Is it worth it? Vitamin C edition🍊
🍊What are the claims? •Sunday Riley C.E.O Vitamin C Serum - a high potent, fast absorbing serum infused with 15% vitamin C to fight the look of dullness, darkness, & increasing brightness, radiate & luminosity. For all skin types & tones. $85 for 1oz. •E.L.F Beauty Shield Vitamin C serum - a fast absorbing, vitamin C pollution prevention serum. It has vitamin C, E & pomegranate extract to help fight darkness & skin stress. For all skin types. $16 for .93oz. •Murad Rapid Age spot serum - a fast acting spot lightening treatment that is formulated to help fade the look of dark spots, age spots & sun spots. $60 for 1.2oz. 🍊Texture/Consistency? •C.E.O - is a lightweight cream consistency •Elf - is a lightweight oil •Murad Rapid age spot serum - a thick gel 🍊My thoughts? I really enjoyed all of them! But I defiantly prefer the Murad & elf duo! You can get both for the price of the one Sunday Riley product. Plus I think the elf & murad Duo brightens & actually works better in my opinion! I wasn’t too impressed by the ceo glow, it wasn’t my cup of tea! It worked for a vitamin C serum but it is way too expensive in my opinion & I wouldn’t purchase the full size! However, I love the elf & Murad since I can use more of whichever or less of whichever. I use the elf all over my face day or night depending on my mood & my skin. I think it really hydrated my skin & brightened it. My sensitive skin wasn’t irritated by this product & I will defiantly repurchase! The Murad spot treatment is worth it too! I suffer from acne scars & this stuff has been a lifesaver! It helps lighten my scars in a couple of days where I really notice a big difference! And it doesn’t irritate my skin either which is great. Will you try any of these products out? Babe you before?! Let me know! SUNDAY RILEY - CEO 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum

I have been loving this e.l.f. - Beauty Shield Vitamin C Pollution Prevention Serum with the warmer weather lately! I’m always skeptical about Elf, like I’ve said before, but it really doesn’t ever disappoint me! I’m going to need to try more of their skincare. The serum is super lightweight and doesn’t make your skin feel sticky or heavy at all. It have vitamin c and pollution protection which is perfect for spring/summer since you’re outside a lot more! I love the applicator as well, it’s a dropper so you can put it directly on your face in the spots you want and then pat it into your skin. I usually use about three small drops. My skin type is combination/dry and this serum has been perfect for it! This has quickly become one of my go-to serums for the season. You obviously cannot beat the price point either with it being elf! You can get it pretty much anywhere. Would definitely recommend trying out this serum for spring!

I’ll start this off with my favourites: MISSHA - Missha All-around Safe Block Essence Sun Milk I’m so sad that I’ve run out of this. If you don’t like the feel of sunscreens that feel thick and heavy, pick this up! you won’t regret it! I also ran out of the Volition sunscreen that I paired along side this one, but recycled it before I took a picture. Briogeo - Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Hair Mask (📍) Again, was so sad to run out of this, check out my post featuring this and the new hair mask I picked up for more info! THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum If I could give this 100 stars out of 10, I would. This is my favourite serum of all time and I always have two back ups in my collection! Now for my meh products: SUNDAY RILEY - CEO 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum I liked the way that this felt don’t get me wrong, but I think because of the shimmer effect it has, it may have been breaking me out a bit. This didn’t have enough in it to last me long enough to see any effects. Kate Somerville - DeliKate Recovery Cream this is unbelievable. Although I will never buy this at the $104 price point, it’s a beautiful, thick, heavy cream. Wonderful for winter skin. fresh - Sugar Hydrating Lip Balm, Watermelon I actually have the lime+mint scent, but this is also amazing. I’ve just began started applying all my lip balms on damp lips, and I’ve found it’s made the biggest difference. No more dry lips! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Sili™ Body Lotion (📍) If you’ve seen my marula oil post, you’ve seen that I don’t support Drunk Elephant anymore, this is one of my last products I have from them (that they sent me) and it was too light to be a body cream. I have really dry legs and this didn’t do the trick. I ended up keeping this on my desk as a hand lotion and it worked well! Now for my no good product: Too Faced - Better Than Sex Mascara (📍) I don’t understand that hype around this mascara. On me, it doesn’t make my lashes look longer or fuller, it flakes super easy and it doesn’t hold my curl. Happy to have finished this so I can move on. 📍= product was sent to me for free

