🤰🏻Let’s Talk Melasma: Tranexamic Acid 5%
I want to start incorporating one of my favorite topics in relation to skincare: pregnancy! I want to note that I have never been pregnant so my only knowledge are the OBGYN topics I’ve studied and my own research I’ve done in my free time. Sooooo Let’s talk about Naturium’s newest launch, Tranexamic Topical Acid 5%! 🔬 What is Tranexamic Acid (TXA) and what is it used for? 🏷 Orally used as a coagulant, TXA has been recently studied topically as a treatment for hyperpigmentation and melasma. 🏷 TXA has been studied against a famous ingredient for hyperpigmentation, hydroquinone, both of which have shown to reduce melasma. 🏷 TXA is gentler and fewer users in the clinical trial have complained of skin irritation (vs with Hydroquinone). 🔬What is Melasma? 🏷 Also known as pregnancy induced hyperpigmentation, melasma is a patchy freckle-like distribution on the cheeks in particular that can actually occur in anyone. Hormones during pregnancy + excessive sun exposure just puts 🤰🏻 at risk for this condition. 🏷 can be prevented by using mineral SPF throughout pregnancy! 🏷 standard treatment for melasma is a triple combo therapy with topical hydroquinone, tretinoin and corticosteroids but can only be used postpartum. 🏷 other ingredients that have been helpful include TXA, azelaic acid and Kojic acid. NATURIUM - Tranexamic Topical Acid 5% I don’t suffer from a lot of hyperpigmentation so I actually had my partner who has non-pregnancy related freckles/hyperpigmentation use it for 2-3 weeks AM and PM. Here are her thoughts: - Formula feels nice but slightly sticky upon application. Probably not the best thing to use under makeup in the morning but is fine as a night serum. - Unfortunately no huge differences in decreasing hyperpigmentation so far! Will have to report back if there are any longer term effects. - TXA is 3rd the ingredient list. Yay! - This formula also contains kojic acid, licorice root extract and niacinamide (all brightening) so if you’re looking for a targeted brightening serum in your routine, it’s not a bad option! Cheers to pregnancy skin 🥂 Please discuss down below what you’d like to know about pregnancy (and postpartum) + skincare!!

INGREDIENT SPOTLIGHT: Bromelain (🍍Extract)
If anyone ever told you to eat pineapple to get rid of digestion issues or if you ever got a raw-feeling tongue after eating too much pineapple you have been friends with bromelain. What is Bromelain? Bromelain is essentially a protein breakdown product (can be used as a meat tenderizer). Of course in skincare, they wouldn’t be putting quite the same concentration! Uses for Bromelain/Pineapple in Skincare: In skincare, I imagine Bromelain would work great as an exfoliant. It breaks down skin’s proteins and leaves the face fresh and smooth. Not much research has been done on it though. I found a serum that uses Bromelain which got me curious. Here are my thoughts: #COOP + DAISY - Brighten Up Glow Serum[products]#[TwoStars] 🍍The product has Niacinamide and Pineapple extract as its key ingredients, which makes me question what the serum is really trying to achieve. Are we trying to add as much hydration as possible or are we trying to exfoliate the skin? It is unclear. 🍍The gentle smell and consistency made applying the serum a pleasant experience! 🍍 Alcohol is pretty high on the ingredient list, and while not all products with alcohol are drying, this one was. The serum felt comfortable on application but it’s hydrating properties evaporated quickly, leaving my skin feeling tighter than I expected. 🍍 I am interested in trying fruit enzymes, perhaps more in the cleansing/exfoliating step of skincare so this serum is a pass for me! I need something much more hydrating than this. 2/5
!VOTE! A Guide to Former Justice RBG’s Style
