A Zoom Patient Encounter ft Glossier’s Niteshine

femmefindings
HONEST FEMME FINDS: It’s the end of the academic year which means our final series of mock-patient encounters. Only one more year until we start rotating through the hospitals (kind of glad I slipped through the COVID-19 mess)! During these patient encounters, patient actors interact with students through Zoom, and we do get graded on a scale of 1-5 how professional and clean we look! After a month of barely leaving the house and putting on makeup, I figured today was my perfect chance to try out my bulk order from Glossier. The play highlighter in Niteshine has been one of the few new products that’s stood out to me. Here are some of my thoughts. Glossier. - Niteshine Highlighter Concentrate
COLOR: ultra pigmented highlighter with heavy pink/rose undertones. A little pigmented for an everyday office look but adds a perfect amount of depth over a blurred MacBook webcam during a zoom call. Can easily make it an everyday highlighter if used lightly. APPLICATION: applicator looks like a lipgloss wand. I normally just use my finger, dab the tip and apply with my hands. The wand does come in handy if I want to line my nose or lower waterline. PRICE: I bought this in a set and on sale but it normally retails for $20 a piece, again like many glossier products, a bit pricey for the amount they give you (0.34 fl Oz). I’d say still worth it for how quickly it’s made it’s way into my light makeup routine! Before this, I solely used the NYX liquid illuminate for years and years.

battle of the brow gels 🤺 // bushy brow look
I’ve been OBSESSEDDDD with brow gels ever since COVID hit since I refuse to do a full face of makeup only to sit on a few zoom meetings a day with my camera off in half of them. for a minimal makeup look, I do brow gels and lip gloss and call it a day! I’ve used a ton of brow gels in the past and none of them hold up my super straight and thin brows and make them look fuller and bushy (soap brow look). most of them deposit color onto my skin instead of actually geling down my brows, so here are a few of the brow products that DIDN’T work for me, and the two that did: COLOURPOP - Brow Boss Gel sadly didn’t do anything for me but deposit pigment on my skin. I know people rave about this one but it doesn’t actually gel my finicky brow hairs. Glossier. - Boy Brow sadly this barely deposited color on my brows and didn’t actually “gel” them into place (think: soap brows sticking up!) I don’t think my brows have enough hair or thickness for this brow gel, but if you have naturally nice brows, this might be a good one for you. ANASTASIA Beverly Hills - ANASTASIA Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel while this brow gel did provide some “gel” aspect to it and helped my brow hairs stay lifted, it was somewhat hard to work with because the brush is larger than the typical brow gel brush. COVERGIRL - Easy Breezy Volumizing Brow Gel this is one of the better brow gels I’ve tried from the drugstore AND it’s more accessible and affordable. though I felt like it did lift my brow gels and keep them in place, the pigment was lackluster. I would still recommend this one for those that have Covergirl accessible to them and would like to invest in a more affordable option. PACIfICA - Highest Def Hemp Fiber Brow Set DING DING! my brow gel winner! ✨ this brow gel is EVERYTHING I’ve ever wanted in a brow gel. it lifts my brow hairs and keeps them in place and contains micro fibers that enhance my real brow hairs and make them look fluffy and thick with absolutely no other brow product. I was absolutely stoked when I found this product and have repurchased since. this is what I thought the Glossier Boy Brow hype would be like, and is available at Ulta for a fairly affordable price (and coupons and discounts can be applied toward Pacifica!). since using this brow gel, I’ve seldom used other brow gels or brow product and would totally recommend to any other *passionate* brow gel lovers like me. overall, I would 100% recommend the Pacifica brow gel and it’s become an absolute HG, especially working from home. although it’s affordable, the Covergirl one is a great alternative if you’d like something more wallet-friendly and accessible. I wouldn’t recommend any high end brow gel or the hyped Glossier one because I think there’s better options, especially if you have stubborn brows like mine. what’s your fave brow product?? would love to know!

