Let’s talk about face rashes!

I honestly don’t see a lot of posts dealing with irritation in a form of a rash. But this is my biggest skin problem, so I’m always ready to share whenever I find an amazing product. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Oatmeal Mask
is literally a miracle product! I used it one time and I’ve already seen a significant reduction in my rash. I couldn’t believe my eyes! Usually when my skin is aggravated, i stop using all active ingredients and focus on gentle products like Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
and while it usually helps calm everything tf down (lol), the rash is pretty persistent. I’ve talked about how I’m trying to stop using hydrocortisone creams for my face rash because they have some pretty bad side effects (see my previous post about hydration). So you can imagine my utter frustration when I couldn’t get rid of my rash...honestly I don’t know who was more aggravated in the second picture: me or my face 😂. But I think I’ve found the game changer. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Oatmeal Mask
will now become a permanent staple in my skincare routine! I am also excited to try their sunscreen, which I will be reviewing momentarily! Please share your experiences with this skincare line! What products have you used and loved? Hated? Didn’t make a difference? Do tell!

📚 𝓢𝓴𝓲𝓷𝓬𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓛𝓲𝓼𝓽 📚
💳🛍I recently went on a book ordering spree... (😝one of my favorite things, besides skincare splurges) 💻 Even though we can get seemingly endless information about skincare online, I was curious to seek out some books because I love the tactility & I really hate reading on a screen. Regarding ingredients, there is a plethora of opposing information online, & I’m sure these books will yield some of that too. It’s important to cross reference your searches, meaning checking multiple sources & comparing that information. It’s also important to consider what site is providing the information & whom might benefit from it. 📚Swipe to peek inside📖 PRETTY ICONIC A Personal Look at the Beauty Products That Changed the World By Sali Hughes 2016 💄$18-$21 (paperback version) I was most excited about this one, I’m a big fan of pop culture history & of course I love beauty products. I think this book would likely find a loving home on many of your coffee tables☕️ With over 400 pages of iconic & cult popular skincare & cosmetics products from over the decades, this is such a fun addition to any beauty fanatics collection! THE BEAUTY GEEK’S GUIDE TO SKINCARE 1,000 Essential Definitions of Common Product Ingredients By Deborah Burnes 2019 👩🏽‍🔬$15-$18 • 178 pages A really great resource for looking up both chemical & botanical ingredients. The vast majority of the book is just like a dictionary. It also includes some natural recipes & remedies, as well as source references for all ingredient info. MAKEUP IS NOT (JUST) MAGIC A Manga Guide to Cosmetics & Skin Care Written & illustrated by Ikumi Rotta 2019 🌸$14 • 135 pages This super cute manga was translated into English earlier this year. It takes the form of a guide to the basics of Japanese skincare & makeup application by following a loose narrative of a young woman who writes about beauty products on social media (sound familiar?😻) I read a lot of manga, I’m impressed by this high quality paper! THE KOREAN SKINCARE BIBLE The Ultimate Guide to K-Beauty Secrets By Lilian Yang, Leah Ganse & Sara Jiménez 2018 Makeup chapter by Esther Sandoval 💗$13 (hardbound) 🇪🇸This was actually originally published in Spain as: ‘El Arte Coreano del Cuidado de la Piel’ It’s a cute little 189 pages, straightforward & informative. THE LITTLE BOOK OF SKINCARE Korean Beauty Secrets for Healthy, Glowing Skin By Charlotte Cho 2015 ☁️$26 (hardbound) 212 pages The creator of Korean beauty shopping site, ‘Soko Glam’ & skincare brand, ‘Then I Met You’ wrote this very cute & approachable book full of Korean skincare tips for beginners➕if you’re ever in Seoul, there’s a nice section on all the spas, salons & stores to hit up. K-BEAUTY : THE FACTS Korea’s Top Dermatologist Reveals the Insider Truth about Korean Skincare By Hae Shin Chung 2020 🇰🇷$13 • 175 pages This book aims to debunk &/or demystify many Korean skincare myths with science, graphs & knowledge from 1 of South Korea’s most renowned dermatologists.

Face Mask for Sensitive Skin 🧖🏻‍♀️
It’s sometimes hard to find face mask that are dedicated to sensitive skin. Most masks I’ve come across, are formulated to combat acne & exfoliation. This is why I was super excited to try out the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Oatmeal Mask ! This mask is formulated with Colloidal Oatmeal and Avena Sativa Oat Bran with Botanical Antioxidants, all aimed at repairing and reviving your skin. After thoroughly washing my skin, I apply this onto my face and leave on for 10 mins. The consistency is creamy, thick, and has little oatmeal fragments in it. It is unscented, but because of the oatmeal and vanilla extract, there is a slightly “sweet” scent it gives off. After removing the mask, I follow up with my Niacinamide or Hyaluronic Serum, and then the Herbivore Emerald Oil to help soothe any irritation. This mask retails for about $25, which is fairly reasonable for a well-formulated and effective product. I have yet to find a mask that works the way this does, so for now, there is no other product I can truly compare this to. However, this will continue being a staple in my skin cabinet. Whats your favorite mask for sensitive skin? Would love to know your suggestions xoxo #CheriePartner

