INGREDIENT SPOTLIGHT: Decoloni-RICE

When I’m away from home I think about my mother and how growing up, she’d insist on me finishing all my steamed rice and how I would resist every time (I still do). I feel that I yearn for a connection to my roots the further I am geographically from family and the older I get. Rice 🍚 is something I crave in my diet when it becomes a commodity that’s not readily available. I can no longer take it for granted. You can say that I always want what I can’t easily have! This post isn’t so much a review of the product at hand, THE FACE SHOP - Rice Water Bright, Light Cleansing Oil
which is the first cleansing oil I ever used, but rather an exploration of WHY rice is integrated into Asian skincare. Is there a scientific basis for rice in skincare? It’s important to note that research is biased and research that’s translated into English is even more biased. We often view what’s scientifically “legitimate” from a western lens. But to clue you in, the answer is YES. Here’s what we know (and the case against buying “peptides”): 🍚 grains have historically been revered not only by Asian culture but also by the new world (Mayans, Aztecs, Incans alike)! 🍚 rice extract is naturally rich in peptides and polysaccharides so when I see skincare brands market “peptides” alone in a bottle, I am skeptical because our bodies and the food we eat are literally made of amino acids/peptides! It’s so easy to get it from different sources there is no real need to have it as a lone ingredient or separate step in our routines. Rice will do just as well. 🍚 remember that rice is plant-based! And because rice is rich in linoleic, oleic, squalene and omega-6 fatty acids, it’s an excellent moisturizer and emollient. Who needs a dropper bottle of squalene and separate oils when rice has it already? Would I recommend this cleanser? I’ve used this cleanser for years. If you don’t mind that it does have perfuming ingredients, I do think having rice oils as a harmonious skin-identical ingredient prevents me from breakouts when using this product! Remember, not all oils are suitable for every skin type so do your research! Cheers to 🍚

AnnieBergeronGreat info and review. Avon recently started selling the face shop products. I haven’t seen this one but they do have a foaming rice cleanser. I have it in my cart!

HELP I’ve tried everything!
I’ve been trying to take extra care of my skin for the past 4 months but nothing seems to be working. Morning routine: CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide Night routine: THE FACE SHOP - Rice Water Bright, Light Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - SA Lotion For Rough & Bumpy Skin pura d'or - 100% Rosehip Seed Oil Every few nights, I alternate between Paula’s Choice 2% BHA exfoliant and the CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol in place of The Ordinary Niacinamide. In addition to this routine, I wash my pillow case every week, eat relatively healthy, and don’t wear any makeup. I also use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solutiononce a week for 10 minutes. I have acne-prone combination skin. My struggles are acne scars and bumps/texture on my cheeks. I’d especially like to know how to get rid of the bumps and what’s causing them. I also recently abstained from my actives for 2 weeks in hopes of my skin clearing up but that obviously didn’t work. I’ve been using my CeraVe products for almost 2 years. My skin only started breaking out more once I incorporated more products little by little. I don’t think this is considered purging because this has been going on for 3 months. I also don’t think this is maskne because I rarely leave my house. PLS HELP! I feel like I’ve done all I can. I can’t even see a dermatologist because I don’t have insurance. #help #helpmyskin

Holy grail of Salicylic acid/LHA washes
I’ll get straight to the point: $15 and I’ve still been on the same bottle for nearly two months. When a skin guru says to use a “dime size,” yes, it’s tempting to make its waaaaaay more than that. But imo, with this wash, less is truly better. This La Roche Posay cleanser is a 6.8oz bottle. If you’re researching this specific product, odds are you have tried or want to try CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skinbut can’t find it in stock anywhere (thanks Hyram lol). Sure, Cerave has more product for around $9. But notice that there’s no percentage of salicylic acid listed on it? Products containing 0.5% or greater of SA are required to list this on their packaging (in the U.S. at least). That combined with the fact that SA is over half way down in the ingredient list, we can assume the product is greatly diluted and not as effective of a SA compared to La Roche Posay. This is not something to use as a first step if you have make up on already. I prefer to use it as a second step in a double cleanser with my THE FACE SHOP - Rice Water Bright, Light Cleansing Oil. Being gel based, it does have a light foaming effect to it. I massage into the skin for about 1 minutes then rinse. Follow with your preferred moisturizer (nothing with SA so you don’t double medicate!) then SPF (if it’s daytime). My current double cleanse routine
My current double cleanse routine
This is what my cleansing routine currently looks like. 1.Cleansing balm I'm from Fig Cleansing Balm I have using this for a few months. I'm almost out of it. It's the brand's first cleansing product.I look forward to see what other cleansing product they might come up with . it's a slightly pink colored balm with a nice sherbet texture. Easy to wash off, emulsify well and doesn't leave any residue. A pretty good 1st cleanser. Thinking of trying the banilla co. cleansing balm after I'm done with this one. 2nd cleanser rotation: a) BadSkin Ssuk Bomb Eraser I have been using this for almost 2 months now. it's the first product that I've tried of the brand. it's a mugwort based product with 2 functions. it can be used as a cleanser and as a wash off. I only use it as a cleanser. It doesn't have the most pleasant scent from all mugwort product I've tried so far. You can smell the mugwort scent but it has a more earthly scent to it. This cleanser comes in a cute packaging. It looks like a toothpaste. The texture itself is pasty . It's a pretty gentle cleanser. You get a descent amount of foam with this cleanser. The format is travel friendly. I might repurchase this eventually. I use it day /night depending on my mood lately. b) boH Anti Dust Glue Foam Cleanser (mini) This mini Cleanser came along with the watercool defense sun gel I bought at Olive Young Global back it March. I recently started using it. I enjoy using this mostly at night because it provides deep cleansing and clear out my pores and blackhead. it's pretty gentle, lightly scented and pretty affordable. it foam decently as well. It contains Ceramide NP and Cica extract. It's a nice option for acne prone skin. It doesn't dry out the skin.

