Tretinoin and Spironolactone Progress July-Dec

I’m back! And wow what a difference! I’ve since switched upped my dosage to Apostrophe 0.05% tret with 4% Niacinimide cream forumula beginning in November. I’m also taking 50 mg of Spirinolactone now. My face has definitively gotten a lot drier, with some mild peeling throughout the day (any tips are welcome!) I’m going to see how waiting 15 mins before apply tret after moisturizer and 15 minutes after tret will work Overall, I feel like my forehead has a smoother texture, and I’m seeing less breakouts. I now definitely want to start working on reducing the appearance of my acne scars, but with my face so dry right now, I’m not sure if that’s an option. I’m going to wait a while and talk to my derm about adding in any actives. Also very sad about the Purito sunscreen scandal :-( Here’s my routine below: Morning (focus on hydration and barrier) CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser
dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner
COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum HONEST - Hydrogel Cream
BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum
BRUJITA - Vegan Crema
Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 Night (applying tret nightly-wondering whether to reduce to every other day ) DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil
HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser
(or COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser
) dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner
COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
HONEST - Hydrogel Cream
Then putting BRUJITA - Vegan Crema
on my driest areas Apostrophe Cream BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum
BRUJITA - Vegan Crema

PreciousAjayiI use a moisturizer and the ordinary rose hip oil like 10 minutes after my tretinoin (0.01%) and i rarely experience dryness. It happens sometimes after washing my face but I think I just need to get a better cleanser. But either ways you should def try using tretinoin before the moisturizer and see how it works for you✨

Reintroducing Niacinamide into my routine!
Hi friends! I wanted to share a serum ( COSRX - AC Collection Blemish Spot Clearing Serum ) I picked up at a K-Beauty skincare store when I was visiting Chicago recently that i’ve been using for the past couple weeks! I was on the hunt for a nice AM serum, as I didn’t have one incorporated into my morning routine since making the grand switch to an all Korean brand skincare routine, so I thought this would be a perfect fit! I have a couple COSRX products already in my routine, including the COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and the COSRX - Propolis Light Cream ! The Propolis light cream has been a total game changer, and having a serum with Propolis as the main ingredient seemed promising since it has worked well for me so far! This serum also has a small amount of Centella which i LOVE!!!!! I was definitely hesitant at first to incorporate this product since the third ingredient is Niacinamide, and if you have kept up with my posts, you know that I had a pretty awful experience when I used The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (you can read about that a few posts down!) But I realized in this process that my skin is just much more sensitive than I thought, and TO brand definitely was not a good place to start using acids, especially when they sell it as such a concentrated percent! I didn’t realize before, but apparently it’s recommended that you should only be using 5%!!!!! Studies show that even at 2% you will see very noticeable differences with Niacinamide. ✨✨✨Anyways, back to this product review:✨✨✨ So far, nothing totally dramatic, hence why I’ve given 4 stars at the moment, although I will say since incorporating, it has definitely helped reduce some of the cheek acne that has stayed at constant “bumps” for months! All my long term acne has now flattened and although there are still slight scars, I’m hoping some of my other products will kick in to help reduce those! But I have had no complaints so far! The serum is a clear, very watery consistency, which was a bit surprising, as I assumed with the ingredient list including Centella and other oils it would be much more thick/oily. Not sure about the specific concentrations of each ingredient, as that was never information I could find online, however, I will definitely keep using this in the mornings! It has a very peculiar scent, almost like a faint minty smell, which doesn’t bother me at all, and it’s always very refreshing! Also, most importantly, it hasn’t caused any burning/ breakouts like my previous experiences with Niacinamide products... YAY! I definitely recommend for sensitive, combo/oily , acne prone skin!!!

