here are all of my 2020 empties!!! i went ahead and categorized them by brand so that i dont get things mixed up. etude house ——————— ETUDE - SoonJung pH6.5 Whip Cleanser
my favorite fungal acne safe cleanser!! its perfect for dry combo skin! ETUDE - Etude House SoonJung pH 5.5 Relief Toner
a great fungal acne safe hydrating toner! better for dry skin, it would sometimes leave me oily at the end of the day. drunk elephant ————————— DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum
although this serum isn’t fungal acne safe, my skin seems to enjoy it. it has a gel texture and actually regulates my oily forehead DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream
another non fungal acne safe products. BUT doesn’t cause me to have breakouts!! its a thicc cream but doesn’t leave me feeling oily!! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream Deluxe Sample
again... not fungal acne safe but STILL didn’t cause me to have any breakouts!! the protini feels similar in terms of thickness and the over all feeling on the skin but it feels more “ wearable “ first aid beauty ————————— FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Oil-Control Moisturizer
i was super excited to tey this out because the ingredients are fungal acne safe and the claims were ideal for my skin type but sadly i was disappointed 😞 it didn’t control my oil but rather left mw with this shine on my forehead! and it didn’t moisture my dry cheeks. epic fail FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Coconut Water Cream
this is a very basic fungal acne safe moisturizer i recommend to literally every one. i do like it and all but i find my skin still breaking out while i use this product. i would give it a 3 1/2 stars but i cant. CUROLOGY!!!! ———————— Curology - Curology formula
Curology - Curology formula
if you have fungal acne THIS is the treatment you NEED to try!!! my holy grail!! naturium ————— NATURIUM - Marine Hyaluronic Water Cream
NATURIUM - Marine Hyaluronic Water Cream
technically this moisturizer isn’t fungal acne safe because it contains polysorbate HOWEVER its one of the last ingredients listed so its not likely to have any affect. this is my FAVORITE MOISTURIZER!!! super affordable and feels luxurious and its amazing on my combo skin NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2%
my favorite fungal acne safe niacinamide serum!!! its affordable and it does exactly what it claims to do. literally cant get any better than this other lonely products ————————————- boscia - Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer
this is a fungal acne safe moisturizer however its not very good at moisturizing or controlling oil 😕 but the packaging is cute i guess

Products Getting Me Through Winter! ❄
Since I can remember I've had oily to combination skin, until this winter. It's been a rough one! My skin has been SO dry, and it's hard to keep up with it. Especially since I'm prone to acne and clogged pores, so I can't use a lot of heavy creams and pore clogging products. These I wouldn't be able to live without this winter! COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence 🐌 I love this essence! This is a Korean product (Korean skin care will always be a hit). And it's made with Snail Mucin, weird right? This contains 96% snail mucin, which has incredible healing and antimicrobial properties. It promotes collagen production and aids in skin regeneration. And it's a top pick for dry skin types because of its amazing ability to hydrate. This has a jelly-like texture and I find myself ALWAYS reaching for this. Most of the claimed benefits do come with time. Another product I'm loving is the DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum 💧This is a serum that came in a DE kit and I really want the full size! This seriously feels like a cold drink of water for your skin. It's lightweight and spreads nicely. It not only has Sodium Hyaluronate, (which is like hyarulonic Acid on steroids) but also Pineapple Ceramide and provitamin B5, an amazing humectant. As well as a lentil/apple/watermelon complex. It's not crazy different from other Hyarulonic Acid serums I've tried, but it's great! I finally got to try the cult favorite DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream . And wow I'm glad I did! This cream does have a few possible pore clogging ingredients so I was afraid to use it, but It's helped my dryness so much! It feels sooo moisturizing and soothing. I love that this is a protein moisturizer that has peptides, growth factors, amino acids, and pygmy waterlily to improve your overall skin health. This is an amazing anti-aging and skin strengthening moisturizer. I love using this it's a great experience. I already reviewed this incredible product, the Glossier. - Balm Dotcom 👄 It's become a staple lip balm for me. It's extremely hydrating and packed with antioxidants and natural emollients. It has Castor Oil, Beeswax, and Lanolin to seal in moisture. It leaves my lips looking sooo hydrated and smooth. It's THE perfect lip balm and I am obsessed. Feel free to comment or ask any questions below 💗

drunk elephant review with fungal acne🐘💗
as someone with fungal acne, buying the same products can be reaaallyyy boring. so this is my review of drunk elephant as someone with fungal acne!! * disclaimer, NONE of these products are fungal acne safe!! use at your own risk * DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser this cleansing balm doesn’t really emulsify when you activate it with water, leaving a really oily feeling😕 and doesn’t remove all my makeup DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample this is a really nice gentle foaming cleanser... and thats pretty much it. DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum i love this serum! its a lovely gel serum that absorbs in quickly and is greak at oil control DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum this serum is a little tricky, i haven’t really noticed a difference in my skin in terms if brightness, i do have a bit of dark spots and they haven’t budged. not to mention this formulation is a rip off of the SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C Serum DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream this is a thicc moisturizer that surprisingly doesn’t leave my oily skin looking greasy af. its a good moisturizer for dry combo skin! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream this moisturizer feels exactly like the lala retro... its just 8 dollars more expensive DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask this mask burns so bad the first 20 seconds but then it settles down. i really havent seen a difference in my skin so DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil ive only used this oil a few times but wow it really makes your skin feel super soft and dewy DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lippe Balm DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lippe Balm i love this lip balm but its 16 dollars and the claim are completely false! in conclusion, i wont be repurchasing anymore of drunk elephant products because in reality they are just good products... nothing too special ESPECIALLY for the price. they aslo didn’t want to provide information about the percentage of black employees during the Pull Up Or Shut Up movement so yeah. their aesthetic is cute but ive grown out of this phase 😀 like and save!! xo melanie