To take a page from my friend @Mallorywho does #samplesaturday - sharing mine a day late 🤗 To purchase list (TPL)- YES or NO? alpyn beauty - PlantGenius Melt Moisturizer While I only got two 2 of this in 1 day, am & pm, I was able to determine it’s not for me. The scent was off-putting, a very natural scent which I wouldn’t mind if it didn’t linger. It’s also got some oils in it that can be irritating. At $60 this is a very pricey moisturizer. It claims the benefits of Bakuchiol (retinol alternative), Squalane and Vitamin C BUT you don’t see these ingredients until over half way through the ingredient list! TPL - NO REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm $49 I really liked this. I like to really moisturize up at night so I would add my nightly moisturizer and top off with a thin layer of this balm. I had no issues with a sticky mess and my hair (or pet hair) all over my face as I have had with a previous balm. One ⭐️ taken for fragrance. TPL - YES DIOR - Capture Dreamskin Care & Perfect A gorgeous primer/serum but incredibly overpriced at $120! Not as fragrant as some I’ve used before being it has the added fragrance but there are more reasonably priced options available, Tatcha’s primer even being half the price! TPL - NO TATCHA - The Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream $60 This eye cream is THICK! It’s more like a balm that is meant to melt into your skin. For me it was hard to spread around my eye area. I would try to warm up between my fingers first but just didn’t find it easy to work with. I’m not a fan of using fragrance around my eyes either. While I love Tatcha I have other eye creams I’d rather use. I also did not like product in this type of container, very small and not sanitary given the texture. TPL - NO SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment $120. I believe I’ve talked about this one before. It is such a small sample but a tiny (pea-size) amount is only needed. So I was able to determine this was non-irritating to my skin. It’s got a pretty decent ingredient list except for the fragrance. I prefer using Farmacy’s Honeymoon Glow with AHA & BHA at half the price. TPL - NO Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum $72. While I initially thought this was working for me I’ve realized it may have brightened some areas of skin but did not help fade or reduce my spots. A pretty simple serum to use with no issues in my routine. TPL - NO LANEIGE - Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer $33 A HIGHLY popular toner that has a pretty simple ingredient list. I love a good hydrating toner and this hits the spot! It’s easy to transfer from my hands to my face and my skin drinks it up. I was able to add as many layers as I’d like without any side effects. Only downside is Laneige is not cruelty free. TPL - NO ❤️🍒
Empties - will I repurchase?
I complied them all together, my empties over the last few months, and will split into two posts. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Facial Radiance Pads I love these for the convenience. They are daily treatments pads with lactic and glycolic acids to safely exfoliate the skin, helping it appear brighter and approve texture. I was able to use these daily if I wished but being I use a retinol I didn’t use them on the night I would use my retinol. For me, they didn’t pack enough punch. I’ve been using a lot one my face over the last few years and while I still have to be careful, I find there are products that just don’t do it for me. These would be great for beginners or those with sensitive skin. 60 pads for $34 - again I liked the convenience but I feel you get more bang for your buck with a liquid exfoliate cause I sure get more then 60 uses out of mine. ⭐️No-repurchase CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Brightening Solution Set I’ve reviewed this before so I am not going to go into details. Please check my page if you’re looking for more info on it. I really do love the serum but I find I like the results I get from using a vitamin c and exfoliating. I need more than just a brightening solution as I have some scaring. The serum in this set is so very good for its brightening abilities. I went through three sets before giving it up. I do notice my face is not as glowy but I’m not sure if that’s from me being a bit more lazy with my skincare routine or from missing this. We’ll see. ⭐️Possible- repurchase YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi Not my favorite but is a good moisturizer. I’ve also reviewed this before. I prefer their Superfood Whip Moisturizer over this as I just like the texture and it’s a great daytime moisturizer for me. More in-depth review on my page ⭐️No-repurchase YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial I’ve reviewed this twice now so please see my page. Thais will be a forever purchase as of now! Definitely a fave of mine. I use once a week. ⭐️ repurchase YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask same as the last. I’ve purchased three so far. My favorite night time moisturizer. More in-depth reviews on my page ⭐️repurchase Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum this formula has changed as it had an ingredient that was bad. I have went through 3 original minis and loved the results but won’t repurchase due to the formula change. I saw almost instant results in spots being lifted. I have now switched to their Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment and it works just as good. I’m continuing to work on stubborn acne spots and when I am consistent with this and exfoliating, my scars and spots are almost invisible! ⭐️repurchase Invisiscar ❤️🍒
Summer Fridays Cc Serum
What is it? A richvitamin C serum that helps to brighten the skin and reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dark spots to leave a bright and glowing complexion. Targets those with normal, dry, combination and oily skin types. Ingredient highlights are vitamin C, squalane, peptide complex, niacinamide, botanical cocktail of fruit and flower extracts, coffee, green tea and clove for inflammation. Two forms of vitamin C 3-0 ethyl ascorbic acid(a more stable form of vitamin C) and ascorbyl glucoside (another more stable form). Since these are more stable they might be less effective than vitamin c true form! I love how this also contains niacinamide that has amazing antioxidant and anti inflammation properties. Squalane, derivative of squalene has amazing properties to keep the skin hydrated and balanced where it should be and overtime has anti-aging benefits. Overall the ingredients are amazing and vitamin C and niacinamide are some of the first ingredients after water. My experience: this is an aamaaaazing serum. It has the best consistency. I’d say it’s between light and thick. It has a faint almost floral scent which isn’t overpowering and i actually loooove it. It soaks in relatively quick and leaves me with the softest skin. It also feels super hydrating. On days i didn’t use this, i noticed a more dull complexion that was not as “filtered”, and noticed my skin would dry out more quickly. Other vitamin C serums I’ve tried were sticky and almost drying but this is the total opposite. The combination of ingredients work perfectly. I’ve used an entire bottle that lasted about 2 months or so and my skin was at its best while using this. I have noticed a slight fading of my stubborn hyperpigmentation spots, but i still have redness in my lower cheeks (which can be helped with other products). It works well with my other products, no pilling or irritation, just a happy glowing face! To me, this is my perfect product. I am only knocking one star off because it is a bit high for my personal price point. SUMMER FRIDAYS - CC Me Vitamin C Serum

