curology skin journey + what is my acne called?

trying out curology on acne with my eczema prone skin ⭐️ i have been trying out curology for the past week. i’ve always wanted to try it since the topicals that my dermatologist has given me recently haven’t helped my skin out at all. I’ve been so fed up with my skin and it really brings down my self-confidence. worst part of this whole thing is that I don’t know what type of acne I have, therefore I don’t know which products could help clear it. I was also really scared to try curology since I know that my skin is extremely dry. I was worried that curology would completely dry out my skin. however so far, my eczema hasn’t been as bad as I imagined it to be. review (so far): Curology - The Cleanser
this cleanser is pretty gentle. It doesn’t foam up and it’s more like a jelly texture. Pretty similar to the Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser
. however, this does seem to dry out my skin. But this can be fixed with some ointment and moisturizer. I also cleanse twice a day which could be part of the reason why I’ve noticed that my skin has dried out so much. Curology - Curology formula
now this curology formula seems to be helping quite a bit. Ever since I started using curology I have noticed the difference in my acne. I’m not sure exactly what it is but I believe that it brought down some bumps and pimples that I had previously. but of course I still do get breakouts which will hopefully start to minimize later on. Curology - The Moisturizer
I know that chirology was made for mostly people with acne prone/oily skin. So I knew that the moisturizer will be a lot thinner than one that I would typically use. I don’t hate this moisturizer since it does slightly hydrate my skin. However it is not enough hydration for eczema prone skin. because of this I also have to use the CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin
which i do highly recommend. i hope this helped any of you who are considering curology. i’ll keep you all updated and let you know if it works well or fails miserably. also, if you guys could maybe help on any products for my skin it would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

EmmaKayHi there girly! Your acne looks like it’s from thing like dairy or pillow cases and you phone so please try cleaning those and also try to double your water intake which I know is extremely hard but when I first interred the modeling industry that was the number one tip I was given and it has help so much. Also please try not to pop any of them if you are because that will spread the bacteria around your face and just make it worse, so just make sure you wash your face twice a day and make sure your hands are clean before you touch your face. DONT STRESS the pimples are pink and pink is cute and stressing will make it worse! You got this!! 😁

I realized that OTC actives are no match for my skin & went the Rx way: period is 2 days out & it’s still [very] quiet for my usual congestion, inflammation, & texture issues. As a disclaimer, I have [years] of experience with both OTC & Rx actives, as well as a high tolerance for irritation, so what I’m doing most certainly isn’t suitable for everyone. CUROLOGY START DATE: September 4th MUSELY START DATE: September 10th CURRENT DATE: September 19th I take progress photos about every 5th night in the same lighting, so I’ll update the one in this post tonight. PLEASE HELP. I’m desperate to heal my skin! 😭
Y’all, I’ve struggled with skin picking for a few years. A number of months ago I committed to stopping, because I desperately wanted clearer skin. The last few months have been a journey, but for awhile I was doing great. Fast forward to a 3 days ago, and I accidentally over-exfoliated my skin. Making matters worse, I relapsed with skin picking. I didn’t think I did much damage—I noticed my behaviors and stopped immediately, but because my skin was already in a compromised state, my skin wasn’t as resilient as it has been in the past. My birthday is in 6 days, and for the past couple of weeks I made it my goal to have clearer skin by my birthday (see the before photo 😭). Had I not messed with my skin, I’d be in great shape right now, but that is not my current reality. My skin is nearly perfect, sans the wounded areas, which are...awful. I know it is unrealistic to heal my skin within the next few days, but do y’all have advice for products I could use potentially to speed things along and minimize scarring? In general, I’ve been using Curology - Curology formula up until the over-exfoliating disaster, and I’m hoping to resume it once my skin is in a better state. At the current moment, I’m not using exfoliators of any type, nor retinols or derivatives of retinol. For the past two nights I’ve been applying a mask of aloe vera, manuka honey (UMF 26), and pure jojoba oil, and leaving it on overnight, which hasn’t hurt, but I imagine there’s more I can be doing. Earlier today I applied another thin layer of honey and aloe, and left it on my face for 15-20mins, and rinsed with room temp water, followed by cold water. - I followed that up by The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. - Applied a layer of COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence - Followed it up with Curology - The Moisturizer(I use their ‘rich moisturizer). - And applied a layer of Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Tubeto the wounded areas. Posting this is embarrassing AF and really difficult for me, but I am literally desperate to get things to a better state if I can. I’m willing to try nearly anything. Please, please help if you can.

