Neutrogena T/Gel + 1% Coal Tar saved my Dandruff
HONEST FEMME FINDS: I always prided myself for having long, black voluminous hair that listened to my every command. As I entered my mid-20s however, I began experiencing my fair share of trials and tribulations with stress-related dandruff (malassezia furfur?) and hair loss. In 2019, when the dandruff first appeared, I suspected that it was due to a change in my skincare routine (some of the AHAs and other acids seeping onto my scalp) or me experimenting with Apple Cider Vinegar and BC Powder (salicylic acid derivative) as a “hair mask”. Don’t ask me where I got the idea- I think it was per suggestion of a coworker. 🤷🏻♀️ Products I Tried Before T/Gel: (1) TJ’s Tea Tree Oil Shampoo (2) Head & Shoulders Classic Dandruff Shampoo (3) Selsun Blue Moisturizing Dandruff Shampoo (4) Nizoral (Ketoconazole 1%) Anti-Dandruff Shampoo (5) Neutrogena T/Gel Original Formula with 1% Coal Tar As you can see, I was hesitant to use the Coal Tar simply because I feared the smell- and mind you, I smelled like the La Brea Tar Pits for a few weeks when I finally used it! It’s a drying formula and I initially switched between Coal Tar and the Nizoral Shampoo. I used each of the aforementioned products for 10+ days and only the Coal Tar prevailed in controlling my dandruff (within 3 weeks of solo use). Something you may notice is the shampoos’ ability to clear up facial acne! Today, exactly one year later, with Covid-19 and the ongoing med school stress, my dandruff is back! My scalp is embarrassingly shiny and flakey and I’m ready to use Coal Tar again. Check back in a few days as I write about this anti-dandruff journey 2.0! Invigorate my hair strands💪💪💪
I tried various products from "natural" shampoo to the ones that contain selenium sulfide or pyrithione zinc.None of them worked well, but this shampoo with coal tar did the trick. After several times applications, most of my dandruff subsided significantly and my scalp no longer itch as much as before. Neutrogena - T/Gel, Therapeutic Shampoo, Original Formula The first week I used this shampoo of Neutrogena, I did find it was leaving my naturally curly hair a little dry and tangly.... so I paired this with OGX Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner. I get oily roots and mild itchiness. And now I have to say my hair and scalp have never felt and looked this good. No tangles- just soft and manageable hair with no scales and no flakes!! Also, It invigorates my hair strands and help my scalp strengthen the roots of my hair! My process: I wet my hair all over, pour about two quarter size of the shampoo on my hand and then lather only all over my scalp area. I massage the scalp for about a minute and leave it on for another two minutes and rinse. Then I use regular shampoo for the bottom part of my hair and rinse. Wash with it every other day for first week then reduced to only two times a week . I have searched far and wide for something to work and stop my scalp from itching and sprinkling dandruff. After first use, I noticed it reduced the dry areas above my bangs and the dandruff started on the second day, whereas before it would start immediately after shower. After third use, the dandruff stopped completely and the itching became bareable. Finally, no more scales, no more flakes and itchiness is significantly improved! Now I am seeing significant improvement. I still have some itchiness but I find that it subsides as soon as I wash my hair again. I have also just applied some of the shampoo on those itchy spots and let it sit there for a while a few times. Also works! However, the smell of the shampoo can be a little off putting, like straight chemical ，initially it reminded me of the smell of a diesel truck exhaust, but I've gotten use to it now. If u mind, you could start using it on the lower half of your scalp while still using regular shampoo on the top half. It'll work amazingly! The bottle size is huge for the price you pay. I hope it last me a few months. Either way, I'm happy that it works and will continue to use this product.

For the last 10 years I've struggled with Androgenic Alopecia or Female Pattern Baldness. My hair would start to grow and then start thinning and falling out in . Hair has always been an emotional subject for me and the I have shed so many tears over the years. I've gone to dermatologist and hair specialists to help me treat my hair and find something that would help but nothing did! I would wear wigs to hide my bald spots and sometimes just give up on my hair all together until I started using these products together and wearing protective hair styles. Last year in May my hair began falling out again and I cut the rest off so people couldn't see the bald spots. In the first picture you can see my hair is completely shaved. The second photo is my hair this year in April! My hair is and brittle so I need products that will add moisture to my hair and create a around each strand to protect it from the elements especially in the winter. 💫 The OGX coconut Miracle Oil shampoo and conditioner have really worked miracles for my hair. These products are made specifically for damaged hair! Both the shampoo and conditioner are thick and creamy. They make my hair soft and easy to comb th which means less hair down the drain. They add so much shine to my hair and make my scalp feel like it had a tall glass of water. 💫 I've tried so many hair oils but nothing has worked quite as well as Jamaican black Castor Oil. I used either Sunny Isle or Tropic Isle castor oil and they both are amazing! Jamaican Black Castor Oil has many benefits for digestion, skin and hair : + Promotes Hair Growth + Moisturizes Hair + Strengthens Hair + Prevents Hair Breakage + Heals and Prevents Split Ends While it doesn't smell the best it has really has helped my hair beyond expectation. I would 100% recommend these products to anyone that is experiencing hair breakage, damage, thinning or hair loss. They are pretty inexpensive. Each product is less than $12. I also tie my hair up in either a hair scarf or satin lined bonnet at night to prevent any breakage from friction on my pillow. One of my favorite products to sleep with is Grace Eleyae satin lined caps. They hair a variety of hair care bonnets , hats, headbands, scrunchies and pillow cases so you are protecting your hair all of the time! Products can be found at graceeleyae.com. @BriAlecia
Favorite Shampoo and Conditioner!
My hair care is pretty simple🧖🏻♀️🐶 . . . I shower at night so it’s dry by morning so I rarely use a hair dryer. I usually put my hair up in a bun a couple times a week so I only use heat on it about 4 days a week. And I don’t color it or use a lot of product. . . . With all my hair facts out of the way, time for my favorites! I use @moroccanoil shampoo and conditioner and it smells amazing! I have somewhat thick hair and even a little bit goes a long ways for me. I then use @randco Acid Wash about once a week. It strips my hair of any build up and smells amazing! I use it on it’s own and my hair is so soft and shiny afterwards💙 . . . Please note the Acid Wash is gifted but opinions are my own. The Moroccanoil shampoo and conditioner is a little expensive but it’s totally worth it for how little I need and how long it lasts!

