these are just a few products that ive been influenced to buy and have ended up absolutely HATING ( dont mind the profanity in the second pic😳) first on the chopping block is AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay
this mask dried me out, triggered my fungal acne, AND always gave me a rash :/ i also found it CRAZY that they recommend to use this mask with apple cider vinegar likeee aaaaaahh no thanks. i do believe that bentonite clay can be very beneficial however i think it should be formulated with other ingredients. next is CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30
when i first started to use this product i remember really liking it but i would notice that it would pill off through out the day! its not a terrible product but there are most definitely better sunscreens out there. then we have
CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin
i know EVERYONE loves this cleanser, and i can see why. the ingredients are great, the products does what it says it’s supposed to do buuuutttt, this cleanser was the culprit to my recent fungal acne breakout. i much rather use the cerave sa cleanser over this one
and sadly we have
DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask
around christmas time i grew an obsession for DE products and ended up getting some for christmas. and as much as i wanted to love this product, it had left me a bit disappointed. to be fair after using the mask my face did feel AMAZINGLY soft but then the next day i was greeted with a huge rash on my face so yeaaahhhh 😀👍🏻 no but fr the packaging its cute and all but i dont want to pay $80 for a mf rash
and FINALLY... the disastrous duo
The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
oh my god i was SUPER EXCITED to try these out when i first got a hold of them but was quickly disappointed. i started off by washing my face making sure to keep it damp after, then applied the niacinamide serum following with the HA serum. i had already noticed the product foaming and was starting to feel the stinging sensation but i pulled through it. then i followed with my moisturizer and it just completely balled up. it was pilling everywhere i had to redo my routine and decided to ignor it. i used to products for a few more days but at that point i was over it.
this just goes to show that not everyone has the same experience with a product and thats ok!! do anything of these products do benefit you guys? like and save! xo melanie

18tlarkinNiacinamide isn’t meant to be put on damp skin. HA is because it takes in the moisture from the environment. Also, make sure to wait until it is thoroughly dry before applying niacinamide because it always foams up if your face is damp. It also takes about 12 weeks to work so be patient!

my go to facial moisturizer for my dry skin
This is the only facial moisturizer all year round from CeraVe. This facial moisture from CeraVe for am use contains SPF 30 protection when you are out in about to prevent you having wrinkles do UV RAY. The Hyaluronic acid helps to give you hydration of layer of your skin and helps to retain moisture. Ceramides helps with restoring healthy skin for the natural barrier. Finally Niacinamide helps to calm your skin down. For my opinion I suffer by dry skin especially in the winter time and it helps me so much during the winter season. I usually use two pumps in the summertime but in the winter season I generally use three pumps. Or on the satisfied using this product and I would recommend anyone to try this product from CeraVe. A little over 2 months results
I’ve been on 100mg /day of spiralactone. No side effects now. I think I had a bit of dizziness in the beginning but my blood pressure and potassium levels were always fine. I’ve stopped breaking out in cysts and very rarely a Pimple here and there . My face is healing now . I’m just dealing with all the post inflammatory hyperpigmentation marks now (PIH). I’ve also been using 0.025% clindamycin /clindamycin from apostrophe every night for the past 2 months also. I’ve just gotten 6%hydroquinone cream to add to my regimen . And so I’m hoping that will help out more so with the PIH Spirolactone and the tretinoin/clindamycin had done wonders for my hormonal acne !

Product Review: Skincare and Makeup
I received these item free in exchange for my honest review on them. Iv been using these products for about a month now. So here we go! 1. COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch Acne Pimple Master Patch $6. Firs of all holy value! These patches are actual magic. They are virtually invisible when on and I love how there are multiple sizes. It honestly cleared up deep pimples overnight. I’m going to stock up! 2. @LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo (+) Effaclar Duo Acne Treatment. I do not have very strong breakouts, while I wish I had this product in high school when my acne was really really bad this product was good but too strong/intense for where my skin is currently at. I used it on a few problem areas but it seems more like a long term treatment not a quick fix for someone like me. 3. MAYBELLINE - Mascara Lash Sensational Lash Sensational I loved the applicator but the formula itself was just not doing it for me. It clumped together on the brush and that transferred over to my lashes. I think the applicator is awesome but not the biggest fan of the formula. 4. MAYBELLINE - FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter Master Chrome Highlighter. I absolutely love this product! It provides a very natural glow that is PERFECT for literally everyday. It blends beautiful and I just really love it. 5. CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin GOLD STAR! This cleanser is seriously the BOM! It’s affordable, gentle, and gets everything from lipstick to lash glue off your face. I’m buying the biggest bottle they have right now!

