One Week Using Differin

avatar
floatdowns
Experience: I started using Differin about a week ago to deal with my maskne and dark spots. Ever since I started wearing masks more frequently, my skin has essentially freaked out. It’s super sensitive and dry, especially around my mouth, but I get cystic-like acne along the area where my mask touches my face. I decided that I was going to try Differin as my last resort before going to the dermatologist (cause I’m still nervous about going to doctor’s offices, unless absolutely necessary because of covid). The instructions recommend daily use; however, I began my first week by using it every other day since I’ve had negative experiences/reactions with other active ingredients before. Since then, I’ve begun using it every night. I use this in the evening after cleansing and applying moisturizer and Aquaphor’s healing ointment.
Pros: I definitely already see a visible improvement in my skin, especially with the hyperpigmentation that I’ve dealt with. I do use other products that help with brightening, but I’ve been using those products for quite a while and haven’t seen such a drastic improvement until now.
Cons: I experienced a few small breakouts around my chin, but they went away pretty quickly. I have yet to experience any significant purging/dryness, but I also didn’t jump immediately to daily use.
Other Products I Use + Frequency:
The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA(every other day, alternate between this and the next product/AM)
The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%(every other day, alternate between this and the previous product/AM)
Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant(everyday, use as a lip balm and to protect sensitive areas of my skin when applying Differin)

dealing with 🦠 angular cheilitis 🦠
Ever had those really painful cracks in the corner of your mouth? And it’s so hard to eat and open your mouth? And your lip corners get really red and flaky? Chances are you have angular cheilitis. What is angular cheilitis? Angular cheilitis is a condition that is usually caused by bacteria or fungus (gross, I know) that collects in the corners of your mouth when your saliva collects and dries. This leads to cracks, inflammation, scaling, redness, and flakiness. It can sometimes get ugly. You are more likely to get angular cheilitis if you: Wear braces, dentures, or retainers Lick your lips a lot (use lip balm instead!) Have a lot of saliva Sleep with your mouth open or drool in your sleep Smoke Take or use certain medications that can cause imbalances in fungus and bacteria in your body So how do you treat it? It really depends on what type of angular cheilitis you have. If it’s fungal, you should get an anti-fungal treatment. If it’s bacterial, try a topical antibiotic (you should check with your dermatologist or doctor to see if they can help you figure out what kind). You can also use some more natural remedies like tea tree oil, coconut oil, or olive oil. They all have anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties! If you’re feeling particularly dry, use coconut or olive oil to help moisturize. You can also put a petroleum jelly or something like aquaphor on your lips and corners to seal out moisture. And STOP LICKING YOUR LIPS! How do you prevent it? Make sure that you are keeping proper dental hygiene and make sure that your dental ware are properly fitted. Use a lip balm to keep your lips hydrated and moisturizer so that you reduce dryness and prevent yourself from licking your lips. I know having this is super annoying and it doesn’t look good, but it happens, so knowing how to prevent and treat it will help you when it suddenly appears on your mouth! how I survived the Tretinoin uglies
Before we begin, let’s talk a little bit about what Tretinoin is. Tretinoin is a prescription-strength retinoic acid, a synthetic vitamin A derivative. Tretinoin is a medication used to treat acne, sun-damaged skin, and as it increases cell turnover, leaving you with smoother-looking skin. Tretinoin is not an easy fix, however. You may notice the Tretinoin starting to work within 2 to 3 weeks, but it can take 6-8 weeks or more the experience the full benefits. Within the first few weeks, you may notice your skin purging, as the Tetinoin will bring all the gunk in your face up to the surface at once. The Tretinoin will dry out your face, and if you have naturally oily skin, this may make your face more oily as it overcompensates for the dryness of your skin. Though you may feel discouraged during this process, it’s important that you continue with your treatment so you can reap the full benefits. Anything good takes time, so be patient! As for how to survive this extreme dryness and the “uglies,” it’s important that you keep your skincare routine simple, hydrating, and moisturizing. Hydration and moisturizing are key to minimizing the peeling, the flaking, and the burning. So here are some of the products I used to help combat the Tretinoin uglies (don’t apply in this order, apply from thinnest to thickest): CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion dear, klairs - Fundamental Watery Oil Drop I didn’t get this until recently, but I think it would help as well: LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Mask

