NEW FIND! And I’m pleasantly surprised!?
emilyroberts
It was time to get a new moisturizer.
I was currently using the HONEST - Hydrogel Cream
Jan. 9
Product Mentioned
Tretinoin and Spironolactone Progress July-Dec
I’m back! And wow what a difference! I’ve since switched upped my dosage to Apostrophe 0.05% tret with 4% Niacinimide cream forumula beginning in November. I’m also taking 50 mg of Spirinolactone now.
My face has definitively gotten a lot drier, with some mild peeling throughout the day (any tips are welcome!)
I’m going to see how waiting 15 mins before apply tret after moisturizer and 15 minutes after tret will work
Overall, I feel like my forehead has a smoother texture, and I’m seeing less breakouts. I now definitely want to start working on reducing the appearance of my acne scars, but with my face so dry right now, I’m not sure if that’s an option.
I’m going to wait a while and talk to my derm about adding in any actives.
Also very sad about the Purito sunscreen scandal :-(
Here’s my routine below:
Morning (focus on hydration and barrier)
CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser
dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner
COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum
HONEST - Hydrogel Cream
BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum
BRUJITA - Vegan Crema
Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50
Night (applying tret nightly-wondering whether to reduce to every other day )
DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil
HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser (or COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser )
dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner
COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
HONEST - Hydrogel Cream
Then putting BRUJITA - Vegan Crema on my driest areas
Apostrophe Cream
BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum
BRUJITA - Vegan Crema

Sleeping Beauty!
Hey y’all!
After double cleansing each night and toning with rose water I alternate between the:
BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum
and
insta natural - Retinol Serum
THEN apply my moisturizer:
HONEST - Hydrogel Cream
Great combination! Honest and insta natural are more budget friendly skincare. The Biossance is pricier. I like to find a good balance in my budget for skincare!

3 Paula Choice Skincare Routines ❄️☃️❄️
Hey guys!!! I love Paulas choice products especially the PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer and PAULA'S CHOICE - 0.3% Retinol + 2% Bakuchiol Treatment !! Over on their IG they posted suggested skincare routines created by their client social services consultant Allie, I wanted to repost a few today for dry and dehydrated combo skin since it's cold outside which can often lead to dry/dehydrated skin. Paulas choice is another great brand to reach out to if you have questions!!! Just pick the products in black for an essential routine and include the products labeled in white for a full advanced routine. I do want to point out that there is NO perfect skincare routine, you need to listen to your skin. If you are feeling really dry you might want to add a heavier ceramide moisturizer or if your skin is starting to feel irritated back off on your exfoliation. Use these suggestions as a way to get started but still adjust or take away products by how your skin feels.
Do you wish more companies would post suggested skincare routines based on skin type??

How I Have Been Treating My Maskne😷😷😷
These are the top tips that I have been using to treat my Maskne!!
Avoiding makeup has been hard but when I wear makeup under my mask my skin breaks out. I have been trying to just use tinted sunscreen and that doesn't seem to break me out.
I have multiple masks now and wear a clean mask everyday. I change it like I change my underwear lol. I'm so thankful at work we now get a new disposable mask every shift. All my masks are Cotten because Cotten is breathable and I only wash them in Dreft newborn 👶🏽 detergent which is fragerance free and gentle. I still buy it to wash my daughters clothes.
Keeping consistent with my morning and evening skincare routine has kept the Maskne at bay. Double cleansing and keeping my skin moisturized to strengthen my skin barrier has reduced the Maskne. The stronger my skin barrier the less likely my skin will get irritated.
My Fav Moisturizing Products:
😷FARMACY - Honey Halo Ultra-hydrating Ceramide Moisturizer
😷FARMACY - Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask
😷PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer
😷Krave - Great Barrier Relief
Hope these tips help 😷😷❤️❤️

