury skincare collection is actually pretty small.
Now what do I consider LUXURY?
Brands like Tatcha, Tata Harper, La Mer, AmorePacifc, Dr. Barbara Sturm, Sunday Riley, DIOR..etc. Anything that is $50+ and not something you would necessarily need at such a high price point.
Some of my Luxury products:
seiso JBEAUTY - Fuwafuwa Foaming Cleanser
This is great for my dry skin and when my skin barrier is in need of repairing. It’s a cleanser that gets the job done while leaving you with hydrated and glowing skin. This is priced at $38 and let’s be real.. that’s a bit steep for a cleanser, but the technology and ingredients + how long it has lasted me makes this worth the price.
PURCHASE FOR SURE! Worth it ✨
seiso JBEAUTY - Ceramide Moisture Milk
This is one of the most expensive serums I’ve ever owned. $95 and as much as it feels great and shows improvement of my skin.. it’s not a repurchase for me unless I have $100 to just drop for no reason.
INSTEAD I’d recommend
Krave - Great Barrier Relief
Read more about SeisoJ Beauty in my ‘LUXURY FOR DRY SKIN - Ceramide skincare’ post.
TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream
Eh. This isn’t a moisturizer that I will reach for. IMO tatcha is a brand that you are paying for the hype and fancy packaging. There are many alternatives without robbing the bank to maintain plump and hydrated skin. $68 for a moisturizer is pretty steep for me.
PASS. Find something else.
It’s safe to say that all skincare is trial and error. If you are able to and willing to spend a good amount of money on a product then to each their own! Lower priced products are majority of the time no different, just not as luxurious packaging, but shows up for results for your skin.

CERAMIDES! What & why? ALL SKIN TYPES.
Ever heard of a healthy skin barrier? Are you using products with ingredients that help the skin barrier?
Let me introduce to you, CERAMIDES.
Ceramides occur naturally in the uppermost layers of our skin. They are lipids (fats) that help form our skin barrier and retain moisture. Ceramides also protect our skin from environmental aggressors.
Why do we need them?
As we age and our sun damage increases, we loose our natural ceramides. Not enough ceramides means a compromised skin barrier aka dry, itchy, and irritated skin.
What do Ceramides in skincare do?
They help rebuild and reinforce our skin barrier, increase hydration and decrease skin’s signs of sensitivity. Basically plumper, smoother, firmer, and less irritated skin!
What skin type needs ceramides?
ALL SKIN TYPES! Since Ceramides are natural and part of our skin, everyone can use products with Ceramides in them.
Ingredients list!
Most of the time it’s pretty obvious, products will say the word Ceramide, but they can also be identified as phytosphinogosine and sphingosine aka ingredients that get the skin into making ceramides.
To sum it all up! Ceramides help keep our skim barrier in tip top shape! A good skin barrier means healthy skin!
My favorite Ceramide products are listed below!

skincare from around the world!
My skin type: combination, sensitive, acne prone
My skin concerns: hyperpigmentation, rosacea
SAND&SKY - Australian Pink Clay Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment
+ Australia based beauty brand!
+ a wash off mask that is both chemical and physical exfoliant
+ for use, you’re supposed to gently buff it into the skin, and then leave on for ten minutes & then rinse off. If you have sensitive skin, they suggest not buffing into the skin but just gently patting it on and then washing off.
+ I use this twice a month, it’s a little strong for me. The clay is a bit drying and doesn’t work well for my skin type.
+ very abrasive even when patted on, hard to rinse off as well.
+ won this in a giveaway but can be bought on their site
+ $42.90, a little steep for what it is.
SOL de Janeiro - Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
+ Brazil based!
+ the best body lotion & maybe the only one I’ll use forever haha
+ smells like caramel and vanilla and a bit nutty as well
+ sinks in so freaking fast! Best for when you’re in a rush and stays moisturizing all day.
+ very large tub and lasts a while even with continuous use, I use it every day after I shower!
+ purchased from Sephora but can be bought on their site
+ $45, pricey for a lotion but it’s def worth the experience
SNP - Prep Cicaronic Toning Essence
+ Korea based!
+ love love love this toner, I will apply with a cotton pad (PM) or just my fingers (AM) most days, I would say I use this 8x a week.
+ very mild formula, mostly water I think haha
+ helps heal my moisture barrier and good for my combo skin!
+ very soothing, calms redness easily! Cica is truly magical.
+ gifted by the brand but can be purchased on their site
+ scent is a little medicinal, but doesn’t bother me.
+ $15.99 and the bottle is huge.
seiso JBEAUTY - Fuwafuwa Foaming Cleanser
+ Japan based!
+ probably the only foaming cleanser I own that doesn’t strip my skin or break me out.
+ ph balanced with rice and coconut
+ a bit clarifying
+ I use this 3x a week at night!
+ very gentle and very very light foam, super cleansing but doesn’t make me feel squeaky clean
+ smells nice and light, almost no fragrance.
+ gifted by the brand but can be purchased on their site
+ $38, huge bottle so it lasts a while as well.