Glossier Haul!
First, this packaging is so cute!! I never thought I would contemplate keeping the packaging of something hahahaha. This is my first ever purchase from Glossier, so here are my thoughts! I ordered this on Black Friday and it arrived on December 16, which was about two and a half weeks total, which my fellow Canadians know isn’t awful for shipping! I had wanted to try the brow flick for soooo long, but I also decided to get the balm dotcom trio as well. I got the flavours mango, birthday cake and coconut. It arrived in a box that was a great size, nothing too big or too small, it also came in the cutest bag and had some fun stickers as well. Glossier. - Brow Flick the Brow Flick I could have definitely gone a shade lighter, but as long as I tap out the lines, this looks amazing. My province is currently in a lockdown, and this makes my brows look tinted without being able to go see my brown girl. I think I will love this once I can get my roots done again! Glossier. - Balm Dotcom I tried the Balm Dotcom in the Birthday cake flavour and man, it’s so spot on! It tastes exactly like birthday cake and it’s just wonderful. I’ve found the best way to use this is on wet lips so it can lock in as much moister as possible. I’ve been using this before going to bed and have been loving it! Overall, I’m very impressed with my experience with Glossier and would purchase from them again!

Minty eyes 🌿
It was cloudy day today and I wanted to experiment with greens, I wanted to do something bold and bright. I usually never reach for greens but I have a colorful eyeshadow palette and looking at the colors males me want to use them. I ended up with a dewy minty eye look. For primer (not pictured) I used touch in sol glassy balm primer. It hydrate my skin and makes it look dewy. touch in SOL - Pretty Filter Glassy Skin Balm For foundation I used the pūrlisse youth glow vitamin C CC cream spf 50 in Fair. I got this in my Ipsy bag a couple months ago and I’ve been loving it. pūrlisse - Youth Glow Vitamin C CC Cream SPF 50 Concealer I used a cult classic, NARS radiant creamy concealer in vanilla. This is one of my favorites. It gives me a natural look. NARS - Radiant Creamy Concealer For brows I used my absolute favorite brow pencil and it’s the elf instant brow pencil. I’ve been using this for years and it’s the one I always come back to. Super affordable too! e.l.f. - Instant Lift Brow Pencil BH cosmetics take me back to Brazil palette- I love this palette. So many different colors to choose from and really pigmented. bh - Take Me Back to Brazil 35 Color Pressed Pigment Palette I used my essence eyeliner pen in young and free (pastel yellow). It’s a super cute color. I decided to add some dots to the outer edge of my green eyeshadow. essence - essence Eyeliner Pen I used milk makeup kush mascara and it’s really nice. It separates my lashes and makes them look longer too. Milk MAKEUP - KUSH High Volume Mascara I used Sephora collection gel lip liner in creme de la creme to line my lips a little bit. SEPHORA COLLECTION - Rouge Gel Lip Liner For my lips I used glossier’s vinylic lip in the shade disco. It’s like a terra cotta/orangey tint to it. It’s my first time using it and I’m already in love. It also has some shine to it so my lips won’t be dehydrated. Glossier. - Vinylic Lip High Shine Lacquer For blush I used glossier’s cloud paint in dawn, it’s a orangey sunny coral color. I used a little bit of this and it’s super pretty. I love it. Glossier. - Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color

New Year’s Eve look!
To me, NYE is all about shiny and shimmery things, so I decided to go with a subtle gold shimmery look! I am by no means an eyeshadow master, so this is my best attempt, please bear with me! I just dabbed a little eyeshadow on my finger, and dabbed it onto my eye. I used BOBBI BROWN - Eyeshadow to fill in my brows. I used #Burt’s Bees - Nourishing Eyeliner Pencil[products]#[FiveStars] in warm brown to give natural definition to my eyes and COVERGIRL - LashBlast Volume Mascara for my lashes. I used my favorite SHISEIDO - Shiseido Eyelash Curler to lift my lashes. I didn’t use any concealer or foundation today, so my HIP marks were showing, but I put some BOBBI BROWN - BOBBI BROWN Bronzing Powder on my cheek bones, some Glossier. - Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color along my cheeks, and some BOBBI BROWN - Shimmer Brick Highlighter on the high points of my cheeks and the tip of my nose.

