Post Retinol Hydration

fkn_winemixer
I just recently start Tretinoin once per week and a day or so later my entire face is peeling. Standard as my skin needs to get used to the higher concentration, but not attractive. Hydration is key. I keep it simple when I’m peeling: Hydrating Eye Cream - belif - Moisturizing Eye Bomb
- one of my favorites! This is going to keep your eye areas hydrated all day! It doesn’t do much for dark circles, but if you’re looking for a solution to dry under eye skin, try this one out. Remember under eye skin, eyelids, brow bone skin, and corners of eyes also need TLC. Hylaronic Acid - HADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion
- this lasts forever and contains five different molecular weights of HA. Remember with HA though, if there is no moisturizer in the air for it to grab moisture from its will take from other places, like your skin. I live in an area that is not typically humid, so I like to spray a layer of Avène - Thermal Spring Water Spray
on my bare skin and then apply the HA. Moisturizer - JORDAN SAMUEL skin - The Performance Cream
- I typically use this in the winter time as a day time moisturizer or a night moisturizer in the summer since it’s heavy for my comb/oily skin in the summer, but since I’m in need of intense moisture, I’ll make an exception. This product contains squalene, glycerin which are two products that I always look for when I look for moisture. I have the JORDAN SAMUEL skin - The Matinee Gel Cleanser
which I love so I am really excited to start trying more of this companies products.

How to Rescue Your Skin From Over Exfoliation
So you’ve over exfoliated or you may have read my post about the telltale signs of over exfoliating. If you’re concerned - first let me empathize with you. You can cry for now but not for too long because there are ways to restore your skin barrier and get it all back together in due time. 🙌 The photo you see now was taken today 9/12/20 completely unfiltered. The first step is drop all exfoliants and that means scrubs and actives (AHA+BHA). The second is waiting. Waiting sucks though. The third is use a low pH cleanser since alkali ones are drying to the skin. The mistake I made was that I was using my BHA dailyPAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA (Salicylic Acid) Liquid Exfoliator and I was applying products on top of it without letting the BHA dry completely. I remember I felt a stinging sensation but thought that was normal because I thought it was the BHA working. Couple of weeks passed and one day I woke up and my face was super dehydrated and felt coarse and the redness and burns appeared. I was horrified. When you overexfoliate you need to look for products with ingredients with: cholesterol squalane plant oils niacinamide And don’t forget the sunscreen. Even when I’m staying at home I still slap it on! Throughout the day you have to reapply especially if you’re going out. It took me about a month to get my skin back. I stopped the exfoliants and I spoke with my Curology provider and she recommended I use THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Toner which actually helped me with my burns and redness (refer to the pics.) Thank you lawd. She told me to alternate my curology formula (apply MWF) only until I’m back to normal but I just stopped it completely since tretinoin, a retinoid causes thinning of my skin. 📝 BTW DO NOT USE THAYER’S FOREVER. I wrote a post about that if you’re curious as to why. She also suggested using a gel for moisturizer. Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer which was pretty meh 😑 I hated the smell but was excited when I read the reviews on it. Promised hydration that I didn’t really see? So i went back to my HADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion 🙌 Here’s other products I used to restore my skin barrier: CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser this cleanser contains ceramides. The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane SQUALANE SQUAAAAA- Now that I’ve restored my skin barrier I’m now focusing on my other target skin concerns! Like that pimple on my forehead 😹 I have since reintroduced the BHA and AHA and worked out a routine suitable to my skin. I am going to have to give a lot of credit to The History of Whoo products for giving me that glow. Hope that helps but remember everyone’s skin is different and your mileage will always vary. Be patient and love your skin!! 😻