Fourth Ray Serums!
If you’ve seen some of my other reviews you may already, I enjoy fragrances in products. I think they can make me want to use a product before I can see results. However, if you are not a fan of fragrances these are not the serums for you. I have been using these for about a month and have seen some pretty good results so far. I apply all three at once, one dropper full of Rainfall, and two drops of Avocado & Aloe and Radiant.
Fourth Ray - Rainfall 2% Hyaluronic Acid Serum
This is my least favorite of the three, I feel like a basic hyaluronic acid serum does not have to be that expensive. Instead I recommend the Ordinary’s 2% hyaluronic serum + B6 as it is almost a third of the price and adds B5.
I love the scent of this serum but it’s a bit much for such a basic formula.
It does a good job of bringing moisture to my skin but is a bit tackier than the Ordinary serum I recommended above.
I generally feel like I have to use a lot (too much) of this serum to cover my entire face each time.
I just don’t think this serum is worth it especially considering its price and ingredients.
Fourth Ray - Avocado + Aloe Double Shot Face Serum
I would like to say that this serum does not smell like avocados or aloe, which is great because I do not particularly enjoy the smell of either. The scent instead is fresh, more generally plant like, but pleasant all together.
This is jam pack with phytonutrients which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
This serum feels nice on my skin and leaves it nice and nourished.
Biggest con of this serum is that the bottle gets super oily and can leave a mark on fabric or paper depending where you store it.
Fourth Ray - Raydiate Vitamin C Elixir
This is by far my favorite serum of the three. I have seen a lot of improvement in the brightness of my skin since I started using it.
I have seen acne scars fade and developing acne scars going away before sticking
It smells like oranges and definitely has to be shaken well to be used properly.
I like the formula as it is not too oily and feels like a serum still.
Top ingredients are natural sources of vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and turmeric (all of which have skin tone balancing benefits.
Biggest con of this serum is that the bottle gets super oily and can leave a mark on fabric or paper depending where you store it.
I think for 0.5oz of each of these, $15 was definitely worth it. Give them a try and let me know what you think of them!

Brightening serum + oil in one
The Fourth Ray - Raydiate Vitamin C Elixir is such a cool idea to me: as you can see, there are two layers to the product, and you gently shake the bottle to combine the serum and the oil together. This claims to enhance skin radiance, and while I’ve only used it a few times, I really love the mositurizing texture from the oil—I think this might also soothe potential mild irritation from the vitamin C. While there are many differences between the two products, the Biossance squalane + vitamin c oil has a similar idea (a moisturizing oil with the brightening properties of vitamin c), so if you’re turned off by the price point of the Biossance one, I suggest trying this one! It also has turmeric in it, which is a great anti-inflammatory, and hyaluronic acid, which is great for adding and retaining moisture.

