Fall 2020 Skincare Routine

herecomesthesunnygrl
The first product in my skincare routine is the Simple Kind To Skin Micellar Cleansing Water. It smells a little weird, but works super well for me. It’s cooling and anti redness, as well as being water based, meaning it can be good for those with oily skin. Micellar water is made from purified water mixed with hydrating compounds and cleansing agents. The cleansing agent molecules join to form micelles, which are a chemical structure that helps pull oil and dirt from the skin. This micellar water is $6.29 from Target for a 6.7 oz bottle. I think it’s fairly cheap for a cleanser and works very well for the price. Simple - Micellar Cleansing Water
Next, 2 times a week I use the Bliss Mighty Marshmallow Bright & Radiant Whipped Mask. When I first opened the container for this mask, I was hit with the distinct smell of strawberry jello. This is actually something I like about the mask. Other than the smell, which comes from the mask containing extracts and glycerin, it is also cooling, anti redness, creamy, super easy to apply, and leaves your skin very glowy after use. Now let’s talk ingredients. The key ingredients in this product are listed below: Marshmallow Root Extract: hydrating Vitamin C: helps even skin tone Olive Leaf Extract: limits water loss and plumps the skin Zinc PCA: reduces excess oil and anti redness Glycerin: hydrating One thing to note about this mask is it does contain some alcohol. This alcohol is okay in products though. (See my post on Alcohol) This product is available at Target for $16.39 for a 1.7 oz. bottle. It is a more pricey mask, but I personally think it does more for my skin than a $55 mask I used to buy. bliss - Mighty Marshmallow Mask
Next I use the Trader Joes Rose Water Facial Toner. I will say this toner is pretty average. It’s hydrating, but has no outstanding ingredients or benefits. I don’t think I’ll repurchase it simply because it has fragrance, something I didn’t notice when I bought it. This toner can be found at Trader Joes for $3.99 for a 4 oz bottle. As you can see, it’s an incredibly cheap product, but not worth it. TRADER JOE'S - Rose Water Facial Toner
My moisturizer on the other hand I love. It’s the Olay Complete Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15. It’s creamy, hydrating, a little oily, and leaves your skin super smooth and glowy. All of its active ingredients are sunscreens, and other than that it’s just a good, basic moisturizer that works really well for me. It can be found at Target for $11.39 for a 6 oz bottle. OLAY - Complete All Day UV Moisturizer SPF 15 Sensitive Skin
And finally I use the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion. This is a thick, creamy, hydrating moisturizing body lotion that I’m in love with! I use it twice a day and my skin is softer than its ever been. Highly recommend. CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin
This lotion can be found at Target for $17.49 for a 12 oz bottle. Please give this post a cheer so more people can find amazing products, and follow me @_sips_tea_ on Instagram and on this account for Cherie! -Naomi

The Olay moisturizer sounds promising! Will a single cleanse with a water-based cleanser remove it?

herecomesthesunnygrlYou don’t need to remove moisturizer because it’s a leave on product, but the moisturizer is water based so a water based cleanser will work fine!

Help!!
I’m not sure if it’s the products that I’ve been using or it could be hormonal?? I stayed up late one night week doing schoolwork and woke up with this. My face got super itchy and keeps breaking out. I keep my skincare routine pretty simple as I only use CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin NOXZEMA - Anti Blemish Pads OLAY - Complete All Day UV Moisturizer SPF 15 Sensitive Skin + an antibacterial soap from Amway I’ve stopped using the anti blemish pads recently to prevent irritation. I have senior pictures in a few weeks and I’m looking for the fastest but safest way possible to get rid of the redness and scars. Anything helps!!