Seasonal Allergies affecting your Skin?
Picture this: a gorgeous Spring day, but you can't enjoy it due to your allergies. You may be plagued with numerous symptoms. Itchy eyes, sneezing, headaches, or a scratchy, sore throat can seriously affect your day. But did you know these allergens can also affect your skin? •Who is affected? Some people are more prone to seasonal allergies than others. It often runs in the family! It can depend on geographic location as well. Children usually see the most issues with skin irriations. •What does it look like? Common allergens can cause skin rashes and irritation as well as dry and redness from exposure. This can be from direct contact or airborne. For people who deal with eczema, this can mean flare-ups more often. Hives are often a hallmark symptom of seasonal allergies. These can happen quickly and be itchy, raised bumps. ☆Telling the difference between between normal skin sensitivity and allergen induced irritation can be difficult. However, typically you will only notice issues caused by allergies during peak seasons. These rashes may erupt shortly after being outside. •How to avoid and treat skin issues from seasonal allergies: It may not always be that easy to just stay inside, but you can avoid going out during peak hours (midday) when possible. Be sure to wash the skin gently and apply topical creams to soothe the skin. Here are some products to check out: CeraVe - Eczema Body Wash This wash is great for those who has sensitive skin. It can help to gently remove bacteria while treating eczema flare ups. Aveeno - Baby Soothing Relief Emollient Cream This thick cream provides a protective barrier over cracked or chapped skin. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Oatmeal Mask If the delicate skin on the face gets irritated, then using a calming mask can help. This oatmeal one by FAB is great and will help to hydrate as well! Do allergies affect your skin? What have you used to help?

So last week I stayed at my boyfriend’s place and for some reason, unknown to myself, I forgot my regular face wash. So all I had was his face wash (you can tell he loves skin care as much as I do... 😝). Overall, it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve used since the start of my skin care journey but also not the best. I am all for drugstore buys but I not all products are created equal. Clean&Clear - Morning Burst Oil-Free Gentle Daily Face Wash is really heavily scented, which isn’t a problem for my skin but I see it being a issue for some more sensitive skin. It smells nice, like oranges 🍊 and it has vitamin c exploding beads. Cudos to my boyfriend for unwittingly buying a product that has vitamin c. This cleanser is gently foaming but I don’t feel like it adds anything to my skin and actually strips my skin of everything. So my skin does feel really “clean” but I’m not sure that’s the feeling I want. Overall, it worked in a bind but I wouldn’t recommend this to buy. Plus this week, I have a breakout on my chin which might be from this cleanser or from my hormones 🤷🏻‍♀️.

My new Self-Care Saturday Clay Mask! 🧖🏻‍♀️🛀🏻
My new Self-Care Saturday Clay Mask! 🧖🏻‍♀️🛀🏻
I used this mask for the first time tonight and will be going to the store to buy more tomorrow. I have been struggling with hormonal acne after having a baby. I am a complete newby to skin care...a breakout to me in the past was getting 1 pimple or blackhead. My idea of washing/cleansing my face was using a makeup remover wipe, which didn't even always happen 🤦🏻‍♀️. If I used soap and that's a big IF I would just use my regular dove body wash (I'm sure many are cringing at the thought) Well, needless to say my skin is irritated AF and super sensitive to even touch at the moment. I've been going through a crash course of basic skincare for the last 3 months. I was looking for a mask that I could use for a little self-care Saturday mommy time and wanted something soothing but would also help me out....I believe this will now be a regular for Self-Care Saturday! I first used a basic cleanser to wash the day away. This is my morning wash but I wanted to use something simple without actives before my mask. SOAP & GLORY - Face Soap And Clarity Facial Wash This mask has a pretty thick consistency so I used a cheap 3 dollar foundation brush to apply it. The one time use pod has enough to use for 2 masks but tonight I just used it all at once. You leave it on for 15-20 min. It has a nice cooling sensation while it's on and it didn't over dry or make my face feel like it was shrinking. It was super easy to wash off and I noticed right away that not only was my skin SUPER smooth but also a lot of the redness disappeared and my inflamed bumps had flattened. My skin feels amazingly clean AND hydrated. Neutrogena - Deep Clean Purifying Wash-Off Clay Mask

