Instagram made me buy it! Ouai (pronounced as way), means yes, in a casual Parisian way. This brand is everywhere and promoted by our favorite beauty gurus, celebrities and the most influential family, the Kardashians. I love its modern and minimalist packaging. It really stands out when you enter Sephora. It is also a cruelty free brand yay! For me, it’s really important to use products that are safe and free from any harmful chemicals. Another reason why I love Ouai as their products are formulated without parabens and sulfates. OUAI - Texturizing Hair Spray

best & blah hair products @ Sephora 🌟
BEST & BLAH 👉🏻 Sephora Edition 😌🙌🏼 We all know the holy grail products we can find at Sephora. For me, I flock to the shelves for Ouai, a haircare line quite popular in the IG community 💡Before trying out their line, I was always skeptical of the value in their products. Come on, is this really worth it? I was an avid fan of it's a 10 haircare - Leave-In Conditioner Spray Product , my holy grail for my wavy, thick hair (which, is extremely damaged!) I could always count on that single product after washing my hair to smooth my hair and aid in softening my ends. Eventually, I had to try out Ouai haircare. After bleaching my hair to its absolute end, I knew I needed to find quality products when it came to styling my hair. My hair had always been picky with the products it uses, especially when it came to styling products. Sticky, thick and too drying formulas turn me off. So, when needing to find my “best and blah,” I knew I had to put Ouai in the hot seat. 1. OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray This one left my hair tacky, even with a minimal amount of product sprayed on. My waves weren’t much defined as they would be without this product. This one is $12 (small bottle) at Sephora. Worth it? No, not in my opinion. A better alternative is NOT YOUR MOTHER'S - Beach Babe Soft Waves Spray . 2. OUAI - OUAI Volume Spray Hmmm.. perhaps my hair is thick enough to have volume already. Nevertheless, I was not a huge fan of this volume spray. I used it before blowing my hair out and all it did for me was add more product onto my hair, no volume. Worth it? No 😭 I tried my best to like this product but I can’t bring myself to pay $26. 3. OUAI - Dry Shampoo Foam A NEW DRY SHAMPOO FAVORITE! I love this formula (mousse-like) and the smell. It leaves a refreshing and cooling feeling on my scalp. Worth it? YES. I’ll definitely be buying this again, worth the $28! 4. gisou - Honey Infused Hair Oil This is a great hair oil, don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the packaging, the consistency and the result of my hair after smoothing this into it; HOWEVER, $46 doesn’t sit right with me for a hair oil so is it worth it? Not for me. 5. eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer I enjoyed the smell and lightweight spray of the nozzle, offering a lighter application of the product. But, too much and your hair gets STICKY. Beware of the amount you use. If used right, it’s worth your time. Worth it? $12 for a great heat protectant is worth it to me! 6. gisou - Propolis Infused Polishing Primer Ehhhh, I couldn’t find the value in this for me. I heard a lot of people talk about their hair feeling smoother after styling once using this; however, I personally couldn’t notice a difference. I loved the creamy texture but I can’t purchase it again. Worth it? $34 isn’t worth it for me 😭
Drying and styling hair is a big project…
Hair texture： Thin and soft，hard to be styled！ 😭 Drying and styling hair is a big project every morning after shampoo, especially for girls with long hair. One easy tactic that I found was to use wave spray before blow drying every inch of my hair, where drying and styling can both get done in a single procedure and saves so much time in a hustling morning. Wave sprays are easy to use. I simply apply the sprays throughout my hair, mainly in the hair roots, after shower, and blow my hair to dry. For my semi-curly hair, just a simple step of spraying can guarantee the wavy style and volumize my thin hair with hairdryer, and the natural and fluffy hairstyle could last for the entire day. I have been using OUAI wave spray in the last 2 years and like it a lot until I have got my new spray a few months ago. OUAI is an American hair product brand specialized in hair styling and nutrition. And my new spray is from Shiseido, a popular middle-high end skin and hair care brand from Japan. They both are in the same price range – for around $20 per bottle. To be fair, they both work very well in creating fluffy appearance of the hair, but after using the new product for months, I realized that there are obvious differences. In comparison, I found Shiseido works better for my hair type and lasts for longer. It is very apparent that the compositions of the sprays are different – OUAI wave spray is a liquid spray while Shiseido spray is made of powder. The powders made Shiseido spray so much easier to spread through the hair and is non-sticky. And because the powder is designed to resist the moist, the hair can stay fluffy and natural even in the evening, while OUAI spray only last for 5-6 hours in the summer until the fluffy hair falls back down. In conclusion, the powder spray is more suitable for the summer and especially for people who works long hours and still need their hair to look nice and fluffy in the evening, while OUAI wave spray is just enough to meet your basic need in styling. The Ouai for Curly Hair
I've been testing out a few Ouai products they sent me a while ago for my curls to see how they do. So far I'm liking the Leave-in Conditioner for refreshing my hair and the Finishing Creme for styling! They smell AMAZING! I'm not a big dry shampoo girl since my scalp is dry rather then oily, so curly girls tell me how you use dry shampoo for your hair. Have you guys tried Ouai products before? What are your faves? I think I want to they their new treatments masks next. Ouai Hit & Miss
Two products from Ouai - the cult Instagram favorite hair brand - one that worked well for me and one that was meh. It happens!! The same brand will rarely satisfy all your needs. Ouai is a pretty expensive brand for me for what they do - their haircare isn’t phenomenal like olaplex, but is definitely better than most drugstore brands. Today I’ll be talking about a hit from this brand, OUAI - Air Dry Foam and a miss from them, the OUAI - Rose Hair & Body Oil . I’ve used both of these for over a year now, repurchasing both of them, but after trying other things, you’ll see why the miss is a miss and the hit is a hit! My hair type: short, pixie cut - straight mostly, some wave, grows fast by lacks hydration sometimes, small damage. The Hit: OUAI - Air Dry Foam + I used to never style my hair the last time I had a pixie, and when I grew it out, I had not been styling my hair for YEARS. So I didn’t know where to go. I didn’t even own a hair dryer. + I picked this up in a mini kit from Sephora on a whim, and I kinda fell in love. For my shoulder length hair, this product gives my hair texture, some wave pattern, and cuts my air dry time down a bit and makes the process smoother. On my pixie cut, it adds a bit of texture/waves and makes my hair have some bounce. + to use, I pump one pump into my hand (that’s all!!) and then rub my hands together and gently run it through my damp hair. Too much and it will make your hair look a little greasy upon drying. + smells like lemons, bergamot, rose - their North Bondi scent in the perfume! + formulated with kale extract that leaves your hair soft and healthy and never crunchy! The not crunchy part is my favorite. + $28 for 4oz, a great deal in my opinion. The Miss: OUAI - Rose Hair & Body Oil + I used to love this product - I had never tried a hair oil and I thought it was wonderful. This product is multi purpose, meaning you can use it on your body too! + to use, I squirt half a pump into my hand and then rub my hands together. Then I gently and carefully apply it to the ends of my hair, never the roots, but make sure to really hydrate the ends. + to me, this is best used to work out frizz and fluff in your hair - but it doesn’t hydrate or strengthen my hair at all. In fact, it does make it look greasy if I use too much product. + it’s very runny, which some of y’all might like compared to other oils, but I don’t like that. + the scent is melrose place, their other perfume, which is bergamot, lychee, cedar wood, and musk. Not my favorite but doesn’t last too long. + $16 for this size, 1.5 oz. but they have a 3oz for 32$