It’s been quite a year 2020 and I can’t believe we’re one month out from elections! So many losses this year, one of them being the powerful and graceful Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. RBG was not only a person who seriously changed the game for women and gender nonconforming persons, she was also a fashion icon. The subtle messaging she communicated through her accessories was well known. Notably, when the Supreme Court portrait was retaken to include Brett Kavanaugh, RBG wore a spiked collar necklace of “dissent”, signaling her disapproval. I can only dream of doing a sliver of what RBG has done for women’s rights. Today, after taking some notes about her style, I am going to recreate her look with what I had around my home! This is also a reminder that even within the beauty space like on Cherie, our voices are important and that questioning the status quo as RBG did thoroughout her life will make us even better as a nation. VOTE VOTE VOTE 💕 A GUIDE TO RBG’S STYLE: Makeup: 1. A Classic Wearable Red Lip, bold yet subtle for the courts. 2. Brown Muted Eye Makeup, clean and soft eyebrows. 3. High Cheekbones, enhanced by very subtle blush or highlighter. 4. Slick Hair, no frills type of gal. PS; I got the Oribe Demystifying hairspray as a sample but wow, first time my hair stayed without feeling crunchy. Would recommend. 👍🏼 Accessories: 1. A Collared Necklace, each one a symbol of her (dis)approval, mood, and stance on the courts. 2. Secured Scrunchies/Hair Scarf with a Tight Bun or Low Pony is a nod to the 80s and 90s style that she somehow always made classy. 3. Oval Earrings (often with stones or in gold), again a vintage statement. 4. Round Oversized Glasses, which I don’t own but made RBG only look wiser! Clothing: 1. Black or Embroidered Tops w/ a Slight Neckline. I’m wearing a mock neck tank from Aritzia with a poncho since I obviously don’t own a justice gown! 2. Fishnet Lace Gloves, which I didn’t have, but would finish off this look with an Art Deco feminine touch! Items I Used: 1. MINISO - FLAWLESS Velvet Liquid Lipstick 2. MAYBELLINE - Cheek Heat Gel-Cream Blush 3. ORIBE - Mystify Restyling Spray 4. Universal Thread Gold Collar/Plate Necklace (2018) 5. Oak + Fort Oval Pearl Earrings (2020) 6. Black Mockneck Tank from Aritizia (2019) 7. Blacket Poncho from Banana Republic Factory (2019)
MAYBELLINE-Cheek Heat Gel-Cream Blush
Cherie Made Me...Dupe My Glossier Staples 🙈
Thanks to posts I’ve seen on Cherie especially by the lovely @Glossy.glossary, I’ve been convinced to consider more affordable options to two of my favorite Glossier products: 🎨 Glossier Cloud Paint AND 🎨 Glossier Boy Brow Let’s see how the dupes fared!! Glossier. - Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color VS MAYBELLINE - Cheek Heat Gel-Cream Blush Although less than half the price of cloud paint, Cheek Heat is similar to glossier in all of its packaging and application but fell through with the actual formulation. Cheek Heat is a much lighter formulation, feels like a serum more than a blush, but for this same reason I had to use 4-5x the amount of product I’d normally use for blush!! It moves around and spreads like a serum so even a modest amount of face touching made the blush go away fast. When spread around the cheek, it looks blotchy and runny like I have some vascular issue on my cheeks. Cheek Heat in coral is a gorgeous color and it definitely looks more natural than Cloud Paint in Dusk but I just can’t deal with blush that doesn’t last. The fact that I had to use so much product just for one application does not justify the lower cost. Cloud paint stays put and listens to me so much more. Glossier. - Boy Brow VS e.l.f. - Wow Brow Gel I am WOWed by Wow brow. Boy brow in brown has been a staple in my makeup bag and really the only brow product I use daily since brow gels became a thing. Wow Brow is 1/3 of the price at $5 for essentially the SAME results. I’ve been wearing one product on each eyebrow all day and can’t even tell the difference. Wow brow has a longer brush /bristles which I actually though made the application cleaner. Wow brow does dry slightly “chrunchier” than Boy Brow if you know what I mean. They last equally as long. Cheers 🥂
Is Oat Cleansing Balm a 1st or 2nd Cleanse?!
