11 HOURS AGO·1 like
So I purchased this cleanser about a week ago in Walmart. I honestly bought it because I saw it was only $6 & I have a major spending problem whenever I walk into the beauty/skincare section of any store 😬 e.l.f. - Superclarify Cleanser I expected it to be a crappy, cheap cleanser that would probably make me break out. HOWEVER, I was so, very wrong. Before buying this cleanser, I had been using CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin for months. It performs well, I wouldn’t call it amazing but it does it’s job & hasn’t caused me any issues. Lately I was testing out some primers & other products that have actually caused me to breakout just because my skin was probably like chillll, I wanna breathe! The Cerave cleanser usually gets rid of my pimples fairly easily, but it does take a couple of days. This ELF cleanser got rid of all my recent pimples on the first use. Literally. I couldn’t believe it! It comes in this off white milky gel-like cream that foams up a little as you use it. I can’t tell you have surprised I am with this stuff! My face is literally clear! & smooth! & it’s only $6! It also has Niacinamide in it, which is an all around amazing ingredient. It helps calm your face & prevent redness as well as texture. Elf has done it again for me, made an amazing product at an even more amazing price! Try it guys! Seriously!!! That’s all for now 👋🏻 Talk to you guys later! 💖 💋 @cherie@Cheriebeauty@CheriePick
My updates skincare!!!
This is really hard to post, but my skin was beautiful in the beginning of this year (first collage pic). didnt have a flaw on it practically. around summer time i began noticing closed comedones all over my cheeks. i have dermatillomania and tried to get them out but obviously it didn’t do anything but make my skin worse. what the tipping point was, i used a face shaver and i did this multiple times and ruined my cheeks. i thought it would help...no, not at all. my skin got worse, and worse, and worse. september was the worst my skin has ever been and i’ve never felt so insecure (2nd collage pics). the past few months i’ve been using CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser and i think it’s really helped. the horrible horrible chin acne has died down, and things are just left as scars now. i use this morning and night along with The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and CeraVe - SA Lotion For Rough & Bumpy Skin these two have also helped a lot for what i believe is just the “congestion”. at night i do the same thing but add The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA and The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil for my scars, because i’ve read it really helps brighten and decrease the appearance—which i think it has. once a week i use the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution i’m beginning to worry i have too many things going on and that’s why the progress is so slow. i’m also on the hunt for a new sunscreen because i was using CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide and i HATE it—the white cast is awful and it makes me feel sticky. i thought this was a good routine but i’m beginning to get concerned. i switched my cleanser from the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser because i was seeing no progress at all and thought i needed something with a bit more strength. does anyone have any suggestions? i’ve gotten better about not picking, but some days it’s very hard and i’ve lose a lot of confidence this year due to my acne. i’ve also been on 100 mg of Spironolactone for 3-4 years now, but in september i upped it to 150 because of how bad my skin got. i do my best to not eat any dairy and i’ve worked on having a better diet, to really flush my system, but i don’t know what’s right or wrong for me anymore.
My CeraVe Knowledge 🌾
👩🏾🔬 Fun fact: CeraVe's dermatologists developed in 2005 a line of skincare products enriched with a blend of 3 essential ceramides (ceramides 1, 3, and 6-II) 💲the company started selling products in 2006. At first, there were only 3: 1 moisturizing cream 1 moisturizing lotion and 1 hydrating cleanser. ☝🏾 CeraVe = products that combined Ceramides and multiVesicular Emulsion technology. 🏵 here are a few benefits of ceramides: they help create a barrier to prevent permeability they help lock moisture into your skin, which helps prevent dryness and irritation, so that your skin stays soft they may have anti-aging effects 💁🏾♀️ know that CeraVe doesn't treat underlying skin conditions. they are a brand that offer skincare products without a prescription. 📈 so if your condition worthen with time, please go see a dermatologist asap to get a proper check up. 😚 I started using CeraVe a year ago and tried 3 products: a facial sunscreen CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 a SA cleanser CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser a moisturizing lotion CeraVe - SA Lotion For Rough & Bumpy Skin 2 of them are in my current skincare routine! 🤭 what's your favorite CeraVe product? #CheriePartner
Before and After sensitive skin routine
Hi Cherie fam 😊 I started my night routine for sensitive skin on November 7 (I have a post about it). I don’t know if you can tell from the pictures, but I feel like my skin improved. My pores are smaller, my skin is very soft (feels like velvet), brighter and not tight at all. The redness is still here, but I know rosacea treatment takes longer to get better and it’s winter, which makes the redness worse. Overall I’m very happy with my PM skin routine! I should also mention that I added oil to my routine (tarte - Maracuja Oil or The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil ) That’s how I layer: Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser VICHY - Mineralizing Thermal Water Spray Rich in 15 Minerals (not every day, just when I feel the redness is worse than normal) The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil OR tarte - Maracuja Oil CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion (I didn’t rate 5 stars bc I don’t feel it’s the best moisturizer I used in my life, I actually like the The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA better) The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% Hopefully I’ll have another post in a couple of months about improvement on the redness! 😘
My top 2 cleansers for acne/combo skin
Part 2 to my routine posts (see previous posts for full routine and in depth product description/reviews) My skin: I have combo skin with hormonal acne that is mostly on my cheeks and jawline. I have some bumps on my forehead and acne scarring on my cheeks. 🧚♀️Neutrogena - Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser - I have been using this cleanser for close to a year now. It’s true to its name—ultra gentle on the skin! I have never had a reaction to it and the best part is it doesn’t dry out my skin. I have moved this to my PM routine since I’m now incorporating retinol to the PM. The only reason for knocking off one star is that it doesn’t lather much and sometimes I’m not sure it really is doing a deep cleanse. (If you wear makeup most days you might want a second cleanse). 🧚♀️LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin - Newish addition to the skincare family. I use this in the AM and I really am liking it. It seems to help minimize breakouts, lathers well, and feels like a clean slate in the morning. It works great in addition to my other acne products as well. Reason for 4 stars is that I’ve noticed it dries out the skin around my nose and corners of my mouth (so I add extra hydrating moisturizer there at the end), and it’s super liquidy—like as soon as I open the cap it comes pouring out. So I wish it had a pump or something a little less messy (I do worry about traveling with it). But overall worth it and well priced! Part 3 will feature my HOLY GRAIL Clinique products that you need if you want to control your acne!

