My love letter to the I’m From Rice Toner 🍚
My love letter to the I’m From Rice Toner 🍚
This is my absolute favourite toner for the morning. I apply this with my hands right after a gentle cleanser and before my vitamin C serum. Not only does it provide hydration, but my skin feels plumper and looks brighter the more that I use this toner. Now, I will say that this toner if quite different than the one I use at nighttime to help target my texture and keep my acne at bay. I don’t necessarily think I need this hydrating / brightening toner, but man, I just love it and I love how my skin feels after using this consistently. If you do have dry or very dull skin or skin with pesky acne scars, I do think this could be a great product for you. The good: + Although this has a very watery texture, this locks in moisture to the skin! If I’m having a particularly dull skin day, I’ll add a couple layers of this and my skin will feel extra hydrated. + Makes skin feel so plump and smooth. + Skin is slowly looking brighter and I’ve noticed this in combination with my vitamin C have really helped fade my acne scars. + Key ingredients include: rice extract (mild exfoliation and brightening) and niacinimide (minimizes pore appearance, improves skin tone and balances oils). + Large bottle (150ml) for around $30 and it will last you quite a long time. I’ve used mine for over two months now and I’m not even half way done. + No fragrance, essential oils or alcohol. And it’s cruelty free. The not so good: - uhhhhhhhhhhh the fact that it will one day be empty. - My usual complaint that I will need to order this online and it will take 2-3 weeks to get to Canada depending on where they ship it from. Worth it? Yes! It might seem a lot for a toner but this is lasting me a long time and I’m love the effects. Will I repurchase? Yes! Ps I have combo, acne prone skin :)

Rice Toner

Pores: reduced. Skin: brighter. Wallet: happy.
Pores: reduced. Skin: brighter. Wallet: happy.
This toner makes me so happy. I’ve actually really enjoyed all my Good Molecules products so far because they are affordable and effective. This toner is no different and it’s provided such a big difference in the appearance of my pores. I’ve incorporated this into my evening routine and I’m quite happy with the results. And the price. Texture note: This feels a bit thicker and more viscous than a normal toner, which feels thinner and more liquid-y. It has a feeling that is in between a serum / essence and a toner. The good: + This almost instantly had an effect on the appearance of my pores. My skin just seemed smoother overall. + It absorbs nicely and quickly into the skin. + It’s not irritating at all. I’m definitely able to use every night if I want to. + My skin tone just overall looks a lot nicer and more even since I started to use this. + It’s almost easier to handle since it’s a slightly thicker liquid. There’s just less chance of it spilling out of your hands or dripping everywhere. + I love seeing Niacinamide quoted as a main ingredient and then it actually being in the top three ingredients on the list! + Key ingredients include Niacinamide (brightens, improves skin tone and controls pores), Arbutin (reduces hyperpigmentation), Licorice root (reduce hyperpigmentation) and vitamin c (an antioxidant that brightens). + Its $14-18 depending on where you live, which is aligned with most drugstore prices for a toner! And you get 120ml of product. The not so good: - The fact it takes about a month to deliver to 🇨🇦 Worth it? Definitely. Will I repurchase? Yes. I might even skip replacing my Then I Met You toner and stick with this one 🙊 Ps I have combo, acne-prone skin. Pps pores are fine and normal. And they won’t fully ever go away. Plus no one will see unless they look really really closely, so try not to worry too much :)

