Hey there,sugar
Hey there,sugar
The SMELL on this babe! It smells amazinggggg. Loving this SKINFOOD - Black Sugar Honey Mask Wash Off . I love how it feels going on and then love rubbing it in and exfoliating when rinsing off. The scrub has larger pieces but isn’t irritating. Love as a makeup prep step to get all the dead skin off befofe doing a face. The sugar granules exfoliate but apparently sugar is also a humectant which means it draws moisture from the environment into the skin, providing great hydration! How I use it: after toner, before moisturizer

Best Beauty Brands for Deep Complexions 💗
Best Beauty Brands for Deep Complexions 💗
As a makeup artist I have always priotrtized having a diverse range of products to suite all of my clients. Sadly Ive heard the same stories from my darker skin toned model’s too many times. I listen intintely as they expressed their frustrations about beauty industry inclusivity and not being able to find products that were made with them in mind. Since my start as a makeup artist there has been so much improvement when it comes to finding shades of foundations, lipsticks, blushes and bronzers that compliment beautiful rich, deep skin tones. See some of my favorites below! MAC Cosmetics - MAC is considered one of the most iconic brands and rightfully so. They came out as an inclusive makeup line with their well known tagline “All Ages, All Races, All Genders”. As a makeup artist MAC offered some of the best shade ranges and to this day I still carry a variety of their lipsticks/liners as a go to for darker skin tones. The variety of color range makes it really easy to find nudes, color and bold reds that look absolutely stunning on deep skin tones. MAC - Ruby Woo Lip Duo Danessa Myricks - If you havent tried Danessa Myricks Cosmetics then where have you been? Danessa’s foundation range is impeccable and can also be mixed with other bases to create a custom shade. Danessa also makes products with formulas with the deepest skin tones in mind, no worries about an ashy or gray finish. The Dew Wet Balm’s give the perfect glow with out being chalky. DANESSA MYRICKS BEAUTY - Dew Wet Balm I love using this on my clients with deeper skin because seeing their faces light up when they realize how effortless achieving radient highlighted skin can be with the right products. Colourpop - Chalky shadows are the worst thing ever evented. Finding pigments that show up bright on deep skin tones can sometimes be a challenge. As soon as I tried Colourpop’s eyeshadows, specifically their supershock shadows, I knew I had to add these to my kit. The variety of colors makes it really easy to find untraditional colors like greens, yellows, and blues that actually deliver great color payoff. COLOURPOP - Colourpop Super Shock Pigment

DUPES! 🙌Part 1 of 2
DUPES! 🙌Part 1 of 2
Who ISN'T a fan of dupes?! Everyone has a different definition of a "dupe." Some people have quite strict requirements. For me, the two products have to be similar enough in texture and give me similar results. I'd say I'm rather lenient when it comes to what qualifies as a dupe. ✨ Ever since I saw Mariah Leonard's most recent Youtube video where she called these two products dupes, I can't stop thinking about it! I couldn't believe they had been sitting in my collection for MONTHS without me even putting together how similar they are. 🤍 ($18) COSRX ULTIMATE NOURISHING RICE OVERNIGHT SPA MASK COSRX - Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask 🤍 ($48) SUMMER FRIDAYS JET LAG MASK SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask I will be the first to admit these are not perfect dupes. However, the textures and results make them similar enough to qualify as a dupe for me! Texture: The textures are similar, both are a white "cream." However, Jet Lag is much thicker in texture while the COSRX has almost a gel-like consistency. Scent: COSRX has no added fragrance and no scent, which I appreciate. Jet Lag smells (and feels) minty to me, probably due to the peppermint oil. INGREDIENTS Both contain Niacinamide. I appreciate that the first ingredient in the COSRX is 68% Rice Extract (it appears to have no water), and Jet Lag's first ingredient is water. In terms of full ingredients, Jet Lag has quite a bit more skin-loving ingredients over the COSRX like shea butter, ceramides and HA. Jet Lag contains some essential oils which may cause skin sensitivity. The ingredients in these two products are actually very different. When deciding between the two, you have to take into consideration the pros/cons of both. Do you want the longer ingredient list with a few more beneficial ingredients, or do you want the shorter ingredient list with the high concentration of the one main ingredient? In my opinion, I prefer the COSRX over Summer Fridays in terms of texture and results. While the packaging is ~*aesthetic vibes,~* Jet Lag just did not deliver on the hyped-up results that everyone else was obsessing over. And if I'm going to get similar results from both, you can bet I'd rather spend $18 over $48!

