Two Finger Sunscreen Rule
Hey guys! You might have heard about the two finger rule floating around the internet, but is it something you’re implementing in your routine? Two full fingers of sunscreen is a good way to eyeball the recommended amount of product for your face and neck. This gives you adequate coverage for a full two hours after application. It can seem like nuisance to reapply, but I guarantee after two weeks you’ll see and feel the difference. As a person with a tan complexion I was SURE two whole fingers of sunscreen would leave me looking like a ghost! But i wanted to demonstrate that it’s not as excessive as it might seem. I was able to rub it in, fall on my butt, and prove my point in less than a minute ! Sunscreen is finally getting the respect she deserves in the skincare community, and making sure we’re putting on enough (and reapplying) is essential. Let’s make sure us cherie cuties are doing our best and setting the example for proper sun care! Cetaphil - DermaControl Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30

AM and PM affordable barrier repair routine
So I had a recent wake up call; sunscreen isn’t supposed to tingle when you put it on and serums shouldn’t just sit on top of your skin. Who knew?! Both of these reactions were clear signs that my moisture barrier had suffered. I pared back my routine to these five products. I’m planning on sticking to this routine until my barrier is appropriately healed or at least for the next two weeks. First part of my AM routine is to wash my HANDS then splash my face with cool water, just to help myself perk up and to remove any sleep acquired gunk. Next comes The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Which I’ve been using for about ten months and is really beneficial for my oily skin and prominent pores. I like to give this a good three minutes, give or take, to absorb. Although this is an active ingredient it is also an antioxidant meaning it’s really nutritious for the skin, and can be applied twice a day. (If you’re sensitive to zinc this product might break you out) Before applying a pea+ sized amount of The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA I dab a bit of water on my face. I find that applying this to slightly damp skin makes all the difference. It delivers that hydration deep into my skin. When attempting to repair your barrier frying hydration into different layers of your skin is so important. The final part of my morning routine is Cetaphil - DermaControl Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30 This is one of my favorite SPF’s. I find that when I give it a full 15 minutes to absorb it leaves no white cast and as a person with oily skin i was able to reapply this without feeling totally greasy. At the end of the day I cleanse with CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin This is a new addition for me. I wanted a cleanser that could tackle my oil production without stripping my skin and further harming my barrier, and so far this has been a life saver! I definitely notice a difference in my t-zone. I moisturize with The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA again. And most nights I butter myself up with CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream before tucking myself in. I love that this contains ceramides and a low dose of niacinamide. I’d like to find something with a better slip and that sinks in quicker as well. Overall it’s a great night cream though. All of these products are under 20 dollars and they’re all tailored towards repairing your skins barrier and adding extra nutrients!
Update on sunscreens ☀️☀️☀️
I made the switch. I’ve been using the cerave facial moisturising lotion spf 15 CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 and I’ve found that the applicator is difficult to use and it’s very messy. It doesn’t feel heavy or leave a white tint but for every day use it’s quite a hassle with the applicator so I switched to cetaphil acne prone spf 25 moisturising lotion Cetaphil - DermaControl Oil Control Moisturizer SPF 30 . I feel better using this one too since it says it’s more for acne prone sensitive skin, even though the cerave claims to be gentle and non-comedogenic. I will use the cerave one if I run out or am in need of one, but I found the cetaphil one has more in it and is cheaper too. Since half the bottle of cerave is for the applicator that doesn’t seem to work. In saying this, they are both really good affordable products Let me know what your opinions are on which moisturising lotion sunscreen you guys prefer! 🤔🤔🤔