December challenge PT 1
Sorry I'm catching up on this one, I posted it a few days ago and it disappeared 🙁 so I'm redoing it now 😁 Here's my fave products broken down: Day 11 - SPF: I only have one face sunscreen, sun bum - Original 'Face 50' SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion but I'm looking into getting the Supergoop! - The Jet Set SPF Kitbc it includes an Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 401 oz and a Supergoop! - Play Everyday Lotion SPF 50 With Sunflower Extract1 oz - pretty good deal and only $28 (Sephora) Day 12 - moisturizer: it's a tie between Glossier. - Priming Moisturizer Rich Luxurious Face Cream and Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Cream for me; I love them both so much and swear by both. Day 13 & 14 - face oil and mask: to be honest, I don't have a favorite of either, since I don't really use face oils/never really looked into them, and most masks cause an allergic reaction or redness of some sort. Every mask I've used has bothered me by making me all red and causing some mild acne, but one hasn't done anything bad, and its the Glossier. - Moisturizing Moon Mask . It's not my favorite product but I give it credit for not causing any rxns, plus 4/5 stars bc it did moisturize pretty well. Day 15 - eye product: I like my Glossier. - Bubblewrap Eye + Lip Plumping Cream and Kiehl's - Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado(haven't used the Kiehl's one enough to rate) Day 16 - lip product: I love the L'ORÉAL - Colour Riche Lipcolour and have a bunch of them. I recently got a ARMANI beauty - Lip Maestro Midi Set (it's called mini set, there's a typo I guess) and these Armani lippies stay in place no matter what and are very pigmented too. Days 17-20 in my part 2 post! (most recent)

Pre-Workout VS Post-Workout Skincare Routine 💪
So recently I’ve started working out in the mornings before I sign on for work and it’s changed my LIFE. It’s also changed up the sequence of my morning routine. Here’s how it goes... ✨ PRE-WORKOUT ✨ Gotta get my night’s routine off my face and whatever else managed to get on my face through the night lol so I reach for my go-to: DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil Now this may be controversial so take everything I say with a grain of salt (I’ve not a professional lol!) but I don’t apply moisturizer... I just got straight to the sunscreen! Partly because I wear a mask while running out side, and the other part is due to me not wanting to waste product since I’ll be washing my face after my workout too. Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 100 This is not my favorite product tbh.... it stings my eyes while running and when I wash it off. But I’m using it for now until I run out. Anyone have a favorite sunscreen they’d like to share?!! ✨ POST WORKOUT ✨ I’m alllllll sweaty, so I go in with my favorite gentle cleanser! LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser Then spray my fave “toner” all over my face HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray Followed by my fave morning eye cream!!! This stuff literally makes my under eyes plum and pretty Glossier. - Bubblewrap Eye + Lip Plumping Cream And my holy grail moisturizer! COSRX - Hyaluronic Acid Intensive Cream

How my skin went from THIS to THIS in 3 MONTHS!
I‘ve struggled with cystic hormonal acne for years, but when I was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer, I didn’t imagine I’d experience the worst breakout of my 27 years of life... I was so overwhelmed and stressed, that I honestly forgot all about my skincare until it looked like this! And just like breast cancer, cystic acne hurts physically and mentally, but I had to regain control. I couldn’t control what was happening to me, but I could refocus, change my perspective, and restart my skincare routine 😅 Then I was gifted this medically personalized product to try and this is was my three month progress! 👏🏼✨ It’s different for everyone, but I noticed a difference in my skin after 4 weeks of consistent use. I’d say, it’s definitely worth a try, so I’ll leave a link to a 1-month trial for $4.95! http://curolo.gy/RebeccaSantos (No, I don’t get commission or any form of payment for this post or if you use my link.) My Skin Journey
My skin gotten worse over since the beginning of quarantine in March. I saw that I was getting a lot of pimples and a lot of dark spots on my face. I realized that what I used wasn’t working anymore and then tried several different products before I found the right one. I was first using Tea Tree Oil Face Wash for the Body Shop, but it wasn’t working anymore for my face. After the Body Shop, I used Differin Cleanser, then the Aztec Face Mask, then African Bar Soap. None of these worked for my face until I went back to Curology. I used Curology before, but stopped because my parents didn’t want to give me anymore money to buy it. But then around September, I started using it again. Curology works like wonders. If you are stuck and you don’t know what products to use on your face, I recommend trying out Curology. *If you have any questions, feel free to comment* (The before pictures were taken on September 6 and the now pictures were taken on December 30.) Curology - Curology formula DIFFERIN - Daily Deep Cleanser BPO 5% THE BODY SHOP - Tea Tree Oil Blemish Fade Night Lotion AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