The Inkey Lists’s THE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm has been sold out on Sephora for agessss since quarantine began so when I finally got my hands on this in stores, I knew I had to try it. WHAT IT IS: 🌾 AM/PM cleanser for the face, prior to serum And moisturizer. 🌾 contains 3% oat oil for moisture protection and blackhead reduction 🌾 contains 1% oat powder for redness reduction and irritation 🌾 sweet almond oil and sativa Oat herbal oil and flour are both key ingredients useful for barrier protection 🌾 an extremely affordable $9.99 cleanser for 150ml of product. 🌾 BONUS: can also be used as a 10 min wash off mask if your skin is feeling dry WHAT IT FEELS LIKE: 🌾 I’ve never washed my face with Vaseline before but I imagine this is what it would feel like. This Oat cleansing balm leaves a thicker layer on my skin than any cleansing balm I’ve ever used. While it is in tube form, this cleanser feels much more like a 1st cleanse balm than an oil cleanser. 🌾 It doesn’t feel at all like a 2nd cleanser. This balm will not be enough to create the detergent foaming effect you’re looking for so definitely add one in if you plan on using this cleanser in your routine. 🌾 Do not get this product in your eyes! I made that mistake while my contacts were in and I had blurry vision for the whole day after. 🌾 It’s less melty than a cleansing balm so you’ll get a more thorough wash using warmer water (in the shower)! On the same note, I have to use a lot of effort to squeeze this product out. WHO IT’S GOOD FOR: 🌾 Dry/Combo skin types looking for hydration at every step 🌾 people living in dry or windy climates 🌾 people experiencing cold winters 🌾 the no-makeup makeup wearer 🌾 people looking for balms with little/no scent! Cheers 🥂

🍷 Perfect Skín Glossy Moisturizing Lipstick 🍷
MINISO - Perfect Skin Glossy Moisturizing Lipstick About me 🤗 and the product 🍷Skin type/skin tone I have naturally dry lips 😭 and my natural color is a pale nude color. 🍷Product function The product claims to make the lips soft and smooth while providing weightless coverage that blends seamlessly with the lips. 🍷Texture/consistency The texture and consistency of the product is so creamy and smooth and glides onto the lips so easily. 🍷Packaging The packaging is simple yet gorgeous. It is a standard lipstick cartage but it has a magnetic mechanism which allows for an effortless closure and opening. The actual product inside has a fun and beautiful shape of a twisting star 🌟, Beauty story📖 🍷Overall experience My mom went out of town and there was a Miniso where she went and she bought this product for me. I think this product is only found in Miniso, a variety store that specializes in cute household and consumer goods including stationary, toys, cosmetics, and kitchenware. I tested this product right away and was pleasantly surprised by the packaging. The star shapped inside actuall makes it simple to apply the product. A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY with this product!! The first time that I applied this I did not know how intense the formula was and I applied it to my whole lip. It. Was. So. BOLD! It was extremly easy to apply and provides such high coverage and pigment. The next time I used it I applied only a bit in the center of my lips and blended it out to the edges. 🍷Verdict ❤️❤️ This is one of my favorite lipsticks! Even though it isn't really a large known brand, the formula is so longlasting and I noticed that the longer I wear it for, the better the color looks. The color I got is 09 Wine Red and I love it. It is such a deep rich red and I'm glad that a little goes a long way since I don't know if I'll be able to purchase this product after I finish it. The formula is super comfortable and weightless and does not smudge all over the place. It also doesn't dry out my lips like other lipsticks. It is also very versatile since if you want it to be shiny then just apply it, if you don't want a shine, then you can smudge it out and it'll look matte!! 🍷Recommend? I absolutely recommend this to everyone since it provides such rich color that is seamless, weightles, and longlasting! 🍷Worth it?💰 The product retails for $7! It is so cheap and provides a great rich color and has a great formula!

Manuka honey for Acne - Get this cleanser for 7$
Manuka honey is a type of honey native to New Zealand. It’s produced by bees who pollinate the flower Leptospermum scoparium, commonly known as the manuka bush. Manuka honey’s antibacterial properties are what set it apart from traditional honey. This antibacterial property helps in reducing the number of bacteria causing acne leading in beung a perfect supplement for Acne prone skin. Methylglyoxal is its active ingredient and likely responsible for these antibacterial effects. Additionally, manuka honey has antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits. In fact, it has traditionally been used for wound healing, soothing sore throats, preventing tooth decay and improving digestive issues. Key benefits of Mauka honey: 1. Aid Wound Healing 2. Reapirs broken barrier 3. Soothes skin and inflammation 4. Treat Acne You can find Manuka honey in many skincare products these days but I found one affordable, drugstore product that's great for my Hormonal acne and Combination skin type. It's @earthtoskin Manuka Honey calming face cleanser earthtoskin - Honey Manuka Calming Face Cleanser 🐝This cleanser is packed with Manuka Honey Extract and Glycerin; both known to draw in water, replenish by helping to create a protective skin barrier. 🐝The calming, sugar-based formula lathers up rich and creamy and is safe for all skin types. 🐝It Helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles for a more youthful appearance. 🐝The best part is it's only $6.96 ✨My experience: I found it to be a little more drying than some other non-stripping cleansers. But it's nothing crazy drying so it makes a good cleanser for Oily/Acne prone skin types. It has a strong scent to it but it's mostly floral and honey based. If you don't mind a little bit fragrance in your wash off treatments you can try this one. I think it helped my active hormonal breakouts to some degree. It won't be working as effective as BHA AKA Salicylic acid but it definitely helps in getting rid of some small cystic bumps and milia. This has glycerin which definitely helps in Hydrating skin but do apply your Hydrating toners and serums after this for boosted effect. I think for 6.96$ it's not a bad option at all. If you can splurge a little bit more there are many other expensive options bit you can get this at Walmart and under 10$ is the reason I bought it. Let me know if you have any questions ❤️ Happy Skincare!