Trying to clear my skin!!
I’ve been dealing with acne for about 2-3 years now, and I’m tired of it. My current skincare routine is: Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser This is what I use to wash, only giving it 3 stars because my skin always feels stripped after using it The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 While my face is still wet I use this and pat it in, I’ve got dry skin so it works great and gives nice hydration, however after is dries down my skin feels one again stripped. I think it might be because of the wash so I’ll definitely need to get a better one. My third product is my prescribed acne product(I have a picture of it above)so I cannot list it. I had helped a little but I don’t really see much of a difference anymore. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% This product had helped me a lot, my face isn’t as red as it used to be and helps with my blemishes a little. And I only use this when I am not using the prescribed acne product CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin I use this product as my moisturizer. I love how it’s not to thick but works great for my dry skin! The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane Provided me with extra surface hydration so my face doesn’t look dry and flaky Any suggestions?

Quick lil skin update
Phew my skin has calmed down so much since the last time I posted 10 days ago. I cannot even explain how bad purging was for me. I realized I had so much gunk clogged in my pores it was insane! My skin is finally calming down and getting smoother. Not completely, still have hyperpigmentation and some small comedones but I feel like I’m finally over the worst part🤞🏽😅 My current skin care routine definitely feels less harsh than what I was using in the beginning and is as follows: AM Routine: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser Gentle on my skin in the morning, not stripping or drying but kinda pricey I feel like you could find a similar, cheaper option SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face OilJust started using this for the past week so I can’t tell if it’s doing anything yet but it’s fast absorbing AND it’s THD Ascorbate (as opposed to Ascorbic Acid) meaning it’s more stable, can be mixed with niacinamide and other higher pH ingredients AND has a longer shelf-life The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HAAlso just started using this so not sure if it’s doing anything CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin A+, love to death elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 Another ride or die🤞🏽 PM Routine: BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil I’ve learned that I love cleansing OILS as opposed to balms but there are cheaper options out there ☺️ CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin Started using this again at night and so glad I did! It really feels like it’s cleaning and getting into my pores 🧼 (key: after washing my face for a minute I let the wash sit for another minute or 2 to let the SA really sink in) SKINCEUTICALS - Blemish + Age Defense MY HOLY GRAIL. Has really transformed my skin in the past 2 weeks, definitely recommend if you’ve got the budget cause this bad boy sits at $92 PURITO - Centella Green Level Calming Toner I apply this thick calming toner 15 minutes after letting my skinceuticals absorb in my skin and it’s so calming love it ACURE - Radically Rejuvenating Eye Cream Love this thick eye cream especially when I put it in my skin care fridge, not sure if it does more than moisturize though THE inkey LIST - Ceramide Night Treatment Nice consistency, not too heavy or light, but not sure if it does anything yet The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane 2 drops at night to seal everything in, has my skin waking up glowy and non irritated ✨

How-To: Heal and Protect Skin After Picking! ❤️
Skin picking generally affects most of us. From popping one pimple, scratching an eczema patch too hard, or dermatillomania, many of us have experienced the dread of making a pimple worse than it was before. These are some of my favorite products, tips and tricks for healing skin and keeping it safe during this gentle state. After the deed is done, it’s important to avoid actives and wash with a very gentle cleanser. My preferred is Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser due to the minimal and skin healing ingredients list, lack of fragrance and no harsh stripping feeling. I wash for 60 seconds and rise with cool water, patting dry very gently with a microfiber towel. Next, I ice my skin for around four minutes to bring down the swelling and inflammation (similar to icing a burn or a sprained ankle). I constantly move the ice cube as facial skin is delicate, but concentrate it in areas that I picked or that experience redness and inflammation or pain. Bonus tip: you don’t have to just use water. Freeze green tea and aloe cubes for the added bonus of healing and inflammation fighting ingredients. After icing, I use a gentle hydrating toner. The key is to introduce humectants (hydrated skin is happy skin) and other inflammation fighting ingredients like green tea and COQ10 (an antioxidant) to the skin to help the healing process start immediately. I then layer on my favorite moisturizer or oil— use something you trust with no essential oils, drying ingredients, actives or fragrance. My fav is pure jojoba oil, it’s super gentle, pure, and antimicrobial, with no additives. It leaves my skin healthy and supple, as it has high amounts of vitamin A and E. It locks in the hydration I’ve added with the toner, and acts as a gentle occlusive. Furthermore it doesn’t overwhelm my picked skin with additives that burn and sting. Lastly, I layer on a variety of thicker products in areas that need it to heal my skin depending on the damage. If the pimple is still active, I use a peach slices - Acne Spot Dots to keep it clean from further bacteria and to suck any remaining gunk out. If I have scabs or scratches, I use either skinfix - Eczema+ Dermatitis Face Balm or TOPICALS - Like Butter Hydrating Mask which both employ collodial oatmeal along with other barrier repair ingredients to heal, hydrate, and further protect skin.