I’m obsessed with the Mad Hippie C Serum. The brand was nice enough to gift me a replacement of the Vitamin C and the Hydrating Nutrient Mist to try. I find that Vit C can be really tricky for acne prone/sensitive skin, and at the same time it’s highly recommended for lightening pigmentation and as an antioxidant. I really think this serum would work for literally anyone - it’s super lightweight and gentle. As for the mist - we will see! I’m really trying to up my antioxidant game, so let’s see how we go 👀.
Mad Hippie-Vitamin C Serum
Great serum for radiant and healthy skin!
Claims: Non-water based and high concentration serum for brightening. Helps with skin brightening, soothing, evening out skin tone and elasticity whilst providing a healthy and balanced skin. Key Ingredients- 86.14 % Vitamin Tree Extract (aka Sea Buckthorn), Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, Centella Asiatica Extract and Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract The overall consistency is lightweight and a little runny. It is fast absorbing, spreads easily and leaves no film or occlusive layer. There is no sticky/tacky feeling and it gives you a nice dewy glow. Overall, it feels comfortable and nourishing on the skin. I use this serum both day and night and at the essence stage. I find that it sits well under other skincare, sunscreen, makeup and had no problems with pilling. However, I do avoid using this serum on humid days since I did look shiny by the end of the day. There is a light citrus scent from the EO’s which I don’t mind because it is not overpowering and the scent goes away after a few seconds. I felt like this serum didn’t do much when it comes to fading away acne scars or hyperpigmentation. However, it did make my complexion look more radiant and healthy. My skin felt smooth, supple and more plump. It really helped with improving my skin texture and tone. Therefore, this serum worked well in terms of brightening up my overall complexion. Also, it provided the right amount of hydration as it did not cause any tight or dehydrated feeling. Overall, I like this serum for when my skin looks tired and dull and needs that extra boost. For brightening and fading hyperpigmentation I saw better results using a concentrated Vitamin C serum. The only major downside is the scent from the EO’s. Otherwise, this is a good all rounder serum.

The vitamin c of my dreams
Summer Fridays cc me serum - • Price: $64 • Skin types: normal, dry, combination and oily • Product function: A multitasking serum that naturally brightens, improves skin texture, and reduces dark spots and hyperpigmentation. • Target concerns: dullness, texture, dark spots, hyperpigmentation • Key ingredients: vitamin c 1&2, squalane, peptide complex, niacinamide • Ingredient callouts: vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free • Texture: thin, super light nude color, shiny • Fragrance: light, fresh, and floral • How I use it: every morning after toner and before essence • My opinion: I bought the cc me serum as soon as it was launched (especially because it came with a free t-shirt), and I am now on my second bottle thanks to my sephora gift card from cherie. This is the best vitamin c for my skin that I have tried; it is thin and not sticky at all which is hard to find in a vitamin c, plus it has a very pleasant fragrance. I have been using this serum consistently for about 3 months now and I am very impressed with the results. My skin looks a bit more smooth, bright, glowy, and plump after each use. I definitely recommend the cc me serum to anyone who is the market for a new vitamin c serum, but I would definitely do a patch test or try a sample first because I have heard of others having a bad reaction to it. CC Me is a little bit pricey at $64 but I definitely think it is worth it because it is the best vitamin c serum around that price range for my skin that I have tried. I will always repurchase!

GLOW Vitamin C Serum! ✨
The Valjean Labs Vitamin C serum is marketed as a serum that helps brighten and even out skin tone. It targets dark spots, dull skin, and provides an extra boost of protection. The texture is soft and smooth and applies very nicely without being too sticky. I’ve used this product for about a month and I decided to try it after I saw it for a good price at Marshalls! & I was trying to slowly introduce Vitamin C into my routine. I like this product because it’s very hydrating and I’ve actually seen a difference in the glow of my skin whenever I apply it. I actually had this product recommended to me by a friend and I would for recommend it to anyone trying to find an affordable Vitamin C serum. The product is worth it for the low price and efficacy of it! 🦋 VALJEAN LABS - Valjean Labs Facial Serum

Youth to the People Firm and Brighten Serum
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Firm and Brighten Vitamin C Serum This serum is a little thicker than water but not as thick as a usual hyaluronic acid serum. I’ve used it for a couple of weeks as the first step after my toner and it makes my skin feel hydrated immediately. Overtime I could tell some overall brightening, especially in some of my spots. It works well for sensitive skin and I believe it would work for everyone from dry to oily skin. It feels amazing on the skin, but sells for 60$ for 30ml. I would repurchase if it was a little cheaper, but I could easily find a simple hyaluronic acid serum and a vitamin c serum for that price. Love it but a little too pricey!

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