These products improved my acne in 3 weeks
Since March 2020 I started breaking out really bad. It got even worse in September and I think it was due to over exfoliation and irritated skin. I started using these products below 3 weeks ago and as you can see from the pictures my acne has noticeably improved. Most of the acne has subsided. The acne on my temples are almost non existent and just some redness remains. Also the redness on my cheeks are fading and are smaller in size. Current routine: Toner: ETUDE - Etude House SoonJung pH 5.5 Relief Toner Serums: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Treatment: AZCLEAR - Medicated Lotion Creams: LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo (+) and ETUDE - SoonJung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream Retinol: DRUNK ELEPHANT - A-Passioni Retinol Cream Really happy with these products right now! I will continue using these products and might add Vitamin C as well. I will post another update in another 3 weeks, stay tuned 🙈

FULL Gentle Hydrating Skincare Routine
This has kind of been the theme of my entire Cherie page since its creation, but I’ve been needing to really hydrate my skin more since the weather’s become colder. Having rosacea means I always need to do extra research on the products I try. So after some experimenting, trying a LOT of new products, and deciding to stick to some old favorites, this is the routine I’ve come up with for myself: AM Routine Cleanser - The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm: A recent switch for the winter from Cosrx Good Morning Gel Cleanser. I’ve never used a balm before and I have to say, I really love it. My skin feels super hydrated after use and it does an excellent job of cleansing my face. Toner - FAB Wild Oat Ultra Hydrating Toner: Another recent switch. This toner is so hydrating that I don’t need to use hydrating masks or overnight creams as frequently as I used to and it’s super gentle. Serum - Peach & Lily’s Glass Skin Refining Serum: This is definitely worth the hype. My skin has been SO smooth since using it. Spot Treatment - TULA Go Away Acne: Uses benzoyl peroxide to work on acne with other great ingredients like tea tree oil and azelaic acid. This works fine, but I probably won’t repurchase. Eye Cream - Cetaphil Deep Hydration Refreshing Eye Serum: I said recently that eye cream doesn’t work for me, but I also discovered I’m starting to get wrinkles under my eyes and thought it was important to kick up the hydration and attention. This one is super gentle and affordable. Moisturizer - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion: Undefeated! If I need some extra hydration I’ll add a couple drops of Leo Oil and mix on my hand using my ring finger. Sunscreen - EltaMD SPF 46 on days with no makeup or ILIA Serum Skin Tint: Both are mineral sunscreens and unscented with protection in the 40s. PM Routine Cleanser - The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm Toner - FAB Wild Oat Ultra Hydrating Toner Serum - Paula’s Choice CALM 1% BHA Lotion Exfoliant or 10% Azelaic Acid Booster: I like to alternate between these two serums. The BHA (salicylic acid) targets pores and redness. The Azelaic Acid Boost contains salicylic acid too, but is more effective at targeting rosacea specifically. Eye Cream - Veriphy 20/20 Eye Cream: Received this as a gift and I actually really like it! Contains ingredients like phytoglycogen, peptides, niacinamide, and cucumber extract. But it’s wildly expensive and I won’t be able to repurchase. Moisturizer - CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion + Astrologiens Leo Oil: At night I always combine these two if I’m not using my Naturium Sleeping Cream (2 pumps + 2 drops). I have individual reviews on a number of these products, so if you’re interested in learning more about something feel free to check those posts out or just ask a question here :) All of these products are generally rosacea and sensitive skin safe. I have type 1 rosacea (erythematotelangiectatic rosacea) for reference.

Peach & Lily, you’ve won my 💖
Guys, I’m so excited about this line and brand!!! I’ve never tried Peach & Lily, but I have been dying to get my hands on it for months now. I finally went to Ulta a few days ago and picked up their mini set, for only $39 (adds up to about $65!) This is a Korean beauty skincare line, and it allegedly uses all natural ingredients that soothes the skin and hydrates. I have struggled to find products that moisturize my face well without breaking me out, or causing way more excess oil on my oily skin. Let’s get into my thoughts on each product!! In the morning I like to start out with the PEACH & LILY - Power Calm Hydrating Gel Cleanser and I gave it 5 stars because.... I’m in love. It smells AMAZING and feels so good on the skin. Also, a tiny pea sized amount is plenty for the entire face! It glides so easily and really gets my skin feeling fresh and clean. I like to double cleanse and start out with an oil cleanser and then follow up with this. Could not love this product more! The only downside is that it’s pretty pricey, at $28. Next I go in with the PEACH & LILY - Wild Dew Treatment Essence and to tell you the truth, I’ve never used an essence before this! I put about 3 drops on my hands and pat that onto my face. It soaks in very quickly and leaves a fresh feeling. It supposedly helps hydrate the skin and allow other product seep into the skin more easily. I gave this a 4 because it’s nice, but I don’t think it’s a holy grail product just yet. After the essence I go in with the very popular PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum that is BREAKING the internet! This serum is basically for hydrating the skin with HA and creates that “glass skin” look everyone is going for. I was very skeptical about this y’all. But I genuinely see a difference in my skin after using this serum!!! I am super impressed with it, and might purchase again! But, it could be just as good as any other good HA serum out there. Last but not least..... PEACH & LILY - Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream !!!! 5/5 stars for this beauty. I am in love with this moisturizer and see a difference in my skin after a week’s use. I love that it’s packed with antioxidants and matcha, and is a lightweight moisturizer! It’s the final touch to the glass skin line and I definitely see that my skin looks beautiful and dewy after using it. I will be repurchasing this and can’t wait to use it more! Thanks for reading! 💖