Morning Routine
Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser I like the texture and the way it smells. Gentle on my face just not sure if it actually cleans my face. Glossier. - Super Bounce Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin B5 Serum haven’t seen much of a difference and I’m about half way done with my first bottle. It does leave my face smooth but does not last all day long. CLINIQUE - Redness Solutions with Probiotic Technology Daily Relief Cream I have been using this for a few years. I have been diagnosed with rosacea on my cheeks. I haven’t noticed a decrease in rosacea. I just use this moisturizer because I’m afraid to try anything else and experience a flair up. CLINIQUE - Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Sunscreen Face Cream thick/white consistency. Makes my t- zone kind of shiny. My face: I would say combination. Oily T-zone. Blackheads on my nose. Cheeks and chin on the drier side. Thinking the dryness is from the rosacea. Any ideas and comments would be greatly appreciated!

How I cleared my Acne - My AM and PM routine
Swipe left !! 🔙 So, my Hormonal acne is almost cleared up and I'm so excited to share with you how I cleared my acne as well as what products worked amazing for that! As shown in pictures six months back I had painful, bleeding cystic acne that flared up because of PCOS (Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome). Quick overlook of it's benefits- - Anti-microbial (hence kills acne causing bacteria) - Anti-inflammatory (reduces redness and look of blemishes) -Gently exfoliates skin (Unlike potent AHA but gives similar exfoliation) - Reduces skin texture and textural irregularities - Lightens and brightens dark spots, PIH, melasma by slowing down melanin production - Works well with almost all actives including AHA/BHA, Vitamin C, Retinols - Isn't photosensitive meaning you can use it in the morning as well as at night. Curology Review
Curology - The Cleanser It’s not clear if this product is for oily or dry skin. It seems to be for dry skin and I have oily skin. It seems to be a bit thicker than the Cerave Hydrading Cleanser. I have fungal acne and I ran this product through Sezia and it has products that wont help my fungal acne. Curology - Curology formulaIt’s too early to tell if my personal formula is working. My formula is Niacinamide 4%, Clindamycin 1%, and Zinc Pyrithione .25%. I have used Zinc Pyrithione before at 1% so I don’t know if this will help. Curology - The Moisturizer This moisturizer is very light weight which is good for my oil skin, but has ingredients that are bad for fungal acne. The acne body wash has Tea Tree Oil and I’m not sure how to feel about it. Since it’s a wash off treatment and meant for the body the fragrance isn’t too bad but I don’t like the smell. Overall: I wouldn’t recommend the moisture for oily skin. I’ll wait and see if I see any results before looking at my personal formula.