Skin Journey
Just wanted to share my journey struggling with acne. Growing up I had perfect clear skin, no acne whatsoever, was comfortable going in public with no makeup on and I had a perfect complexion until I graduated high school and I started breaking out. I used to call it, puberty but backwards lol. I tried everything and nothing worked on me. I even tried changing my diet and stopped eating dairy and meat all in one but still, nothing changed. I even drank more water and that didn’t do anything either. I started watching Dr. Dray on YouTube about a couple years ago and I feel like she’s changed my routine. She says less is more and I swear by that. Remember: what works for me may not work for you. My skin is no where near perfect, but I’m extremely happy with how far I’ve come 🤍 Morning Routine: - (I try to wash my face once a day. Usually wash with only water in the morning) Sometimes I use Panoxyl if I’m breaking out. COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence (On damp skin) The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Serum The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Neutrogena - Sensitive Skin Oil-Free Moisture CeraVe - Face Sheer Tint Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 Night Time Routine: CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence The Ordinary Niacinamide and Zinc CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin When I first started my skincare journey, I mainly started out small using cleanser, moisturizer and SPF then slowly incorporated these serums into my routine. I started using products with no fragrance in them and I feel like that helped my skin out a lot. Also, I highly recommend watching Dr. Dray on YouTube!

Mature Skin Night Routine
So with al the products out there, I enjoy shaking it up and trying new things!!! I have begun a new routine!! DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil this is my start. It does an excellent job of removing al my makeup, without striping my mature skin of moisture. Murad - Renewing Cleansing Cream I use this as my second cleanse. I love the cream to foam feel. It too does an excellent job at keeping my skin hydrated. The Ordinary - "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% I use this every other day! I rotate this with the next product. I have been using this for about a month and I am loving how my skin is responding. The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion I use this alternating days of the “buffet”. This is a thicker consistency and I like it. This is so far a bonus to my routine. THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum this is my favorite hyaluronic acid at the moment. I’m sure I will try others along the way, and love them too. This absorbs well and does not leave my skin tacky. e.l.f. - Superhydrate Moisturizer I layer this right after my hyaluronic acid, which pulls moisture to the skin. This gives my hyaluronic acid the extra boost. This is a gel texture. I keep mine in my skin fridge and it feels like heaven on my skin. CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream this is my final step!!! I can’t live without this. This makes my skin so happy!! Mature skin peeps.... game changer! This keeps my skin full of hydration, gives my skin barrier exactly what it needs, and frankly since using this... my skin continues to look better and better! LANEIGE - Lip Sleeping Mask - Mint Choco Chip I finish with this little gem! This comes in several varieties, this one is the one I was gifted. I’m glad I was. Gives my kid hydration all night. Hope my tips help! If you have any, I would love to hear them. Taking care of ur skin is a journey we all seek to perfect!!!

Balm OR oil with mature skin????
So first let me say.... I don’t think you can go wrong with either of these products!!! They both are fabulous. When it comes to my first cleanse, I go back and forth between the two. They are both super affordable as well. Double cleansing is a GAME CHANGER for mature skin! Keeps my skin hydrated and prevents stripping your skin of moisture!!! BANILA CO - Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original this smells amazing. I like how easy this is and how soft my skin feels after I use it. I docked one star ⭐️ because it doesn’t quite get all my eye makeup off. Especially if I had been wearing falsey’s. That glue or magnetic 🧲 liner can be a bit tougher to remove. I felt like I really had to scrub my eyes. However, if I had not been wearing fake lashes..... it is a dream! DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil this is beautiful at removing makeup!! I rub it straight on my face and then add water 💦 and rinse. This doesn’t have a pleasant smell, but definitely does the job!! This one is liquid so it is slightly messier to use. But .... if I’m wearing falsey’s, this is my go to!! It takes it all off like magic!! I recommend either of these!! They both are great as a first cleanse!!! Try one, try both.... or do what I do..... rotate between them!!