quarantine empties!
so as we all know..... we’re in a global pandemic. and while some people focused on loosing weight, learning a new skill, or maybe playing animal crossing, ive put my mind on using up some of the products ive had laying around for a bit. the first product i finished up was DRUNK ELEPHANT - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum i first used this serum on december 5th and would occasionally stop using it. but may 2nd would be the last she would pump her luxurious insides😪 next was DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream like b hydra i first used her on december 5th and her last few pumps were on may 2nd. i was kinda shocked to find out that id run out of this product on the same day as b hydra but i mean... oh well. then we have FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Oil-Control Moisturizer i first used this moisturizer on april 6th and her death date is undisclosed 😳 i really don’t remember when i finished her up but i can only assume it was around the beginning of june 🤷🏻‍♀️ idk sowy and finally.... the moisturizer that took me the longest to finish was boscia - Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer i had first gotten this moisturizer for my birthday but had started to use it on march 12th. and finally finished her last night soooo on august 19. throughout her time i had started to use other moisturizers like the fab ulta repar oil control. then i finished up the drunk elephant moisturizer, then back to the fab moisturizer then i bought the naturium moisturizer aaahhhhh so much shopping i know. but i recently has gone back to the boscia moisturizer to recover my skin from a fungal acne breakout but now that shes gone, FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Coconut Water Cream will take over her position 😀 like and save! xo melanie

update skincare routine for fungal acne!
yay updated skincare routine! these past few months i had been getting these crazy breakouts on my forehead, but after a switching some products, my skin has been thriving! cleanser although i love the CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser, i found that i would irritate my skin a bit and i decided to switch over to my favorite fa safe gentle cleanser ETUDE - SoonJung pH6.5 Whip Cleanser serums dont get me wrong, i absolutely LOVE the NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2%this was my second bottle of it but once i ran out i decided to finish up the PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serumso it wouldn’t be lying around in my skincare stash. but i still much prefer the naturium serum over peach and lily. essence i wanted to incorporate an exfoliating step in mu routine sence i had drop the SA cleanser. so i thought the ISNtree - Clear Skin 8% AHA Essencewould be a perfect fit in my routine. i use this serum every other day. treatment of course i have my holy grail Curology - Curology formulawith azelaic acid, clindamycin, and zinc pyrithione, this is the one product i will never get rid of moisturizer i think the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Coconut Water Creamis an all around good moisturizer. its fungal acne safe however it wasn’t moisturizing enough nor did it prevent breakouts. i was previously using the NATURIUM - Marine Hyaluronic Water Creambefore but had temporarily stopped using it. although its not fungal acne safe, this moisturizer hasn’t caused any breakouts and is just so luxurious. and cheaper 😳 masks ive had this DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Masksince last christmas, and since december is comming soon, i want to use this mask up as quickly as possible because baby this wasn’t cheap. i use this on the weekends in place of my exfoliating essence. oil / occlusive in my last routine i was using Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectanton my cheeks for the evening but switched to The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalaneoils because i felt that it absorbed nicely and didn’t leave my poor pillow so mf greasy sunscreen i love love love love the FACE HALO - MISSHA All-Around Safe Block Aqua Sun Gel SPF50+ PA++++but i wanted to try something new and something more accessible to me so i tried the Neutrogena - Sensitive Skin Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 50and aaahh its an ok sunscreen but not as good as the missha one micellar water i would always buy the GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Waterproof Makeup Remover( blue) and i love it its great but i wanted to switch it up and use the pink one. its ok but i think the blue one works better. comment which products you love for fungal acne!! like and share! xo melanie 💗

My skin is a mess 😭 HELP!
I look at the pictures above and I feel so bad about how I look... I believe I have combination sensitive skin... I also believe I was over exfoliating just a few weeks ago so I’m currently giving my skin a break from that... Products I just started using are: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser Love this cleanser! It is gentle yet effective on my combo skin FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Coconut Water Cream this moistures doesn’t clog my pores and I do love it but I gave it 4 stars because it isn’t always enough for my dry areas FIRST AID BEAUTY - Eye Duty Niacinamide Brightening Eye Cream I like the coverage but don’t really know if it helps with brightening or reducing my dark circles 100% pure - Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream not great at reducing dark circles but helps a little with puffiness The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I use this once a week now and it helps to reduce my dark marks Krave - Great Barrier Relief I want to like this but I think I have a reaction to nacinimide but I want to use it once a week after the exfoliant to see if it helps with my skin barrier Please if anyone has any recommendations especially for large pores, dark circles, and those annoying little bumps under my eyes let me know 👏🏻