Liquid Highlighters for Every Purpose
I’ve found I favor liquid formulations over powder ones, so here are my thoughts on a few liquid highlighters: BECCA - Ignite Liquified Light Face & Body Highlighter is SUPER concentrated. It’s a beautiful bright gold and provides coverage... which, I don’t prefer for my face. Even the smallest drop applied on the face makes you beam like the sun. However, I have found this is fantastic to apply to collar bones or chest for an extra pop! Rare Beauty - Positive Light Liquid Luminizer Highlight I’m a huge fan of the packaging both aesthetically and functionally. I got the Enchant shade which has a slightly pink hue and is perfect for a bare face or to use as a simplified blush+highlighter. I docked a star because the formulation does not dry completely, and therefore the wear is somewhat compromised. I tend to reach for this in lazy days when I don’t want many steps and when I am not planning to wear a mask, as it smudges some. flesh - Ripe Flesh Glisten Drops I have this shade in Aura, and it is great for a non-glittery, smooth, “glass skin” look. I don’t prefer this applicator, as the dropper can supply an inconsistent amount of product but this stuff dries down for a long wear glow that lasts through mask wearing. Glossier. - Niteshine Highlighter Concentrate this was my liquid highlighter first love. The lightest shade of this compared to the Flesh product is more champagne and gives more color. This also dries down to offer long wear. I feel similarly about this and the Flesh product, just feel they offer different shades to play with.

10 min Makeup - Quick Morning Transformation🧚🏽
I’m technically working from home again. I spent the last couple of weeks working in film production, so I didn’t even have a chance to do anything for myself since ~16 hrs of my day were focused on getting to/from work & being present there. Now that I’m home more, it’s important for me to still treat myself like I’m going somewhere... because I am towards my destiny, finding a way to turn my passion into a career 😅 and it’s nice to look “nice, presentable” or whatever for yourself, even at home... if we’ve learned anything during quarantine, amirite? So here’s what I look like waking up to what a few mins of tending to myself with products looks like ✨ It’s not a huge change, but it definitely perks me up! Also before anyone starts, glasses are cute AF but sometimes I feel like they hide my face, especially in photos! ... even though that’s the reason I got rimless glasses 🤣 Anyways, I started by undoing my overnight braids with a little bit of the GRAYDON - Intimacy Oil on my fingers to “lubricate” the hair strands and give em a little sheen. Then I started my face off with some Glossier. - Haloscope Dew Effect Highlighter in Topaz and Glossier. - Niteshine Highlighter Concentrate in Copper (I like to use this as a bronzer, slight contour) I used the ĀETHER BEAUTY - Crystal Charged Cheek Palette as both highlighter, blush AND the main eyeshadow to brighten my lids. Speaking of eyeshadow, MISMACK - Large ART Shadow in 'Shade' and Pure Anada - Grape Pressed Eye in Espresso we’re used for definition. Then I finished my upper face with Milk MAKEUP - KUSH High Volume Mascara and Milk MAKEUP - KUSH Fiber Brow Gel . To both add a little pigment and hydrate my lips, I used my fave lip balm Kosas - Kosasport Lipfuel in Pulse.

5 Min Get-The-Look: Anna May Wong (AAPIHM Reel!)
As AAPI Heritage month nears an end, I wanted to do a quick tribute to the women of color, particularly Asian Americans, who paved the way in entertainment when Hollywood was an even unfriendlier place than it is today. Anna May Wong, born in Los Angeles in 1905 and gaining lead roles by the 1920s, is considered the first Chinese American movie star in Hollywood. After feeling boxed in playing stereotyped roles, Anna May Wong in her own way, found ways to rebel against the norms within her roles and was considered a fashion icon of her time. Hollywood, a new series on Netflix produced by Ryan Murphy, features a modified account of Anna May Wong’s life. Would recommend! (Actress Michelle Kruseic has the iconic thin brows and straight-cut bangs I was unwilling to get for this look lol.) While the platform for Asian Americans in beauty and media has become more accessible, there is much work to be done. With increasing cases of violence that the Asian-American and Asian diasporic communities have experienced globally as a result of Covid-19, it is important to check in with ourselves on how we can speak against these senseless acts. How can we be better as we continue to consume kbeauty, Japanese sunscreens, commercialized yoga, and jade rollers? I am so grateful for how positive this community on Cherie is and here’s to more days of uplifting each other so that skinfluencers of all skin types and beauty conventions get a voice! Love you all 💕. Cheers 🥂

Liners to make your eyes POP! 👀🤩
Liners to make your eyes POP! 👀🤩
I was never one to wear eye makeup on a daily basis. My makeup of choice would probably be a good brow gel and/or a concealer (I recommend Glossier. - Boy Brow and NARS - Radiant Creamy Concealer ) Then one day I started hopping on the neon liner trend and I have and will never. go. back. It’s such an easy way to make your look so much more interesting with minimal effort (my fashion and beauty motto). I picked up the these Sephora liners because they were super affordable and I wasn’t sure I could commit to the Dior liners that I had heard about. Listen. These liners are amazing!! They both have a felt tip and do not budge after a long day. Best of all, it is easy to remove or fix if you mess up because we all know doing the perfect wing liner is a PROCESS. Only downside is that I wish Sephora made these liners in more vibrant colors, like a red, yellow, pink...maybe even green!!

