Weekly Treatment Schedule

avatar
hannahgarritty
I have a set, written down schedule for all my treatments for the month, because I have a really bad memory and find that if I don’t write stuff down I tend to over use or under use the products. This is how my routine was all through 2020, and have had no problem so far. I use The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane
3 times a week, on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Saturday’s. I’m pretty experienced when it comes to retinol, so I feel comfortable using it 3 times a week. This is also the only one of my schedules that isn’t set in stone. When my skin is feeling more sensitive, or is feeling very dry, I might only use this 2 times a week. I exfoliate using the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner
and the SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment
2 times a week on Tuesday’s and Sunday’s. I usually use these on the same days, but again, if my skin is feeling sensitive or dry, I will leave out the toner and just use the serum. I use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
once a week for 10 minutes, I use this on Thursday’s and Friday’s are my resting day where I focus on repairing and hydrating my skin. 📍= product was sent to me for free

Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 4
Hey ya’ll! In part 4 of Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines we’re reviewing @Raks and @juliachristine’s skincare routines. Starting with @Rakswho reached out to me via Cherie message because she started skincare about a year ago because of her upcoming wedding. She starts by cleansing with theThursday Plantation - Tea Tree Face Wash Foam which costs $8.99 for 5.1 fl oz. This cleanser is very basic. It has tea tree oil, and eucalyptus oil. My issue is with the eucalyptus oil, which is a very irritating essential oil right up there with lemon oil and peppermint oil. If this doesn’t irritate your skin then it’s a great cleanser, but I can’t recommend it to those with sensitive skin. Then she goes in with 4 serums. First is thepura d'or - 20% Vitamin C Serum which costs $14.99 for 4 fl oz. This is a really good serum. It has aloe vera juice, glycerin, jojoba oil, and argan oil which are hydrating ingredients, and then it has hylaronic acid, retinol, and Vitamin C. I love it! Then she uses#The Ordinary - Nicinamide Serum[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $5.90 for 1 fl oz. We’ve talked a lot about this serum, it’s very good. Next is the#Tree Of Life - Hylaronic acid serum[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $10.95 for 1 fl oz. I don’t like this serum. It started off good with hylaronic acid, aloe vera juice, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C, but it contains way too many Essential oils and irritating extracts. And her final serum is theSkinMedica - LYTERA 2.0 Pigment Correcting Serum which costs $130.90 for 2 fl oz, which is very expensive. This is not worth the price. It has nicinamide and glycerin, and then some not very researched acids. I don’t recommend continuing use of this serum. Then to moisturize she goes in with theOLAY - Regenerist Regenerating Day Cream which costs $29.99 for 1.7 fl oz. I don’t like this moisturizer. Let’s start with some positives. It has nicinamide, glycerin, and Vitamin B3. Now it has a lot of bad ingredients also. It has Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which is a harsh cleansing agent, as well as fragrance being the 6th ingredient. The she uses a Neutrogena sunscreen, and occasionally usesThe Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which costs $7.20 for 1 fl oz. This is a great exfoliant. I think @Raks is using too many serums. I would stick to only the Pura D’or and The Ordinary serum, and ditch the other two. Keep the cleanser, and maybe try a different moisturizer. You asked for mineral sunscreen reccomendations for dark skin tones that don’t have a white cast, so I got you girl! I have light skin, but I did some research and I’d recommend the#First Aid Beauty - Weightless Mineral SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $34 for 1.5 fl oz, and the #Biossance - Squalane Zinc Sheer SPF 30[products]#[FiveStars] which costs $30 for 1.7 fl oz. Both of these have minimal white cast, and Skincare by Hyram recommends them. Next is @juliachristine’s night routine. She starts off by cleansing with the #Vanicream - Unscented Gentle Cleanser[products]#[ThreeStars] witch costs $8.99 for 8 fl oz. This a nice basic cleanser with glycerin. Next she uses the#OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream[products]#[TwoStars] which costs $84 for .7 fl oz. This cream has tretinoin which is a Vitamin A derivative which can treat acne, as well as retinol which also Vitamin A. I don’t think it’s worth the price, but it’s okay. Next she uses the #The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%[products]#[FourStars] which costs $7.99 for 1 fl oz. Along with azelaic acid, it has dimethicone which is a great moisturizer for dry skin. Next she uses theCeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin which costs $17.99 for 15 fl oz. Y’all know I love this product! Finally she finishes off with theVERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream witch costs $17.99 for .5 fl oz. Eye cream is definitely not necessary but this one is great! It has glycerin, algae extract, and olive oil which are hydrating, along with shea butter and a blend of peptides which can help firm the skin and increase collagen production which can help reduce fine lines around the eyes. Overall @juliachristine your routine looks great! That’s it for this post please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment your opinions on these products, and follow me for similar content. Upcoming posts include a 1 month Curology review and unnecessary skincare steps you don’t need. -Mae