More Reviews
It’s time for a review on the jkosmmune products that I have been using for the past 4 weeks. Long story short... I’m really impressed and loving this line!
The main ingredient that sets them apart is beta glucan. It is said to be more hydrating than hyaluronic acid, so from the start I was here for it. When I did a little more research I discovered it’s main purpose is actually to help soothe redness and that is something I always look for and have been impressed with after using their products! Their products are also cruelty free, vegan friendly, fragrance free, and gluten free. Free of parabens, ethanol, mineral oil, silicon, talc, benzophenone, paraffin, and phenoxyethenal.
◾️The cleanser: I am obsessed with the fact that the enzyme powder cleanser comes in individual single use packets. Talk about travel friendly. When you add water and mix in your hands the powder suds up and goes on the skin smoothly. They recommend to let it sit for 20 seconds but sometimes I do a little longer. When I rinse my skin feels so clean and soft! It’s 99.9% beta glucan and papaya-derived enzyme.
◾️The toner: As anyone who follows me knows, I’ve been obsessed with the indie lee toner and how hydrating it is. This toner is in direct competition! I’ll never get rid of my Indie Lee, but I will definitely be purchasing the jksommune one and will have both in my routine! I love using them in the morning for extra hydration on my dry skin. It’s alcohol free and feels nourishing and hydrating!
◾️The serum: I have really been enjoying this serum so far. I have very dry skin with fine lines and this serum is very hydrating and makes my skin feel plump and supple. I’m excited to keep using it and see long term results!
◾️The lotion: I will admit this one I’ve used the least amount because I totally neglect my body (really planning to work on that), but the ingredients sound great and my dry skin needs hydration so I’m excited to use this more! I haven’t used it on my face yet but curious to see how it will work! I have so many moisturizers and to be honest didn’t realize this could be used on the face!
Fresh af Morning Routine ☀️
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser great for all skin types as it cleans without stripping.
CAUDALIE - Grape Water great refreshing water filled with a great antioxidant, resveratrol which is anti-aging as well. Perfect before makeup, after makeup, during the day or as a refresher💁🏼♀️
THAYERS - Cucumber Facial Mist mine doesn’t have a mister, but this product is awesome and does not irritate at all. I even use it on my eyes and there’s zero stinging. Leaves your skin prepared for your other skin caring steps. Goos to use as a cleanser before makeup when your feeling lazy 😅
FARMACY - Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherry
Good serum, not bothersome, could be a bit tingly when you start using it if you’re sensitive. Skin looks brighter but it’s definitely a slower worker than other vitamin C’s. I would say the serumy consistency and other soothing ingredients make it a recommendation from me to my sensitive skin peers out there.
(MALIN+GOETZ) - Revitalizing eye gel
Definitely a gel but it’s almost a cream gel hybrid. My undereyes are really dry and this product really hydrates them and serves as an undereye primer as well without feeling like a grease ball. Definitely recommend if you’re undereyes are dry and need some hydration (*not moisturizing just hydration*)
Curél - Moisture Facial Milk
Great day time moisturizer especially for summer time and for those who have dry/normal to oily skin. Not those it only protect your skin barrier with it’s ceramide filled formula but it softens and hydrates, keeping skin smooth and supple. Tip: if you want more hydration or glow just add some drops of any oil you have or mix it with another moisturizer that might be to heavy on it’s own and voila, you got yourself a summer time moisturizer ✨👌🏻
L'ORÉAL - Pure-clay Cleansing Mask for Dull Skin definitely brightens and pulls gunk out from the skin, the only downside would be that it is pretty drying but when you’re skin feels really congested and gross I definitely recommend this.
Tip: use as spot treatment to suck out the inflammation and gunk from the pimples.
Hope as always that you found my reviews useful and my video informative any questions feel free to always ask🧡
Ps. I used Good Molecules Niacinamide before applying the Vit C. Sorry it wasn’t recording😫
THAYERS-Cucumber Facial Mist
Boujiee skincare nights✨
Well this was recorded before I gave my final verdict on May Lindstrom’s Blue Cocoon, so at this time it was still on my trial period; I have a full dedicated review to it, if you want more info please read it🙏🏼😌
Let’s start reviewing:
ARCONA - Night Worker
I just wish it was a true serum. Other than that it smells nice, like peaches or apricot; it’s mostly clean and has really good sourced ingredients; made in the USA; it’s a smaller company and they produce products freshly. The consistency is like a cream so if you have dry skin/normal or combo/dry, this will work greatly for you as it doesn’t irritate at all. Also the Vitamin C is stable as the container is completely opaque and has a pump which is also great. Definitely see some brightening action and smoothing of the fine lines in my forehead.
SkinMedica - Retinol Complex 1.0
It is really gentle for being a 1%, I assume it’s due to it being encapsulated retinol, which means it gets released slowly and not all at once. Definitely no irritation even when I use my DE glycolic serum/gel and followed it with this. I just wished, again, that the consistency was more thin. Other than that great formula and packaging keeps everything stable as well.
facetheory - PoreBright Serum N10
I feel like it has definitely help with my acne, as I started breaking out due to hormonal imbalances and this helped greatly. I do however like the Good molecules Niacinamide as it’s cheaper and has zero stickiness to it and absorbs quicker. I am mixing this with my Chanel Le Blanc lotion and that helps this product sink in way faster as well as to not have that sticky feeling.
facetheory - Regena C20 Serum
I have to further keep using it, but right now it has given me zero irritation, has great ingredients and other brighteners besides vit C and sinks right in.
may lindstrom skin - The Blue Cocoon
Please read my review on this.
BURT’S BEES - Rosewater Toner
Love it, great for texture! Wish it had less alcohol.
Chanel Le Blanc Lotion ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
As usual, 5 stars, I have reviewed it multiple times and just can’t get over what a great product it is.
Aesop - Gentle Facial Cleansing Milk
It’s okay. Nothing exorbitant. I would say it’s good if you have really dry skin or for the winter months.
Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Smoothing Gel Exfoliator 150ml
Smells great, leaves my skin soft as a baby’s behind, really small exfoliating beads, none irritating, good price, lasts a long time and doubles as cleanser after taking your makeup off, of course.
GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Face Mask
For now I give it 4 stars as I need to use it for a longer period of time. Good thing’s about it: doesn’t irritate or make my eyes water, hydrates and smoothens. Wish it wasn’t in a jar.