🧼Rebuilding My Moisture Barrier💧🤍
It’s always a balancing act when it comes from skincare. 😅 at least for me! Haha 💧I’ve had adult acne and have acne-primed skin, so when it comes to finding the right products that don’t over-strip my skin but also keep my breakouts & acne under control...you could say it’s been a journey! 💧If you saw one of my recent posts about my retinol breakout 😪 I’m back to familiar territory aka flaky, dry, inflamed skin aka my moisture barrier is damaged. And with the colder months, I’ve been spending more time trying to repair it. 💧These are some of the products that have been helping me: 🧴COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence : I recently purchased this essence and have really loved the effects. I use it after cleansing and find that it helps when I use it when my skin is still damp! It’s made my skin so soft & since it’s an essence, it allows for my other products to penetrate deeper into my skin. I will say, for those who are not really familiar with essences (especially this one), many often have a gel-like texture that isn’t super typical in some products (slightly sticky & for this one, slimy). 🧴CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin : my tried and true!!! I’ve been layering this product on, especially at night after the essence. Day or night, this lotion is a must-have in my book. It doesn’t feel oily on my skin and the hyalauronic acid is such a bonus since this an ingredient that helps draw in moisture into the skin. 🧴Krave - The Beet Shield : WORTH THE HYPE! Love Krave Beauty and I LOVE the Beet Shield. The texture is amazing, super light and dried down pretty quickly without a white cast. It makes me WANT to put on sunscreen and not just feel like I NEED to. 〰️After cutting back on the steps in my routine, and feeling& seeing results, I’ve been reintroducing these products for gentler exfoliation!〰️ 🧼CLARISMA - Cali Dreaming Cream Daily Moisturizer : the Clarisma moisturizer is super light and something I’ll typically wear during the day. It’s gentle and I like to wear it on days I’m inside especially since it is a lighter moisturizer and when I’m outside in the cold, I prefer something heavier. 🧼CLARISMA - Malibu Blush Exfoliating Scrub : the most gentle exfoliator! The exfoliating scrub isn’t at all like other physical exfoliants. The Luffa fruit breaks down when you use it so no micro tears with this one. The enzymes used also provide such a gentler exfoliation unlike most harsh acids. It also doesn’t cause hyperpigmentation, which I’ve experienced in the past with acids. 🏹Let me know what’s helped you with repairing or protecting your moisture barrier! 🤍

Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 4
Hey ya’ll! In part 4 of Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines we’re reviewing @Raks and @juliachristine’s skincare routines. Starting with @Rakswho reached out to me via Cherie message because she started skincare about a year ago because of her upcoming wedding. She starts by cleansing with theThursday Plantation - Tea Tree Face Wash Foam which costs $8.99 for 5.1 fl oz. This cleanser is very basic. It has tea tree oil, and eucalyptus oil. My issue is with the eucalyptus oil, which is a very irritating essential oil right up there with lemon oil and peppermint oil. If this doesn’t irritate your skin then it’s a great cleanser, but I can’t recommend it to those with sensitive skin. Then she goes in with 4 serums. First is thepura d'or - 20% Vitamin C Serum which costs $14.99 for 4 fl oz. This is a really good serum. It has aloe vera juice, glycerin, jojoba oil, and argan oil which are hydrating ingredients, and then it has hylaronic acid, retinol, and Vitamin C. I love it! Then she uses#The Ordinary - Nicinamide Serum[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $5.90 for 1 fl oz. We’ve talked a lot about this serum, it’s very good. Next is the#Tree Of Life - Hylaronic acid serum[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $10.95 for 1 fl oz. I don’t like this serum. It started off good with hylaronic acid, aloe vera juice, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C, but it contains way too many Essential oils and irritating extracts. And her final serum is theSkinMedica - LYTERA 2.0 Pigment Correcting Serum which costs $130.90 for 2 fl oz, which is very expensive. This is not worth the price. It has nicinamide and glycerin, and then some not very researched acids. I don’t recommend continuing use of this serum. Then to moisturize she goes in with theOLAY - Regenerist Regenerating Day Cream which costs $29.99 for 1.7 fl oz. I don’t like this moisturizer. Let’s start with some positives. It has nicinamide, glycerin, and Vitamin B3. Now it has a lot of bad ingredients also. It has Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which is a harsh cleansing agent, as well as fragrance being the 6th ingredient. The she uses a Neutrogena sunscreen, and occasionally usesThe Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which costs $7.20 for 1 fl oz. This is a great exfoliant. I think @Raks is using too many serums. I would stick to only the Pura D’or and The Ordinary serum, and ditch the other two. Keep the cleanser, and maybe try a different moisturizer. You asked for mineral sunscreen reccomendations for dark skin tones that don’t have a white cast, so I got you girl! I have light skin, but I did some research and I’d recommend the#First Aid Beauty - Weightless Mineral SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $34 for 1.5 fl oz, and the #Biossance - Squalane Zinc Sheer SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $30 for 1.7 fl oz. Both of these have minimal white cast, and Skincare by Hyram recommends them. Next is @juliachristine’s night routine. She starts off by cleansing with the #Vanicream - Unscented Gentle Cleanser[products]#[ThreeStars] witch costs $8.99 for 8 fl oz. This a nice basic cleanser with glycerin. Next she uses the#OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $84 for .7 fl oz. This cream has tretinoin which is a Vitamin A derivative which can treat acne, as well as retinol which also Vitamin A. I don’t think it’s worth the price, but it’s okay. Next she uses the #The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%[products]#[FourStars] which costs $7.99 for 1 fl oz. Along with azelaic acid, it has dimethicone which is a great moisturizer for dry skin. Next she uses theCeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin which costs $17.99 for 15 fl oz. Y’all know I love this product! Finally she finishes off with theVERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream witch costs $17.99 for .5 fl oz. Eye cream is definitely not necessary but this one is great! It has glycerin, algae extract, and olive oil which are hydrating, along with shea butter and a blend of peptides which can help firm the skin and increase collagen production which can help reduce fine lines around the eyes. Overall @juliachristine your routine looks great! That’s it for this post please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment your opinions on these products, and follow me for similar content. Upcoming posts include a 1 month Curology review and unnecessary skincare steps you don’t need. -Mae