My “Ordinary” Journey
My skincare routine needed a revamp but I didn’t know where to start. I wanted to use products with good ingredients but I know many companies “green wash” to make you believe all their ingredients are great. I did lots of research and decided to give The Ordinary a try. A little background on my skin: I have aging skin (I’m pushing 38) and it’s been on the dryer side since having kids. I also tend to get peri-oral dermatitis every winter. Then of course, I still get occasional breakouts! Yay hormones 😜 In September, as I was running out of my current skincare products, I replaced them with The Ordinary. I chose HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser as I didn’t want anything to harsh or stripping on my dry skin. After I cleanse, I mist my face with HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray then apply The Ordinary - Matrixyl* 10% + HA Because this contains HA, it should be applied to damp skin. On top of that I apply The Ordinary - "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% I gave this 4 stars because it’s sooooo sticky and takes a while to dry down before I can move to my next step. After that drys, I go for The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I may not have clear skin all of the time, but when I do get blemishes, they clear up very quickly. This stuff is amazing! I follow that with The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and COOLA - Classic Full Spectrum 360 Sun Silk Drops SPF 30 Since starting this routine, my skin looks so much better when I apply makeup and when I don’t wear any, My skin tone much more even. And this year, as winter approached, I did not develop peri-oral dermatitis. My skin retains moisture so much better than it ever has.

Worst product I’ve tried this year
FINALLY FINISHED THIS PRODUCT OMG!! Didn’t mean to post 2 negative reviews in a row but well here we are. So I just wanna say that just because this product didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. I have normal to oily skin but my skin is also sensitive and gets irritated easily so I do like products that claim to be gentle. My issue with the HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser is that it’s too gentle. I would have to use a lot of product for my face to actually feel clean and even then most of the time I felt like I was just washing my face with just water. Because this didn’t do a good job of breaking down my face oils and well cleansing my skin it led me to get a lot of skin texture and white heads luckily I had a couple other items that helped get rid of that. If you have dry skin I think this would work really well for you but it was a huge no for me.

Glass Skin > Ordinary Peeling Solution
Okay so a few weeks ago I made a post on how I changed my mind on The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Originally I was ready to bring it right back after trying for weeks but apparently I was keeping it on for too long and it was just making my skin worse. For the longest time, I was thinking that my skin has been so desensitized by products that I need to wear products for double the time they suggested (with hydrating products this sometimes works) but DEFINITELY not for this one. I started wearing it for 8-9 minutes rather than 10-15 and definitely seeing more improvements so I gave it a good review, but now that PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum has come into my life, I may have once again changed my mind. This is a serum that claims to smooth your skin and even tone using peach extract, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and peptides. Below I have provided Ulta’s notes on it! RECOMMENDED FOR: • Dullness and uneven skin tone • Rough skin texture • Wrinkles, fine lines, sagging • Dehydrated skin • Redness, inflammation WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU: • Peach Extract: full of vitamins, minerals, and essential acids to help keep skin resilient • Niacinamide: helps quell inflammation, brighten and provide antioxidative benefits • Asian Mountain Yam Extract: helps to reduce flakiness • Madecassoide: helps curb inflammation and stimulate collagen production • Hyaluronic Acid Complex: blend of short-chain, medium-chain and long-chain hyaluronic acid molecules that moisturizes every layer of skin, leaving it hydrated, plumped and radiant • Peptide Complex: proprietary blend of peptides that signals collagen production, helping fill fine lines and deeply-etched wrinkles, while firming skin for a smoother, glassier appearance Verdict: After using this serum ONE TIME I noticed a DRASTIC change in my skin that I was expecting from The Ordinary Peeling Solution and didn’t get after using for almost 6 months. Slowly it started to show results, but nothing even CLOSE to Peach and Lily. With Peach and Lily, not only do I see a total lack of acne and scarring that I had before, but the redness that normally shows in my skin is almost nonexistent and my face is finally the same shade as my neck. This is definitely one of my top 5 products I’ve ever used. How I Use: Morning: Wash my face with THE BODY SHOP - Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser Top with serum and a moisturizer with sunscreenCeraVe - Hydrating Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 50 Night: Wash my face with either the tea tree cleanser or bliss - Micro Magic depending on how long I wore my Covid mask that day (Micro Magic seems to help with maskne) Saturate a cotton pad with Fourth Ray - Waterfall Gentle Toner and rub it all over, let it dry and top with CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator

Sunscreen in a panoramic?
IMA BE HONEST on days that i don’t leave the house (which are most days) there is a 30% chance of me applying sunscreen. Are y’all applying sunscreen to your skincare routine in a pandemonium? I honestly just don’t want to waste product 😕 Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 💗love this stick because with my LONG acrylics, applying lotion evenly on my face without poking my eye or nose can be a hassle when i’m in a rush to get to work or to run to target. 🚨 minus one star because it has a faint chemically smell to it, purchased from urban outfitters. BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 no cast, no smell, no icky residue, black owned, cruelty free, and didn’t clog my pores! what’s not to love

Week 6 of Tretinoin + Progress
Looking back on my progress (Before and after) This is the end of my sixth week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. I purchased both treatments from Apostrophe, so they have been prescribed by a dermatologist. My Apostrophe cream formula is 0.025% Tretinoin and 4% Niacinimide. I have normal, but dehydrated skin. I’m looking to add more in as I adjust to treatment. My routine is as follows: AM HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence HONEST - Hydrogel Cream PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 (I use his to reapply SPF every 2 hours) PM DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule 40ml HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Apostrophe Tretinoin Formula CeraVe - Healing Ointment I can see my purging period slowly coming to a close. Whereas I got about (if we’re counting) 4 new bumps per day, I now get about 1 a day. And these ones disappear relatively quickly, so within 2 days max. The purging period is definitely the hardest because your skin is literally at its worst. All the congestion is coming to the surface. It’s really hard to lose sight of the progress you’ve made and feel like Tretinoin isn’t working so that’s why taking photos is important. So, I’ve chosen to show my progress from July 17 to today, September 3rd. This really gives me a glimmer of hope, as I was feeling pretty down while purging. Compared to others my progress is slow, because I slowly worked up to daily usage of Tretinoin. And every individual has a different experience with the purging period. For some it may last only 2 weeks or a month, and for others it may last 3-4 months. There’s no telling by looking at only other’s individual experiences how your experience will go. I really want to combat the hyperpigmentation left over from before and during the purging period (PIE and PIH). So once I’m sure my inflammatory acne is completely gone, I want to consider adding in another product to increase the speed at which my marks fade.

Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 3
Hey y’all! Today’s post is part 3 of 4 of my Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines series. In today’s post we’re covering @geralorentas and @robynkenner ! Starting with @geralorentas. She starts out by cleansing with theCeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser which costs $13 for 8 fl oz. This cleanser has super gentle exfoliating agents, as well as glycerin and Hylaronic acid which are very hydrating. Next she uses theRENÉE ROULEAU - Rapid Response Detox Toner which costs $41 for 6 fl oz. This toner, as far as toners go, is pretty good. Its main draws are Salicylic acid and Lactic acid which are great for dealing with acne. Next she uses theSKIN GRAMMAR - Super Good Repair Essence which costs $38 for 5.7 fl oz. This essence has Nicinamide and glycerin, as well as a ton of ceramides. Unfortunately it has orange peel oil. Citrus oils a extracts are extremely irritating to the skin because they are acidic, so I have to say no to this essence. Next she uses the RENÉE ROULEAU - Vitamin C&E Treatment which costs $69 for 1 fl oz. It has glycerin, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C, but again it has citrus oils and extracts which make this another no for me. Then to moisturize she goes in with the#Dr. zenovia - Peptide + Ceramide Moisturizer[products]#[FourStars] which costs $79 for 1.7 fl oz. This moisturizer has ceramides and glycerin. Finally she goes in with theLA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios XL Anti-shine Dry Touch Facial Sunscreen SPF50+ which I couldn’t find the price for. It’s a really good basic sunscreen. So that’s @geralorentas routine. For her I would recommend getting rid of the essence and the treatment, but otherwise the products seem great! Moving on to @robynkenner. She starts with a double cleanse, and we’ll talk in a minute about what she’s doing wrong. She starts with the The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser which costs $7.90 for 1 fl oz. The main ingredients in this are squalane and glycerin. A lot of people complain that this cleanser is so gentle is barely cleans, but it seems to work for @robynkenner. Then she uses theMurad - Clarifying Cleanser which costs $32 for 6.75 fl oz. The main draw for this product is Salicylic acid, but again it’s a no because of citrus oils and extracts as well as fragrance. Now I mentioned that she’s double cleansing wrong. Double cleansing isn’t just using 2 cleansers, it’s specifically using an oil based cleanser and then a water based cleanser. (Check out my post on double cleansing for more information) In this case, @robynkenner is using 2 water based cleansers which can be stripping to the skin, and isn’t considered double cleansing. She mentioned she started doing this because her skin didn’t feel clean with just the first cleanse, and I think this might be because the Squalane Cleanser is too gentle. Next she uses theNeutrogena - Hydro Boost Eye Gel-Cream which costs $25 for .5 fl oz. First off, eye cream should be at the end of a routine. The eye cream itself is great though. Next she usesThe Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution which costs $8.70 for 8 fl oz. I talked about this product in pt. 1, but in short it’s really good. And finally she uses the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream which costs $36 for 6 fl oz. This is a nice super thick basic moisturizer. So in conclusion @robynkenner, I’d try to find a new cleanser, then just add your eye cream after moisturizer instead of early in the routine. That’s all for pt. 3! Please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment below your favorite cleansers to help out @robynkenner, and follow me to join the family and for similar content. -Mae