My new FAVE! Rosehip oil 💐
I’ve started adding rosehip oil to my routine, both morning and evening. And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. ❤️
Rosehip is the part of the rose after the petals fall off, so essentially the fruit and seeds of the rose plant. So it’s different from rose essential oil. (Which is also great and I use in my morning routine.)
Rosehip oil has been part of natural beauty routines since the ancient times! It’s full of fatty acids and phenols and has been shown in studies to have antibacterial, anti fungal and anti viral properties. (Although the potency is still being researched.)
RADHA BEAUTY - Rosehip Oil
So what’s so great about rosehip oil and why is it soooo good as a beauty oil?
◾️HYDRATIONNNNN BABYYY!!!
Rosehip oil is super lightweight and will be absorbed into your skin really quickly. It contains linoleic and linolenic acid to help retain water in the skin because these fatty acids will strengthen the cel membranes so water can’t pass through. (Remember oil and water dont mix so the fatty acids act like a barrier to keep the water inside the cells.)
◾️MOISTURIZER HEAVEN!!!
There was a study back in 2015 that showed that people who took rosehip powder orally had noticeable improvements to their skin’s moisture.
◾️NATURAL EXFOLIATOR!!!
Rosehip oil is high in Viramin A and C. Vitamin A (aka retinol) encourages skin cell turnover - or the removal of dead skin cells on the topmost layer and showing live healthy cells in the layers below. Vitamin C helps cells regenerate.
◾️COLLAGEN BOOSTER!!!
Vitamins A and C also help boost collagen production - so fewer wrinkles. Some studies have shown that rosehip oil inhibits the MMP-1 enzyme, which breaks down collagen. So fewer wrinkles.
◾️REDUCES INFLAMMATION!!!
Rosehip is rich in both polyphenols and anthocyanin, which may help reduce inflammation. It also contains vitamin E, an antioxidant known for its anti-inflammatory effects.
◾️HELPS REDUCE SUN DAMAGE!!!
Rosehip oil contains antioxidants like vitamins A, C, and E. These vitamins have been shown to synergistically combat visible sun damage. They may also help prevent photoaging.
◾️FIGHTS HYPERPIGMENTATION!!!
Vitamin A helps reduce hyperpigmentation with regular use. Rosehip oil also contains both lycopene and beta carotene. These ingredients are said to have skin-lightening properties, making them staple ingredients in many skin-lightening products.
All in all, I love how versatile this oil is. I can mix it with my other oils like the ones from Farsali.
In the morning, I put 6 drops in my hand and apply it to my face first. Then I layer my regular moisturizers and go through my makeup routine. At night, after I remove my makeup and wash my face, I again put 6 drops on my hand and apply to my face. Then I can layer other oils and moisturizers, depending on what my skin needs.
You can also use the Gua Sha once you apply the rosehip oil to further help reduce inflammation and promote drainage.
Let me know what you guys think of rosehip oil below!! 👇🏽

Swipe to see what my skin looks like today 🥴
The first picture you see was my skin just a few days ago... the second one is today..
This is just to show that we are all human and it’s okay to have a bad day!!!!
We all go through it, every single human on the universe. Be easy on yourself. You’re still beautiful. A pimple should not make or break your day. EVERY PERSON GOES THROUGH IT!!!! Please, do not beat yourself up.
I used to fixate on every single pic mole, blackhead, and pore that was in my face. If I was going through a breakout, I would stare in the mirror a million times throughout the day and just tear myself down, staring at myself.
Now, if I have a pimple here and there, I look in the mirror ONLY because I have to.. not because of acne and that helped the insecurity TREMENDOUSLY and now I could give two sh***. I just give myself a little more love and wait for it to blow over, and heal.
I hope this helps you, if you’re going through it right now.

Good for keratosis pilaris but not FA
Avène - Akérat Smoothing Exfoliating Cream
I have been using this for keratosis pilaris which mainly makes the back of my arms very bumpy.
It has some good ingredients such as:
- Urea
- Salicylic Acid
- Vitamin E
- Lactic Acid
But it also has fungal acne triggers:
- Mineral Oil
- Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate
- PEG 20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate
- Sweet Almond Oil
Even though it has many good ingredients which helped my keratosis pilaris it never made it manageable and smooth.
Now my arms are the smoothest they have ever been and I use The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA and timeless SKIN CARE - Squalane Oil 100% Pure which my last post is about! Both of these products are fungal acne safe!