Week 1 of Tretinoin and Spirinolactone Journey
Week 1 of Tretinoin and Spirinolactone Journey
This is the end of my first week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. This first half is a repeat of last week’s post. The new info will be right below my posted routine. I purchased both treatments from Apostrophe, so they have been prescribed by a dermatologist. My Apostrophe cream formula is 0.025% Tretinoin and 4% Niacinimide. I’ve simplified my routine to only include a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, the tret cream and a sunscreen. I have normal skin. I’m looking to add more in as I adjust to treatment. My routine is as follows: AM Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 PM Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin Apostrophe formula (using this after moisturizer so I can have a buffer between the tret and my skin) So the morning after my first night of using tret, I experienced a bit of dryness in my forehead and on my nose. The quick fix for me was applying my moisturizer on slightly damp skin, rather than waiting until my skin was completely dry. I started breaking out two nights ago. I woke up with like 8 new friends on my face overnight😫. But this could also have been due to the food I was eating over the past couple of days. I happily enjoyed my tofu scramble with sriracha knowing darn well my dermatologist told me to avoid spicy foods and soy. 🥴 So, I’m cutting off soy, spicy foods, and dairy to see whether the food led to a flare up or if this was an early start to my purge. I’ve got these painful, hard bumps on my forehead and the pimples on my cheeks feel a bit sensitive. But, I’m going to wait it out and see how I feel before I apply tret in a couple of days. I’m still applying tret 3x a week, but plan to move to every other day at the start of August. As for the Spirinolactone, I’ve had to pee waaay more often than I usually do, but so glad I’m confined to my house during time. More updates next week 😊

Face acne update. Recommend sunscreen?
Hello all! So this is an update on my face 🙂 Ive noticed theyre less red and bold,, and theres less pimples/dark spots since 12 days ago. My skin comment form the app has always been “Smooth like butter” , but two days ago I got “Happy and Well-rested” once that night... interesting lol What I use: I’m trying to be safe with my skin care. Plus I don’t want to waste more money on unreliable products. So: Cleanse: Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser, morning and night Moisturizer: CeraVe - Renewing SA Lotion Topical cream: Precribed Differin , to be worn every night (cost $40 with health insurance) —- Since it’s summer and quarantine is not much of something I’d like couped up all day. I want to know if you have have any suggestions for (face) suncreens? pretty pls! Something that won’t irritate my sensitive skin? But useful to prevent from worsening my skin from the damaging sun! Stay safe every1

Hormonal Acne Routine 💪
Hormonal Acne Routine 💪
Heads up- this will be a long post! I usually have combo/ oily skin with breakouts here and there. I recently had a crazy hormonal acne flare up and after trying numerous products, I decided to see a dermatologist. Here’s the routine I’ve been following for just over a month and have seen improvement. 1. I wash my face with CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin morning and night. This cleanser is very gentle and doesn’t strip my skin or irritate my newly sensitive skin. I haven’t been wearing makeup so I can’t speak as to how good this is at removing makeup. For a daily cleanser, it’s a great option although I do find the price a little steep for a drugstore product at $15. A little goes a long way so I only use about half a pump each time! 2. I spray CAUDALIE - Grape Water on my face while it’s still a little damp. I bought the mini version at first and and about using it for a week, I ordered the bigger one! I reviewed this product separately as well and I didn’t have very high hopes. It really helps reduce sensitivity, provides a burst of hydration and preps my skin for the next product. It’s also fragrance free. 3. In the mornings, I apply Benzoyl Peroxide on the affected areas. I only keep it on for 5 minutes and then wash my face with cold water as per the dermatologist. I thought it might be more effective if I left it on and boy was I wrong. My skin was red and itchy and flaming and it was horrible. So listen to the expert!! 4. I then moisturize with CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin mornings and nights. I have to say, I’m still getting used to this one. As an oily girl, I’m used to using gel based moisturizers that sink right now. This I feel kind of sits on top of my skin... I know there’s a “lotion” as well which may be a little more suited for me than a “cream”. However, it doesn’t irritate my skin so I’ve stuck to it. 5. I finish my applying sunscreen with SPF 50. I’ve had this previously and I used it for oily skin. It hasn’t dried my newly combo/ sensitive skin so I’ve continued using this product. Night Routine 3 times a week, I apply DIFFERIN - Acne Treatment Gel to the effected area. I feel confident this has made a huge impact! It is of course drying but the CAUDALIE - Grape Water helps with that. I even use it as a spot treatment in between if I need to! This is a prescribed version but it’s also available OTC. Add Ons 1. JĀSON - Soothing 98% Aloe Vera Pure Natural Moisturizing Gel when my skin is feeling super sensitive (more so in the early stages) I used this instead of the CeraVe. It feels nice on the skin and is a natural product. 2. dermalogica - Daily Microfoliant Exfoliator I use this as I need it to exfoliate away any dead skin as a result of the creams I’m using. Gentle and doesn’t irritate my skin at all