Quick reviews on samples
To take a page from my friend @Mallorywho does #samplesaturday - sharing mine a day late 🤗 To purchase list (TPL)- YES or NO? alpyn beauty - PlantGenius Melt Moisturizer While I only got two 2 of this in 1 day, am & pm, I was able to determine it’s not for me. The scent was off-putting, a very natural scent which I wouldn’t mind if it didn’t linger. It’s also got some oils in it that can be irritating. At $60 this is a very pricey moisturizer. It claims the benefits of Bakuchiol (retinol alternative), Squalane and Vitamin C BUT you don’t see these ingredients until over half way through the ingredient list! TPL - NO REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm $49 I really liked this. I like to really moisturize up at night so I would add my nightly moisturizer and top off with a thin layer of this balm. I had no issues with a sticky mess and my hair (or pet hair) all over my face as I have had with a previous balm. One ⭐️ taken for fragrance. TPL - YES DIOR - Capture Dreamskin Care & Perfect A gorgeous primer/serum but incredibly overpriced at $120! Not as fragrant as some I’ve used before being it has the added fragrance but there are more reasonably priced options available, Tatcha’s primer even being half the price! TPL - NO TATCHA - The Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream $60 This eye cream is THICK! It’s more like a balm that is meant to melt into your skin. For me it was hard to spread around my eye area. I would try to warm up between my fingers first but just didn’t find it easy to work with. I’m not a fan of using fragrance around my eyes either. While I love Tatcha I have other eye creams I’d rather use. I also did not like product in this type of container, very small and not sanitary given the texture. TPL - NO SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment $120. I believe I’ve talked about this one before. It is such a small sample but a tiny (pea-size) amount is only needed. So I was able to determine this was non-irritating to my skin. It’s got a pretty decent ingredient list except for the fragrance. I prefer using Farmacy’s Honeymoon Glow with AHA & BHA at half the price. TPL - NO Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum $72. While I initially thought this was working for me I’ve realized it may have brightened some areas of skin but did not help fade or reduce my spots. A pretty simple serum to use with no issues in my routine. TPL - NO LANEIGE - Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer $33 A HIGHLY popular toner that has a pretty simple ingredient list. I love a good hydrating toner and this hits the spot! It’s easy to transfer from my hands to my face and my skin drinks it up. I was able to add as many layers as I’d like without any side effects. Only downside is Laneige is not cruelty free. TPL - NO ❤️🍒

Rate my routine, suggestions welcome 👌
Hey guys this is my first post. Most of these products I bought after reading reviews and learning how to read ingredient lists on here. I use YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser cleanser with an electric silicone face brush. This can be a little hard to fully rinse off but, my skin is soft and glows after. Then I use HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray to tone and prepare for my first essenceHADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion which is very moisturizing and slimy. I use this for both the moisture and the niacinamide. I wait until it is fully dry the spritz more rose water and follow up with CosRx snail mucin ferment essenceCOSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence . After that I will either add this combo: The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane and then belif - Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask or the CosRx snail all in one cream COSRX - Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream to keep this oil on my skin and not my pillow lol Or go straight to Embryolisse - Lait Crème Concentré this is thick and I will either use it as a moisturizer or load it on as a sleeping mask. I mainly do skincare at night and I know that I should add a vitamin C and sunscreen during the day but, I haven’t found any moisturizing ones that I like yet/that are simple enough for me to slap on and give adequate protection. Please let me know your thoughts 😊