If you have fine hair, you should try them and won't regret!
I have very typical fine and soft hair, which can cause two problems. On the one hand, the hair is easy to produce oil and becomes greasy and ugly. If the grease is serious, it will block the pores of the scalp, resulting in dandruff and itching. On the other hand, thin hair is hard to set. If the hair is close to the scalp, the face will look big. So, I am glad I found some useful products. Below I will introduce a set of shampoo and conditioner. Here is a personal TIP to share, that is, it is best to use one brand of shampoo and conditioner. This not only help the product to maximize their efficacy, but also does not cause allergies or mutual exclusion. AUSSIE Miracle Volume Shampooaussie - Paraben-Free Miracle Volume Shampoo with Plum & Bamboo For Fine Hair $6/360ML I occasionally buy this shampoo during the promotion, but who knows it has become my favorite. This brand is very popular because of its high cost performance, and its ace products are also very popular all over the world. This shampoo is mainly used for the fluffy effect. In my opinion, it can keep the washed hair fresh for a long time. At the same time, it has a relatively strong cleaning power, so the soft hair is not easy to turn oil. More importantly, I think it has a unique fragrance of coconut milk, which makes it very enjoyable to wash your hair. aussie - Miracle Moist 3 Minute Miracle with Avocado for Dry Hair Repair $5/236ML This deep conditioner is a consistent winner of top beauty product awards including the 2011 and 2012 Allure Best of Beauty Award and 2013 Glamour Glammy Award for “Best Conditioner". It is indeed worthy of such an award, and for me, this product is indeed a miracle. With 3 times of moisturizing ability, it could turn dry hair into silky waves in just 3 minutes and add nutritious high moisturizing formula with a little Australian Aloe Vera, Jojoba and Kelp. This conditioner is thicker than ordinary conditioner, so after using strong shampoo, I will put it on my wet hair, and it is best to wrap it up and rinse it off later. Leave a comment if you have questions!

Not a curly girl’s dream
I’ve seen Amika products raved about all over instagram so when I saw this little set at @tjmaxx I had to give it a try. I’ve used it around 3 times now and so far I’m not too crazy about it. The shampoo gives my hair a nice fragrance however, it puffs my hair up and makes it too clean. It strips my hair of all oils and makes them feel limp. amika: - Triple Rx Shampoo The conditioner makes my hair soft but it’s a different kind of soft. Kinda like an inflated cake. I don’t really have much to say about the conditioner. It really wasn’t that great. amika: - Triple Rx Conditioner I also want to mention that these products are full of itchy m’s, silicone, and sls. It would probably be a better fit for straight haired folks that don’t deal that much with frizz, puffiness, and crazy ringlets.

This Shampoo & Conditioner Duo Does Wonders For My Fine Hair
If you have fine hair like me, you know the struggles. It gets tangled easily, greasy quicker, and it can be a pain to style. Most fine-haired gals will probably relate to feeling like you don't have enough hair or fly-aways happen to us way more often than those girls with super thick locks. Personally, my hair is fine but also curly/wavy. My biggest concerns are frizz, volume, and keeping my curls as hydrated as possible. Fine hair always tends to get 'dirty' faster than thick hair too. I notice the bottom of my strands feel dry, but my roots get greasy. My Favorite Shampoo & Conditioner For Fine Curly Hair: I'm a massive fan of the VERB Curl Shampoo + Conditioner. Each of two products rings in at $18 and has a light, grapefruit, and oatmeal scent. I think it's also important to note that these are cruelty-free and free of parabens, which is super important to me when I look for beauty products. The shampoo VERB - VERB Curl Shampoogently cleanses my fine, curly hair without stripping its natural moisture. I also notice it leaves my scalp feeling extra clean. The shampoo is made with Glycerin, Sunflower Seed Extract, and it's rich in fatty acids. I think these ingredients help my delicate coils feel less flat and frizzy. The conditionerVERB - VERB Curl Conditioner is what makes the duo great! I love that it's a nurturing, curl-defining conditioner. It makes my hair feel way more hydrated, and my lifeless, frizzy, fine coils look way more polished. After conditioning with the VERB Curl Conditioner, my hair feels so much softer and looks more voluminous because it defines my curl patterns. To get the most out of this awesome duo, I usually finish off my hair routine with the VERB Curl Cream to keep my hair looking its best.