Transitioning Into My Winter Skin Care! ❄
So technically, I never even transitioned into my "Fall skincare" this year. Where I live, the fall months don't usually get that cold. For the most part, i've been using the same products I was using in the Summer. And that was a mistake! For the past few weeks it's been really dry outside, and eventually resulted in a disruption of my moisture barrier. My cheeks, and especially the area around my eyes felt super tight, and even got cracked and flakey. Lets Talk Cleansers! I LOVE the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser . It will always be a holy grail for me, 365 days a year. This restores and hydrates my skin, and my go-to morning cleanse. I believe in cleansing twice a day, but the morning cleanse should be with a simple, gentle cleanser. Cleansing can be really harsh for the skin, and using a foaming or treatment cleanser twice a day can stir up trouble! Another good one is the PAULA'S CHOICE - Defense Hydrating Gel-to-Cream Cleanser . This one works better as a second cleanse, to help remove makeup. It foams up, and claims to remove makeup. In my opinion, it doesn't work that well without an oil cleanse or micellar water beforehand. This cleanser isn't AS hydrating but still really good and makes my skin soft. Unlike CeraVe, this one this one has a triple-superfood complex, and antioxidants! Lately, I've been oil cleansing, then going in with the Paulas Choice cleanser, & then the CeraVe one, as my night time routine. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize! Even if you have oily skin, moisturize! My go-to moisturizers are the CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion as well as the VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream . Both of these products I LOVE. They are perfect for acne-prone skin, & at a decent price point. But now... I'm going to start incorporating a more hydrating, heavier moisturizer, like the CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream . I'm very picky about heavy moisturizers because my pores are easily clogged. CeraVe is always a reliable brand I can count on to have simple, non-irritating products that get the job done. (And DOESNT clog pores.) Another good one is the PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum . This one is technically a serum but works like a moistuizer. It's very light but super hydrating & moisturizing! It has robust levels of Omega 3, 6 and 9 for calm, stronger & healthier skin. It also has ceramides, Hyaluronic Acid & Shea Butter. Surprisingly, the Shea butter in this does not clog my pores. Hyaluronic Acid! I don't own a sole Hyaluronic Acid serum, but I use the The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA . This is really good at hydrating and plumping my skin. And it calms & depuffs any inflammation I may have. I like that it's paired with Alpha Arbutin so this serum also fades dark spots & brightens my skin. Plus, these two ingredients can be paried with almost any other active, so it's easy to include this serum in a any routine.

🤦🏻‍♀️Hyperpigmentation Around The Mouth🙅🏻‍♀️
You have got great skin. But the one thing that stops you from stepping out naturally without any makeup is the dark skin around your mouth. Is this true? You have tried everything from DIYs to skin lightening creams. But the pigmentation around your mouth has remained your stubborn friend, right Why Is The Skin Around My Mouth Dark? 1. Hyperpigmentation 2. Weather Conditions Sun exposure and darkening of the skin. In very cold weather, if you lick your lips and the area around it too often, it can discolour the skin and make it look darker How Do You Get Rid Of Hyperpigmentation Around The Mouth? 1. Exfoliate If you exfoliate the area around your mouth regularly with a gentle exfoliator, it can remove dead cells and help to lighten the skin. Opt for a chemical exfoliant as it will not scrape the skin which in turn may worsen the condition. 2. OTC Skin-Brightening Creams Skin brightening creams can be effective in reducing the dark area around the mouth. Look for ingredients such as glabridin (a licorice extract), kojic acid, vitamin C, grape seed extract, azelaic acid , arbutin, curcumin or niacinamide, These block the production of tyrosinase which is needed by the skin to make melanin. 3. Acid Peels Your dermatologist may use a salicylic acid or glycolic acid peel to treat the dark skin around your mouth. However, these peels do not offer a permanent solution and the pigmentation can return. These peels penetrate deep into the skin to repair the damaged cells. Post treatment precautions like staying out of the sun, applying sunscreen and protecting the skin can make the effect of the peels last longer 6. Natural Remedies You can also use natural remedies to treat the dark skin around your mouth. Most of these natural ingredients can be found in your kitchen. Unless you have an allergy to any of these, you can try using them to get rid of the pigmented skin. Exfoliate with Papaya Papaya has fruit acids known as alpha-hydroxy acids, which is a chemical exfoliantAHAs are used for dry skin and to anti-age, and works to improve skin by removing the top layers of the skin through weakening the lipids that bond them together, thus removing dull and dead skin cells and revealing healthy skin cells. Soothe Skin and Reduce Spots with Almond Oil The presence of Vitamin E and niacin help with hyperpigmentation and improving skin tone,” she says. Because sweet almond oil is non-comedogenic (meaning it won’t clog your pores) you can add it to your nightly routine as a makeup remover or moisturizer to help protect the skin barrier. Reverse Photo Damage with Tomatoes Tomatoes are naturally rich in lycopene, which has multiple health benefits, including sun protection Brighten with Yogurt breaks down dead skin cells thanks to lactic acid, which is found naturally in dairy products. Using a yogurt with cow’s milk could be effective in calming the skin, since it has lactic acid. Lactic acid is an AHA, which improves discoloration and age spots

