Brand Breakdown: Glow Recipe
Hey y’all! In today’s Brand Breakdown, we’re talking about Glow Recipe. Glow recipe was founded in 2014 bu Christine Chang, and Sarah Lee, two Korean Americans. Today I’ll be breaking down the ingredients of 4 of their most popular products. Let’s start with the GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask with is $42 for .5 fl oz. This face mask features retinol as the title suggests, and it also has avocado oil and extract, as well as coffeeberry. Avocado oil and extract have Vitamin E and C, and are also nourishing. Coffeeberry, which is the seed of a coffee plant, has a lot of antioxidants. It also has glycerin and squalane which are hydrating, as well as Nicinamide, Hylaronic acid, and aloe vera gel. I will mention that this product has a lot of potentially irritating extracts as well as fragrance. Next is one of their most popular products, the GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon + AHA Glow Sleeping Mask which is $45 for 2.7 fl oz. This mask has has 2 main ingredients. Watermelon extract, and Hylaronic acid. By this point y’all know all about Hylaronic acid (and if you don’t, check out my Skincare Acid Cheat Sheet), so let’s talk about watermelon extract. If you read my Brand Breakdown on Clean & Clear, you’ll know that watermelon extract is an amazing ingredient, and watermelon juice isn’t. Luckily, in this product it’s watermelon extract, which is very soothing and hydrating. This product also has glycerin and Glycolic acid in it. It does however have a lot of fragrance, irritating extracts, and alcohol. Next up is the #GLOW RECIPE - Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm Makeup Remover[products]#[ThreeStars] with is $32 for 3.4 fl oz. Supposedly the main draws of this product are papaya enzymes, papaya seed oil, and blueberry extract. Now blueberry extract and papaya seed oil are not very researched ingredients that have only minimal effects on the skin. Papaya enzymes are mildly exfoliating, but don’t do much else. The cleansing balm is pretty basic other than this. And finally is the #GLOW RECIPE - Pineapple Vitamin C Serum[products]#[TwoStars] which is $49 for 1 fl oz. The marketing for this product is around its pineapple juice and Vitamin C. This product is super lacking for the price. The same way watermelon juice is less good for your skin than watermelon extract (because it’s diluted), pineapple juice is less effective than pineapple extract. Other than that, this product has Vitamin C which is great but very mainstream. This product also has fragrance. Those are all the products I have for today. I would say they got gradually worse as we went on, which I didn’t even do on purpose. This brand is quite expensive for it’s actual formulations, and I think there are better brands that are cheaper. If you can splurge, splurge on Youth to the People instead. Please cheer for this post, follow me for similar content, and comment below your favorite Youth to the People product. -Mae
Cherie Made Me But It! 🍒 ✨🍉
Hi Cherie Fam 🍒 I came across @Mallory‘s post regarding the avocado sleeping eye mask 🥑 and the niacinamide watermelon drops 🍉. I was intrigued so I did some research and ended up ordering the make your own kit. It comes with 4 sample size items and a bag for $29. I thought I would try to sample the product first and see how it works on my skin before committing to a full size products. I got the •GLOW RECIPE - Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser I heard this cleanser is great for removing make up. I read the ingredient list and I am sold. I can never say no to a gentle cleanser • GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer I am looking for a new day time moisturizer and this seems perfect. This smells so good. It has a thin consistency and feels cool on the skin •GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask I HAD to get this. Dark circles and hollow under eyes are a problem. It’s generic and I love how this contains retinol Glow recipe also included lots of sample items. I didn’t pick up the niacinamide drops because I still have lots from Paula’s choice. However, I am excited to try it and glad I got a sample I will post a review in a month or so and let you all know how it worked out. Xoxo, Francesca 💋
olehenriksen Cold Plunge Pore Mask . 💦contains clay, snow lotus extract, lactic & salicylic acids, eucalyptus, green tea, algae, alpine willow & Irish moss 💦has a light minty scent & cooling effect on the skin (but doesn’t tingle) 💦the directions say to leave it on for 15 minutes then add cool water to lather & rinse off; both times I have used it I have left it on for longer b/c it doesn’t completely dry so your skin doesn’t feel tight or hard. It does take a little manpower to get off (& is a little messy)-I went through 2 washcloths to get it off & both were bright blue afterwards, but the color came right out after 1 cycle in the washing machine (personally, I think the fun bright blue color makes it worth a little mess 😉) 💦I love the way my skin feels after removing-it is so soft & smooth, my pores look clearer & skin feels overall refreshed. It’s supposed to help control oil but I haven’t noticed this yet-maybe with more uses I will be able to tell a difference-i will update if so! I will be repurchasing this! .