Niacinamide Staples
Do you love Niacinamide?? ✨💕 I have these staples in my routine and I wanted to give my thoughts on. @paulaschoice skin balancing pore reducing toner and @deciem @theordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 2% solution. 😍💕The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Niacinamide is my absolute favorite ingredient and I love it along with my Glycolic acid. Is there any one ingredient that you love so much?? Let me know in the comments ⬇ ❤ @deciem 👉 Claims: Niacinamide (vitamin B3) reduces the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion. A high 10 percent concentration of this vitamin is supported in the formula by zinc PCA to balance visible aspects of sebum activity. My thoughts: It is the best product and ingredient so far. It is a staple in my routine since a long time now. I don't remember ever thinking of not using this one ever. Love how it brightens and tightens my skin. My pores miraculously get less visible and it creates that shield of glow on skin. I simply love it. It is safe to use, non-irritating and effective even for sensitive skin types. It tingles a tiny bit in certain areas of face when applied but that tingling sensation goes away in few moments. @paulaschoice Skin balancing Pore reducing toner 👉PAULA'S CHOICE - Pore-Reducing Toner Claims : SKIN BALANCING Pore-Reducing Toner helps balance skin with antioxidants and hydrating ceramides, making oily areas less noticeable and skin more even, smooth, moisturized, and protected. It is an essential step in any skincare routine to renew skin after cleansing. Can also help remove the last traces of makeup My thoughts: It does an amazing job. I noticed a smoother and more even skin using this toner. This is almost watery and gets absorbed in skin so quickly. I've been loving this even in daytime, before applying my other skincare. Love it. . . . . . . . . . .

The Ordinary has changed my routine 😊
The Ordinary has changed my routine 😊
Ive always has decent skin but would get random breakouts. I also started breaking out when stressed and was having some dullness and dehydration! To jump in : The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution I really like this toning solution! It doesn’t dry me out and is actually quite moisturizing. It’s great if you experience irritation because the aloe vera in it really provides soothing properties for irritated skin. It helps with gentle exfoliation when I use it at night and I get the exfoliating cotton pads from Target and that helps add some extra penetration to my skin! My face has visibly gotten a more even texture. The only reason it has 4 instead of 5 stars is because you can only use it at night because it doesn’t react well to sun exposure. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I am in love with this peel! It visibly improves blemishes and has lightened my dark marks a bit! I love that it’s something I can do at home and still get my deep exfoliation I need. My skin feels and looks radiant. I will say start only using this once a week as it can sting a bit. After you feel you have adjusted you can up it to two times a week depending on how you need it! I’ve currently upgraded to two times a week. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 If you suffer from any sort of dryness this is for you! I’m combination skin but can get dry around my cheek area and just wanted overall more moisture. This is a God send. From the first day I used it my skin was so hydrated. Because Hyaluronic Acid absorbs so much in water this is best used on wet/damp skin. I use it after cleansing AM and PM. I put my moisturizer on directly after so that way more moisture is being sucked in to my skin. Definitely a game changer. The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane I wanted to love this product but I really just like it. For my skin it seems to make me feel too greasy. I use it as my step before my moisturizer and it was just ok. I hate to feel oily and this can make my skin feel that way if I use any more than one drop. Now I mix one drop maybe two in my moisturizer at night. It’s less overwhelming for my skin that way. Once I started using it that way it gave an extra boost of hydration to my nightly routine. All in All has really helped my skin! SIDE NOTE: All of these products are vegan and cruelty free!

A comparison of glycolic toner
A comparison of glycolic toners • Pixi is a classic and I find it a bit more moisturising compared to the other two. I would give it at 7/10 • Alpha H is a bit harsher but I find it really good for congested skin and notice an overnight difference but it is a bit drying. I would give it a 6.5/10 • The Ordinary toner is my favourite. I find it works really well even for my sensitive skin. It’s harsh but doesn’t cause my skin to be sensitised. I would give it an 8.5/10