May Coop - Raw Moisturizer
This is my absolute favorite moisturizer. I only realized in the back half of my 20s that I have very dry skin; which is not great for these cold Midwestern winters. However, I use this product year round. This moisturizer is just thick enough to lock in the good stuff but doesn’t feel like I’m wearing a face mask. The scent is super light and pleasant. The texture leaves my skin feeling smooth and it has never made me break out. I used DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream previously before switching to this (and I hesitate to go back as I have heard they changed the formula). If anyone else has used this product and has a good dupe (cuz $40 is expensive, y’all), please let me know!

Marine hyaluronic gel!?
I decided to try a bunch of products from this brand Naturium! This gel like cream really stood out to me. I suffer from really dry skin so this looked great. This cream reminds me a lot of Laneige water sleeping mask. The only thing is this gel moisturizer has no scent unlike the Laneige one which I really am grateful for. This moisturizer has marine-based polysaccharides, hyaluronic acid and phytonutrients to provide skin with a burst of long-lasting hydration. NATURIUM - Marine Hyaluronic Water Cream I’m going to give this a 4/5. Overall the cream is really nice and I like to use it during the day. I however feel like it doesn’t stand out to me compared to other moisturizers. It’s very simple and effective but I like more nourishing and creamy products to use at night (personal preference). I think this product would be really good for younger skin like in high school or early twenties due to its simplistic ingredients. However it doesn’t offer enough anti-aging benefits for me.

yay updated skincare routine! these past few months i had been getting these crazy breakouts on my forehead, but after a switching some products, my skin has been thriving! cleanser although i love the CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser, i found that i would irritate my skin a bit and i decided to switch over to my favorite fa safe gentle cleanser ETUDE - SoonJung pH6.5 Whip Cleanser serums dont get me wrong, i absolutely LOVE the NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2%this was my second bottle of it but once i ran out i decided to finish up the PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serumso it wouldn’t be lying around in my skincare stash. but i still much prefer the naturium serum over peach and lily. essence i wanted to incorporate an exfoliating step in mu routine sence i had drop the SA cleanser. so i thought the ISNtree - Clear Skin 8% AHA Essencewould be a perfect fit in my routine. i use this serum every other day. treatment of course i have my holy grail Curology - Curology formulawith azelaic acid, clindamycin, and zinc pyrithione, this is the one product i will never get rid of moisturizer i think the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Hello FAB Coconut Water Creamis an all around good moisturizer. its fungal acne safe however it wasn’t moisturizing enough nor did it prevent breakouts. i was previously using the NATURIUM - Marine Hyaluronic Water Creambefore but had temporarily stopped using it. although its not fungal acne safe, this moisturizer hasn’t caused any breakouts and is just so luxurious. and cheaper 😳 masks ive had this DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Acne Skin Duo
I have enjoyed using these over the past week. They have worked in tandem to overall improve the texture of my skin and are slowly ridding my skin of pesky acne. Glossier. - Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector I honestly thought this product would smell like straight up chemicals but was pleasantly surprised when it smelled similar to a witch hazel toner. The active ingredient in this is 0.5% salicylic acid. I have to admit I have not used a toner in quite some time, but the salicylic acid was what drew me to the product in the first place. I got five salicylic acid chemical peels done last year which improved my skin greatly, needless to say I have high hopes for this product. I like how simple the application process of using this process is and how well the pump works in the bottle. The only thing I really dislike about this product is that you need cotton rounds to use it properly. Glossier. - Priming Moisturizer Balance My face isn’t shiny! This mattifying primer does what it says it is supposed to. I have found when I use this in the morning it takes a lot longer for my face to become shiny and oily during the day. This product has no overpowering scents to bother sensitive skin. I dislike that I have to use two to three pumps to cover my face, especially since the bottle is so small. I say give the Refine duo from Glossier a try if you struggle with shiny combination skin and stubborn acne!