Layering Guide to Acne Fighting
Heyyyyy y’all! So since I’ve been in Korea and wore a mask for 24 hours straight my chin/jaw is trying to do its own thing. Luckily your girl packed enough skincare to last her 6 mo here! My jet lag has been kicking my ass being 13 hours ahead with a 6mo old, but my skin is so important with all my progress made. When “layering” products in my opinion there is no right amount. Yet, there is a correct order. (Remember water to oil) Nights Cleanse: My favorite acne cleanser right now is the CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser While it can be drying (why it’s has 4 stars) making sure to add a cleansing oil before and hydrating serum after is key! Hydrate Y’all know I’m a toner lover. So I am using the peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner I recently reviewed how much I love this toner and how hydrating it is. Followed with The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Remember to apply this damp skin. This is 🔑. Treat The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% This is a godsend for my pores. My oily t-zone has been helped a lot by this product. DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel I replaced this item because I prefer a retinoid over BHA for my acne type. It’s mostly hormonal but since suffering from low grade maskne it’s helped . Moisturize fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer This is my HG night moisturizer. It’s amazing. My skin feels so soft and smells so good afterwards! ELEMIS - Daily Defence Shield SPF30 Y’all know I love my Tula but this is hardcore. I wanted something that would be effective under a mask and still moisturize. When I use Tula I get a glow which I would prefer to use in a setting my glow would be “seen”. I’m making a list of k-beauty items I want to get once in our quarantine and other things! I also want input for makeup tutorials 👇🏾👇🏾

It really works!!!!! Differin update
I have been using the whole differin collection for some months now and I’m definitely happy with the results. I hardly get any acne anymore . I stuck to a routine and saw results almost immediately! I’m confident my acne won’t be returning, now I’m just working on my dark spots and hyperpigmentation.

Winter Routine for DRY Skin
My cheeks have been SO dry lately. It’s been a struggle to keep my sensitive combo skin hydrated with the change in weather. I’ve thus made a couple swaps from my summer routine to keep my skin moisturized and not flakey. 🌬I swapped my trusty jojoba oil in the morning for a light application of Dr. Jart+ - Ceramidin Cream (I use about half the amount I use at night- just enough to get an even layer) 🌬I went back the old CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser from their new CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser . Although I like the new version better, I just need every scrap of hydration I can get right now. 🌬Lastly, I recently started applying a thin layer of Aquaphor - Aquaphor Healing Ointment over my cheeks at night (post on this coming soon!) In short, my routine is now: 🌤 rinse, hydrating toner, moisturizer, spf 🌙 double cleanse, moisturizer*, ointment as needed *I swap my Ceramidin for MAELOVE - Night Renewer 2x / week

