We have all heard the heartbreaking news of Cherie closing in April 😢 I love the community and information I learned from this app. I am so enthusiastic about skincare and am going to school to hopefully become a dermatologist! This is the only platform where I am comfortable posting and therefore the only place I feel free to express myself and what I truly enjoy. So for the beginning of the end, I’m posting my updated skincare collection. Feel free to ask any questions about any products :) Thank you Cherie for everything!! ❤️ *DISCLAIMER- I do not use every item on my shelf. Some of them are unopened or haven’t been used in years. I display them simply for aesthetic purposes.
CHERIE APOSTROPHE GIVEAWAY PRIZE
⭐️I was one of the winners of Cheries Apostrophe giveaway!⭐️ As promised, I got a free dermatologist consultation and a free 3 months supply of the prescription made for me. It came in the mail last week, and these are my first impressions after one week of use!! • after sending in my pictures of my skin and providing information on what I use in my routine currently, I was prescribed with a topical cream Apostrophe - Topical Formulathat is 0.025% tretinoin and 4% niacinamide. This made me hesitant because I was already using 0.1% differin gel. I was worried the tretinoin was not strong enough for my acne, but I was reassured when the dermatologist let me know that the tretinoin is more effective and stronger! • when I got the package and opened it, the presentation was soooo cute. The box was simple and aesthetically pleasing, and the cream came in this cute yellow and white box shown. A how-to guide was provided with information about the brand, and also there was a pack of stickers!! I put some on my bottle and on my skincare fridge! • the topical cream feels like a cream, and I use a pea size amount every other night. I do notice it dries pretty fast, much like my differin gel. • I’m happy I’m starting with the 0.025%, because my face has been sensitive this week! I always use sunscreen but a noticeable difference so far has been the dryness. I have been irritated around my mouth mostly, which is expected. This should go away soon as my skin adapts. So far, I am liking the product. I need more time to see a difference in my skin and acne, but I am in love with the aesthetic of the brand! Thank you so much @cherieand Apostrophe for the prize!! *DISCLAIMER- during my use of the topical cream, I have NOT been using any exfoliators or my differin gel. I also have not been including my niacinamide serum.
What helped me—and what I still need
• the cover picture is me without makeup or filters currently. If you swipe right, that’s my skin 2 years ago. If you swipe right again, that was my skin last year. Here’s what I learned that helped me get through the bad moments of my skin. • RESEARCH- apps like cherie and YouTube channels like skincarebyhyram have been the number 1 contribution to clearing my skin. Paying attention to what’s irritating and worsening the skin. In 2018, I would get products that would dry out my skin and be tough on my acne (lush face scrubs). Now that I know what ingredients are good, my acne has improved lots. •EXPERIMENT- even though a product can be theoretically good for your skin, if your skin doesn’t like it, it’ll let you know. Most of the time it’ll cause breakouts, and in order for you to figure out what it is you have to try it. I used a serum which contained irritating ingredients and it caused the irritation and dermatitis seen in the last pic. I always advise a patch test before using new products! •CONSISTENCY- I have washed my face every morning and every night for the past 2 years. I made it my routine to care for my skin, and it has definitely paid off. I never go to bed with makeup on!! •IMPROVEMENT- while I believe I have taken great care of my skin, there’s always going to be the occasional breakout. It seems to me that I will have a week of clear skin, then the next day I have a week of patchy, red acne. It’s definitely hormonal, but it would be nice to be able to enjoy how far I have come without the lingering thought that I’m about to break out sooner or later.
*UPDATED* PM skin routine 🌚
This is my pm skin routine, updated. This is my part 2 to my last post of my updated AM routine! 🌊HOLI FROG - Superior Omega Nutritive Gel Wash my boyfriend got me this for my bday, and I’ve used it 2 times so far. The consistency is perfect for what I wanted, I felt like I needed this for my stubborn hormonal acne. It also is unscented. So far, I like it a lot! ☕️ YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner when I exfoliate, this is my go to. I have a review on this in a previous post, where I go into more detail. 🍃NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% this is what I got instead of another TO niacinamide serum. I like this one a lot better, and I think it’s simply because it is formulated better. It doesn’t foam up like TO does, and it’s also unscented. It’s consistency and packaging is also better. The results are what’s expected from a niacinamide serum, and price wasn’t too bad for this serum either. 🍁The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG see my am routine post for details on this product. 🧬GOOD MOLECULES - Hyaluronic Acid Serum I like this serum because it’s cheaper like the ordinary, and it doesn’t foam up like TO did, but it still foams a little bit. It’s good enough for me, and isn’t scented. 🐘 DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream this is my night moisturizer, and I love this because it’s thick and hydrating. It feels nice on the skin, doesn’t have any scent, and makes my skin feel plump. It is expensive though, but DE always is. pmd - Clean Smart Facial Cleansing Device I got this in my subscription box, and I’ve been using it at night to wash my face. It has 4 vibration settings, I use the first and second one for washing my face. I do think that it helps with exfoliation, and using the other side of the tool is made for massaging in serums. I found that it does take a lot of extra time when using it for serums. I like this tool, it’s nice, but not necessary. More of a luxury item.