Versed Skin Soak Rich Moisture Cream
VERSED - SKIN SOAK Rich Moisture Cream This moisturizer has vitamin e, algae extract, and squalane (it hydrates and replenishes the skin). Versed recommends that oily skin types only use this as a PM moisturizer, but drier skin types can use this for AM and PM. 👉🏻I like this moisturizer, but nothing beats HONEST - Hydrogel Cream . The Versed moisturizer is a very rich cream when you apply it to the skin, and soaks into the skin very quickly. I have dry skin, so I prefer moisturizers that leave a little residue on the skin to help retain the moisture. This moisturizer would work better as a AM moisturizer for me. If I use it as a PM moisturizer, I have to add a little face oil on top to help seal in the moisture. 💵This face cream is $17.99 at Target. It’s a decent price for the amount of product in the jar. This product would last a long time, Versed recommends using a pea sized amount and trust me, a little of this product goes a long way! ♻️Another thing I love about Versed; this container is recyclable (most of their product’s containers are). You just have to clean out the container and put it in your curbside recycling!

NEW FIND! And I’m pleasantly surprised!?
It was time to get a new moisturizer. I was currently using the HONEST - Hydrogel Cream paired with the PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer , RADHA BEAUTY - Rosehip Oil , and timeless SKIN CARE - Squalane Oil 100% Pure because I have pretty dry skin. I love both of those moisturizers (although I’m not fond of all the Paula’s choice Omega+ complex moisturizer ingredients, but I loooooove the texture and feeling of it ) and love my oils (I won’t stop using the oils), but knew I needed a richer cream and also wanted to keep it down to just one cream, for time and my bank accounts sake. So if you’ve seen my last post, I was deciding between 3 brands but I couldn’t decide and was also nervous to try a new moisturizer, even though I knew I needed one, because I’m also acne prone so a new moisturizer to me was just terrifying lol. I was about to just get my usual HONEST - Hydrogel Cream because I knew it didn’t break me out and I like it a lot, although not quite as moisturizing as I need, it was on the safer side and I can’t imagine going a day without a moisturizer on this Sahara desert of a face!!! But then I discovered this brand I’ve never seen before? It’s called Awake Human. It’s not even a listing on Cherie for me to add the product! I read the ingredients and was intrigued (scroll through pics to see ingredients list), but because of my fear of new moisturizers, I was hesitant.. but I decided to bite the bullet because the ingredients looked amazing, was cheaper than Paula’s choice and the honest beauty’s moisturizer, but had the same amount of product. I received it a few days ago and I am in love!!!!! Soooooo rich and creamy and hydrating feeling, and it had the same smooth, rich, texture as the Paula’s Choice omega moisturizer, that I love so much!!! It comes in a nice little pump type of packaging, which I like. Keeps bacteria and gunk out. If you scroll through my pictures, you’ll see it. And a little bit goes a long way! The picture you see of the product on my fingers is the amount I use, but you can totally use less, especially if you have more oily or normal skin. I just like a lot of moisturizer! Lol I’ve noticed my face is much less dry feeling and looks smoother with less texture. I will keep you updated, but I think this is my new fave!!!! I’m so excited lol. Here the link the purchase: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NWXJYVK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_YHI-Fb9BRJKT0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 If you’re hesitant but intrigued like I was, I strongly encourage you to just try it. And if it happens that doesn’t work for your face, because remember, everyone is different and skincare is not a one size fits all, then it would most definitely be a really really nice hand cream, that would fit nicely in your bag. Have you heard of this brand before? And if so, have you used anything from them?