WORST SKINCARE OF 2020!
My last post was on my picks for the best 2020 skincare, but now we’re talking about the worst skincare products. Unfortunately there’s a lot of bad products out there, especially with skincare becoming a huge trend. Keep in mind these are my opinions and thoughts, and everyone’s skin is different. Cleanser: For cleaner I’ve chosen The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser which is $7.90 for 1 fl oz on Sephora. This cleanser is ok, and squalane is normally a great hydrating ingredient, but in my experience and through what many reviews say, this product does almost nothing for your skin, so I would pass on this one. Exfoliator: This exfoliator is the worst one ever! It has fragrance, is a walnut scrub, meaning the exfoliants are huge and pointy, and it doesn’t break down with water., making you scrub even harder to get it off. It also has alcohol. I’m talking about the ST. Ives - Acne Control Face Scrub With Salicylic Acid Do not get this product ever, ever, ever! Toner: I’ve said I don’t think toners are necessary, and that continues with the MARIO BADESCU - Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater If you insist on a toner, don’t get a Mario Badescu one. That includes their face mists to. Why? Because they have tons of fragrance, and alcohol! I have two whole posts on why those ingredients are bad. This is a no. Serum: More Mario Badescu products on this list. These aren’t bad, I mean it’s hard to get a serum wrong, but they just are so overpriced! They sell $35-$45 serums with formulas more basic the The Ordinary! If you love these, great! But if you’re on a budget, try The Ordinary instead. Face Mask: For face masks my pick is a little more general. I choose sheet masks. A sheet mask, is made of cloth, and soaked in serum. I have a few issues with sheet masks. First they’re very bad for the environment as they’re made of non biodegradable cloth and chemical serums. Secondly there’s the formulations themselves. These masks have tons of fragrance, alcohol, and are made with low quality serums. Instead, I would get a nice fragrance free, alcohol free serum, for the same benefits but better. Moisturizer: For moisturizer I choose the Glossier. - Priming Moisturizer Balance . This moisturizer isn’t bad per say, but they market their product as hydrating and soothing, but it really isn’t more than any other product. The only hydrating ingredient they have is squalane, but it’s so far down the ingredient list that it won’t help with hydration that much at such a low dose. This moisturizer also has tons of essential oils and extracts, which can be extremely irritating to some skin types. Those are the terrible products I have! Give this post a cheer so we can warn more people about these products and comment below your least favorite product and why. Follow me on Cherie for more amazing content! -Mae

Super Pure!
Although I've heard mixed reviews about different Glossier skin care products, the Glossier. - Super Pure Niacinamide + Zinc Serum is one that I keep coming back to. This product contains two main ingredients: Niacinamide - if you haven't heard by now, niacinimide is oily skins best friend, as it helps control and balance oil production and can make pores look smaller, but it's also great for all other skin types as well. Niacinimide supports skin barrier resilience, improve an uneven skin tone, and helps the skin repair damage Zinc PCA - derived from zinc, zinc PCA is a skin conditioning ingredient that can also prevent aging by fighting destructive enzymes in the skin that can lead to lose skin, wrinkles, and dullness For more information on both of these ingredients, I recommend Paula's choice skin care directory. https://www.paulaschoice.com/ingredient-dictionary This is a product that I keep coming back to because, true to its name, I always find that my skin is much clearer when I am using this product, and I have less random pimples than usual. As I have oily skin, I also use this product to make my pores look smaller and control all the oils my face makes. This serum is oil free and almost looks like water, and it absorbs super fast when I put it on. It does leave a slightly sticky feeling after it absorbs, but honestly I don't mind it because I put moisturizer on top of it and it goes away. You can use this product twice a day, but I tend to only use it at night because I use vitamin C during the day, and those don't mix well. I think $28 for 30 ml is a fair price for this product, and even if there are cheaper niacinimide serums out there, my skin really seems to like this one, and for that I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Mixing Lactic Acid with Niacinamide
Picking your Niacinamide: Choose products with at least four or five percent concentrations— which has been clinically proven to reduce pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles and acne and at five percent was found to improve redness and sallowness. Things to know when mixing Niacinamide and Lactic Acids: When you mix them together, the niacinamide will raise the pH of the acid; the higher the pH, the less the skin absorbs and the less effective the products. Another problem with mixing niacinamide and acid is that it can cause redness and flushing. Not a welcoming outcome when you’re trying to beautify your skin So how do you properly layer Niacinamide and Lactic acids? 1. Apply them at different point of the day Niacinamide is non acidic and can be used with other non acidic serums and lotions with little waiting/ absorption time. Include this water based treatment before oil based serums in the morning when you’re less likely to have time to wait. When using lactic acids it is usually recommended that you wait 5-30 minutes for the product to absorb into the skin before applying other serums and lotions— maybe this routine will better suit for night time or when you have more time to unwind. 2. Apply them 30 minutes apart This way, each product have time to absorb into the skin, give your skin time to return to its normal pH and allow each product to work at its intended pH. When layering products, start with products with the lower pH (acids), allow 30 minutes and follow with your higher pH serums like niacinamide. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% This is a great beginners Niacinamide that will give you great results for little to no cost. I personally use this twice a day and I find it significantly reduces an inflammation and really help with my breakouts. Clean product: 🌱No Parabens 🌱No Alcohol 🌱No Sulfates 🌱No Nuts 🌱No Oils 🌱No Silicones 🐰 Cruelty Free 🐰 Vegan Other niacinamide favs: Glossier. - Super Pure Niacinamide + Zinc Serum GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Serum Thank you! Be kind and stay beautiful.