*UPDATED* AM skin routine ✨
Since my last post, my routine has changed a bit. So this is my new routine with added new opinions on products. 🍵Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser this face wash is still one of my favorites. I love how hydrating it is for my skin, which I quickly learned was dehydrated. Now I’m almost out of this wash, and I learned that while it improved my hydration, it wasn’t enough to deal with my hormonal breakouts. But at only $16, it’s an amazing product. 🍃innisfree - Green Tea Moisture-Balancing Toner I tried this out for an added moisture boost in the morning, while also hoping for it to balance my t-zone. I read that it is also supposed to help other products absorb into skin. I use this on my damp skin after washing, and I think it’s fine. It does add moisture, but I don’t think it seriously helps oil production. It does a little bit though. I just enjoy the feeling of using this, it adds some ✨luxury✨ to my morning routine. It also smells good imo, but I know fragrance can be irritating to some. 🌚The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG i love this serum for my eyes. I use it day and night. It’s a cheap serum that’s lasted me a long time, and I barely need a drop for both eyes. This, in combination with my eye cream, has transformed my eye bags and puffiness!! I will definitely repurchase! 🍊scentuals vitamin c serum ⭐️⭐️⭐️- this isn’t a product in cherie’s base, but I got it from my subscription box. This feels really nice on my skin, but it does have a really watery consistency and it smells strongly of citrus. It does have citrus peel oil, and I know it has irritating ingredients, but it also has good ingredients. I won’t repurchase, but it’s nice enough to finish the bottle. 🌊EARTH HARBOR - AQUA AURA Reparative Eye Creme omg I love this eye cream!! I got this from my subscription box as well. I haven’t done my research on the ingredients that well, and it does have fragrance, but it smells good and it has done wonders for my eyes!! They used to be so puffy, but over time this and the caffeine serum has reduced the puffiness at least 80%. I am obsessed and already purchased a backup for when I’m out of this. 🍁Krave - Oat So Simple Water Cream I used up my YTTP kale moisturizer and bought this to replace it. It was cheaper and I liked the krave matcha hemp cleanser, so I tried this. It is a thin moisturizer, and it does well with my oily t-zone, but I noticed after I put it on my cheeks would get dry throughout the day. I am using the rest of it, but I wouldn’t repurchase. It’s not hydrating enough for me. ☀️ MDSolarSciences - Mineral Crème Broad Spectrum SPF 50 UVA-UVB Sunscreen This was my first face sunscreen and I was so excited to get it and help my skin out. But the white cast is just too bad for me, and it’s consistency feels too silicone-y. It also felt like it dried me out.

Curly hair struggles
This is my hair. I use Aveda’s “Be Curly” cream. I am wondering what my hair type is, and if there are better recommendations for curl products, as my hair often ends up frizzy and lacks volume towards the crown of my head. Any help would be appreciated 💕

Lazy girl! These Nail Stickers Are a 10-Second Way to Make At-Home Nail
Nail art, when it's done right, can look amazing. But without the training or a steady hand, it's easy to slip up or stress yourself out when attempting a design solo. The good news? Nail stickers are here to help. Once reserved for kids in the playground, nail stickers have been given a serious glow-up—they're a quick and easy way to pull off a top-tier mani at home. The butterfly Nail Stickers, stickers on the nails, brush the topcoat, etc. 1 minute, was successful! I love pink and purple, so I mix and match with two colors, but you can also switch to other colors.