✨NEW HOLY GRAIL EVERYDAY PRODUCT✨
found a serum that truly works!!💕🧡 StriVectin - Super-C Retinol Brighten & Correct Vitamin C Serum This product has made my skin feel more hydrated and my skin has been glowing ever since I started the product. This actually gave me instant results by the second day and I love it! The formula is super light weight, non-sticky and absorbs quick. It does have a light citrusy scent🍊.Although, I try to refrain from scented products for my face but this was an exception because this really worked for me. Best cleanser for acne prone skin
For #fridayfavorites I want to highlight a #cultfavorite COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser After hearing so many good things about this cleanser I had to try it. I ordered it from Stylevana and was happy that the order arrived in a week! For 11 CAD I think it’s value for money considering how good this cleanser is. It’s very gentle on my skin and I tend to use this cleanser more often than others. It has a gel like consistency and is not too foamy and a little goes a long way. It washes away impurities without stripping my skin. It has a low PH which is said to be effective in protecting our skin’s acid mantle. #acidmantle protects the skin from harmful bacteria that can cause acne and other skin problems. Low ph cleansers are also good for people with eczema and dryness. FUN FACT: did you know this product was crowd sourced!! Customers gave feedback to @cosrx asking for a low ph cleanser and they delivered! Isn’t that awesome! #fridayfavorites #funfactfridays #cosrxcleanser #cosrxph #fanfav #kleanbsecrets #myfavoriteproducts #skincareproductsthatwork #skincareproducts #skincarephotography #productphotographer #productphotography #torontoskincareblogger #skincareformen #skincareforallcultures

Self Care Sunday Routine: Cherie Made Me Buy It
Hey guys so this is a super extra self care Sunday routine. I do a weekly AHA exfoliation and I skipped last week because of my dermaplaning facial so I wanted to do it Sunday with the ever so famous and strong The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution !!!! My skin the next morning is so clear and soft, but a little tight. My dermaplaning facial is really allowing my skincare products to go to work!!!!! I do however favor my DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask over this product because this AM I still fell a little tight and dry. But all in all it did a pretty good job. Here is my step by step routine!! Kate Somerville - DeliKate Soothing Cleanser I cleansed twice w/ this. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution applied to a dry face and left on for only 10minutes. dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner this is very thick like an essence. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist with Reishi + Ashwagandha This has the finest mist I have ever experienced and absorbed very easily. Seemed very hydrating. The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer NATURIUM - Virgin Marula Face Oil 100% ****waited 60minuted then applied FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Pharma Arnica Relief & Rescue Mask This mask has a cooling affect that lasted until I fell asleep!!! I will continue to use this with my AHA masks. ***After using this product it's very important to wear sunscreen***

Week 5 of Tretinoin + BIG STORYTIME
Week 5 of Tretinoin + BIG STORYTIME
The dreaded purging period! Sorry for the late post—this is my progress form last week—- This is the end of my fifth week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. Since last week, I have made some significant changes to my routine, for reasons to be told at the end of the post. - Glow Stick SPF 50 (I reapply with this spf every 2 hours) PM DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule 40ml (for added hydration!) HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Apostrophe formula (using this after moisturizer so I can have a buffer between the tret and my skin) CeraVe - Healing Ointment The purging period, yeah that’s still happening 😩 Ok, so I was previously using the Aveeno spf. The white cast on this was horrendous, so I have been finding myself harshly rubbing the sunscreen in to get rid of the cast. And since I would reapply every two hours, I’d repeat this process frequently throughout the day. After a while, the consequences of harshly rubbing my face became obvious. For the past two weeks, my skin was ultra sensitive. My face stung while touching it. The Cerave hydrating cleanser and Cerave moisturizer for normal to dry skin would BURN. However, none of the other products I used burned. So, I ditched the Aveeno SPF, thanks to a very helpful commenter, and bought the Purito Centella Unscented Sunscreen and... white cast begone! I love to use the Supergoop glow stick to reapply because it leaves my face with a fresh glow. I no longer needed to rub my face so harshly. Yet only the Cerave cleanser and moisturizer still continued to sting. So, I switched my cleanser and moisturizer to Honest Beauty. I have used these products in the past, and loved them. I’ve never had a problem. So I used them, and no sting! I still have no idea why the Cerave cleanser and moisturizer continues to sting now. But for now, I’m halting use.