HOW TO GET YOUR MAN ON A SKIN CARE ROUTINE!💞
Me being the skin care junkie that I am, my boyfriend is forced to listen to me rant about products, sales, ingredients, & my good (and bad) skin days. Eventually, I dragged him into liking it to! (kind of). I've peaked his interest...and now he understands the concept & importance of skin health. Eventually he started a routine, & now enjoys it! He has resilient, combo skin with an occasional blemish, but overall his skin is pretty good! He just needs the basics, no crazy treatments or harsh products. Just a cleanser, SPF, and moisturizer. He's been using the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser , the CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion and the CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 The cleanser isn't abrasive & stripping like his previous Neutrogena Deep Scrub! 😳 Also, the Niacinamide & Hyaluronic Acid in these reduced his pores, redness, & smoothed his skin. And now he's using SPF too!! 😆 These are fast absorbing, light-weight, quality products perfect for his skin! 💯 I promise, they're ways to get your man to start a skin care routine too, without forcing him to watch Hyram... Don't over-complicate it! 🗯 Simple is best. You don't want to overwhelm him, or make it seem long & time-consuming. Don't choose products with girly packaging! 💟 If he's into it, then go for it! But most of the time those girly, shiny products with cute names don't sound appealing to them. Especially just getting into it. He needs to realize it's about skin health!🏥 Let him know its just a way of taking care of yourself. And that makeup and skincare are different things! Because my boyfriend would mix them up all the time. I honestly don't think he knew the difference...which made him more hesitant. Do it together!👥 If you guys live together, start dedicating time in the bathroom before you go to bed to just unwind. Have him try your products, or do a skin care routine together! Make it enjoyable and a memorable experience, so it sets a positive impression. Consistently show him products and explain what they do! 🧴🧼 What peaked my boyfriends interest was me talking to him about products all the time, & what they fix! I would catch him complaining about his skin over a pimple or redness, and I would tell him about an ingredient or product that would help that issue. It intrigued him! Consider fragrance free, light-weight products that fit his skin type! ✅ The biggest complaint I hear from guys and skin care is that it feels greasy, heavy, or sticky. The purfumey smell is a big one too. So avoid those things. And make sure to talk to him about his skin type & properly match what products would be best for him! Make sure he STAYS on the routine. Remind him about it, & don't forget to compliment his skin! 💞 I still try to remind my boyfriend, but at this point he always remembers. Also, COMPLIMENT his skin!! If he's starting a routine, he wants to know you see results. He wants to look good in your eyes!

🎪DRUNK ELEPHANT - The Trunk 4.0 This kit comes fully stocked with everything you need for a truly complete skincare routine & a swift getaway! 🛩☁️ I wouldn’t travel right now, even if you paid me. Covid numbers aren’t going down & I take these facts very seriously. Haven’t had contact with almost anyone since March, because I do have a neurological disease that could put me at risk. I can’t tell anyone what to do... but do I urge you to consciously protect strangers while protecting yourself & your loved ones. My condition is one often referred to as an “Invisible Illness”. Many people have health conditions that others don’t outrightly see. Most people think I’m completely able-bodied unless I’m seen limping or having convulsions. I’ve only had this condition since 2014, so it’s been an adjustment & learning experience for my own prejudgements as well. 🧳My bf really likes the Monos locking suitcase & encouraged me to purchase this while the big Sephora sale was going on. He has to travel for his essential-work sometimes & this is a perfect carry-on size! It’s just as wide & deep as the ‘Monos Carry-On’ ($293) & only 4” shorter. specs: 18” high x 14” wide x 9” deep. Monos describes their Carry-On as: Designed to comply with the size restrictions of as many airlines as possible, & fits in the overhead bin of nearly any flight. So I think this slightly shorter rolling suitcase would 99% likely be accepted as a carry-on. 💚Really impressed with the quality! Its lightweight but well structured, great features/compartments + an antibacterial laundry bag. I’m totally new to Drunk Elephant, but I wanted to try their L-Ascorbic Acid serum, Glycolic Acid serum & the Babyfacial🍼🐘 I also want to start using a gentle retinol. Battle of The Bougie Balms!!
I’ve been in the skincare world for five months now, and part of my journey has been stepping up my cleansing game. I wanted to invest in a good cleansing balm, and I know these are the top two balms on Sephora. I bought the travel size versions on Sephora. FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm Full size price: $34 for 3.4 oz Fragrance: A lemon-lime sorbet with a hint of herbal that becomes more noticeable after continued use. Texture: A sorbet that emulsifies (turns to oil) beautifully! A nice oil that’s not too thick on the skin. Face makeup removing ability: Amazing! Seeing that this balm emulsifies so well, it’s ability to take off layers of makeup in a single cleanse is amazing. In my two months of using it, I only had my second cleanse pickup leftover traces of face makeup once. Eye makeup removing ability: Amazing! My Marc Jacobs Eyeliner is incredibly stubborn to where even certain micellar waters couldn’t take it off. This takes it off with one rub. Overall: I once had a strict, gluten-free mom approach about fragrance in skincare so at first I was nervous about using this. I experienced NO irritation at all, and it’s important to note that some of the fragrance oils are listed fairly low on the ingredient list. This balm is absolutely amazing at removing makeup, and the scent just adds a lovely experience to it. Thanks to this balm, I’m ok with fragrance being in a first cleanse only. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser Full size price: $34 for 3.8 oz Fragrance: Fragrance-free/no added fragrance oils, but has a natural nutty/canola oil-like scent due to the Marula oil it’s formulated with. Texture: A waxy butter that emulsifies into a mega thick oil that honestly feels like canola oil on the skin. Face makeup removing ability: Since the oil is just so thick and leaves a residue, it takes about maybe 3/4 of my makeup off. I often have to use my second cleanse to take the remainder off. Eye makeup removing ability: Awful! I really have to rub my eyes to take this off. Exfoliation factor: DE compensates for the lack of fragrance in the cleansing balm experience by adding an optional physical exfoliator made of bamboo and charcoal powder (swipe to see). They market this exfoliation as gentle, when in reality it’s very harsh (as is the case with most physical exfoliators). Highly recommend skipping this step! Overall: Love DE’s Marula oil in my moisturizer and as a facial oil but not to wash my face with! This balm is just too waxy and too thick, making it incredibly difficult to remove makeup. And the winner is.. FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm ! However, I do think it’s very pricey to make as my main first cleanse. I’ll try THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balmnext.