Review my skincare routine 🌟
My skin is combination, but mainly oily. I’ve always had trouble with oily skin and I’m still perfecting my routine. I’ve recently switched to all non fragrance and I️ can already tell it has helped a ton. Morning: Simple - Refreshing Facial Wash Gel I️ like this a lot but I️ can tell it’s a bit drying on areas like my under eye and cheeks. I️ just use my hands, no washcloth to clean my skin. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream CeraVe - Face Sheer Tint Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 this sunscreen is perfect for toning down redness while keeping oil at bay. I’d recommend especially if you don’t wear makeup Night: Simple - Micellar Cleansing Water Simple - Refreshing Facial Wash Gel The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream I️ also want to get a chemical exfoliant to try and help my large pores. Although most of my acne is gone i deal with a lot of hyper pigmentation from past acne. Let me know if anyone has suggestions on new products or what I️ could change to help my skin!

How many masks are too many...?
I used to love masking! I’d do at least 1 to 2 a week. Now I’ve gotten lazy and just don’t do them and I have so many I need to start using before they expire! For me, I feel having an exfoliating mask and a hydrating mask is all you need. Unless your using the product consistently you’re not going to see changes. Masks are great for plumping up the skin, adding hydration and even a soft glow. But of all the masks I’ve used I’ve never found long term effects from them (except exfoliating). One way I like to use them is right before a big night (or day) out. To give my skin that added boost. Some that are great for doing so are: FARMACY - Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask (use as a 10 min mask) SUMMER FRIDAYS - Jet Lag Mask FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Ginger & Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask And many others that help brighten and hydrate! I will also not go without my exfoliating masks which I do once a week. Some faves are: PAULA'S CHOICE - 25% AHA + 2% BHA Exfoliant Peel YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial And a few others I have that I liked to use; BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Tea Tree Detox Mask ELEMIS - Superfood Vital Veggie Mask bliss - Mighty Marshmallow Mask Unfortunately as I said, I just don’t mask as often as I used to. And I feel it isn’t necessary. If you like to then I suggest you get yourself an exfoliating and moisturizing/hydrating mask and you should be good to go. Treatments are where you want to really zone in and specialize your finances for. Is it Friday yet? Ugh! I’ve been down all week with a neck I cannot turn - ouchie! And a migraine on top of that! I’m ready to knock my dogs out cause they are wanting out every half hour (it’s nice here ⛅️) Much ❤️ my skinnies 🍒