I LOVE it +HIGHLY recommend it 😇
I LOVE it +HIGHLY recommend it 😇
It’s a clean wash w/o stripping my skin of its natural moisture. Even though it is a gentle cleanser it still lathered really well. It also brightened my complexion ! The Sugar Cane extract is a gentle exfoliant as well as the white willow bark (willow bark is great for acne and a deep- cleanse for pores. ) It’s also has++++++++++ Chamomile flower extract + Centella Asiatica “A High active antioxidant “ I agree ! My skin feels well nourished after every wash , I also noticed the texture of my skin is firm and more youthful . A little goes a long way this product moves 🌊 This cleanser is great for ALL skin types Especially acne prone I use this cleanser 2x a day (Morning + Night) I use my spin brush only once a day , & I only wash my face with cold water FELINE APPROVED 🐆

One of my all time favorite cleansers
One of my all time favorite cleansers
TROIAREUKE - Acsen Oil Cut Cleansing is one of my all time favorite cleansers that can act as both an oil and a water based cleanser. It was created using a micro-emulsion technology to ensure a gentle cleanse that removed all types of impurities including excess sebum. It contains key ingredients such as lichen extract for antimicrobial properties, papaya fruit water for gentle exfoliation, aloe for calming, and portulaca extract for moisture retention. This has a runny gel texture that easily glides across the skin as you massage it around to gently remove makeup, sunscreen, and everything else from your day. This does have a sweet fruity scent due to the inclusion of fragrance in the formula but it hasn’t irritated my skin or caused me to breakout. This cleanser comes from their acsen line which was created for acne and sensitive skin types. I love this all in one cleanser because of how effectively it cleanses my skin of everything without disrupting my skin’s natural moisture barrier. My skin just feels soft, fresh, and hydrated after using this every time. You can use this as a first and second step cleanser or your only cleanser in your routine since you can skip double cleansing when using this. I enjoy using this morning and evening as well. I’ve found that this also definitely helped with my acne because I noticed less breakouts whenever I use this. I’d recommend this to all skin types but I’d patch test just in case you’re sensitive to the added fragrance in this. Overall, this is a cleanser that’s in my top 5 gel cleansers and I plan to continue repurchasing it. My only gripe is with the price since it’s a little pricy for the amount you get but there’s usually a buy one get one free promo that comes along 2-3 time a year so that easily makes up for it since I stock up when it happens. Have you guys tried this yet? If so, any thoughts on it? Rating: 5/5 🌟 #CherieCreator #Troiareuke

FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser As I’ve said before I have super oily, acne prone skin that’s extremely picky about what products it’s going to like. I picked up this sample size of the Farmacy Clean Bee gel cleanser last year expecting very little, and I am never going back! This is a lovely gentle gel cleanser with a delicate botanical smell, formulated with hyalauronic acid, chamomile, and amino acids for even the most sensitive skin. This formula manages the fine line between leaving your feeling squeaky clean, but never stripping. After use my skin feels clean, plump, and calmed. My only “complaint” about this product is this price (which is my only complaint with Farmacy products), but this mini size has lasted me over six months of continuous use, which means the full size would last even longer. I would recommend this cleanser to pretty much anyone; but ESPECIALLY to those of you with sensitive or acne prone skin. A godsend! #CherieCreator #cleanser #skincare

BYROE - RICE CLEANSING SORBET First thing I noticed was a heavy lux packaging. It is so beautiful💛 Texture is very soft & easy to scrape off with spatula. I have combination acne prone skin. It’s super gentle on skin & never bothered my acne. The balm melts into oil easily with skin temperature. It removed all my face makeup including spf without any rubbing. Also it emulsifies with little water. After washing off, I didn’t feel any stripping & my face looked refreshed👍 The price is on high end but it’s totally worth it if you love a good balm type first cleanser. I have no complaint what so ever. I highly recommend it🥰💖 #CherieCreator

I’ve used the one to the right which is the face wash for years now (6?) and it last me about almost a year (each bottle). A little goes a long way. Feels light and clean after. Smells so nice! My skin has never felt so soft. When I first used it years ago after a week I remember feeling/seeing a little difference so I just never stopped buying and I’m SO glad I didn’t. I came across the mask not to long ago (bottle to the left) and LOVE it. Similar clean feeling results and I have no random break outs. A little also goes a long way! 🚨TIPS & TRICKS: •Use face wash 1-2 times a day. Sometimes I forget a day but that’s okay! I almost don’t forget most of the time just because it makes my skin feel so good. •Mask: apply on clean dry skin before shower. I don’t take if off until a few minutes into my shower. The steam helps with masks so I go this route instead of just applying and waiting around. Plus I’m a time saver so it’s easier so me that way! •I use once a week and everrrrry so often 2x a week. 💖Follow me & I’ll follow you!🥰