UPDATE:
This has really been
UPDATE: This has really been such an frustrating and disheartening process because, despite periodic improvements, my acne has generally gotten worse over time. But seeing different medical professionals recently has brought the big picture together and I’m hoping to see sustained improvements with a little guidance. First, I finally got in to see a derm and within seconds of seeing my face, told me that this is hormonal cystic nodular acne. Then, immediately after that, strongly recommended accutane. Discouraged that this was her first recommendation, I asked about some other treatments that I had researched. We settled on a 2 month course of doxycycline with topical tretinoin. After that, there will be a follow up to consider spironolactone. Then, I made an appointment with my gyno. Together, we realized that my switching from the pill to IUD contraceptive a couple years ago may have led to this exacerbation (oral contraceptives can treat hormonal acne). Since I had been on the pill since I was 18 (am currently 26), my hormonal acne was subdued for years. We are waiting on results for hormone levels to direct my care. I’ve also researched possible influence of food intolerances, stress, etc that will have to be considered. Skincare will go a long way but it is good to know that I am approaching this from a holistic standpoint considering that OTC products for skincare alone may only be successful for ~20% of cases of hormonal acne. —————————— Hello! This is my first post. My skin type is combination. Im normally acne prone around the jawline, and now with COVID, have to wear a mask for all 12 hours of work! The friction and closed environment has made it really challenging to manage breakouts, which get bad with workdays and only begin to recover in between shifts. Currently using PanOxyl - Acne Foaming Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Maximum Strengthtwice a day. I follow with DICKINSON'S - Witch Hazel Liquid as toner. I’ve been skipping my normal vitamin C serum to avoid added irritation. At nighttime I use CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion and in the daytime I use Neutrogena - Clear Face Break-Out Free Liquid-Lotion Sunscreen SPF 55. I’m not sure if this is fungal acne or how to tell. Working to not pick! I’ve seen this routine clear existing bumps very slowly and a lot of the marks just need to fade and are effectively cleared. I read that I may need to change detergents and clean pillow cases, clean phone, avoid touching face etc. and am hoping to get some advice or feedback for my current plan.

Can Alya Skin fix my crusty face?
Can Alya Skin fix my crusty face?
After months of seeing adverts on all of my social media (and being blessed by the skincare gods with a 30% off sale), I have finally gotten my grubby lil goblin hands on the alya skin. - Complete Skincare Bundle After a night of no sleep, menstrual cramps and existential crisis (thanks PCOS 🙄) I decided to have a shower and treat myself to a little DIY spa time. My skin troubles of the day were gross hormonal acne with a hint of red, dry and sad looking skin. First impressions on these products: in love with the look! super cute packaging (I really like the colour pink so IMMEDIATE gold star there), simplistic and clean style, clear instructions on the back makes for a happy skincare newbie like myself. alya skin. - Foaming Micellar Cleanser was fun to try out! Two pumps were more than enough to cover my damp face with, massaging in circular motion for maximum cleansing and freshness. However, my one comment was more about the scent. I had no idea if I was delusional from menstrual cramps, but it almost smelled savoury to me. Smell aside however, I was happy with the result of a nice, clean face. alya skin. - Pomegranate Facial Exfoliator made my skin feel as soft as a baby’s bottom. I’d advise to be gentle with it however, I’m a rough exfoliator myself and the size of the pebbles were too big to go to town on. Still a good product though! alya skin. - Skin Pink Clay Mask was an experience for me, since I have never used a clay face mask before. Getting it on was a little tricky since it was a thiccc paste, I had to dive into the pot many times to coat my face. The 15 minute wait wasn’t bad, but taking off said mask was tougher than I thought. Still, a fun experience overall and I can’t wait for next time :) And finally, alya skin. - Australian Native Berries Moisturiser soaks up super well, does leave your face a little bit oily (not enough to feel gross and slick, but enough to remind yourself “oh yeah, I moisturised~”). After all of the cleansing, scrubbing and masking, this allowed my face to relax, rehydrate and recover. After all is said and done, from red and dry to plump and bright, I am pleasantly surprised at how much my skin improved in an hour! Overall, is it worth $150 (AUS) for the Complete Skincare Bundle? Unless you do already spend that amount on your regular skincare and knowing these products will work for you, I’d suggest waiting for the Complete Skincare Bundle to go on sale so you can get a bit of everything to try out (I bought mine for 73 dollars, we love a good sale 🥰) but overall, I’d say it’s worth it! I don’t know for sure if I would buy again as of right now, I am hoping on doing another review after a month of use to see if it is right for me. Thank you for reading! Have a lovely day, drink plenty of water and tell someone you love them 💖 (Bonus photo at the end because why not 🤪)

SKIN PROGRESS *ignore the ugly lol*
SKIN PROGRESS *ignore the ugly lol*
so this is my most recent curology update photo. i think my skin is doing really well! i still 100% recommend curology. like my face has never looked better. first off, my provider actually updated my formula from 2% azelaic acid to 8%. i definitely felt this, the formula has more of a burning sensation now, which i feel like means it’s working idk. I’ve been using the Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque like 2-3 times a week and it is AMAZING. i actually saw progress the SECOND time I used it. it got rid of most of the sebaceous filaments (blackhead looking things) on my nose and chin!!! this product is a must! i LOVE my new VANICREAM - Free & Clear Liquid Cleanser it literally is so soft and soapy. you can tell it’s for sensitive skin. i feel like there’s absolutely no bad ingredients in it. it’s probably THE best cleanser I’ve ever used fr. anyways my skin is clearing up nicely besides a few pimples here and there. ive been drinking more water as well which is helping. will keep y’all posted!