Those 4 products alone would have been $324! With my Rouge discount: $360! Regular price is $450- You get 10 full size products, 3 minis +5 sample packets. 18 different things to try! ➖Which would you like me to review first?➖ 🐘I want to trial everything before I review! Sunscreen: And The Winner Is....
Drunk Elephant’s Umbra Sheer vs La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios I’m still looking for the perfect face sunscreen. These two have been part of the journey and they each have pros and cons. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios Melt-in Milk Body & Face Sunscreen Lotion SPF 100 Anthelios 100 SPF: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 PROS: * 100 SPF * Water resistant (80 minutes) * Seems like it can go under makeup well * Easy to use bottle CONS: * La Roche-Posay tests on animals * When I sweat a lot, I worry some of it might be coming off because I can definitely taste it. 😐 DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense SPF 30: ⭐️⭐️.5 / 5 PROS: * Cruelty-free company * Meets the minimum needed 30 SPF CONS: * Not water-resistant * I felt like it didn’t rub in as well as I’d like it to * Is just okay Obviously La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios wins here due to its high SPF and because it’s water-resistant (that includes sweat!). That said, I probably won’t purchase again because the company tests on animals. If you have a favorite facial sunscreen, let me know! Drunk Elephant has a lot of good products but I’m just not feeling their sunscreen. If a sunscreen isn’t water-resistant, I’m not even going to entertain the idea. We all sweat. I need staying power. I also just wasn’t a fan of the feel of it. It seemed a little sticky, like it didn’t absorb as well as I would have liked.

Sensitive Acne Prone Routine
Sensitive Acne Prone Routine
Hi there! I have superrrrr sensitive skin that breaks out to everything so I’m here to help out anyone else’s face that hates them too. I have three different night routines that I do in order to not pile on a bunch of products in one day. Am 🦐 splash face with water 🦐 CeraVe - Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 For Normal To Oily Skin 🦐 Neutrogena - On-the-Spot Acne Treatment I don’t use a cleanser in the morning, with my sensitive skin, washing it twice makes it too overly irritated. Instead, I wash it with water and follow with a gentle skin moisturizer/SPF, and spot treatment as needed. Pm A - Acne-fighting 🦖 CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser 🦖 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 🦖 DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel 🦖 CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin The SA cleanser is very gentle and effective for diminishing breakouts, and doesn’t strip the skin of its natural barrier. This is super important if you are using treatments, as too many can be damaging. I follow up with a water-based serum (niacinamide) that targets oil production, acne, hyperpigmentation, and dark spots. Then finish with an acne treatment and moisturizer. Pm B - Calm routine 🪐 BURT’S BEES - Face Cleanser for Sensitive Skin 🪐 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 🪐DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel 🪐 CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin I have a “calm” routine to take a break from other treatments I do during the week. My skin gets really irritated if it’s bombarded with a ton of products so I use this night as a breather for my skin. Typically that means the differin gel as well as niacinamide and moisturizer. Pm C - Brightening routine 🍌 pūrlisse - Watermelon + Charcoal Purifying Cleanser 🍌 The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution 🍌 LUÉ by Jean Seo - BALANCE 🍌DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel 🍌 CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This one is my favorite! The watermelon cleanser is my favorite thing I’ve put on my face. It’s gentle, brightens, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dull. It makes my skin glowy and supple and I’m close to dying for it. Glycolic acid is a chemical exfoliant that brightens, smooths skin texture, and uneven tone, as well as working as an acne fighter!! It’s greta if your skin can tolerate it. If not, I’d go with The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA. Next, I like to put in a calming serum for hydration and letting my skin calm the f*** down from the exfoliant. Then typical moisturizer and differin gel. I hope this helped for those of you that are looking to treat your face without pissing it off! Good luck to all you SSPs!

