WORST SKINCARE OF 2020!
My last post was on my picks for the best 2020 skincare, but now we’re talking about the worst skincare products. Unfortunately there’s a lot of bad products out there, especially with skincare becoming a huge trend. Keep in mind these are my opinions and thoughts, and everyone’s skin is different. Cleanser: For cleaner I’ve chosen The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser
Deep clean clogged pores
Acne scars toners

MaddieAmarafor anyone wondering why mario badescu is bad for your skin: they put steroids in their products so it makes you keep buying their items, when someone tries to stop using it their skin gets irritated and breaks out, your skin gets addicted to it after awhile. the only thing that’s ok is the drying lotion

The BEST DUPE for St. Ives Apricot Scrub
A hot topic right now is discussing how damaging the ST. Ives - Acne Control Face Scrub With Salicylic Acid I’m sure we all have used this scrub once in our lives and can say how much we regret it. On the bright side, I’m happy to share my amazing dupe for this scrub that won’t cause micro tears and irritation to the skin! CLARISMA - Malibu Blush Exfoliating Scrub is by far the best scrub on the market and I do not say this lightly. I have acne prone sensitive skin and most scrubs are way too harsh on my skin. However, this scrub is so gentle and helps me maintain clear, smooth skin! I use this scrub 1-2x a week depending on how my skin is feeling. The three main ingredients are; Neem, Pineapple, and Luffa Fruit! Neem has great antibacterial properties and helps reduce inflammation. Pineapple is used to brighten and exfoliate the skin with the enzymes derived from it. Lastly, the Luffa Fruit are the particles that act as the physical exfoliant and breakdown as you press into them. If you try this dupe, let me know what you think!
Say “bye bye” to St. Ives forever! ✌🏼
Alright, Q&A time! Who here has tried the St. Ives scrub? 🙋🏼♀️ Who here noticed a positive difference in their skin after using this scrub? 🙋🏼♀️ Who here believed this scrub was a game changer and possibly recommended this to multiple friends? 🙋🏼♀️ Alright... What about....... Who here realized walnut shell scrubs are actually harmful for your skin and can cause micro tears that can worsen over the years? 🙋🏼♀️ Who here did research and learned that your skin is actually quite delicate compared to the rest of your skin on your body and that your skin needs to be treated with lots of extra TLC? 🙋🏼♀️ Who here knows now that we need to use chemical exfoliants instead of physical exfoliants? 🙋🏼♀️ Okay, nowwww.... Who here is trying to find a product to replace the St. Ives scrub in their bathroom? Because I found a pretttttttty dope replacement for y’all. 🤗 I’ve been using CeraVe’s SA facial wash in place of my St. Ives, and the results are pretty similar... but better because it’s waaay more gentle on your skin! Buckle down and do some research, sis! This could be the answer you’ve been searching for 🥳 Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask down below! Xoxo Xenia Oh P.S. SA stands for Salicylic Acid, so if you’re sensitive to BHAs, use with caution. Always, always introduce new products gradually into your skin care routine and/or patch test before using. 😘

Brands I won't be reviewing (part 2)
I promised a part two to this (so if you haven't, take a look at part 1). I'm not saying you can't purchase these brands. I just personally won't be and consequently won't be reviewing them (because I buy everything I review). Juice beauty for not providing helpful customer service. I personally do not care for their brand after I got into skincare and bought their JUICE BEAUTY - Green Apple Brightening Gel Cleanser . As I got deeper into the skincare world, I found out that their second ingredient is citrus medica limonum (lemon juice) which is irritating and can cause photosensitivity. Even though it is a wash off treatment it has me skeptical because of how high on the ingredients list it is. I saw their ad on facebook and decided to politely voice my concern and ask why they felt it was a good ingredient. They not only deleted my comment, but banned me from being able to comment on their future ads. This to me shows a lack of transparency. I decided to take my concern and turn it into a review for their webpage. It has never been posted on their website even though it has been months ago. They have still only allowed 1 one star review on their website which shows me that the company filters their reviews. I know they are not the only brand that does this, but I do not care to support it. Kylie skin... There is a reason why I am skeptical about celebrity brands and this does not help. For one they made KYLIE COSMETICS - Walnut Face Scrub and if you don't know for the most part physical exfoliants (unless uniformly shaped and edges have been rounded down on a microscopic level) are not good! They can leave microtears in your skin leaving your skin vulnerable. As you can imagine chunks of walnut are not good to use as an exfoliant and will be overly abrasive. Other products (KYLIE COSMETICS - Detox Face Mask and KYLIE COSMETICS - KYLIE COSMETICS Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Face Sunscreen ) have been taken from other brands with very similar ingredients lists, but have been altered to be less effective and therefore cheaper (well the sunscreen was more of a direct copy of supergoop... Let's be real). Overall I'm not impressed. Her skincare isn't innovative and made for us in mind. Instead just used to line pockets of people who are already rolling in it. Mario Badescu secretly using steroids in their products which is extremely dangerous for their customers. Steroids for one should never be used on your face without a dermatologist’s recommendation or prescription. When used for a long period of time, it can lead to long term effects when not taken off of them correctly. When some people found this out, they had already been using their products for a long period of time and consequently, when switching to a new product, had long term effects. I also do not like any of their facial sprays (MARIO BADESCU - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater ) because they are heavily fragranced.