There aren’t many ingredients in the formula which means each ingredient is present at a much higher %, which could mean they could better deliver to their associated benefits. IL below:

My routine for coming spring❤️
My skin is dry in autumn and winter, and mixed in summer. The main skin concerns are acne marks and scars. So every time I do the skin care, the most concerned is how to do well in moisturizing and how to fade acne marks. My routine usually first use cleansing cream, then toner and cream, the last essence. Following I will share my personal routine.
It has been spring recently, so the skin is not so dry as the winter, so I changed my cleansing foam to the Estee lauder. The name is super-pomegranate radiant energy cleansing foam. This kind of facial cleanser is very durable, and can cover the whole face with a little squeeze at a time. Its bubble is very rich, I use it with Luna face cleanser. After foaming, gently massage the whole face with the cleanser. Then wash the water with clean water. Your skin will feel fine and smooth, even brightening up.
ESTĒE LAUDER - Nutritious Super-Pomegranate Radiant Energy 2-in-1 Cleansing Foam
But it should be noted that this product is especially suitable for people with oily skin. For dry skin, it is best to use it only in spring and summer. Because of its powerful cleaning effect, if it is used in the case of particularly dry skin, it may cause skin sensitivity and redness.
The next step is to use SK-II facial treatment essence. I'm a big fan of this essence. I've been using it in all seasons. Although it is essence, I have always used it as lotions. After cleansing the face, pour out a little on the cotton pad, pat the skin gently, it is very easy to be absorbed by skin. It can help skin lock moisture, and can add other functional essence.
SK-II - Facial Treatment Essence (Pitera Essence)
After using SK-II essence, I will use Guerlain abeille royale youth watery oil. This step is the key to my moisturizing. The rich glycerin ingredients in the oil make my skin very moist. Finally, I use La Mer the concentrate to solve the acne mark problem of the skin. Its function is to smooth the redness of the skin and promote the self-healing of the skin. It is more suitable for season change or acne scar removal, there is not much need to use every day. But it does a good job on fade acne marks and scars. Generally, the newly born red acne can be faded after one night's application.
GUERLAIN - Bee Glow Youth Moisturizer
LA MER - LA MER The Concentrate
I usually use this routine all year round. The biggest difference is that I may change the parts of facial cleanser and moisturizer. But for SK-II and La Mer, I will not change. I've been doing this for about three years before making up in the morning and skin care at night.
GUERLAIN-Bee Glow Youth Moisturizer
Trying new products. Versed, lamer, biossance✨
Starting off as always, with my trusty YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser
I did used my pmd - pmd Clean Pro but my footage got cut off 🙃
BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Mask
I will not review it yet as I need to use it more than once. But upon first impressions it felt good on the skin, glides on smoothly and doesn’t sting nor dries the skin out. It’s a creamy consistency but it does not run. So far so good 💁🏼♀️ will update*
GROWN ALCHEMIST - Polishing Facial Exfoliant
I will return the exfoliating paste from Aesop, this is waaaay superior and has a nice texture not to mention smells amazing & it exfoliates while being gentle enough!💖
*I will do a dedicated product vs product review soon.
-UPDATED-
Then I went in with VERSED - WEEKEND GLOW toner. Can’t really go wrong affordable, great ingredients, smells super great and awesome for traveling; plus it is clean and cruelty free. As for brightening effects I’ve used it only twice and will have to see. It doesn’t sting nor it doesn’t dry out my face which I feel would be a good everyday toner as they suggest. *will update*
Sooo TONERS... 👀 I double toned (if that’s even a thing), I got the cocokind - Raspberry vinegar toner and decided to spray it afterwards as a treatment toner rather than a toner, toner! 😂. Let me tell you the toner is REALLY strong, feels more like an astringent and will burn if acne is present or skin is sensitive. NOT for those with sensitive skin, unless diluted.
• Then I used my lovely Le Blanc Lotion by Chanel as usual five stars ✨
• After I used my serums in the following order:
VERSED - ON THE RISE FIRMING SERUM I cannot say if it has done anything yet in terms of firmness and wrinkles as this takes more time. But the ingredients are phenomenal and for $20 you can’t really go wrong. Definitely will keep you guys updated!*
BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum
So far feels nice on the skin & left it really soft. Smells amazing. Gave it 4 starts since I need to see what it does in terms of texture. I did make the mistake of using this one first and then the retinol. In terms of consistency the latter is more runny and needs to be applied before this one.
BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum I need to try it more before giving a final verdict. So far it feels good, has a lightweight consistency; it’s like a really light cream that turns into a serum and sinks in quite fast. The smell is definitely natural, not strong & dissipates quickly. And lastly, it’s definitely really gentle on the skin, no peeling, burning or dryness.
BIOSSANCE - Radiantly Rose Duo
Bang for your buck definitely worth trying! Perfect for those who hate a greasy oil.
LA MER - LA MER The Moisturizing Soft Cream
Holygrail❤️