Starting tretinoin and spironolactone
After 6 months of researching products and learning more about my skin and what works, I have finally found out the root cause of my acne. I feel like I’ve always had a good, consistent skincare routine. I’ve even made good lifestyle choices such as changing my pillow case every week, cutting out diary, limiting junk food, and drinking lots of water. However, I did not see any improvements with my skin. I mainly break out on my cheeks, chin, and jawline, especially when I’m on or about to start my period. I recently consulted a doctor for free thanks to my university’s student health services. She told me that this is hormonal for sure. I had been producing an excess of androgen hormones which lead to more oil production and eventually more acne. She prescribed me with spironolactone and tretinoin. I started taking these medications a few days ago. I think I’m in the purge period right now. I’m so glad I finally have closure on what has been causing my acne. I’ve never had serious acne problems in the past so this has been really frustrating. Current skincare routine: Morning: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide Night: íUNIK - Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin pura d'or - 100% Rosehip Seed Oil I also use the THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser every other night. If I need to subside a pimple, I would use Rael - Acne Healing Patch or the COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch I’ve been taking spironolactone every morning and applying my .025% tretinoin every other night. I’m giving my skin time to adjust to the tretinoin so I will start applying it nightly next week. For those who have taken spironolactone or tretinoin: how long did it take for you to see less breakouts? And can I still use my salicylic acid cleanser while on tretinoin?

The Best Advice For Choosing Skincare Products
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽‍♀️ So I’ve recommended a lot of products and thought I’d share some advice on how how I select skincare products these days. ☺️ Thanks to @babesandbeauty on Instagram for the advice. Products that you consistently use I noticed that I consistently use TruSkin - Vitamin C Serum which has Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E as my day Serum. I also have The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 for my night routine. I’ve started using Truskin’s Super Serum at night and now alternate between using a natural Retinol or Vitamin A Moisturiser and the Truskin Super Serum which has Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, and Retinol. I now can’t live without my FORMULA 10.0.6 - Rise of the Foam Blemish Busting Cleanser I use this because of the salicylic acid and hemp oil as part of my double cleansing routine. I’m currently trialing products for my first cleanse. 😄 I noticed the ingredients are ideal for my issues which are rough texture, larger than average pores, dullness and my wrinkles and fine lines. For reducing the appearance of my fine lines and wrinkles I ❤️ hyaluronic acid!!!! Products that are ideal for your skin type I’m a little lucky in the fact that I have combination skin and can use a range of products for my issues. Treating the wrong skin type can lead to irritated skin, breakouts and premature aging. Choosing the correct skin care routine for your skin type is essential for making your skin appear youthful and healthy. Products that do not cause irritation to your skin barrier Our skin is the largest barrier against infection that we have. Keeping our skin healthy and moist helps keep this barrier strong. Using the proper skin care products for your skin type can help preserve this important protective layer. ☺️ Products that fit your budget and life The Ordinary creators have totally changed how we think about and buy skin care. Its allowed us to understand ingredients and offered them in ridiculously cheap formulas. It’s championed transparency in an industry that wants you to think expensive products are better. Nothing costs more than $20. In fact, the majority of it ranges at less than $10. This is largely in part thanks to The Ordinary's dedication to transparency, resulting in prices that aren't significantly marked up. Although if you can afford to spend $150 I’d recommend purchasing a Serum rather than a cleanser or moisturiser. Drop me a line about what you consider when you purchase skincare products. Is it the beautiful packaging, ingredient list or that you just saw a review and want to try it. ☺️ Have a wonderful day or evening Jade 🥂