Hate it? Don’t toss it! Repurpose it!

2020 empties and new goodies!!
here are all of my 2020 empties!!! i went ahead and categorized them by brand so that i dont get things mixed up. etude house ——————— ETUDE - SoonJung pH6.5 Whip Cleanser my favorite fungal acne safe cleanser!! its perfect for dry combo skin! ETUDE - Etude House SoonJung pH 5.5 Relief Toner a great fungal acne safe hydrating toner! better for dry skin, it would sometimes leave me oily at the end of the day. drunk elephant ————————— DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum although this serum isn’t fungal acne safe, my skin seems to enjoy it. it has a gel texture and actually regulates my oily forehead DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream another non fungal acne safe products. BUT doesn’t cause me to have breakouts!! its a thicc cream but doesn’t leave me feeling oily!! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream Deluxe Sample again... not fungal acne safe but STILL didn’t cause me to have any breakouts!! the protini feels similar in terms of thickness and the over all feeling on the skin but it feels more “ wearable “ first aid beauty ————————— FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Oil-Control Moisturizer i was super excited to tey this out because the ingredients are fungal acne safe and the claims were ideal for my skin type but sadly i was disappointed 😞 it didn’t control my oil but rather left mw with this shine on my forehead! and it didn’t moisture my dry cheeks. epic fail FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Coconut Water Cream this is a very basic fungal acne safe moisturizer i recommend to literally every one. i do like it and all but i find my skin still breaking out while i use this product. i would give it a 3 1/2 stars but i cant. CUROLOGY!!!! ———————— Curology - Curology formula Curology - Curology formula if you have fungal acne THIS is the treatment you NEED to try!!! my holy grail!! naturium ————— NATURIUM - Marine Hyaluronic Water Cream NATURIUM - Marine Hyaluronic Water Cream technically this moisturizer isn’t fungal acne safe because it contains polysorbate HOWEVER its one of the last ingredients listed so its not likely to have any affect. this is my FAVORITE MOISTURIZER!!! super affordable and feels luxurious and its amazing on my combo skin NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% my favorite fungal acne safe niacinamide serum!!! its affordable and it does exactly what it claims to do. literally cant get any better than this other lonely products ————————————- boscia - Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer this is a fungal acne safe moisturizer however its not very good at moisturizing or controlling oil 😕 but the packaging is cute i guess
Acne Skin Duo
I have enjoyed using these over the past week. They have worked in tandem to overall improve the texture of my skin and are slowly ridding my skin of pesky acne. Glossier. - Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector I honestly thought this product would smell like straight up chemicals but was pleasantly surprised when it smelled similar to a witch hazel toner. The active ingredient in this is 0.5% salicylic acid. I have to admit I have not used a toner in quite some time, but the salicylic acid was what drew me to the product in the first place. I got five salicylic acid chemical peels done last year which improved my skin greatly, needless to say I have high hopes for this product. I like how simple the application process of using this process is and how well the pump works in the bottle. The only thing I really dislike about this product is that you need cotton rounds to use it properly. Glossier. - Priming Moisturizer Balance My face isn’t shiny! This mattifying primer does what it says it is supposed to. I have found when I use this in the morning it takes a lot longer for my face to become shiny and oily during the day. This product has no overpowering scents to bother sensitive skin. I dislike that I have to use two to three pumps to cover my face, especially since the bottle is so small. I say give the Refine duo from Glossier a try if you struggle with shiny combination skin and stubborn acne!

