centella asciatica + spironolactone = 🥰

it’s been a minute! here’s an update on my skin, picture on the left was taken during my peak worst skin of 2020 (June) and now (December). Between now and then, it’s been mainly credited to patience, attempting to pick my skin less, simplifying my routine, and a few amazing products that my skin just seems to really agree with. here’s my routine: Morning/Day: Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser
This amazing aloe / glycerine/ squalane moisturizer that I get from a local aesthetician. Linking here! It is SO light and doesn’t clog skin but moisturizers super well. I go thru this like crazy. 10/10 https://www.smartcosmeticstudio.com/shop/exzit-moisture TULA SKINCARE - Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm
MARIO BADESCU - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater
Night: Same routine but adding: COSRX - Centella Blemish Cream
I literally would be LOST without this product. I use it over moisturizer- it’s pretty thick and probably should be used as a spot treatment, but I cover my face lightly in it. I found it’s been amazing for acne scars, healing, lightening, and soothing redness. Nexcare - Nexcare Acne Blemish Cover
Amazing and so cheap on amazon Or... PanOxyl - PM Overnight Spot Patches
love these but a little more expensive. I have that on in my picture on the right! I’m also on 100mg/ day of Spironolactone for about 6mo as prescribed by my Dermatologist. I recommend this as an alternative if no over the counter products are helping, it took a while to start working but saves me from the horrible and painful under skin pimples which would probably be convering my face if I weren’t taking this! 🤍

Laneige and Cosrx K-Brand Review
Finally used all these products for long enough to be able to give you guys my opinion on them! I ordered all of these from Nudie Glow- a Korean skincare site based in Australia! I bought the COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence to help repair my skin barrier after burning my face with BENZAC - Moderate Strength 5% Acne Gel 🙃 and it soothed and calmed my skin within 2 days (I’ll do a post on saving my barrier soon). It’s consistency is sticky and goopy, pretty much exactly as you’d expect from snail mucin, but it dries down well and quickly. It’s fragrance free & the quantity of product is great. I used it in place of hyaluronic acid for a few weeks & did find that it wasn’t quite enough hydration, but teamed with HA it’s super plumping & sits under other products (and makeup) really well. The LANEIGE - Cream Skin Refiner I bought to replace my LANEIGE - Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer . They seem to be the exact same product, all I could find online is that the Refiner is meant to be even more hydrating than the toner. I haven’t noticed too much of a difference between the two but my skin is still responding really well to this. I don’t use a cotton pad but just tap it directly onto my skin, it sinks in super fast and I’ve not had a single dry patch since using this. A repeat purchase for sure. I was a little disappointed by theCOSRX - Centella Blemish Cream . It smells amazing (kinda earthy/fresh) and I bought it to also help soothe my barrier repair, which it did do but in terms of reducing redness in blemishes it seems to have no effect. It’s a super thick, opaque cream that you’re meant to spot treat with but as I was finding it’s soothing properties the most effective I just apply a thin layer all over my cheeks before bed. It definitely can’t be worn in the day due to the heavy white cast it leaves. Finally the COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch have been really fun to use. I bought one sheet for $7AUD (but recently purchased another sheet on Amazon for $4AUD). It comes with a range of sizes, they’re all translucent circles. I would say they blend in quite well on fair skin, I even wore one to work once although someone did notice it eventually. They’re hydrocolloid patches meant to draw out impurities & offer a more hygienic alternative to popping pimples. They turn white over time on your skin which is the sign to take it off, but I did find that the patch would go white before having pulled anything out which did mean I wasted a couple thinking it was done. They are good at pulling white heads to the surface & keeping the spot protected from popping urges. They stay stuck on really well & have helped reduce scarring- although that could just be from preventing me from popping them, if you struggle with that I would highly recommend these! Let me know if you want more details! ✨
I’m in love 💞
My skin is naturally on the drier, more sensitive side, especially in colder weather. Because of this, I’m always on the look out for a great moisturizing cream and I think I’ve found the one 😍 COSRX - Centella Blemish Cream This cream is amazing! All my dry, red, or irritated skin was so soothed after application. I can even use it under makeup. I don’t apply the cream to my whole face, just trouble areas. You only need a small amount because the texture is so rich and careful not to overdo it because there is a slight white cast if you apply too much. Definitely recommend for all my dry skin friends!