When hydration is needed 💦
I am a dry skinned girl so I am always on the look out for hydrators and moisturizers. This is especially the case as I like to use actives in my routine and they can further dry out my skin. Hyaluronic acid is one of my go to ingredients as it draws moisture into my skin and it works well with other ingredients. The ordinary offers this serum which is great as it is super affordable and it works well with my skin. What is it: This is a hyaluronic acid serum with 3 different weighted molecules so that it can penetrate and hydrate different layers if the skin. Hyaluronic acids is a humectant meaning it absorbs moisture from the air and draws it into the skin. This serum also has b5 which helps nourish and soften the skin. Texture: This is a goopy and cloudy serum that is easily absorbed into my dry skin. Price: This sells at Sephora for $6.80 cad for 1 oz or $12.20 cad for 2oz How I use this: I use this along with my steamer to make sure that the air is moisture rich in order to draw moisture to my skin. This ensures I get the best result. Pros 👍: affordable 2 sizes available accessible effective cruelty free 🐰 Cons 👎: some people don’t like the texture you shouldn’t over use hyaluronic acid (check other products) The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 this is a super simple serum that has really helped my dry skin

Clay Hair Mask
HOW TO MAKE: 2 Tbs of Aztec clay powder and 2 Tbs of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay HOW TO PUT ON: Wet hair Divide hair into sections Comb clay mixture into hair with fingers Leave on for 30 minutes HOW TO WASH OUT: Start off with cold water then transition to slightly warmer water MY THOUGHTS: My hair definitely felt clean and my curls felt soft; however, I didn’t get as much curl definition as I was hoping for. Any tips for more curl definitions? What other ingredients have you added to hair clay mixtures?

oily skin & don’t know how to manage? I got you
this post is for all the people who have oily skin and sometimes just don’t know how to deal with it! well i’m here for some tips! I have oily/combo skin and I’ve learnt some important info during my skincare journey that I would love to share with you all 🤗 1. still moisturise it is super important for people with oily skin to keep up with moisturising ! you may think that your skin is hydrated and doesn’t need any extra moisture, but it still really does. if you don’t moisturise, or use products to keep your skin hydrated, your skin can overcompensate with releasing it’s natural oils, which in hand, can make your skin more oily 2. don’t be afraid of oils whether this is oil cleansing or any certain type of oil (rosehip, squalane etc), don’t be hesitant to use these products just because of your skin type. for me, oils have made a huge difference to my skin, especially oil cleansing! one thing to remember with oil cleansing, is that oils attract oils, and therefore are oil soluble. products like this help to get rid of grease, blackheads etc and can be great for oily skin! 3. use products targeted for oily skin I know that this one is quite self explanatory, but here are some products that helped my oily skin become more manageable! - niacinamide. this ingredient is amazing for oily skin ! it helps to decrease oil production from within the skin. my fav product is NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% , but I also don’t mind The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% -exfoliation. now with this I don’t mean physical exfoliation, but chemical exfoliation! my favourite exfoliant has to be PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator this one is my HOLY GRAIL product of them all ! I have many posts on this product so be sure to check those out for an in depth description. - clay face masks. these are good for absorbing oil and giving your face a matte finish. some of my favs are PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Balancing Oil-Absorbing Mask AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay I hope this helps and if you have any questions, feel free to comment 🌟🥰

Why does my skin react different night vs day?
Over the years I have gone through hundreds of products figuring out what works for me. I have finally found a good set of products that I love, but sometimes when I use certain products in the daytime (such as Bio-Oil - Multiuse Skincare Oil and certain facemasks, I breakout so much worse than I do when I use the same exact product at night! I am confused by this so I have been wondering if it’s related to my oil levels throughout the day or what? Should I be using more drying products in the day time and hydrating at night? The only ones that really work for me day and night are The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and THE BODY SHOP - Jumbo Tea Tree Oil although I know Hyram has said oils are not for the face