🖤⭐️ Empties and Replacements ⭐️🖤
Hey, friends! Here are two more empties and their replacements! I got HERBIVORE - Bamboo Charcoal Detoxifying Soap Bar at the beginning of December because I was looking for a body soap that would help with my back acne. At first, I only used this bar on my back (shoulders) and chest because those are my most problematic spots. I started seeing results around 1 week after consistent use. On the days when I felt lazy and didn’t want to use two bar soaps I would use this one all over and I started to realize it was helping reduce the redness and bumps on my upper arms. I never knew what caused the bumps and redness but I know it runs in my family (my mom always told me it was eczema). But this bar soap seemed to help a lot, so I expanded and started using it all over my body. It’s really worked wonders and kept the acne away from my body. Very impressed with this product AND I feel less wasteful because it’s a bar soap and comes in a cardboard container (No Plastic!). The only bad thing I would say would be that it didn’t last me as long as I would have liked for the price, but I repurchased because I’m hoping to get rid of the redness on my arms completely! Next I have The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser which I’ve talked about before. Love this as a first wash during a double cleanse at night (removes all my makeup and keeps my skin feeling clean without stripping it). It’s super cheap and I love this brand however again the only problem would be that this small bottle doesn’t last very long (maybe lasted me a month) but the bigger bottle is all sold out everywhere I look! I guess a lot of people agree with me on this cleanser. Hopefully next replacement can be a bigger bottle! 🙏🏻 What products are you getting through quickly and repurchasing?? Let me know in the comments! 👂🏻✍🏻 Love to all! 🖤
1 week update
thanks to all lovely beauties out there to take their time and add a comment on my last post. I was devastated by breakout, i was having from last 2-3 weeks and nothing seems to be working. Well i guess too many exfoliants was making my skin too sensitive so now i am back to basics. I have started what i was doing in the beginning and that seems to be working just fine. I think i was selfish to have a great skin in no time 🥴. If someone is just curious what i am doing right now then lets go to products. AM: The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser sukin - Pore Perfecting Toner Blemish Control it has tree oil which is good for acne prone skin The Ordinary - Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios XL Ultra-Light Fluid SPF 50+ as i have sensitive and oily skin this makes my face matte and oil free. I really like this one for oily skin or combination skin PM: The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser sukin - Pore Perfecting Toner Blemish Control The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (only on spots and acne 2-3 times a week) The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA (once a week) The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (once a week) The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque (once a week) The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane tea tree oil only on spots Even if i have listed so many items i feel i have very basic skin care routine as most of the products are being used weekly or only 2-3 times a week. But in the end this routine is working out for me and i am seeing good progress which makes me happy. Again thanks to all who suggested me before ❤️❤️
hi! i’m pretty new to research on skincare, and i definitely need some new products. my current routine is tagged, which includes witch hazel, even though i know it’s terrible for skin. my main concerns are redness, large pores, and whiteheads and blackheads. if you guys have any recommendations on products that would help. please share! <3
Cetaphil-Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
Citric Acid on Skin
Hi this is my first post and I have a question concerning citric acid. I have acne-prone oily and sensitive skin. I have my own skincare regime that I’m currently following day and night but I recently noticed that 2 of the products contain citric acid. I’ve heard mixed reviews concerning citric acid on skin— most of them negative and saying that it tears the skin. The two products that I’m using that contain citric acid are: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin And Kiehl's - Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol Free Toner So far I have not noticed any damage to my skin from these products. In fact they’ve been working really well in the skincare routine I created for myself. However I’m still concerned if the citric acid ingredient may cause long term damage and would like your thoughts.

Advice for someone clueless 🙆🏼♀️
I’m not exactly sure how to treat my skin because I’m not exactly sure where to start! My skin mostly is dry. I wear minimal makeup. I use moisturizer daily and wash my face nightly. I feel like my skin got worse when I got my IUD. I use SheaMoisture - African Black Soap and Bamboo Charcoal Detoxifying Foaming Facial Wash, use my THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Mistsometimes, and apply bliss - Ex-Glow-Sion MoisturizerHow do I treat my skin!?