CeraVe-Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser
I discovered this product 5 yrs ago and it is my absolute favorite. Once I started using this i have never again thought about any other cleanser. Actually i never did need it. I’m so glad to have found this. It’s a mild, fragrance free and produces enough lather. It’s Dermatologically approved and a cult favourite. On my journey to get rid of acne, this has always helped in combating my acne. By incorporating this in my CTM routine for AM-PM i have noticed it helped in controlling acne . As i had very less zits popping out. If you’re looking for an affordable yet effective cleanser to control zits then this could be it. Xoxo💋

Why your skin might be breaking out…
Your skin knows best. If issues arise it’s typically from an off balance in your body. Lots of things can affect the health of your skin (i.e. diet, sleep, environment, hormones etc.). Depending on your skin type, your skin can react to these factors differently. The most common reaction is seeing breakouts or developing a sensitivity. The skin has the ability to heal itself but sometimes it needs a little bit of help but if we help it too much, it freaks out. I would recommend a “skin reset”. A skin reset is when you stop using active ingredients or any treatment in your routine. This allows the body to regenerate the good bacteria on your skin. A skin reset consists of the most basic skincare steps. 1. Gentle cleanser 2.Moisturizer for your skin type 3. SPF!!! SPF is very important everyday but it is extra important when you’re skin isn’t happy because the sun is constantly attacking your skin. If your skin doesn’t clear up after 2 weeks of a skin reset, you should consider the other factors above. Hope this helps!!

EMPTY! Is budget-friendly bad? ...
My mum has been using this face wash for years. After a rebellious face where I bought more expensive but ultimately useless washes, I went back and tried this one. The Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash is a drugstore find that has no-fuss packages and last a long time. But is it any good? 🌻 Kept my face reasonably acne free, except during hormonal cycles 🌻 Washes leftover make up off after initial makeup remover, HOWEVER I found that I still have a tiny amount coming off when I use a toner 🌻 Removes oil without completely stripping away moisture 🌻 Cheap, especially when considering how long it lasts (took me about 6months to get through the bottle) 🌻 Does not irritate my sensitive skin Ultimately, I think it's a good purchase and one of the better choices for broke students with troublesome skin. I would recommend giving it a try before rushing out to buy a much pricier option that may be equal or worse for your needs. Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash

Let’s hope this works
Okay so I switched from Neutrogena products to CeraVe about a month ago. I’ve always struggled with acne but after doing some research I felt like if I just used the regular gentle cleanser with a spot treatment and acne moisturizer it would be fine. Nope. Still breaking out. Sometimes worse than before! So I got this acne cream cleanser. I’m planning on using the gentle cleanser in the morning, and the acne cleanser at night. But that could change to using the acne cleanser twice a day. ✨first impression: well, first it says to put on damp skin but I was zoning out and put it on with a dripping wet face. Oops. It felt like it was just sliding around my face and not doing anything so when my face dried a little I added a bit more and it felt better. Secondly, the products says “foaming” cream cleanser. There was no foam. With the regular gentle cleanser, that stuff foams like crazy and really feels like I’m getting clean. This stuff doesn’t foam and doesn’t feel like I’m getting a super good deep clean. But I’m really hoping it helps my acne!!!! That’s all I want!!

update on curology
curology seems to be working! i’ve seen less breakouts! usually when i get breakouts i get a bunch of little bumps. but now i’ve just gotten like single bigger pimples which kind of bothers me but at least i don’t get big breakouts. although this does seem to be working it dries out my skin quite a lot! my eczema is starting to flare and i’m now using the CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin which helps my skin a lot! hopefully my skin continues to clear up and also stays hydrated! i’ll keep you guys updated.