MYTHS ABOUT HYALURONIC ACID
Today I’m going to talk about hyaluronic acid. It’s one of my favorite skincare ingredients ever and I hate seeing so many myths about it! Today I’m going to bust two major myths I keep seeing about hyaluronic acid. ✖️MYTH ONE:✖️ You can ONLY apply this to damp skin for it to work. 💧I see a lot of people posting about the idea that you can only apply hyaluronic acid to damp skin so it can ‘grab’ the water on the skin and bring it to the deeper layers for hydration. 💧The thing is, this isn’t true. When you look at your hyaluronic acid product formula, the first ingredient 100% of the time is going to be some form of water. Whether that’s mineral water, infused water, glacier water, whatever—it’s still water, which the hyaluronic acid can grab and take into the skin with it. If you prefer to apply your HA this way, that’s fine—just be aware that it’s not a hard and fast rule. HA works just as well when applied to just-dried skin as it does on damp skin. ✖️MYTH TWO:✖️ Hyaluronic Acid can actually dehydrate the skin 💧People think that hyaluronic acid can secretly dehydrate your skin if you live in a dry environment. What’s the truth? Well, it’s true that HA relies a lot on grabbing water from the air in a humid environment. 💧However, studies have shown that it also takes moisture from the deeper layers in the skin—specifically from the moisture in our blood. So, the truth is that HA takes moisture from two sources—the environment and our bodies. However, it’s ALWAYS a good idea to ‘lock in’ HA with a thicker moisturizing product to ensure that it’s keeping hydration where it should be—in your skin! 💧Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Review 💧HADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion This is the thicker, richer, more hydrating version of my absolute favorite Hada Labo Gokujyun (the regular, runny version). have a full review of this on my blog, but I’ll put a short version here. For my oily skin, I can only use this as a hydrating serum—not a runny lotion that I can use the 7 skin methods for. For oily skin, I would recommend the regular Gokujyun lotion over this. HADALABO - Rohto Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist The Premium lotion was just too rich to use for the 7 skin method, and actually clogged my pores a little bit when I tried to use it that way.

💧HYDRATING Eye Creams for Anti-Aging💧
When it comes to anti-aging, finding products is easier than you may think. Look beyond just "anti-aging" on the label, and seek out hydration instead. Lack of hydration is often a major reason behind fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes! ⬇️ Here are two of my favorites at different prices ⬇ ️ belif - Moisturizing Eye Bomb My current favorite! It is ultra hydrating and soothing, provides a great base for makeup, and includes powerful, stand out ingredients. Key Ingredients : Squalane- provides lightweight hydration, doesn't clog pores Potent Plant Extracts- calendula flower extract, for example, tightens and is anti-inflammatory Ceramides- protects skin's natural barrier by preventing water loss, protects from environmental stressors CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream This is a richer cream but more affordable! Feels great for ultra dry eyes and perfect for night time. Key Ingredients: Ceramides- as I already mentioned, this is amazing for anti-aging as it locks in the skin's moisture Hyaluronic Acid- draws in moisture from the air and holds 1000x its weight in water! Skin Soothing Oils and Aloe- calming, reduces irritation Is Hydration the answer to fine lines and wrinkles? Overall, it is an essential component to any anti-aging routine. When the skin is properly hydrated, especially the thin skin around the eyes, it appears healthier, plumper, and brighter. Without proper hydration, any anti-aging treatment won't work as effectively. Trying something moisturizing may give you the anti-aging results you have been searching for!