I have fine hair that is easily weighed down by leave in treatments. It’s hard to find good products that help keep my hair looking healthy and create body. I have a short, textured bob style OUAI - Texturizing Hair Spray I love all of Ouai products that I’ve tried. This is a great spray that I add once my hair is styled to give me amazing body and some definition I desire. I typically like to wash my hair only 1-2 times a week and this is a product that doesn’t dry or damage my hair if left in for several days. MOROCCANOIL - Treatment Light I’m a HUGE fan of this oil because once again, it’s so very difficult for me to find any products that don’t weigh my hair down. I always used BioSilk or It’s A Ten but both were more of an overnight treatment than an everyday option. Then I received a sample of the MoreoccanOil and haven’t used anything else since. I decided to purchase the light as the original is ok for me but the light just is the best option. All I need is a dime size and my hair has a beautiful, healthy shine. Living proof. - Color Care Whipped Glaze I’m a fan of Living Proof so when I saw a mini of this Whipped Glaze with the color care shampoo/conditioner I decided to give it a shot. It’s a whipped glaze that deposits temporary dyes to instantly boost vibrancy and counteract color fading and brassiness. You add it to your hair once it is clean and towel dried, working from roots to end. My hair is the bright blood you see. I can get just a tad yellow and like to add a toner to counteract. I’ve tried several but haven’t had much luck with them. My stylist, who is a renowned blonde specialist (Chrissy Rassmusen @hairbychrissy) says the wrong toners can actually give the opposite effect one is looking for. So I did give this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️ as I believe it can work for some, it just didn’t give me the desire I like. Actually, I didn’t see any change at all. It was light weight and worked well in my hair in that aspect (as a leave-in product) I may explain this horribly but I like a very bright, vibrant blonde and sometimes adding these toners can turn my hair to the more “ashy” blonde. Both are beautiful, I just don’t like that tone against my skin. There are so many ranges of blondes these days 🤯 who knew 🤷♀️ just take one look at Chrissy’s page and you’ll see! I have some more finished products to review for you this week! Skincare of course 😁 ❤️🍒
Maybe you’re doing it wrong!
Having thick hair can seem so luxurious on a good hair day, but come a bad one, I almost feel ready to chop it all off! Not that I would, I enjoy my long hair too much for it. My hair is especially challenging because not only is it thick and long, but my hair is also course. This means that doing anything at all to my hair requires a long period of time, and a good amount of upper body strength! Because of this, I used to hate straightening or curling my hair, and most of the time I just hoped for the best. It used to take me ages to straighten my hair for an event, only for it to get frizzy and unmanageable within a matter of an hour. But I soon figured out how to tame this mane of hair! It is my fixed routine that doesn’t fail me at all! I generally start off the straightening process by applying a good amount of the L'ORÉAL PROFESSIONNEL - L'Oréal Spray before using my straightener. I bought the 5.7 oz fl (170 ml) spray for only $4! Once I have that applied throughout my hair, I get started on the straightening. For thick and long hair, sectioning is SO important! I typically start out by sectioning layers and beginning with the lowest one. I then work my way upwards towards my crown. Another huge addition to this routine is the use of a good paddle brush. Now, people may generally use a wide-toothed comb during the straightening process, but I stand by the paddle brush. Because my hair is thick and course, it also gets tangled easily, so I strongly prefer the detangling paddle brush over a comb to get the job done. I use this brush to figure out which part of the section will be getting straightened and essentially, the brush is leading the straightener. This method, I find, is SO helpful in getting every strand of hair straightened. Before, I used to have sections of wavy hair and other sections of straightened hair, but with this method, EVERYTHING gets beautifully smooth and straight. Once I am satisfied with the result, I set everything down with the OUAI - Texturizing Hair Spray that I got for just $12 (!!!), and this makes my straight hair last the entire day!
Everyday Hair Routine for Straight Hair
My natural hair is straight and flat. The highlights made the hair dryer, thinner and more fragile so I always apply some PHYTO - 7 Hydrating Day Cream With 7 Plants after shampooing. This cream protects my hair and keeps the ends moisturized. Before I use brush and heat or other styling tools, I use DRUNK ELEPHANT - Wild Marula Tangle Spray This spray smoothens the hair and adds some heat protection. I finish the look with OUAI - Volumizing Hair Spray with or without heat styling. Ouai spray is a texturizing spray with dry shampoo. The hair texture feels amazing.