 On-the-Spot Acne Treatment

Healing acne and leftover scarring
Healing acne and leftover scarring
In high school, I never had problematic skin. It wasn’t until I became an adult that acne presented itself and it was everywhere. My forehead, chin, cheeks, neck, etc. I felt really ugly and would put makeup on to hide everything. I never left the house unless I had a full face. As silly as it sounds, it does put a toll on your mental health and self worth. After years of trying these products that promised me the world, I decided that I was going to go back to the basics and I started using 3 products. Yes, just 3 products. I used Cerave hydrating facial cleanser, zapzyt acne treatment gel and cerave daily moisturizing lotion. I really started to notice a huge difference with my acne cleaning up. From there, I slowly added active ingredients like the ordinary’s niacinamide and zinc as well as Sunday Riley’s Luna to help with my scarring as well as supergoop’s sunscreen. My skin is not perfect, but it has come a long way.

Thoughts on Morning Skincare Routine?
Thoughts on Morning Skincare Routine?
Hey everyone! I’m so impressed with the Cherie community and how much I’ve learned from others on this site already that I thought I would share my morning skincare routine! For context: I am a 24 year old who in the past year has struggled with moderate adult acne (only along the chin/jawline). In the past few months I have become very passionate about skincare and finding a skincare routine that works for me! Please leave any comments below if you have suggestions for me to add/replace in my routine! I am still somewhat new to the skincare community so any and all suggestions and comments are welcome!!☺️ First I cleanse with CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser while I am in the shower and I leave this cleanser on for about 2 minutes before washing it off. I love benzoyl peroxide because I found it is one of the only ingredients to be effective in fighting acne (salicylic acid didn’t do the trick😭). Second I follow with The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution for my daily exfoliation. I know it’s controversial to use glycolic acid in the morning but I’ve had a lot of people tell me it’s okay to do as long as you are following it up with a good moisturizer and sunscreen! I have some acne scarring (just redness) along my chin and jawline and I have found overtime this product has worked wonders to diminish those scars! Third I use 1% clindamycin which was prescribed by the doctor for my acne and it has been absolutely amazing combined with the benzoyl peroxide! Fourth I apply NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% I love this formulation and I use it mainly to help with the acne scarring that has occurred. Although it can be a little sticky, it gives your face a really nice glow that I just love. Fifth I apply NATURIUM - Vitamin C Super Serum Plus this product contains a cocktail of fabulous ingredients, and I find that the combination of this with the Niacinimide has just strengthened my skin. Sixth I apply one of my favorite products ever CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin This product has been a life savior as it is non-comedogenic, fragrance free, and so hydrating! Truly an incredible product! Finally I apply elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 I absolutely love this sunscreen because it’s formulated by dermatologists specifically for people with sensitive or acne proned skin. I absolutely love that it comes in a tinted version so it doesn’t leave a white cast, and it’s a great base for makeup! My one complaint is that it is a bit expensive for a small bottle. However, if you’re willing to pay the money it’s definitely worth it! That’s my routine! Please comment and let me know what you think/suggestions you have:)