getting off makeup and clear skin with rosacea!
okay... so I know I've posted this before, and Cherie is (devastatingly) closing down, but I thought I'd share one last post. This really works. one is a prescription and there are a couple items missing, so I'll add them to the pictures. Here is the order they say to put on skincare (as depicted) 1) makeup remover/wash (I use Queen Helene cold cream that I SWEAR by, sometimes BURT’S BEES - BURT‘S BEES Sensitive Facial Cleanser ) 2) Facewash/second face wash (I use DERMA•E - Sensitive Skin Cleanser and Joeseph anti Acne soap 10% sulfur) 3) Toner (I use THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Toner ) 4) Serums (I use a few... my prescription Amzeeq, mostly The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% , and DERMA•E - Blue Light Shield Concentrated Serum ) 5) Spot Treatments (Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment , tea tree oil when needed) 6) Eye Cream (not pictured - DERMA•E - Firming DMAE Eye Lift Cream ) 7) Moisturizer (2 different kinds depending on how dry I am- pictured: Alba Botanica Aloe Green tea moisturizer, not pictured: skinfix - Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream ) 8) Retinol: Now, because I have rosacea, I use a retinol alternative. The best one for sensitive skin I found is The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion use at night only) 9) Face Oil: HEAR ME OUT: If you have oily skin, it's not the WORST thing to use an oil. As a matter of fact, it may work well. BEST ONE BY FAR IS ROSEHIP OIL. I can't tell you how amazing it is The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil , and JOSIE MARAN - Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment during the day) wear sunscreen during the day, and put it in place of retinol. I use Glossier. - Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen it's a great light moisturizer, too. And at night in the winter if it's super dry, I'll put petroleum jelly around the corners of my eyes and lips. The results don't lie, Cherie babes (: comment below I'd you know of a better eye cream.

Babyfacial Not Your Fave? Try This New Peel!
Whether it be because of the brand, the potency, or the texture, some folks just don’t love Drunk Elephant Babyfacial. But some substitutes leave a lot to be desired- either they’re irritating, or too simple, or the texture makes everything a mess. Insert PAULA'S CHOICE - 25% AHA + 2% BHA Exfoliant Peel : a fantastically well-formulated substitute for the cult fave facial. I’m a huge DE fan, but I have to admit, I reach far more for PC’s shimmery purple goo! • Compare/Contrast: Like DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask , the Paula’s Choice peel contains a 25% AHA cocktail alongside 2% BHA, both formulated at a low pH (PC: 3.5-3.9, Babyfacial: 3.5-3.6) so that the acids can function optimally. PC incorporates 8.4% glycolic acid, 7.1% lactic acid, 5% mandelic acid, 2.5% malic acid, 2% tartaric acid, 2% salicylic acid, a variety of humectants and emollients, plus antioxidants and skin-soothing ingredients like licorice root extract, bisabolol, and allantoin. DE doesn’t specify the quantities of acids in it, but considering the position of the acids in the INCI list, glycolic acid is the most present, with lactic acid and citric acid below the 2% salicylic acid. They also include humectants, emollients (like marula oil), antioxidants, as well as soothing aloe, prickly pear extract, green tea leaf extract, allantoin, and licorice root extract. I didn’t find any literature that supported the exfoliating claims of the included pumpkin enzyme so 🤷🏽‍♀️ But still, both tout great ingredient lists! • Thoughts: Both products deliver on promises of a deep exfoliating treatment that leaves skin soft and smooth, as well as visibly evened skin tone and a more luminous complexion. But I find Babyfacial is too abrasive to use more than 1-2 times per month for me... the high glycolic acid content makes it incredibly potent -think med spa peels- but something more suitable to skin that tolerates strong exfoliants, and mature skin that benefits from stimulated fibroblasts for collagen production. Paula’s Choice’s Peel is a more solid try for sensitive skin and exfoliant newbies- the cocktail of multiple acids make for a more gentle peel, especially since citric acid (which PC forgoes but DE includes) can be a bit sensitizing. I didn’t experience any tingling whatsoever with this shimmery purple mask and used it twice in one month without issue, making me think it’d be a good weekly peel for most folks! Is it a Dupe? I don’t believe in dupes unless the formulas are identical. PC’s new peel is a great substitute for Babyfacial or the Ordinary’s Vampire Peel, being far more gentle and an overall better experience, in my opinion.