Brightening or whitening ?
So I’ve been sampling the TULA SKINCARE - Cooling & Brightening Eye Balm and I must say - I kinda hate it. First off - unlike Any other eye cream that I’ve used this one is in the form of a stick which does create some pulling near the under eye area. This is already a sensitive and highly tearable area so I didn’t like the fact that the stick wasn’t an easy glide on. Additionally after I applied it to my under eye, it left a weird silvery white shimmer on my under eyes - People even asked me if I accidentally applied white eyeshadow near my eye bags to conceal them. How embarrassing! Another aspect that I kind of liked but didn’t fully like about it is that it did leave the cooling feeling. But the cooling feeling felt more like a burning sensation or if you put a eucalyptus peal on your body - it kind of leaves that sort of sensation. Not that I liked it but I didn’t hate it but I also wouldn’t recommend it if you have sensitive skin or eyes that tear up easily. All in all what I say that this product is worth $18? Absolutely not. But of course just like everyone else I fell into the hype and was influenced to try it. What a mistake I made. Next time I will stick to the purifying cleanser and completely avoid the eye products. But this is just from my point of view. If you check it out would have a different or similar opinion drop a comment below and let’s have a conversation about it. Looking forward to chatting with you all soon!

These guys
So, it’s been now over two weeks and these are the fab 5 that have helped my skin SO much from all my “facemask-acne”. Yes, it’s taken a little while, but I am happy that my breakouts are almost completely gone (except for a very stubborn one near my mouth). Please note: I do NOT recommend any of these products for anyone with sensitive skin, except for the face spray!! Ok, let’s go product by product now: NEOSTRATA - Foaming Glycolic Wash I LOVE this face wash! Everything from the super soft foam texture, the small amount you need, and the barely there scent is great about it. The 4 and not 5 stars?? If you overuse it (like I have 🤦🏻‍♀️) it’ll dry out your skin a bit. So, careful !! MARIO BADESCU - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater This little spray is everything to me. The main reason: it does NOT have any alcohol in it and therefore doesn’t dry my skin out. I like to use it as a “toner” in between my wash/treatments/moisturizer, but when I need a bit of hydration through the day, I just do a couple of sprays 😊 Kate Somerville - Liquid ExfoliKate Triple Acid Resurfacing Treatment Ok, first things first: the one thing I CANNOT stand about this product is the smell 😩😩😩 It’s super strong and definitely not pleasant. However, when it comes to its effectiveness, I must say it’s great. My skin does feel clean, like I’ve taken away a thin layer of extra whatever was there (sorry lol, it’s hard to explain). It burns a bit on my breakouts, but it has helped reduce them too. Once again, another product NOT to be overdone, it’s a strong formula that contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid, which can be damaging to the skin when not used properly. PLEASE use at night only, and REMEMBER to use SPF during the day as well as minimum sun exposure for the sake of your skin staying healthy and getting the most benefit out of AHA’s!! NEOSTRATA - Acne Clarifying Solution This solution right here is bomb! Yes, I said it. Has to be the best acne solution I’ve ever used. It does work great for my skin. I only dab a saturated cotton pad where I need it (breakouts mostly and oily parts of my face). It burns my breakouts, yes, I literally DO feel the burn lol, which it also means it’s working, right? 🤔 It’s also helped with my redness and the breakout bumps minimize noticeably! And last, but not least MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion Yes, another cult fave that I HAD to try myself lol. I think it’s effective and it does a good work by drying out breakouts (or anything that’s a pustule or such). My only complaint is that it takes a while to see the results. Maybe I was expecting it to be one of those “overnight miracle” products, but it just isn’t. It’s also recommended to be applied and left overnight, which I did, but in the morning my ugly little bumps were still there, just in the slow process of going away...