My new fave (Fungal Acne safe!)
The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA
This has no fungal acne triggers 🎉
Helps to exfoliate skin !
I have been using this mainly on the back of my arms because I have keratosis pilaris there and my arms have never been smoother 🤩
Also good for any other breakouts and can be used on body and face !
Sometimes after I shower I will use this lactic acid and other days I will use timeless SKIN CARE - Squalane Oil 100% Pure for moisturizer, which is also fungal acne safe!
My keratosis pilaris is barely noticeable now and my arms have never been so smooth before 💃🏽

For Facial Oil Lovers: Timeless Squalane Oil 💧
A few months ago, I started learning about the benefits of facial oils and how even oily/acne prone skin can benefit (look up Liah Yoo’s videos on this topic if you want more information). I also learned about the benefits of Squalane, which is supposed to be safe for all skin types.
A note about Squalane: I read reviews from people online saying that they experienced some irritation from the Ordinary’s and the Inkey List’s Squalane, which are both derived from olives + a mixture of other undisclosed plants, so I wanted to find a Squalane oil that was 100% derived from olives or sugarcane. In the end I was debating between Biossance’s (derived from sugarcane) and Timeless’ (derived from olives), but the Biossance one was out of stock and also way more expensive—so I went with Timeless 😅
timeless SKIN CARE - Squalane Oil 100% Pure
Texture - this product, despite being an oil, is so lightweight. I know Squalane in general is a lighter, drier oil, but I didn’t expect that the texture would be so watery and light. The texture is just a tad thicker than water.
Scent - this product is scentless and doesn’t have any synthetic fragrance
Application - it comes in a frosted glass bottle with dropper
Results - this is where my conflicted opinions come in...at first, I really liked this product! It didn’t make my face feel greasy, nor did it feel heavy. At the time, I was using the Cerave Moisturizing Cream and I would mix 2 drops of squalane into it nightly. However, I got sucked into watching too many product reviews on Youtube and decided to switch from the Cerave to the FAB Ultra Repair Cream because I wanted to try something new/fancier 😂 I was still using Squalane the same way (mixed into my moisturizer at night), and I noticed that I started breaking out in little bumps on my face. I switched back to the Cerave Moisturizing Cream and have been since doing a very minimal, stripped down routine—so I have not been using the Squalane oil and will not be until my acne calms down.
Overall thoughts - Despite this, I still am rating this product 5 stars because:
1. It mixes like a dream with a lighter moisturizer like the Krave Beauty Oat So Simple Water Cream. I have written another review on this moisturizer and concluded that it was not occlusive enough for my face (even with the Squalane oil), but I like to apply it on my neck and décolletage mixed with Squalane in the PM. So for me, the FAB Ultra Repair Cream was probably too heavy to be mixing with the squalane.
2. If I’m being honest, I don’t think my skin, which is combo but still on the oily side, needs a facial oil. However, my boyfriend who has super dry skin mixes this squalane oil with his moisturizer every night and his skin loves it. So I’d say it depends on your skin type!
This is a very affordable (~$10) squalane and I think people with dry skin or people who know and love facial oils might really enjoy this product!
timeless SKIN CARE-Squalane Oil 100% Pure
Snail secretion?! Yes.
COSRX - Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream After being told by my dermatologist that I have a minor form of dermatitis on my face (just dry small dry/flakey patches) and I also have oily areas so I actually have combination skin, I searched for something that would feel good on my face, work with my skin, and mix with make up if I decided to wear any! The face lotion samples they gave me at the office just didn’t cut it surprisingly.
A girl at Ulta suggested this stuff and I was like “wtf snail goo” but she insisted. I decided to give it a try and I absolutely love it, even the texture! I sometimes mix a couple drops of a facial serum sometimes to give it a little extra whatever, but it works really well on its own.
The dry flakey patches on my face are on each side of my chin, just below my lips and Sometimes they’d be red. With this stuff, my face stays hydrated all day, I might have to reapply a tiny bit of it’s really cold out or hot and sweaty but that’s really it.
I also don’t break out from it, it doesn’t have a strong odor, and it soaks into your skin for a smooth finish. You don’t need a whole lot, maybe a quarter size at most, so it lasts for a good while without having to buy more every month.
I’ve been using this stuff for at least a year or a little more now, and I don’t plan on switching it out for something else!
COSRX-Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream
Incredible
This moisturiser is a one of a kind product- something that can soothe and hydrate, as well as completely clear pigmentation.
With 15% stabilised Vitamin C, this product targets pigmentation in the skin through reduction of tyrosinase, the enzyme that forms excess melanin. I’m one of those people who suffers from long term pigmentation after a pimple has been. Within four weeks of using this product I noticed my pigmentation was fading slightly, and after 8 weeks, my skin was almost completely clear.
Usually products with high levels of Vitamin C can be very drying on the skin (think Summer Friday CCMe) but with ingredients like Shea butter, Arnicq, and Jojoba oil, this moisturiser keeps the skin dewy and radiant.
It does have a pretty steep price tag on it, but comes in a smaller 30ml size if you’re unsure and wanting to test it. This is not a product you’re going to notice overnight results with, as goes with most ingredients, but after a few weeks results will be visible.