Why is your skincare pilling up?
Nothing is worse than finishing off your skincare routine to find that something in your routine is balling up on your face. This can be such a pain in the morning because you basically have to start over before you can even start applying make up. There are a few reasons why this may be happening. 1.) Ingredients aren’t meshing well together This has been the case for me lately with the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Oil-Control Moisturizer and Supergoop! - 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen SPF 40 . Then first one is water based while the second one is silicone based. When I apply the sunscreen on top of the moisturizer it pills up immediately because they don’t mix correctly and separate. Despite loving both products I’ve found they don’t work well together so I no longer use them together. 2.) You’re applying products in the wrong order This has a similar point as point one. Water and oil don’t mix. If you’re putting oil based skincare on before or sandwiching it with water based skincare their is a /potential for pilling. Generally you want to use your water based serums first and then use any oil based skincare on top to create a barrier to seal in any actives. 3.) You’re applying too much product I’m definitely one to want to throw everything on my face in way more quantities than I should but now is definitely the time to take a step back. It’s very tempting but less is more. Your skin can only absorb so much product. If you’re overloading it on there is potential for unabsorbed product to pill. These are all potential reasons why skincare can be pilling up. It’s a total pain to deal with but hopefully realizing why it might be doing this is the first step to correcting it. 🖤

Light as air moisturizer!
This is my new holy grail moisturizer! 😍 actually this brand has now become one of my favorite skincare brands! They heavily considered people with sensitive skin and this moisturizer is no exception 🙌🏽 My skin type is very sensitive, combination, and acne prone. I need a moisturizer that is moisturizing, not to watery and not too rich (full of essential oils and fragrance). If you have a suspicion that your skincare may be breaking you out, then I would check for those things in your skincare. This moisturizer is the best of both worlds: no essential oils, no fragrance, rich but not too rich. It’s everything I wanted in a moisturizer. Also, the packaging is pretty big! First aid beauty’s price range is up there ($25+) but they give you a lot of product, and you can tell they a lot of work into making their products sensitive skin friendly! After using the moisturizer for a month, I’ve been keeping my acne under control! Sometimes I even put the moisturizer on my hands because it just feels therapeutic.

Sensitive - Combo Face Routine
Sensitive - Combo Face Routine
I’ve posted about many of these products individually, but I thought I’d share how I combine them in my relatively simple routine. For reference, my skin is very finnicky (eczema-prone, acne-prone, and very reactive). 🌤SKINCEUTICALS - Hydrating B5 Gel Hydrating Gel With Hyaluronic Acid The only reason for the docked star, is the prohibitive price. My mom got this for me as a gift when my skin was freaking out. It’s a fantastic hydrating serum that is thick and soothing! I apply after a thorough rinse to damp skin. When I run out, I’ll replace this either with Maelove’s hydrating serum (as the ingredients are similar) or I may try out their popular Glow Maker serum! 🌤DESERT ESSENCE - Organic Jojoba Oil Pat on 3 drops of jojoba oil then use my roller around my eyes and brow bone. 🌤KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 Smooth an even layer for extra moisture and sun protection. The initial shine will dry down and give a nice non-greasy glow. +++ 🌙ACURE - Seriously Soothing Cleansing Cream Massage this in for 30 sec - 1 min, focusing on the T zone and where I’m wearing makeup 🌙CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream (repairing) OR MAELOVE - Night Renewer (exfoliating) with DESERT ESSENCE - Organic Jojoba Oil I dot one of the creams around my face, add a few drops of oil and blend together. You can also “lock in” your moisturizer by patting the oil on top, but since these creams are a bit heavier, I like to mix them so everything has a chance to absorb. 🌤🌙Vaseline - Lip Therapy, Advanced Healing Skin Protectant I use this all the time- only wish is it came in the cocoa butter formula! I may try out one of the tins.. but seriously- no chapped lips in the 2 years I’ve been using this! I’d love to hear questions/comments/feedback :)

First post - My Skincare Routine
First post - My Skincare Routine
Hello! This is my first post on Cherie. I’m a licensed esthetician and makeup artist who works at Sephora. I get to try so many products and I love to write reviews/educate people on different products, ingredients and build skincare routines for people! My favorite brands are Youth To The People, Drunk Elephant, Dr Jart+, Farmacy and CeraVe. So here’s my review of my skincare routine products and how they’ve helped me control my hormonal acne! (I am 23 years old with combination oily skin and I have dealt with acne for years). DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel Differin Gel is a fantastic over the counter retinoid available at many drugstores. It is highly effective at unclogging pores and turning over skin cells. This product causes a purge which will result in more acne at first but after about 8-12 weeks the purge will end and your acne will be reduced greatly. Differin gel helps reduce fine lines, large pores, uneven texture, hyperpigmentation and acne. I use it every other night (I use Drunk Elephant TLC serum on the nights I don’t use Differin), on clean, dry skin. I buy the 3 month supply and use a pea sized amount for application. I’ve tried Tretinoin from a dermatologist before but it was extremely irritating and I couldn’t stick to it. Differin gel is the best for sensitive, acne prone skin! FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm Farmacy has fantastic clean beauty products. My favorite is their Green Clean cleansing balm. It’s a soft green sorbet with a light lime scent. It melts in your hands and applies like an oil to emulsify makeup, sun screen and pollution, and washes off like a cleansing milk, leaving skin soft and never stripped. Papaya enzyme and moringa extract detoxify the skin and echinacea calms the skin down and acts as an antioxidant. Green clean is the perfect way to remove waterproof makeup and can be used as the first step in a double cleanse. I will continue repurchasing for life because other cleansing oils just don’t make my skin feel the way this does (I have the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil and I like it but it isn’t detoxifying like Green Clean). Highly recommend! YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser This cleanser has been a very pleasant surprise for me! I saw many rave reviews and decided to give it a go. The Youth To The People Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser has a light spinach/kale scent and foams up gently. It cleanses thoroughly without stripping the skin. I use a half a pump, not a full pump since this cleanser is a bit pricy. The entire Youth To The People line is high quality, highly effective and worth it. The brand is extremely ethical, LGTBQ+ and Black Lives Matter advocates, and completely vegan/cruelty free. They also use glass packaging and strive to be as sustainable/eco friendly as possible! (I don’t have a lot of space for these reviews but I will definitely post more in the near future!)