SheaMoisture-African Black Soap and Bamboo Charcoal Detoxifying Foaming Facial Wash
I’ve been struggling with acne, clogged pores, and dry skin for as long as I could remember. Every product I used just never did anything. I would keep breaking out and my face would continue to feel dry and my pores wouldn’t look or feel clean. So after trying out these products, I noticed a huge difference in my skin and I highly recommend! Clean & Clear: I wash my face with it every night and rinse it off with cold water to make my pores look less enlarged. It really scrubs away a lot of the dirt and oil from my pores and makes my face look clean. St. Ives: I use this as an exfoliator 3-4 times a week when I’m not using my cleanser. It also really fights my acne. I’ve heard that this brand is bad for your skin but ever since I’ve started using it, nothing bad has happened to my skin so I kept using it. Let me just say I’ve noticed a huge difference. My face looks and feels softer and my acne has been clearing up since I’ve been using this. Dickinson’s pore toner: I use this after cleansing my face morning and night (well I try). I just squirt some onto a cotton ball and run it along my face and let it dry which takes about a few seconds. My face feels and looks refreshed every use. Clean & Clear moisturizer: BEST STUFF EVER! I put this on my face after washing and putting on the toner. It really clears up my acne and it really moisturizes my skin. However it doesn’t always do the job in preventing breakouts but it’s still worth using
ST. Ives-Acne Control Apricot Scrub
🌱My honest review: Thayers Witch Hazel Toner
THAYERS - Unscented Facial Toner I picked up this product at my local CVS without any idea of what a good skin care routine was. My skin care routine at the moment was Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser because this is what my dermatologist recommended for my acne prone skin, which seems to work perfectly fine. I had nothing else so I was curious and I wanted to expand my routine. I had no idea what a toner is supposed to do either. Without any knowledge of what good or bad ingredients in a skin product are. I picked up this bottle because it seemed appealing to me. The two main things that drew me into this product were; ✅Unscented ✅Alcohol Free With this in mind, I knew nothing could go wrong. the first ingredient is water so why not give it a try? My personal thoughts: After months and months of using this product every single day I can say my skin has improved. Maybe because I am taking care of my skin a bit more. But this product feels like it hydrates my skin after cleansing it. There is a slight tingling sensation on my nose when I apply this product, this could be good or bad, I don't know yet. This feels more like I am just applying really nice hydrating water on my face. I can barely notice it after a few minutes. I would recommend this to people who use makeup on a daily basis and want to feel extra clean and hydrated. After researching a little more about this product I have noticed that a lot of dermatologists and steticians have mentioned that the ingredient Witch Hazel is a bit too drying for the skin and not good to use as a toner. I personally think that this product is perfectly fine to use as long as you moisturize after using it. I also think that since I am using the unscented version, there is no irritation on my skin or dryness. This product also contains aloe vera as one of their main ingredients which is perfect for hydration. Conclusion and final thoughts: I am halfway down the bottle and it has lasted me more than 10 months (wow!) Using it every single day. This toner is extremely affordable and economical for the amount you get in a bottle. I think this is a great product for people that use makeup often and want to feel extra clean and hydrated after cleansing. This does not feel heavy on the skin. It feels just like water. It is a light product, does not have any scent, and its alcohol free. I do like using this product because it feels refreshing on the skin after cleansing it, even though I don't use any makeup at all. I will finish the bottle and take a break from using this toner because at this point I don't think it serves me any real purpose because I don't use any makeup. I will test and see what happens to my skin and how it reacts while I am taking a break. If my skin seems fine, then there is no reason for this extra step. But if my acne comes back or my skin gets worse then I will buy another bottle and continue using it. ♡Love, Ana
Cetaphil-Gentle Skin Cleanser
What is Beta Glucan and what does it do for your skin? Welllll, it's a large molecule made up of a bunch of sugar molecules, starch and cellulose bonded together. Studies have shown that it can help treat dermatitis, ezcema, wounds and burns. It essential helps boost your skin barrier, especially if it's compromised, and tells your skin to fight pathogens. It also deeply hydrates the skin and is 20% more hydrating then hyaluronic acid. With all that in mind I was so excited to give @jkosmmune_cosmetics line a try (and extra excited when I won their giveaway of almost their entire line)! I've used Beta Glucan in the past after receiving a DMK treatment - my skin healed sooo quickly from the treatment when using the serum with Beta Glucan. I've tried all of the products from the line, including the serum which isn't pictured and I purchased on my own, and have been loving them! The cleanser is surprising jumped up my list of favorites to the top! All the products are extremely hydrating, but not too hydrating that I get oily throughout the day. Have you tried the line or any other Beta Glucan products? What did you think? I've seen some great reviews for other brands that include the ingredient! Overall Rating: 4/5 - I've seen some mixed reviews on beta glucan and fungal acne, if that's a concern I'd be wary!