Glow Tonic
pixi-Glow Tonic
Step 2: Toners 💚
Step 2: Toners 💚
Product 1: ALAFFIA - Everyday Coconut, Face Toner, Purely Coconut, Normal to Dry Skin So, after I cleanse, I tone. Is it necessary? Nah... but I personally like this step because this is the first product that comes into contact with your skin right after you cleanse! This product I found at Nugget (and also Sprouts). I’ll be honest, I thought shopping in a grocery store with organic products would lead me to better skincare products. I was really just trying to find something gentle (and cheap) enough to try one day, and I found this! Neem is the top ingredient. I had never heard of this ingredient in skincare until I stumbled upon this. Some benefits of neem include vitamin E and fatty acids (good for hydration and fighting wrinkles/boosting collagen), anti-inflammatory & anti-bacterial (good for acne), and it is also known to balance out melanin secretion (which helps lighten hyperpigmentation). I’d like to say this helped with my acne and dark spots, but, like I mentioned in my cleanser post, I use a concoction of thangs on my face that all help with that... so it’s hard to pinpoint any single item, ya feel?? How I use it: cleanse, pat dry my face, then I spritz this and allow it to air dry. I use this every AM and most PMs. Product 2: The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution ATTN: please read about AHAs before trying this product! This is a chemical exfoliant... the more harsh of the 3 I’ve learned about (lactic acid being more gentle and mandelic acid being even more gentle than both exfoliants). The reason why glycolic acid can be more harsh is due to the molecular size. Glycolic acid has a smaller molecular size which means it sinks deeper into the skin. Whilst the other 2 AHA’s have larger molecular sizes so that it doesn’t penetrate too deep into the skin making it a better option for those who have sensitive skin. These chemical exfoliants are used to help detach dead skin cells that may be sitting happily on your face and causing break outs. We love AHAs! It’s just a matter of finding which works for you. I’d recommend starting off with the mandelic acid OR pixi - Glow Tonic . I personally have never tried mandelic acid because I already knew my face could handle glycolic acid from using Pixi’s Glow Tonic. The difference between Pixi’s Glow Tonic and TO Glycolic Acid Toning Solution is 1. The amount of glycolic acid that’s in each solution and 2. Pixi’s Glow Tonic has more ingredients mixed in with the glycolic acid I’m assuming to make it more gentle. Fair warning, Pixi’s Glow Tonic has fragrance in it. How I use it: Okay sooooo, I use this when my skin asks me to. Sounds weird, but y’all know what I mean right? Lol. Liiike, if I feel a break out coming on or if I just feel like my skin needs a little extra treatment, I’ll use this in my PM routine after I cleanse. For me, the next morning, I’ll notice a difference. Anyone else use these products? 😊 Xoxo Xenia

Tips & Tricks To Glowing Skin
Tips & Tricks To Glowing Skin
One of my biggest skin issues is dullness. Aside from the complication that is combination skin, I really dislike how lackluster my complexion can be sometimes. It can be really noticeable in photos which is part of the reason why I’m not really fond of taking selfies. What really helped me achieve a nice glow is niacinamide and glycolic acid. I discovered this by searching for skincare guides online and trying out different products. Honestly, I was a bit scared to experiment at first but I was also really excited, especially when I started seeing the effects. Simply put, glycolic acid strips away all my dead skin, revealing the fresh skin underneath. Meanwhile, niacinamide gradually lightens my dark spots. This results in fresh, glowing skin. It’s an amazing combination that really made my skin change for the better. I’m using a total of five products for my ‘glowing skin’ routine: 1. The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution 2. Nacific Phyto Niacin Whitening Essence 3. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 4. Mimi White AHA Serum 5. PASSION & BEYOND - Phyto Aqua Cream Take note that I don’t use all of this within the same routine. That’s because not all of them are compatible with each other, specifically niacinamide and AHA. Using them in the same routine can cause flushing and redness. In addition, it will also raise the pH of the AHA which will make it less effective. It’s simply not worth using them together. For instance, I use TO Glycolic Toner, Nacific Phyto Niacin Essence, and TO Niacinamide Serum at night. Meanwhile, in the mornings when I’m not planning to go out, I take one scoop of Phyto Aqua Essence into my palm and add a few drops of AHA serum. When I do have to go out, I don’t use the AHA serum because it can increase my chances of getting sunburned. Try these products and see if they work for you too! 💋