I’m Gonna Say it: Holy Grail Hair Care! ✨
So about a month ago I made a post with a bunch of minis I brought home, and two of them were these two products, and I feel confident to give reviews on these now! A quick background in my hair: My hair is naturally extremely thin and I have 2c/3a curls (a blend of wavy and ringlets) as well as being high porosity (they dry sooo fast like literally one pat with a towel). I’ve been dying my hair for a long time, and because of that, for the last several years I’ve suffered breakage, split and brittle ends, and a lack of bounce in my natural curl. I’ve been growing my hair out for years and stalled on length because the ends just kept breaking off, and there were a lot of times where I would break down in tears because I just wanted long pretty hair. I spent tons of money going through masks and leave ins and oils and nothing helped longer than 24 hours. Enter OUAI - OUAI Leave-In Conditioner I bought the travel size of this and pictured above is the full size (I only used the travel size like 3 times before I was completely sold on it). After just one use, I finally felt like my hair was shiny and soft, something I hadn’t experienced in years of rotating through products. My friend actually noticed it over facetime the next day with zero prompting! I was so excited I washed my hair a day early the next time so I could use it again. Now, my hair is shinier than ever and it actually feels like my hair is stronger! No more little pieces break off when I brush it and I feel like it’s safe to finally use heat on it again (even though I don’t want to bc my curls look so good!!). I couldn’t be happier with this product, I want to buy like 4 more bottles now so I never run out even though a little goes a long way. My actual holy grail. I would give it 10 stars if I could. The OUAI - OUAI Wave Spray I got with it is also a fantastic product I bought a full size of quickly too. My biggest beef with “sea salt” sprays has always been the nasty play-doh smell and the residue that feels impossible to wash out of my hair. First and foremost I love the way this spray smells sooooo much, it’s delicious and sexy, very feminine and lovely. The other thing I love is that it uses rice starch instead of salt than can be drying and leave a sticky residue. Although this spray leaves a little texture, it’s definitely tolerable for day 3 or 4 (or 5 or 6 😬) hair and the perfect thing to bring life back to my curls.