Wearing sunscreen everyday
Hello everyone ! I am a 21 years old white woman, and I am having trouble with my SPF experience. So for the past 3 months, I have been wearing SPF 50-60 everyday, and avoided direct sun exposure. Although I do not doubt that it will be beneficial over time for aging as well as my hyperpigmentation, I noticed that I look really pale, almost unhealthy and sick, and I hate this. (Not because of the white cast of the sunscreen, this is how my skin looks without everything on it). Moreover, my scars show up a lot more because of the contrast on really pale skin, as well as my redness. So here I come, looking for advice or simply a discussion, and see if anyone else is having a similar experience ! For the sake of my skin appearance at the moment, should I alternate sunscreen days ? What about self-tanning ? 💙💜💚
BARE REPUBLIC - Mineral Body Sunscreen Gel Lotion SPF 30 I found this sunscreen in a Skincare by Hyram video and thought I’d give it a go. Hyram recommended the body lotion to use on the face since they’re pretty much the same thing and the same price. I’m not sure what happened, but when I put this on after my normal skincare, it started to pill and clump up. I wish I had taken a picture of it. I also noticed a pimple pop up after using it (may not be related). I’m not sure what happened and I think it didn’t react well with one of my other products, but I had to return it. I’m giving it 2 starts because it had a nice scent from its ingredients and it was a nice consistency. I also technically didn’t use it as normally directed so I feel like it doesn’t deserve a 1. For anyone curious of what my skincare normally looks like, and hopefully might be able to direct me to a new sunscreen recommendation, I use: Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser Thayer’s Cucumber Witch Hazel toner (don’t come at me, I’m trying to find something new) TO Niacinamide TO Caffeine Eye Solution TO 100% Plant Derived Hemi-Squalane Clinique 72-Hr Moisture Surge

This is the Supergoop! Sunscreen mouse with spf 50! This is my all time favorite sunscreen it’s so light weight and melts into the skin leaving no white caste or gray sheen of color. I moved onto my second bottle a couple months and the first bottle lasted me 6 months with daily use. It’s got 3.4 fl. Oz of product so definitely worth the price of 34 dollars. The product is discontinued but they have the body mouse which I love just as much and can be used on the face of course. Supergoop! - Super Power Sunscreen Mousse Why it’s my favorite: -REEF SAFE!! - Includes blue sea extract which protects your skin from free radicals (free radicals speed up skin aging and soak up the lipids in your skin. You basically don’t want that bear your skin. - Has coconut oil in it so it’s very moisturizing You can find this product on www. Dermstore.com

Summer in a Bottle
SOL de Janeiro - Bum Bum Sol Oil SPF 30 #soldejaneirogiftedme their Bum Bum Sol Oil SPF 30. I was super curious to try this product because 1) I’m in need of a body SPF, and 2) I am crazy pale and burn pretty easily, but I also want to bask in the sun and get a touch of color 😭 I’ve been using this for two weeks now, and for the most part I’m a big fan. It smells, of course, like their delightful and cult-favorite Cheirosa ‘62 scent. This is a beautiful dry oil that leaves your skin glossy but not sticky, and has a really pretty mica glitter effect. Also, it’s impossible to photograph, BY THERE IS A TINY SURFBOARD CHILLING IN THE BOTTLE THAT GOES FOR A LITTLE RIDE EVERY TIME YOU SHAKE IT UP. SEND HELP IT’S THE CUTEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN. I have an obsession with tiny versions of normal objects, and it brings me an idiotic amount of joy to watch it zoom around. What I DON’T like about this product is the dumb sprayer 🤦🏼♀️ It manages to spritz oil on everything around you: it got on the book I was reading, my water bottle, basically anything in a three foot radius. I would really prefer just a simple pump situation that doesn’t create a spritzy mess. BUT, the product itself is lovely and I will happily use it up. Holy Grail Sunscreen!
IMAGE SKINCARE - PREVENTION+ Daily Ultimate Protection Moisturizer SPF 50 So let’s get this out of the way...yes, $40 is a lot to pay for sunscreen. However, I hate to say it, but this product is SO worth the money. I don’t know what kind of black magic it is, but this product makes me look prettier as soon as I put it on. It has a beautiful texture, and gives the skin a gorgeous glow without being sticky or oily. It smooths out my skin so nicely that I often don’t feel the need for tinted moisturizer or BB cream. After having tried this, I could never go back to a different morning moisturizer or sunscreen. You know it’s good when my father, who has hated moisturizer his whole life, actually loves this product and asked me to buy him some. In his words, it’s not “icky like all those other creams.” That’s a wholehearted endorsement coming from a very harsh critic! I found this product through Heyday, and continue to stock up on their website. I’ve loved pretty much every product I’ve gotten from them.