This is hands down my favorite tinted brow gel! The texture isn’t sticky, not super thick but still gives the brows some color and keeps them in place all day! I definitely wish Sephora carried Glossier. I’m obsessed! I would definitely recommend this product! I haven’t found a dupe that works quite like this one! I love it. Glossier. - Boy Brow

I’m up early this morning, which is unheard of for me 😅 sharing what makeup I used yesterday. The Givenchy Khol Couture Waterproof eyeliner (in Cobalt) is one that I’ve shared before! Ever since I saw Maria Giannetos in blue eyeliner I was on the hunt for the perfect one. I tried a few but none really matched my expectations until this one. It goes on soo smoothly that you could even smudge it to look more like an eyeshadow. No surprise, the blush is by Charlotte Tilbury, in Love Glow! Put a little bit on my nose as well. The mascara is from Ohii Beauty, aka the only glasses friendly mascara I own 🙂 On that note, I need tips for keeping lashes curled! Mine always fall flat after an hour and end up pushing against my glasses. I know I asked on our stories but if you have any tips I would really appreciate them ❤️ Finally, the Ohii Beauty magic hair wand is absolutely a STAPLE. I wear it on my brows every single day, more on my brows than on my actual hair for fly aways. I like it more than boy brow tbh 🤫 -Dax

LOVE Cloud Paint, can’t find a dupe
LOVE Cloud Paint, can’t find a dupe
I typically try to find drugstore makeup unless I fall in love with a more expensive product. I LOOOOVEEE cloud paint so much and I have Storm and Dusk and have seriously considered buying all the shades! 2nd pic is my current LinkedIn picture, I always joke I credit Glossier Cloud paint for my look that day 😂 For me, Storm can be a bit dark so I save it for when I want to look more rosy or dress up a bit. Dusk is perfect for a more natural look because on me it’s almost light brownish/tan (but not on all skin tones). I’m currently torn between trying drugstore dupes or getting more from Glossier 🤪 Any drugstore recs out there?!

So this is actually my first makeup product from Glossier!!! Shocker I know hahah. I spend very little time doing my brows when it comes to make up I usually just brush them through or fill in with a pencil. My brows are pretty thick especially with the quarantine we had. But I’ve had my eye on this for a bit so figured I’d just give in because I didn’t really have a reason not too. I still think I need to get used to the applicator but wow I’m definitely impressed. I really like how thin the strokes it make is and it lasts a really long time. I’ve only used this once so far so I can’t give it a rating yet but I’m excited to keep playing with the Glossier. - Brow Flickmore!

Less is more! No makeup makeup!
Less is more! No makeup makeup!
Not into a heavy makeup look or just need to look a little alive on lazy days? Below are my favorite products for minimal makeup! Not wearing makeup isn’t everyone’s ideal.. we have different skin concerns and even just makeup styles. I went through a phase of not wanting to wear makeup and having pretty clear skin! On my skin’s best days, here is what I like to use... Glossier. - Perfecting Skin Tint Just for tiniest bit of coverage. Easy to apply via fingers! I do not recommend it with a sponge due to its watery consistency. This is NOT for everyone, it really has bare minimum coverage. This only works for me when my skin when it’s at its best. Glossier. - Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color The best glossier product ever! Gel/cream blush with a bang! Add subtle color to your cheeks or wherever you need to add some life to your look, but not overpowering the natural look. These are very pigmented and long lasting. I love the cloud paint blush. Glossier. - Brow Flick For the brow babes that like a natural look. Like an eyeliner, but for adding hair like strokes into your brow where it needs it most. This can be a hit or miss sometimes and takes some practice to get it right, but once you do, your brows look really natural and stay put for the most part. flesh - Hot Sauce Lip Gloss MY FAVORITE MOST COMFY LIP GLOSS! this feels nothing like a gloss and looks so amazing. I’m not a gloss girl, but this is really it! #cheriepartner