First Impressions: Krave Beauty 🌊
First Impressions: Krave Beauty 🌊
I’ve been wanting to try out this brand for so long because not only did read wonders about its formulations and ingredients but also because of their mission and stance on environmental sustainability 🌱 💡About the Brand: The focus for the brand was to simplify your skin care routine to the essentials and to repair of your skin’s natural barrier function. Alongside simplifying the skin care routine, the company stands for the reduction of overconsumption. For example: using up your products before restocking- this process will help consumers to purchase products less frequently, thus reducing waste and mass production. ❗️ Krave Beauty has 6 products categorized into either core (cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen) or supplement (toner, serum) ✅ The Products: Krave - Oat So Simple Water Cream Creamy. Light. Nourishing. Plumpness. I have normal skin leaning toward oily in the summer. When I look for moisturizers I’m not one to look for extra extra light ones. THIS ONE is a good medium between light and heavy. It makes me feel hydrated long after applied. Krave - Great Barrier Relief First thought was - hmm this smells different. I can’t really put my finger on it BUT I don’t think it’s a bad smell. And once you work it in, the smell dissipates. It’s a light weight creamy serum that easily sinks into your skin. I bought this because Liah claims that the Tamanu Oil in the serum will help with scarring and hyperpigmentation. I’m excited to test this out long term and see if my scars fade away! Krave - Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser Amazing soft scent. I definitely notice the oat and matcha (since I consume those often 😂). The cleanser is gentle and lightly foams when you work it in. I let my face dry afterwards and sat with it for about 15 minutes and I did not feel dryness AT ALL. 💭 Overall Thoughts: As for a first impression, I don’t think I have any bad things to say about it tbh. No Fragrance. Nourishing Ingredients. Suitable for all skin types. IM A FAN 🤩 I’ll have to check in in a couple of months to give an updated review.

Week 5 of Tretinoin + BIG STORYTIME
Week 5 of Tretinoin + BIG STORYTIME
The dreaded purging period! Sorry for the late post—this is my progress form last week—- This is the end of my fifth week going on Spirinolactone (pills for hormonal acne that I take 1x a day) and Tretinoin. Since last week, I have made some significant changes to my routine, for reasons to be told at the end of the post. I purchased both treatments from Apostrophe, so they have been prescribed by a dermatologist. My Apostrophe cream formula is 0.025% Tretinoin and 4% Niacinimide. I have normal, but dehydrated skin. I’m looking to add more in as I adjust to treatment. My routine is as follows: AM HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence HONEST - Hydrogel Cream PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 (I reapply with this spf every 2 hours) PM DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Hydrium Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule 40ml (for added hydration!) HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Apostrophe formula (using this after moisturizer so I can have a buffer between the tret and my skin) CeraVe - Healing Ointment The purging period, yeah that’s still happening 😩 Ok, so I was previously using the Aveeno spf. The white cast on this was horrendous, so I have been finding myself harshly rubbing the sunscreen in to get rid of the cast. And since I would reapply every two hours, I’d repeat this process frequently throughout the day. After a while, the consequences of harshly rubbing my face became obvious. For the past two weeks, my skin was ultra sensitive. My face stung while touching it. The Cerave hydrating cleanser and Cerave moisturizer for normal to dry skin would BURN. However, none of the other products I used burned. So, I ditched the Aveeno SPF, thanks to a very helpful commenter, and bought the Purito Centella Unscented Sunscreen and... white cast begone! I love to use the Supergoop glow stick to reapply because it leaves my face with a fresh glow. I no longer needed to rub my face so harshly. Yet only the Cerave cleanser and moisturizer still continued to sting. So, I switched my cleanser and moisturizer to Honest Beauty. I have used these products in the past, and loved them. I’ve never had a problem. So I used them, and no sting! I still have no idea why the Cerave cleanser and moisturizer continues to sting now. But for now, I’m halting use.

Morning skincare routine ☀️
As a person who deals with both hormonal acne and eczema, finding skincare products that don’t disrupt my skin’s natural barrier is a delicate balance. These skincare products have consistently kept my skin in check. My face looks softened and dewy (but not oily)! Because my skin changes day to day, I adjust this routine based on my skin’s needs but otherwise this is usually my go-to morning routine. Hope you spotted a product you like too! Also, let me know if you have any skincare recommendations! I’m always willing to try new things! 😄