My face after a bit over a week
So, this is what I’m looking like after using all of these products RELIGIOUSLY, DAY and NIGHT (as per their own directions respectively). I honestly don’t know what else to do. My horrid facemask-breakouts have definitely improved, yes, but after a bit over a week I would expect them to be completely gone! Sadly, there’s still bits of them here and there, still visible AND some even painful 😥😪😭😩 Especially the one on the left side of my mouth keeps going and coming back. Some of the products I feel have helped me, but I guess not all of them are as effective... drunk elephant review with fungal acne🐘💗
as someone with fungal acne, buying the same products can be reaaallyyy boring. so this is my review of drunk elephant as someone with fungal acne!! * disclaimer, NONE of these products are fungal acne safe!! use at your own risk * DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser this cleansing balm doesn’t really emulsify when you activate it with water, leaving a really oily feeling😕 and doesn’t remove all my makeup DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample this is a really nice gentle foaming cleanser... and thats pretty much it. DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum i love this serum! its a lovely gel serum that absorbs in quickly and is greak at oil control DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum this serum is a little tricky, i haven’t really noticed a difference in my skin in terms if brightness, i do have a bit of dark spots and they haven’t budged. not to mention this formulation is a rip off of the SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream this is a thicc moisturizer that surprisingly doesn’t leave my oily skin looking greasy af. its a good moisturizer for dry combo skin! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream this moisturizer feels exactly like the lala retro... its just 8 dollars more expensive DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask this mask burns so bad the first 20 seconds but then it settles down. i really havent seen a difference in my skin so DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil ive only used this oil a few times but wow it really makes your skin feel super soft and dewy DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lippe Balm DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lippe Balm i love this lip balm but its 16 dollars and the claim are completely false! in conclusion, i wont be repurchasing anymore of drunk elephant products because in reality they are just good products... nothing too special ESPECIALLY for the price. they aslo didn’t want to provide information about the percentage of black employees during the Pull Up Or Shut Up movement so yeah. their aesthetic is cute but ive grown out of this phase 😀 like and save!! xo melanie
Worth or Not? DE has given me the kissing lip💋💋💋
Autumn is coming these days as the climate gets dry. My lip is the first part of my body that reminds me of the season change as it gets dry, rough, chapped, and fine lines appear obvious. There is always dead skin on my lip, which annoys me.  In order to regain my moisturized and soft lip, I start to look for great lip treatment products. If you have seen my reviews before, you must have found that I’m a real Drunk Elephant fan so I noticed their Lippe Balm. I compared it with other lip treatment products and out of the brand loyalty and the cute package, I bought DE’s Lippe balm on Sephora for $18 DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lippe Balm It really surprised me. The texture is very nourishing and moisturizing. It contains avocado oil which is an excellent source of antioxidants, Vitamin A, D, and E. In addition, it has mongongo nut oil. The combination of the oils provides enough intense moisture and softens rough, chapped lips, helping to maintain lip skin’s healthy barrier function. The balm is free of fragrance. I use it in 2 ways, sheer lip balm/mask and lip primer. When I feel the lip very dry in the daytime, I will apply it to lips as needed. Before sleep, I will apply it heavily on my lips and it will promise a hydrated lip the next day. I also use it alone as a primer under lipsticks for a silky-smooth application. It always goes on smoothly and never gives me a feeling of uncomfortable oily. What’s more, the product intro tells that this balm could be used under or around our delicate eye area to hydrate and visibly smooth crow’s feet. It means you pay $18 for both a lip balm and eye cream. I have not tried it in my eye area but I’m planning to give it a try.  I think DE’s Lippe Balm is truly effective and really worth the price. I can’t recommend it more. Just give it a try!