My favorite cream for redness & irritation
dear, klairs - Midnight Blue Calming Cream
Product Function: The Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream is marketed as a cream for soothing redness, irritation, and sensitivity. They recommend using this all over the face or as a targeted spot treatment for irritated areas.
Product Target Concerns: This product claims to help target oily, acne-prone and sensitive skin to soothe redness and reduce sensitivity from sun exposure.
Texture/Consistency: a thick, occlusive cream. Absorbs into the skin after 20 or so minutes, but it’s rather rich.
Overall Thoughts & Experience: This has been in my stash for the past 6 months ever since I got gifted this product from Sophie’s Beauty Box and it’s been a staple ever since. When I went through severe contact dermatitis irritation, this cream helped speed up the recovery process of my skin, which is one of the many reasons why I love this product and always have it in my collection. I love the ingredients list, which features a ton of your typical hydrating ingredients along especially calming ones like guaiazulene and centella asiatica. Perfect for my skin type and for moments when I’m dealing with irritation.
Would I recommend? Absolutely. I plan on repurchasing this once it’s out because the price is reasonable ($24.50/30ml) for the quality, formulation and efficacy of the product. Fully worth it in my opinion and I hope you consider trying this!

AM Routine - Dry skin, pores and acne scars
1. PAULA'S CHOICE - RESIST Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser obsessed with this cleanser
2. BIOLOGIQUE RECHERCHE - Lotion P50 I have read a lot about the magic of this product, I think it works well but haven’t seen the amazing results people describe. Smell is strong but you get used to it
3. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster just started this AM/PM but like it so far, some acne scars have lessened
4. CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Radiance Serum The Brightening Solution don’t see any changes with incorporating the product, but the smell is fresh and the consistency is light
5. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster this is really helping clear my skin
6. Avène - Skin Recovery Cream I’ve tried thousands of moisturizers and this is my favorite. It goes on super light, soaks in quickly and has no smell. Highly recommend
7. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios 60 Face Sunscreen for Combination Skin SPF 60 usually sunscreens break me out but this one has been relatively innocuous. It also sets in rather quickly. Can sometimes leave a white-ish residue so need to blend in well

PM Routine for Dry Sensitive Skin 🌙🌵
This is my boyfriend’s PM skincare routine (created by me! 😁). Before we met 3 years ago, he never moisturized or used sunscreen, and washed his face with body wash. 😱 As you can imagine, his skin used to be hella dry and dehydrated, and his skin barrier was damaged.
He has very dry, sensitive skin, isn’t acne-prone, and likes simple and quick routines so that he doesn’t have to spend too much time getting ready.
🌙 PM Routine
1. BANILA CO - Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original
This is a simple and affordable cleansing balm that he uses to remove sunscreen at the end of the day. It doesn’t irritate his eyes or leave an oily film behind.
2. ETUDE - Soon Jung, pH 6.5 Whip Cleanser
He’s tried other simple cleansers such as the Cetaphil face wash and the Innisfree Blueberry Cleanser, and all of them have made his face feel tight and dry. This product does not, it is a gentle foaming cleanser that doesn’t make his skin feel stripped.
3. THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum
He uses this product on a damp face to hydrate his skin. My skin is sensitive to hylauronic acid, but my boyfriend doesn’t have any issues with HA serums.
4. ETUDE - Soon Jung, 2x Barrier Intensive Cream
This moisturizer has skin repairing ingredients like Madecassoside and is great for his dry skin. It’s a little too occlusive/greasy on me, but his skin absorbs it well.
5. timeless SKIN CARE - Squalane Oil 100% Pure
His skin is so dry that moisturizer alone is often not occlusive enough to last throughout the night. To supplement, he pats a few drops of squalane oil into his face as the last step of his routine. He reports that when he uses squalane oil, his face doesn’t feel tight and dry when he wakes up the next morning.
Hope this helps those of you with a similar skin type as his! 😊 His AM routine is also posted on my page!