On Wednesdays we use
Lots of pretty pink products!! method - Pure Peace Body Wash LOVE this stuff. Smells amazing. Slightly moisturizing. Makes a great bubble bath. Under $10 eos - eos Shave Cream, Pomegranate This isn’t my favorite shave cream. It seems that it can clog your razor up and leave goopy chunks of cream all over. It just doesn’t rinse away completely enough. #Dr Teals - Pink Himalayan Salt Scrub[products]#[FiveStars] another favorite for winter. Gets all the rough spots off elbows and knees. Don’t use for self tanning though as it contains oils. pmd - pmd Clean Pro I use this cause it feels good in my face and it’s easily sanitized otherwise what does it even do that I couldn’t do just washing with my hands? I truly don’t know. schmidt's - Rose + Vanilla Natural Deodorant This is the best natural deodorant I’ve tried so far. It has like a dry clay feel so it doesn’t make your armpits damp feeling and really soaks up sweat. Smells divine. Glossier. - Futuredew Oil Serum Hybrid I have maturing, dryish skin. I can’t even figure out what this is meant to do. I’ve tried using it alone. As primer. As a highlight after makeup. Mixing it in. Tried a dozen things and I’ve been underwhelmed every single time. bliss - Mighty Marshmallow Mask Nice, basic mask. Not going to wow you. Gives your skin a wee boost. A more awake look. Can be a bit drying IMO. MILANI - Rose Butter Lip Mask Smells good. Looks pretty. The texture is really nice and creamy. But my lips aren’t buying it. It soaks right in and the flakes are still hanging around. MILANI - Rose Sugar Lip Scrub The smell is overpowering for me and the scrub is very abrasive. It smells like you are eating roses.

Best Cleanser 😍
1) CAUDALIE - Instant Foaming Cleanser This gentle cleanser is very light and foamy. I can tell it really cleans my face because afterwards I apply toner and there is no extra dirt on my organic cotton ball (also made a huge difference in my skincare; organic vs non organic cotton balls, go for the organic ones. There are no pesticides or harmful chemicals associated with them). I have combination skin and while my skin is left feeling soft and clean, it doesn’t feel stripped and dry. I have heard that the newer version of this formula is even better, but I have yet to try it out. 2) THANK YOU FARMER - Sun Project Water Sun Cream The only reason I didn’t give this product 5 stars is because it does give your skin that natural shine, but for my combination skin it makes it look super oily after about 3-4 hours and I have to wash my face and reapply. It is SPF 50, and doesn’t have a very thick texture. The texture isn’t 100% light, but it’s somewhere in the middle of heavy and light. It smells really good for sunscreen and it doesn’t cause any extra breakouts like a lot of other facial sunscreens. I still get hormonal breakouts from time to time, but who can prevent that?! 3) TRADER JOE'S - Rose Water Facial Toner I choose this product over the Mario Badescu facial spray. My skin just liked the feel of this toner/ facial mist because it doesn’t dry up my skin. There is witch hazel in this spray, but the only reason I gave it 4 starts is because the fragrance could be a little calmer. Overall: I cleanse my face with the caudalíe cleanser, apply toner, and then the thank youfarmer cream afterwards. To top it all off I use 3 spritzes of the Trader Joe’s toner facial spray before heading out into the sun!

my skincare MUST HAVES for dryskin✨
my skincare MUST HAVES for dryskin✨
I’m someone with VERY dry skin on certain parts of my face and normal on others, so here, is my skincare that is PERFECT for me and you never know, maybe for you too!! First, is my cleanser, the Cera Ve Hydrating Facial Cleanser! I love this stuff!! I wouldn’t recommend if u have very oily skin but other whys, it really helped clear up my skin without being stripping or drying. Next, is my Bliss Clear Genius Clarifying Toner + Serum...yes, I know it has witch hazel, (if you didn’t know witch hazel can be too stripping on most skin types) but it doesn’t have much and for my skin this cleared my breakout in less then 2 days:)) I’m VERY happy with this product and it saves me money not having to buy a toner and serum separately☺️ Then, I use my Cera Ve Daily Moisturizer, there isn’t much to say about this because it is so amazing, for all skin types too. It’s not too moisturizing and not, not enough which I love 💕 Lastly, is my WELEDA Skin Food Skin Nutrient, I DO NOT recommend this for if you have normal or even semi-dry skin, because it is a skin nutrient, I use it because around my nose area my skin is so dry it’s flakey, it’s very strong and works very well on areas like that, so if you have that type of dryness in your skin I recommend using it in only the dry spots, not on your whole face. BONUS: I am obsessed with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydro Gel Mask they make a purifying one too, but I found that this mask not only hydrates my skin but really smoothed it out and helps lots with acne!! It’s also VERY refreshing and gets rid of a lot redness... on the back it says to leave on for 15-30 minutes but I always keep it on for 30 because I enjoy it so much!! Also, it comes in a bottom and top piece, so it fits a lot better then other masks☺️