My most re-purchased Ordinary products
My most re-purchased Ordinary products
Okay so, I have tried 21 products from The Ordinary so far over three-ish years. It might not seem like too many, but man to my skin it feels like a lot of trial and error. But I wanted to go back and narrow down my collection to my most repurchased Ordinary products. These are the ones that work best for my combo / acne prone skin and keep me coming back for more! And of course, as you know, they are all very affordable. The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution I absolutely love this toner / chemical exfoliator. I use it 1 time a week during my evening routine and wouldn’t use it more than that because it can be a bit sensitizing. But every time I use this toner, the next morning my texture and pores are visibly reduced and my skin looks smooth and glow-y. You get quite a good amount of product and it typically lasts me at least 4 months. The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque I like this mask a lot! It’s great for taking on oil skin or the occasional pimple. The salicylic acid and charcoal make this feel very cleansing and satisfying. I do prefer this to the salicylic acid serum because I have found that to be a bit too drying if I leave it on the skin. I mentioned in another review that this product didn’t help me get rid of all my acne, but it definitely helped. I use this once every 1-2 weeks or whenever my skin needs a little detox. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I love this serum in the winter. I don’t often get dry spots, but if I see that my skin if feeling a little dry in any area, I’ll just pat a bit of this on under my moisturizer and then I’m good to go. Sometimes I use this on my legs if they are especially dry. I also really like how the ordinary has started to sell bigger bottles of some key products. As a consistent user, I like the bigger bottle because it leads to less waste. The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' I’m a big fan of Buffet. I use this probably 2x a week, or sometimes more if I want to give my skin a break from actives and just want to make my skin feel extra plump. The formula is very hydrating and although I have my doubts about products that claim anti-wrinkle benefits, I do think my skin looks smoother after using it. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This is kind of a cheat... because I repurchased this is after my first one fell and smashed on the bathroom floor. 🙃 BUT I am happy I repurchased it because when I do use this my skin looks so so good the next morning. Particularly my skin tone and pores look much better the next day. I use this probably more like 1x every two weeks because I swear no matter how little product I apply it does sting a little. And that’s probably not good... but I’ll justify it with glowy skin. And shout out to my trusty The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% that is also amazing but missing from the pic! 🥰

Charlotte Tilbury - Hollywood Flawless Filter I can’t live without this! When I pucked up Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter, I was expecting more of a shinnery highlight. To my surprise, it looked more like a glowy foundation. Yet on the skin, it looks more stunning than I ever thought! It has a glowy, natural finish. Unlike most highlighters that are purely glowy, this one has some slight coverage, making it blend seamlessly with foundation. I love how this layers on top of my foundation! It just looks like a natural everyday glow!I can’t live without this because it brings any makeup look a step up with a glow from within look. I also enjoy layering highlighter on top of this if I want a more intense glow. This comes in a few shades but in my opinion they need more dark shades. At first, I got a shade too dark but when I switched I was really impressed with how it blended into my skin. I’m curious to know how a lighter shade would look if I applied it to the high points of my face. This is definitely a holy grail and I would recommend this to anyone! ✨✨

Right way to use ‘Niacinamide’
Right way to use ‘Niacinamide’
I have dry skin and acne marks left by adolescence, but the biggest skin problem is the pigmentation. So Brightening the skin tone and curing acne become two difficulties. Niacinamide has been used in many skin care products. Its biggest role is to reduce discoloration, and it can also help skin repair, anti-aging and oil control. However!!! Many people will give up products with Niacinamide after their first attempt. One of the reasons is that many people are allergic to this ingredient, resulting in red and itchy skin. Second, people who use this product must have excellent skin tolerability, that is to say, they should start using it at low concentration and not directly cover the whole face at the beginning. It need a relatively longer time compare to other skin care ingredient. I will introduce how I use products with Niacinamide ingredient. Taking an example product of Ordinary, the package of this product is labeled with Niacinamide(10% + 1% zinc). Just look at this ingredient, If you do a good job of sunscreen, it's no problem to brighten the skin tone in one month. However, before that, you need a 5-7-day trial period. The first three days, you have to experiment and apply it locally. For example, take a drop in your hand and ear. The next day on the chin or forehead. If there is no redness and discomfort, you can continue to use it. If it turns red, stop it. It means you are allergic to this ingredient. By the fourth day, you can start to gradually increase the dosage. In case of allergies, stop to use all cosmetics and skin care products. You must be patient when use this ingredient product. Increase the dosage bit by bit, otherwise the skin can't tolerate the stimulation of Niacinamide. I have used this product for more than half year. I liked applying on my face and neck. This can reduce the color difference! Try it if you can use regularly and preemptively. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

Which one should I get?
Which one should I get?
Hey y’all! Today I will be getting my first product from The Ordinary which I am SO excited about! But I don’t know which serum to get! Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% or Lactic Acid 5% + HA? ✨my skin is oily in my t zone and dry on my cheeks. it is slightly sensitive to physical exfoliation as well. i have some breakouts, texture, and blackheads. i also use amzeeq and tretinoin ✨the niacinamide would help with oil control, my congested pores, and my acne prone skin. i would use this in the morning, but i don’t know if i can use it at night because i don’t know how it would react to my tretinoin ✨the lactic acid would help with the texture on my face, hydrate my skin, and would exfoliate the dead skin cells. i would use this 2-3x a week at night, but i still don’t know how it would react with my tretinoin:( let me know your thoughts down below!! i would LOVE to hear them!!💓💓