Review my PM routine!
Hello friends! I’m new here :) Figured some good opening posts would be sharing my AM and PM routines and asking for recommendations! My skin is notoriously dry and acne-prone. Throughout high school and my first couple years of college I struggled with acne and texture problems like little bumps and dry, flaky patches. Throughout the past year, though, I’ve put a lot of effort into finding products I love that help with these issues. I’m still developing my routines, but this is what I’ve been doing for about a month now and the results have been SO incredible! Keep scrolling for a look at my nighttime routine: 1. Cleanse - LUSH Sleepy Face | Naked Cleansing Balm ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love this cleansing balm. Not only is its little face so cute, its smell is so soothing and it is incredible at dissolving makeup. It’s essentially just... oils, so it’s also very moisturizing and doesn’t strip my skin. I usually just use this to cleanse because I don’t wear any makeup 95% of the time, but if I do have a full face on I’ll use a gel cleanser first to get as much makeup off as possible 2. Exfoliate - The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA This was one of the first products that absolutely transformed my skin. I used to be a diehard exfoliating scrub user, but the upgrade to chemical exfoliation was... life-changing 3. Moisturize - belif - The True Cream-Moisturizing Bomb I bought this moisturizer for the first time over a year ago and didn’t realize what I had until months later. Now I don’t think I’ll ever stop repurchasing! I love that the formula is thick and creamy to keep my skin extra hydrated during the night. It also is a great base to mix in The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 if I’m feeling extra dry 4. Treatments - The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane + The Ordinary - Amino Acids + B5 I alternate using these two products from The Ordinary most nights. I’m just 21, so I’m not too obsessive about the retinol and just use it whenever I remember. The amino acids are great for maintaining my moisture barrier, but can also be irritating if I use them too often or too heavily. Another product I pretty much just use whenever I think of it 5. Eyes - belif - Moisturizing Eye Bomb + The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG This is the newest addition to my routine. I was hesitant to add caffeine because my under eyes aren’t really puffy... at all... so I didn’t think I needed it. Then I learned that it can also help with pigmentation and my under eye circles are dark, to say the least. Haven’t seen results yet, but I’m willing to stick it out and see in a couple months if there’s any improvement And that’s how I keep my skin hydrated and smooth all night! Thanks for reading!

Protini Polypeptide Dupe Bc my wallet hurts
Not a drill, this is a dupe for the Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream: This post has been a long time coming and a ton of time researching. I, like many of you, received the Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream in the Sephora Birthday Gift last year. I fell in love. It was light but hydrating, it tightened, brightened, and plumped up my skin— the only downside was the price tag 🏷 $70 for a 1.69 oz. moisturizer, 🥵. No, thanks! . . . I immediately went on a hunt for a dupe that had similar ingredients, the same gel-cream texture, and of course peptides! There really aren’t many moisturizers that have this texture or a range of peptides, but that seemed to be the secret sauce that dramatically changed my skin texture for the better. After fruitless and fatiguing research (3 months worth of reading ingredients lists), I happened upon the Jordan Samuel Peformance Cream and behold— an arguably better alternative. It’s $38 for 2 oz. It has a shorter and less complex ingredients list and does not contain heavy fillers like coconut oil. Instead it uses jojoba esters, glycerin, and squalane to hydrate. I’ve included the ingredients lists of each (Performance cream with black background and Polypeptide with white background). I think you’ll find that the Jordan Samuel Cream is simpler and overall better. I also want to add that a little goes a long way with this one. I know I’ll be using it for years to come.

How to soothe allergic reaction on face!
I made the mistake (again) of using a shimmer eyeshadow from a palette that gave me this reaction last time - trust me I was beet red in the shower, and here's what I do anytime I have an allergic reaction to anything I put on my face (it's usually something I don't use often or when it's my first time using something). Step 1: breathe! Don't go in panic mode because this will make you feel worse. Trust me. Step 2: apply a generous amount of the Glossier. - Priming Moisturizer Rich Luxurious Face Cream and though it will sting - that's the allergic reaction, it will soothe the skin with the lavender, plus it feels cold which is nice. **If you don't own this, you can use aloe vera or any good face moisturizer you have. Step 3: spray the Avène - Thermal Spring Water Spray or splash water tbh if that's what you have, to literally cool your skin down. This really helps since it calms redness and cools it down. Hope no one gets any allergic reactions but in case you do here's two steps you should take if it happens, since they relieve the swelling and pain in minutes!! My face is feeling better now - about 15 minutes after it happened and it doesn't burn anymore. These two products seriously work for cooling skin down and I wanted people to know. :)

4 step night routine
This is my typical nighttime skin routine and it's so simple and easy while targeting the problem areas for my skin. This routine hydrates and smooths skin while treating any acne or enlarged pores by tightening them. Here's the steps: 1 pump of the Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser on my face when I'm in the shower and I usually wash my face with my hands or with a soft washcloth if I need to 2 pumps on a cotton round of Glossier. - Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector and I use it when I have acne everywhere. Also, when I don't have acne everywhere, I use the Clearasil - Daily Clear Vanishing Acne Treatment Cream for spot treatments A generous dime-sized amount of the Glossier. - Priming Moisturizer Rich Luxurious Face Cream for my whole face since it's so hydrating Lastly, to get rid of any redness and to finish off, I spray the Avène - Thermal Spring Water Spray until I feel I used enough ~ 5 seconds usually and I don't try to be dripping either

Who else loves Micellar Water
Who else loves Micellar Water ?  I am obsessed with this paraben free, hypo-allergenic formula from bioderma! The sebum H2O solution is purifying which really helps control the excess sebum production I get with my oily skin type. It is so hydrating and leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed. I use this every morning along side a toner to refresh my skin ready to complete my skincare routine and makeup base.