Just starting out on my skincare journey and could use some help for some better products!! I don’t have a tonne of money to spend but I know I could find better products!! My current routine start off with a eye makeup remover if I wore makeup that day using: NIVEA - Double Effect Eye Make-Up Remover This product struggles to help me take off mascara, and VERY VERY oily, hate how it feels on my eyes the next thing I do is take my spin brush and cleanse using: Neutrogena - Fresh Foaming Cleanser Not a terrible cleanser, good for my sensitive skin after cleanser I use toner Neutrogena - Alcohol Free Toner Don’t feel like this is doing anything for my skin, and makes absolutely no difference if I use it or not my last step is moisturizer CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin Best one I’ve been able to find that doesn’t make my skin super oily throughout the day

WANTED: New deep cleansing face wash!
WANTED: New deep cleansing face wash!
UPDATE: I since tried the Aveeno ultra calming cleanser and La Roche Posay hydrating cleanser and liked both, but ultimately fell in love with the Krave matcha hemp cleanser!! 😍 My skin type: Dry to Normal I used to use the 2 products on the left, they did the job as long as I was consistent with my routine. Recently I ran out of the face wash and wanted to switch up my routine, so browsed the Internet for other recommendations. The rosewater toner absolutely destroyed my skin and broke me out HORRIBLY, so I cut that out immediately. I continued using the Cerave hydrating cleanser and while my skin improved since I cut the Rosewater toner, I’m still having some breakouts. While it could be a number of things, I just don’t think this cleanser is working for me. What face wash have you used for Dry to Normal skin that you felt truly gave you a deep cleanse, after you’ve removed all makeup?? These products from Uqinu have
These products from Uqinu have been proving themselves to be powerhouses at delivering hydration and minimising sebum levels. . The Derma Moist Lotion is fantastic. You only need 1-2 pumps for the whole face. This has a texture between a serum and a cream and I like to use it for when I don’t want a cream that’s too thick. This would be great for our Queensland summer, when my skin is at its most oily. Though it’s been great for winter too, when my skin needs the extra boost of hydration, as the cold tends to dry my skin out a little. . The Derma Acne Cleanser is a foaming cleanser that cleanses the skin entirely, removing any excess oil that clogs the pores and causes acne. It’s unscented, making this the perfect cleanser for those with sensitive skin. . The Derma Moist Toner looks like a gel when you first take a look at the texture. When it goes on the skin is a different story. It’s like this lovely water that just melts into the skin. It has a slight scent that is very pleasing and not at all overpowering. This toner is amazing and has been a lifesaver for my oily skin. It gives me the hydration but keeps away the excess sebum. This product has Holy Grail status for me. . I love all of these products and haven’t come across anything that I dislike about them. I would recommend these to people with an oily skin type, and who are prone to acne.

So i’m brand new to skin care, and I had no idea where to start. This was the routine I started with 😊 After walking back and forth down the aisles of my local chemist warehouse, I settled on these four Neutrogena products to get myself into a basic routine. I have normal skin - no acne or regular spots. Would love to hear your thoughts on how to upgrade! Neutrogena - Fresh Foaming Cleanser The first step in my routine, massages onto my damp face. I haven’t been wearing makeup much, but if I had this did an OK job at removing my face makeup. Found it wasn’t best on my eyes and would sting. However apart from makeup, my skin feels quite clean after using. Neutrogena - Alcohol Free Toner Next up is the alcohol free toner. Applied with a cotton round. To be honest, I have no idea if this has affected my skin whatsoever, but hasn’t seemed to dried it out or cause any issues... Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel Used this as my moisturiser and boy i love this stuff. I’ve found it’s great in the mornings as it’s not so heavy, and leaves my skin feeling really fresh. I believe it also has HA which has kept my skin feeling really plump and hydrated Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 This sunscreen leaves my skin looking sooo radiant and glowing - it’s not oily at all and feels soooo good on the skin but my biggest issue is that it pills!! Definitely a no no for days when I want to wear foundation 😫 It’s great for no makeup days but otherwise i’m looking for something new. So this is just the beginning.. open to all and any thoughts ☺️