If you have Dark spots, PIH get Ginseng!
In my exploration and study if ingredients there are certain ingredients that stand out and are certainly hero ingredients but are way too underrated in certain parts of the world. One such ingredient is Ginseng. It is definitely not an unsung ingredient in East Asian culture for centuries. It's one of those ingredients Asian products include with as ease as humectants. ✨Then 'Why is Ginseng so popular and loved in Eastern beauty world' Certain key benefits of Ginseng are: 1. Skin brightener and helps in reducing hyperpigmentation: The herb acts as a skin brightener, aiding in the fight against photoaging and pigmentation and making the complexion look brighter, lighter and more youthful. Studies have found it can also inhibit the production of melanin, protecting the skin from the type of pigmentation caused by UV radiation, or sun damage. 1. Collagen booster, and then some: Several studies have found that ginseng is effective in increasing the production of collagen in the skin’s dermis, firming, toning and plumping skin and diminishing wrinkles and fine lines. 2. Complex complexion helper: 3. The skincare all-rounder helpful in treating everything from wounds to burns and other skin irritations such as razor rash. Ginseng’s anti-inflammatory properties and ability to naturally balance oil production within the skin mean it’s also effective in reducing acne outbreaks, as well as assisting in conditions such as rosacea and psoriasis. 4. Reduces Dark circles: Those same properties that fight against pigmentation make it highly effective in lightening dark under-eye circles, so look out for products with ginseng in the ingredients. 5. Fight hair fall It encourages hair growth by stimulating blood flow to the scalp and improving the health of hair follicles and cells, minimising hair fall. I'm listing few of my favorite Ginseng products to choose from : 1. @origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff, $32 - Frangrant (Essential oils) This de-puffing eye cream has both ginseng and caffeine from coffee to reduce dark circles ORIGINS - GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff 2. @origins Ginzing Into The Glow Brightening Serum, $44 - Fragrant (Essential oils) ORIGINS - Ginzing Into the Glow Brightening Serum 3. @kiehl's Cactus Flower & Tibetan Ginseng Hydrating Mist, $27 - Fragrant This refreshing mist boasts Tibetan ginseng to boost cell respiration Kiehl's - Cactus Flower & "Tibetan Ginseng" Hydrating Mist 4. @tatcha The Dewy skin cream, $68 - Fragrant It has ginkgo extract, ceramides and ginseng extractsTATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream 5. @theordinary Glycolic acid 7% toning solution, $8.70 - Fragrance free This contains glycolic acid, amino acids, aloe vera, ginseng and Tasmanian pepperberry. CHANGE YOUR LOOK WITH PONYTAIL EXTENSIONS✨
I have long hair (down to my waist line) and it obviously keeps its length when I wear my hair down but with pony tails, it loses half its length. I like the trend of an extra long ponytail so I looked into ordering one. The added length also lengthens out my round face. Product: zala - Human Ponytail Clip in Hair Extensions $60+ The extension I bought was the 26” I have naturally straight hair so when blended into the ponytail it looks seamless. This long ponytail is definitely not for day-to-day activities but I love wearing it on nights out or to events. The length of the ponytail also allows for added styling with braids etc. To use: I first put my hair into a ponytail on top of my head, smoothing back any fly-always. Next, I clip in the extension with the clip attachment and wrap around the hair piece until it’s velcroed. After that, I wrap around the extra piece of hair the product comes with and secure said piece with 2 bobby pins. If done correctly, the ponytail should last all night. What do you guys think? Short ponytail or long? ⬇️⬇️
zala-Human Ponytail Clip in Hair Extensions
This moisturizer is seriously underrated. The Momo Puri Moisture Gel Cream from BCL Company has peach leaf extract, bergamot fruit extract, squalane and hyaluronic acid— Two GREAT hydrating ingredients— and vitamins A, C, and E. It promises to nourish your skin and leave it plumper and bouncier. As a complete grease rag of a human being, I love the light gel consistency. I also love piling on the hydration, which I find is key in combating oiliness. This gel cream transitions well from hotter months to cold— The thinner texture is lightweight enough for the summer and it feels amazing straight out the fridge, but it provides enough moisture to keep dry skin at bay in the winter. I would warn anyone sensitive to fragrance that this does contain a subtle peach scent, but I honestly love it. I got this jar back in June and I’ve barely put a dent in it. A little goes such a long way that I don’t even know when I’ll have to repurchase this. At around $12 USD, this gel cream is definitely worth the price. 5 out of 5, holy grail status for me.