A decade of struggle
A decade of struggle
I have struggled with my acne for a decade now and have have been up and down the rollercoaster of good and bad skin. I never was able to find something to keep the acne away. I tried every product, every wash, every zit cream, and medication; to no avail. Today I woke up with out a single pimple and that hasn’t happened in years! I know my skin still has a long way to go but I am so happy with where it is today. The bottom pictures are my face this morning with no filtering or facetune and I am thrilled! I think I am finally on the road to figuring out what is right for my face! I just wanted to share in my happiness today and document it, in case it doesn’t last 😂 These are some of the products I use but everyone’s face is different so it may not work for everyone! Also I don’t use all these products everyday so read directions and be careful! CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin PanOxyl - Acne Foaming Wash Benzoyl Peroxide 10% Maximum Strength The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane (I use the 2%) The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay Neutrogena - Neutrogena Combination Skin Moisture

I recently added The Ordinary’s products into my routine as well as a daily spf and my skin has truly never looked better. If you suffer from acne, dark spots and dull skin- I highly suggest this routine ❤️ ** Also, when using Vitamin C (such as The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% ) I chose to moisturize with the Squalane because any water in products will neutralize the Vitamin C and stop it from working on your skin, so always make sure to use a moisturizer/ oil / serum with no form of water on the ingredient list while using a vitamin C product! :)

CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin Mentioned in my previous post: my holy grail for facial cleansers! Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel I used the Neutrogena hydro boost cleansing gel as a double cleanser courteous to my Cerave hydrating cleanser. The main reason I double cleanse is to use the first cleanser (hydro boost) to take off an remaining makeup, diet, oil and toxins from the air before doing a deep cleanser (Cerave). I recommend double cleansing because it personally has helped my skin become cleaner and clearer! you can double cleanse with the same cleanser or you can use two different ones! The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% toning solution is an exfoliating toner to help with textured skin. Since it’s a exfoliating toner, it’s recommended to be used every other night (preferable). This is my favorite toner I have used so far! Personally, the exfoliating portion of it has helped my skin become smoother and dewy. I use this product about every other night. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This chemical peel has been my favorite exfoliating product so far. This easy-at-home 10 mins peeling solution has improved my textured skin and reduced the appearance of my acne scarring! I would recommend if you have highly sensitive skin to do a patch test first, because after all it is a chemical peel. It does tingle and have a bit of burning sensation when first applied, but goes away within a couple minutes of use (that means it’s working ;)) The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% my holy grail serum for my skin care routine. I have been using this since day one of starting my skincare routine and it’s been amazing! I get a hint of red after using my skin care products and thus has helped reduce the redness my face produces after my routine! this serum is also wonderful to help the appearance of your pores look smaller and helps with uneven skin tone! 100/10 recommend this product to be in your skincare routine! Clean&Clear - Advantage Acne Spot Treatment I’m not a fan of Clean and Clear products, but after discovering this spot treatment, they have gained a little respect from me. I struggle with those are to get rid of cystic pimples and have never found a treatment strong enough to make them disappear until I started using this product. This product made my monster of a pimple completely disappear after one use! I continue to use it on others and it has made them disappear within a short amount of time too! 3 day progress! Restoring my moisture barrier
3 day progress! Restoring my moisture barrier
For months my skin has been really good. Minimal breakouts, not too dry - pretty normal overall. At times I would say I have dehydrated skin. I do get occasional breakouts and in the past I did do one round of accutane when it was uncontrollable. Then overnight (at least it felt like it) my face was BROKE OUT AF. (Left video) After some research and analyzing my symptoms, I determined I wrecked my moisture barrier by over exfoliating. A combo of chemical and physical. So I cut out all exfoliating products of any kind including SA and BP and this is the result IN JUST THREE DAYS! I feel like it’s definitely improving and plan to keep using my newer routine / products. After I figured out the issue - I switched to more gentle products and maybe one day I’ll gradually go back to my previous products and just keep the chemical exfoliant to a minimum. What I am using now: GARNIER - SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover my pre-cleanse if I was wearing makeup that day. CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser morning and night cleansing. TATCHA - The Essence Plumping Skin Softener hadn’t been using this (but it was already in my collection) I added it back in for additional moisture absorption benefits. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% been using this for months. IT’S A MUST HAVE FOR ME! The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 new for me - added this in for additional moisture CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin new for me - for daytime CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion new for me - I used all the same products in the routine and then top with this lotion for nighttime —— Things I cut out: earthtoskin - Super Greens Nourshing Face Cleanser The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream honestly probably could have kept using this it’s amazing and great for sensitive skin FOREO - LUNA mini 2