Quarantine Glowup: Hair Rehab 🌺
With not having to leave the house everyday, now is the perfect time to give your hair a much-needed break from heat and styling! The first step for getting your hair back to its healthiest state is to use a sulfate-free shampoo that does not strip your hair of its natural oils. Follow up with conditioner like you normally would, and of course give it a blast of cold water at the end to seal the cuticle and help prevent damage. Next, use a microfiber towel to gently wrap your hair on top of your head to dry. I leave it up like this while I do my post-shower skincare. After a few minutes, gently squeeze (don’t rub!!) your hair in the towel and unwrap it. Take a wide toothed comb and gently detangle your hair. This is when I put a small amount of styling spray, my Ouai Wave Spray, throughout my hair and scrunch with my hands! Then I just let it air dry, don’t apply any heat! This should leave your hair soft but with volume and movement. Then before bed, spray dry shampoo at the roots. I really like to use Living Proof’s Dry Shampoo. On dark hair it does appear white, but it soaks in overnight. Putting the dry shampoo in your hair BEFORE it gets dirty really works better than trying to soak up grease that is already there! I have really been trying to go 4-5 days in between my showers, which is SO much longer than usual! A lot of people believe that you can “train” your hair to become less greasy over time if you stretch out the days in between washes, so I am trying this out while I don’t have anywhere to be! Something else that helps your hair to be healthier is to take a boar bristled brush and brush it from the roots of your hair down to the ends, which helps distribute your hair’s natural oils to dryer parts of your hair. Just power through a few weeks of dirty hair and you’ll be on the way to low-maintenance locks in no time!

😳Why box dye is TERRIBLE for your hair
As some of you may know by now, I am a licensed cosmetologist. I see TONS of clients everyday and a large amount of my new clients are color corrections. What’s a color correction? Wells color correction is usually a pricey service that a hairstylist does once your hair is compromised from box dye...or maybe you gave yourself a hOMBRÈ. Yeah I called you out😂 This service is so pricey because it can take HOURS to fix this situation. This haircolor, took FIVE hours. She had three layers of red box dye in her hair and about two inches of regrowth that was lighter than the red. Trust me I wanted to cry when I saw it. This is every hairstylists worst nightmare. A client wanting to be blonde but their red. Lol not gonna happen. As you can see, there’s still some red, that’s where she really overlapped her box dyes. Box dyes are progressive dyes that really buildup on the hair. They have metallic salts that can build up and reeeaally dry out the hair....not fun. If I do a color correction over boxed hair I will seriously FORCE clients to get Olaplex added to the color and lightener. It’s soo damaged just in general and it’ll be worse after a huge chemical service like this one! Use these to prevent any further damage OLAPLEX - No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo OLAPLEX - No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner amika: - The Wizard Detangling Primer OLAPLEX - No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme KEVIN.MURPHY - Smooth.Again

ogx - Renewing Argan Oil Of Morocco Extra Strength Penetrating Oil Dry, Coarse Hair I’m always on the hunt for products to tame my frizzy dry hair. I stumbled upon this one at Walmart and it works SOO well. It keeps my hair moisturized and shiny all day- everyday. And it’s under $6.

Red heads do it best
Looking for ways to keep your red bright for longer? Try a color protectant shampoo and conditioner! These are typically sulfate free. Try using cold water as you was your hair DON’T shampoo daily, this can strip the color from your hair faster than you could imagine! Try JOICO color butter JOICO - Color Intensity Color Butterto add pigment and shine This was an all over color but we left her regrowth natural! It really helps when her hair grows out and there’s no harsh regrowth lines! Products used: Olaplex shampooOLAPLEX - No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and conditionerOLAPLEX - No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner- this client has dry, unruly hair due to lack of heat protectant, some sun damage, as well as chemical damage from a previous salon. I had her take this product home to try and she told me after the first use she noticed a difference! For styling I used: OYA Suede OYA - Suede Styling Crememixed with OYA reflectOYA - Reflect Hair Styling Gel- this combo adds soooo much shine! I also used Amika’s The Wizardamika: - The Wizard Detangling Primer- it’s a detangling primer and it’s oil based! So it’s extract hydrating and really helps get the knots out, plus it smells like heaven! For heat protectant spray I used Kevin Murphys Anti.Gravity sprayKEVIN.MURPHY - Anti.Gravity Spray as I curled her hair with a 1 ¼ inch Babyliss curling iron. Always brush out the curls for a wave effect!