New & Improved Skin Care Routine *Bliss Line*
New & Improved Skin Care Routine *Bliss Line*
I’m just starting to research my products and I was extremely unsatisfied with what I had found in my current products. I’ve heard really good things about this line. I was really attracted to the lack of fragrance and super stripping chemicals. To start off let me tell you about my skin. I have struggled with dry skin for most of my life and my t-zone and chin are not only my dryers areas but they are also where I get the most acne. Correct me if I’m wrong but it’s just the overproduction of oil since I’m so dry and as the weather gets colder/dryer it gets worse. I usually get a new pimple once every two-three days. Knowing this I was looking for cleansers and toners that would help me manage the breakouts and a serum and moisturizer that will help me keep my skin soft and hydrated. Here are the products I bought along with first impressions after my first use :) bliss - Clear Genius Clarifying Gel Cleanser - This cleanser feels really gentle on my skin but it also gets the job done. My skin felt refreshed and clean but not dry. I didn’t feel like I needed to get my moisturizer on quickly before my skin dried out which is usually a challenge. bliss - Clear Genius Clarifying Toner + Serum - Over all I really enjoyed this toner. I wasn’t expecting it to be a gel but it did feel very soothing on my skin. The directions recommend using a cotton pad to apply but did feel like I had to pump out a lot to cover my whole face. I also had a lot of product squirt out from under my cotton pad when I was using the pump so I’m not super thrilled with the design. bliss - Ex-Glow-Sion Moisturizer - This has been the best moisturizer I’ve tried and at an amazing price point as well. It goes on light but doesn’t leave my skin needing more. It’s been several hours now and my face still feel soft. Conclusions: Bliss says they can clear your skin in two weeks. I’m going to be updating you guys in a week to let you know what results I’m seeing. I’m also going to be purchasing the bliss - Clear Genius Clarifying Liquid Peel because exfoliation is a must for me. I’m really excited to see what happens!

All of these products have done wonders for my skin and they are non-toxic! Cleanse: The best cleanser I have ever used! I have pretty sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts and can dry out super easily. This cleanser is effective at removing dirt/makeup and does not dry my skin out (I always moisturize after) Brighten-up Sunshine: I have found this masque extremely useful during the pandemic. My chin was breaking out from wearing masks and when I started using this masque twice a week after washing my face with Cleanse the severity of my mask induced breakouts decreased dramatically. Treat: This is the best spot treatment I have ever used! It immediately dries out pimples and reduces redness. Glow Getter: This masque is amazing at evening my tone and texture of my skin. I have been using it once a week for the past four months and the texture of my skin has improved. Restore: I have been using restore everyday for almost a year and my redness has decreased dramatically. The overall appearance of my skin has improved since I began using these bioclarity products.

My Korean Skincare Routine for Acne!!
My Korean Skincare Routine for Acne!!
SATURDAY SKIN - RISE + SHINE Purifying Cleanser AROMATICA - Rose Absolute First Serum MIZON - Snail Recovery Gel Cream BANILA CO - Dear Hydration Toner I was on accutane for 4 months in 2019, and I thought I found the cure for my acne. Unfortunately, I started breaking out again in February of 2020. My breakouts went back and forth, but either way they left me with more PIE (Post Inflammatory Erythema aka those RED/PINK marks leftover from acne) My skin was also insanely dry and painful!! Any face wash I used just burned and irritated my skin even more! I didn’t have a consistent skincare routine, so I turned to peachandlily.com to look for a Korean skincare routine that’s also cruelty free. I think I found my new go to routine! It’s pretty simple, but after only 2 weeks I am satisfied with the products so far. Of course they don’t create miracles, but I don’t have any current breakouts (which I’m surprised my skin didn’t purge), my skin is MUCH more hydrated, and I feel as though my PIE looks slightly lighter! I started with the Saturday Skin Rise + Shine Purifying Cleanser, then use the Banila Co Dear Hydration toner to help with my acne, follow it with the Aromatica Rose Absolute First Serum, and finish it off with the Mizon Snail Recovery Gel! The Saturday Skin cleanser surprisingly leaves my skin moisturized! The Banila Co toner has peppermint extract to help calm acne. The Aromatica serum has niacinamide which is supposed to help calm acne and fade both PIE and hyperpigmentation. The Snail Recovery Gel has snail mucin to help calm acne and also moisturize with anti-aging effects! Overall I’m very satisfied with this new routine, and I will update in a month to see how my skin is doing!