I’ve tried two Youth to the People cream till now. This one has a deep moisturizing effect for winter. My oil skin sometimes is also flaking,so I really need a hydration savior. This is the best choice for me. I don’t feel any irritation or breakouts when I apply it. Btw it has no smell. I don’t mind this. This baby is even better when paired with the Superberry Hydrate & Glow oil!

This is an extremely hydrating
This is an extremely hydrating moisturizer. It is targeted towards dryer skin. At first I assumed this would be thick but it’s very lightweight and runny. In fact it’s so runny that when I first opened the container I spilled some of it. This moisturizer sinks into the skin right away and leaves my skin feeling hydrated not greasy. It has a very faint milky scent and doesn’t pill under makeup. My moisturizer didn’t have a pump I know some variations of this moisturizer do. Mine was a screw top cap which is slightly insanitary but it’s fine. I used this product on and off for 3 months. I do like it but I think it’s too hydration for my oily to combination skin. If you have very dry skin I’d recommend this. Personally for me I can’t justify the $60 price tag for the effect it had on my skin.Kate Somerville - Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream

Moisturizer for oily skin!
Moisturizer for oily skin!
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream This is a superfood moisturizer that contains ingredients like kale, spinach, green tea and hyaluronic acid. All super good to moisturize and hydrate skin! This is such a good moisturizer for oily skin. It’s light-weight and has a whipped texture. When it’s applied to the skin it just glides on and turns into a super watery texture. So this is in no way thick or will be heavy for someone with oily skin like a lot of moisturizers out there can be. I love this one so much that I want to recommend this to everyone (maybe not dry skin folks)! I love the texture and the feel of it. Also the smell is so great and fresh. It leaves my skin plump and gives me that kick of hydration that I need without leaving me greasy. It has such a luxurious feeling I always end up applying too much... This product is super worth it in my opinion. I actually would really like if they made a bigger jar of this!!!!

Lightweight yet rich moisturizer

In the market for a new moisturizer? Give the VERSED - SKIN SOAK Rich Moisture Cream a try because you won’t regret it. This is a rich moisturizing cream that hydrates and nourishes the skin while also fighting off the signs of aging. It contains key ingredients such as glycerin, squalane, vitamin e, sodium hyaluronate, hyaluronic acid, and red algae extract. I’m currently in love with this simple yet amazing moisturizer. This has a rich emollient creamy texture that feels so lush and dreamy on the skin. It dries down to a mild dewy finish that surprisingly isn’t heavy or greasy feeling. This is a bit too rich for me during the day but it can be done if I use a very small amount. I much preferred to use this in the evening alongside my retinol serum because it has definitely helped minimize any irritations and dryness associated with retinol. I enjoyed how soft and moisturized my skin felt the following morning. It also tends to look more plump and firmer as well. There’s no added fragrance so sensitive skin types can easily utilize this without worry. This was created for dry skin types but I believe any skin type would enjoy this as it’s lightweight but so nourishing at the same time. This didn’t clog my pores or cause me to breakout so I’m all for it. I’d like to mention that although this is very emollient, it lacks occlusive properties so if you have very dry skin then you may need something thicker on top of this or you can double layer it. Overall, I loved this little gem from Versed and I will definitely repurchase this in the future. I do think it’s a bit pricy for the amount but you only need a small amount for each use. I kind of wished this came in a bigger jar now because I’m going through it quicker than I anticipated. I’ve been very impressed so far with everything that I’ve tried from Versed. Have you guys tried this or anything from versed? If so, any thoughts on them? Rating: 5/5 ⭐️ #CherieCreator #Versed