Battle of the Face Masks
My skin type is combo oily that can lean more dry during the weather changes or just randomly. My skin concerns are acne, oiliness throughout the day and also dehydration. I’ve ranked the face washes I currently have open right now based on how they worked for me personally (starting from favorite). My favorite out of this bunch is the philosophy - Purity Made Simple Pore Extractor Mask because can see a difference when I use the mask, but it’s nothing major especially for the price tag. . philosophy - Purity Made Simple Pore Extractor Mask Key Ingredients: Salicylic Acid (for acne and blackhead removal) and White Clay (removes dead and dry skin cells). Texture/Consistency: Cream with granules Scent: None Price: $18 for 1 oz / 30 mL (mini size) OR $35 for 2.5 oz / 75 mL Experience: I haven’t noticed much, if any, difference in my pores honestly. I do notice that my skin looks more radiant and glows after removing this mask because the abundant amount of granules give a nice exfoliation. Repurchase/Recommend: It’s nice, but nothing special and don’t think it’s worth the high price tag because it’s not on the face long. I’d rather put that money towards an actual exfoliator than a mask. . e.l.f. - Hydrating Bubble Mask Key Ingredients: Glycerin (for hydration and protection) Texture/Consistency: Gel that turns into bubbles Scent: Soapy Price: $14 for 1.69 oz / 50 g Experience: The sensation of the gel turning into bubbles tickles and can easily get out of control and get into your eyelashes. I don’t notice any difference in the hydration of my skin. It is easy to wash off, but the packaging is finicky and randomly decides to stop dispensing product and you have to keep pressing down until more comes out. It also requires quite a bit of product to fully coat the face so not sure how long it will last for. Repurchase/Recommend: No I didn’t notice any difference and the packaging is difficult. . FREEMAN - Matcha Ice Cream Melting Sugar Face Mask Key Ingredients: Matcha extract (helps clear pores) Texture/Consistency: Thick gel with gummy flakes Scent: Sweet Price: $3.99 for 1.18 fl oz / 3-4 uses Experience: This mask is so thick and difficult to remove off the face! It made me ever want to use it. I also didn’t notice any sort of difference after using this mask. The style packaging is really nice and convenient and you can definitely get more uses than the recommended. It also claims that the flakes dissolve, but they never did for me. Repurchase/Recommend: No, too difficult to remove and didn’t see any results.

Let’s talk about Pores minimizing product
This is Rare Earth deep pore cleansing masque from skincare brand Kiehl’s made from New York, USA 🇺🇸 Main ingredients: Amazonian White Clay, Water, Glycerin, etc Benefit: It claims that some of main ingredients sourced near the Amazon River in Northern Brazil so, the formula is full with minerals and get rid of surface toxins from skin. What I noticed: I use this product once every two weeks and I use it over summer to spring season. Now it is winter time, I’m confidently shout out to the result of it. this cleansing masque really helps deep cleansing my skin inside out, my skin feel frim since the first time I use, and I noticed the appearance of pores minimized clearly after I ‘m continue using it a month. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 Down side: On the direction of product recommended for use once or twice a week. But if you have sensitive normal to dry skin just like me, you should use it only once every two week or less just like me. Because it could dry out or irritate your skin or both. Price: $35/ 4.2 oz Tips: put the masque on thin layer and make sure you leave it only 10 mins and remove it well but warm wet towel. Kiehl's - Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque

THE BODY SHOP - Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask I’m so glad I picked up this back at ulta on Black Friday! It was on sale for 16$ and I couldn’t pass that up. This mask is amazing for pores! It really dries them up and clears them out. My skin looks so clean after using There are a few downsides, it really is DRYING, I need to triple moisturize after using this. Also it’s pretty messy! I recommend washing off in the shower and not over a sink

I LOVE THIS MASK. The Bliss Pore Patrol Deep Detox Four-Clay Souffle Mask is my new favorite impurity vacuum for my skin. It comes out of this cannister and the texture is silky and whipped. It goes on so smooth, and dries quickly. After rinsing this off, my skin felt like .. felt. Soft. Plump. Ready for action. Whats in it that makes it so good? -Bentonite Clay -Kaolin Clay -French Green Clay (cause french clay is the bougiest clay) -Sea Clay So all the main clays are here, and as they dry down, they dyson the hell out of your pores. Like sucks out the sadness and impurities.