Review my routine (dry/sensitive skin)
Review my routine (dry/sensitive skin)
Morning cleanser: I normally wash my face with warm water in the morning because my skin is so dry. But LA has been getting pretty hot lately so I started using Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser in the morning. It smells pretty nice and gets the job done. It's very gentle as well. mousturizer: I wrote about CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin a while back and it's still one of my favorites! The packaging is not ideal but I love its whipped cream texture. It's very light but also moisturizing. I've been in love with this cream! 🥰 sunscreen: I recently discovered elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 I prefer physical sunscreen because it's less stimulating and safer for sensitive skin. This sunscreen meets all of my requirements- it's light, moisturizing, safe for sensitive skin, and doesn't give this icky oily feel. Night cleanser: I have been a big fan of boscia - Purifying Cleansing Gel it's amino acid-based and smells AMAZING! I normally avoid fragrance in skincare products but since face wash only stays on your skin for a few seconds it should be fine :) I've been using this cleanser for years. 😍 toner: I got COSRX - BHA Blackhead Power Liquid as a sample after I ran out of my last bottle of PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I'd like to apply it in my t-zone to minimize pores. I'm not very familiar with COSRX. But the fact that their label doesn't explicitly say BHA% kind of bothers me. serum: right now I'm rotating between 3 products 1. The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' 2. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 3. SkinMedica - LYTERA 2.0 Pigment Correcting Serum(the product I'm using has been discontinued and this is the upgraded version) Out of the three, my favorite is skinmedica. I know it's pricey, but after several weeks my dark spots actually started fading and no other beauty products have done that for me. If you know a good dupe for this, please let me know! I'm also looking for a good summer face mask - what do you recommend?

Another Routine Update 🤔
Another Routine Update 🤔
It’s been a few weeks since starting to crack down on my routine, and unfortunately I think the amount of products I was using overwhelmed my skin again and clogged it up. I have some healing pimples on my forehead and a few on my chin, but the bulk of the spots I have are little scars. Moisturizers and serums are always a hassle for me because it seems like every other products causes congestion. I want to love The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%so badly but I can’t exactly tell if it does much for me. I stopped using The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5as well as the nightly PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliatorbecause they seemed to be pushing my skin over the edge. As of now I’m testing out POND'S - Facial Moisturizers Dry Skin Cream at night to see if it breaks me out or not... I used it in the past and really liked it and so far it’s going well. Just need to use this sparingly and focus only on the areas that need hydration (my cheeks rarely break out and are super dry). In the morning I opt for the stratia - Liquid Goldmoisturizer or Eucerin - Q10 Anti-Wrinkle Sensitive Skin Lotion, SPF 15 Sunscreen So what really works? The double cleansing method of The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser and VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser has not given me any new breakouts and leaves my skin so much less irritated than other cleansers. I only double cleanse at night and then in the mornings I will rinse with water and only wash with Vanicream if I am feeling extra sweaty/greasy. After I cleanse at night I slap on some of the niacinamide serum, then the PONDs, and top off my chin and forehead with DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel. I am just starting out with Differin so I will be sure to update more! It seems that simpler is better for me.

How I cleared my Acne - My AM and PM routine
How I cleared my Acne - My AM and PM routine
Swipe left !! 🔙 So, my Hormonal acne is almost cleared up and I'm so excited to share with you how I cleared my acne as well as what products worked amazing for that! As shown in pictures six months back I had painful, bleeding cystic acne that flared up because of PCOS (Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome). I managed to leave them at bay now, leaving me focused on just the acne scars which are also faded a lot! I believe whoever has hormonal acne, or breakouts in general this routine will for you! So here's my morning and nighttime routine for past six months ( some products are added recently but they're helping me in maintaining my skin Acne-free) AM - @fresh Soy cleanserfresh - Soy Makeup Removing Face Wash @innisfree Panthenol 10 tonerinnisfree - Truecare Panthenol 10 Moisture Skin @naturium Hyaluronic acid essence 2% NATURIUM - Hyaluronic Acid Essence 2% @Tula Pro-Glycolic PH resurfacing tonerTULA SKINCARE - Pro-Glycolic 10% Resurfacing Toner Alternate day (replacing AHA/ @tula toner) - @naturium Vitamin C Super serum plusNATURIUM - Vitamin C Super Serum Plus @theordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% @naturium Niacinamide 12% + Zinc 2% NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% @sundayriley C.E.O Vitamin C rich hydration cream SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Azaleic acid is such a great all rounder and no brainer when it comes to treating Acne and lightening/fading dark spots. Quick overlook of it's benefits- - Anti-microbial (hence kills acne causing bacteria) - Anti-inflammatory (reduces redness and look of blemishes) -Gently exfoliates skin (Unlike potent AHA but gives similar exfoliation) - Reduces skin texture and textural irregularities - Lightens and brightens dark spots, PIH, melasma by slowing down melanin production - Works well with almost all actives including AHA/BHA, Vitamin C, Retinols - Isn't photosensitive meaning you can use it in the morning as well as at night. Which product/ingredient you like the most? ⭐