When talking about affordable
When talking about affordable options for skincare. I think it good to include all budgets. mizon AHA 8% Peeling serum. This is quite a good serum at slightly lower levels of aha than some of the more popular western brands but I still think it works nicely. I use this sometimes when my skin can’t handle the higher amount of acids. hadalabotokyo Moisterising whip foam. I always have a bottle of this around, it’s gentle, cheap, ph balanced and is sold in all the supermarkets in Asia. klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drops and Midnight Blue Calming Cream. The vitamin drops is quite a nice gentle vitamin c serum, containing 5% asorbic acid. Not strong enough for me but a serum that’s pack with quite a few goodies like peptides and Centella. The cream is great for irritated skin and sunburn, containing guaiazulene. cosrx is a popular brand, quite simple ingredients and a good price point, I’m still trialing their stuff, i haven’t had a The next start with their stuff but the BHA power liquid is great, I use it on more congested areas. The face wash is cheap and ph balanced. A little to dry for my skin but some would like it. heimish All Clean Balm. Does a good job of removing make up and sunscreen. I use as a first cleanse. It doesn’t have the best smell but the tub will last you a while. So this is just a little run down of some budget-midpoint options.

Restarting my Acne Journey
Restarting my Acne Journey
Hi all! This is a little vulnerable for me: I usually never post or go outside without at least a bit of makeup. BUT! I’m restarting my efforts to fix my acne with a new routine, and I know there’s a lot of people who struggle with this. So, here’s my face! I’ve been using DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel for two weeks now and the purging is starting, so hopefully this is the worst it will get. I’m hoping with continued use to see some progress and to track it here! I have experienced stinging and some severe sensitivity while my skin gets used to it, but after two weeks the stinging is dying down. I’ve been dealing with hormonal/cystic acne for 10 years now, and believe it or not this is the best it’s been in years. I’ve slowly figured out what works for me, and wanted to share those tips. BUT, if I’ve learned anything in the past ten years about acne it’s that you need to listen to your own face: even if 1000% swear by something, if it doesn’t work for you, it doesn’t work for you. I have super oily skin, so if you have dry or combo, the listed routine will most likely not work. But for my oily pals, here’s the routine that’s improved my skin so far: Morning: FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser I love how calming and non-stripping this cleanser is, but it still manages to reduce my oil FARMACY - Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherry to target acne scarring Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 to protect from sun damage and irritation. I HAVE TO use a gel formula for moisturizers/sunscreens, or else I break out like crazy. That’s the number one issue I’ve figured out with my face. This one has a nice gel cream texture and is lightly moisturizing, but doesn’t turn me into an oil slick. Night: First cleanse/makeup removal with GOOD MOLECULES - Instant Cleansing Balm Second cleanse with FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser Apply pea sized drop of DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel If my skin is feeling good and non-irritated, I use LANEIGE - Special Care Water Sleeping Mask for just a bit of moisture overnight If my skin is feeling irritated/tight, I’ll use GOOD MOLECULES - Squalane Oil for a heavier hit of moisture. If my skin is REALLY irritated, I follow with Dr. Jart+ - Cicapair Tiger Grass Calming Mist to try and calm my skin down So here we go! Hoping to see some improvements next month. Trying my best to be patient and consistent this time, which is the hardest but most important part. Thanks for reading, and good luck on your acne journey! #CherieCreator #acne #pimples #acnecare #cysticacne #hormonalacne