A great gel-cream for acne prone or oily skin
A great gel-cream for acne prone or oily skin
I stumbled upon this in a Shoppers Drug Mart and I was shocked because I had no idea Versed was available in 🇨🇦! I instantly grabbed a bunch of different products to try out. I’m so excited there is another solid & affordable brand to get from the drugstores here. So far, this has been one of my favourite products. Something that I really like about this product / brand is that like most gel creams, they are not for everyone and Versed actually added into their description on the site who this would be best suited for (people dealing with warmer weather or oily / acne prone skin types). It feels very transparent and I’m glad they point this out versus just claiming this hydrates and is good for all skin types. The good: + It’s super lightweight on the skin and didn’t break me out at all. + Once you apply this your skin feels moisturized but not greasy. Just a little dewy like they mention in the name. + Absorbs quickly into the skin and never reacts badly under SPF or makeup. + Even though it doesn’t feel heavy, my skin does stay hydrated throughout the day. + Key ingredients include (listed by highest in the ingredient list to lower): Glycerin (humectant that pulls water in), Squalane (emollient that hydrates the skin & antioxidant), Aloe Leaf Juice (soothes and hydrates), Cammellia sinesis leaf extract (antioxidant from green tea), Jojoba seed oil (another emollient) and Sodium Hyaluronate (an ultimate moisturizer also known as Hyaluronic Acid). + For those with sensitive skin, this has no fragrance. + I think you get a pretty good amount of product in this tube. For $20, you get 60ml of product which is 13ml more than you get with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost. + I actually really like this packaging. This squeezey tube setup feels a little bit more hygienic than the tubs of moisturizer (no hate, I still use those). + Vegan & cruelty-free. The not so good: - As with most affordable gel creams, this might not be enough moisture if you have any dry patches on your face. I do have a couple areas right now that feel a bit drier than usual and I do feel the need to use a hyaluronic acid serum to amp up the hydration. Personally, this doesn’t bug me too much that I need to supplement in those areas, but if you have drier skin you may want to try out another moisturizer that provides more heavy duty moisture. Worth it? For sure. You get a good amount of product (more than the average gel-cream), it has great ingredients, it works and it’s just $20. ☑️ Will I repurchase? I definitely expect to buy this again. It would be so good for travelling and just general everyday routines. I do suspect that come the colder months I will need something a little more heavy duty (can you believe it’s already September!) at night time. But come Spring, I bet it will become a staple in my routine. Ps I have combo, acne prone skin :)

✨ I got Kate somervilles exfolikate in a fabfitfun box and fell in love! I fell less in love when I went to buy more and saw it was 85$ for 2 oz!!! 😱😱😱 ✨ Exfolikate features enzyme, chemical and physical exfoliation. It uses papaya enzymes, lactic acid and silica beads. (I would not have used this if I had known from the beginning it used silica beads) ✨ I’ve been trying to get out every last drop while trying to find a product that could give me the same results but for way less! ✨ In comes pixi peel and polish you get 2.75 oz for 25$ ✨ Pixi features enzyme, physical and physical exfoliation as well! It uses papaya extract, lactic acid and sugar can as it’s physical exfoliation. (Thank goodness for no silica beads) ✨ I just started using pixi it uses the same directions as exfolikate rub on moistened skin for 30 seconds and leave on for no more then 2 minutes! I love it just as much and it’s so much cheaper!! ✨
