Benefits of using mucin: -Seals in moisture and helps skin
cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. this product is 96% snail mucin 🐌. Snail mucin, it's the slimey little trail the snail leaves behind, and comes from your ordinary garden snail. No snails are harmed when it comes to collecting snail mucin, quite the opposite actually. In order for a snail to be able to produce optimum mucin, it must be well rested and feel comfortable and relaxed in its environment. How cosrx collect their mucin is, they'll be placed on a mesh net in a dark room (they're nocturnal) and are left alone to freely roam the mesh for 30 minutes, then are placed back in their home, the mesh is collected and hey presto! You've got yourself a mesh covered in mucin. The two weeks that I've been using this product, here are my visible results: -Plump and hydrated skin -Existing cystic pimples have dramatically reduced in size - Acne scars seem much less visible -No new breakouts 🎉 The product is thick and slimey in its consistency, clear in appearance and has no noticeable smell. It applies and absorbs effectively and layers well. I use this straight after toning and have no problem layering other serums and moisturisers on top, they all absorb beautifully and no stickiness is left behind. Snail mucin contains ingredients like glycoproteins, hyaluronic acid, and glycolic acid. Benefits of using mucin: -Seals in moisture and helps skin heal -Rich in hyaluronic acid and antioxidants -Plumps the skin and smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles -Stimulates collagen production -Fades acne scars and dark spots -Improves skin's texture 🐌 For me, this has been my hero product and has seriously helped improve my problematic skin.

these are just 2 products in my current routine but these are my ride or dies! starting with the PACIfICA - Cosmic Hemp Balancing Face Wash im on my 2nd bottle of this stuff! it's not drying at all, smells nice and leaves my face feeling clean but not stripped. it's 10 dollars which isn't bad! it contains hemp seed oil which I have found to help keep my skin soft. Fourth Ray - Strawberry Face Milk I also have the coconut one! from colourpop's skin care line, fourth ray beauty, the face milks are perfect for me, as an oily skinned gal, for lightweight moisture that's super effective! it's winter where I am and these usually do the trick! I also keep my skin super hydrated to begin with so that may help so keep that in mind. I got these from ulta, they cost $14 each but I got a sale for buy one get one 40% off. I'm definitely going to repurchase these little gems 💎 when I run out! next up for skin care review... currently trying COSRX - 2 in 1 Poreless Power Liquid and COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence so I will update on that in about 2 weeks or so! thanks for reading. you're beautiful 😍 have a great day 😘
🧼Rebuilding My Moisture Barrier💧🤍
It’s always a balancing act when it comes from skincare. 😅 at least for me! Haha 💧I’ve had adult acne and have acne-primed skin, so when it comes to finding the right products that don’t over-strip my skin but also keep my breakouts & acne under control...you could say it’s been a journey! 💧If you saw one of my recent posts about my retinol breakout 😪 I’m back to familiar territory aka flaky, dry, inflamed skin aka my moisture barrier is damaged. And with the colder months, I’ve been spending more time trying to repair it. 💧These are some of the products that have been helping me: 🧴COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence : I recently purchased this essence and have really loved the effects. I use it after cleansing and find that it helps when I use it when my skin is still damp! It’s made my skin so soft & since it’s an essence, it allows for my other products to penetrate deeper into my skin. I will say, for those who are not really familiar with essences (especially this one), many often have a gel-like texture that isn’t super typical in some products (slightly sticky & for this one, slimy). 🧴CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin : my tried and true!!! I’ve been layering this product on, especially at night after the essence. Day or night, this lotion is a must-have in my book. It doesn’t feel oily on my skin and the hyalauronic acid is such a bonus since this an ingredient that helps draw in moisture into the skin. 🧴Krave - The Beet Shield : WORTH THE HYPE! Love Krave Beauty and I LOVE the Beet Shield. The texture is amazing, super light and dried down pretty quickly without a white cast. It makes me WANT to put on sunscreen and not just feel like I NEED to. 〰️After cutting back on the steps in my routine, and feeling& seeing results, I’ve been reintroducing these products for gentler exfoliation!〰️ 🧼CLARISMA - Cali Dreaming Cream Daily Moisturizer : the Clarisma moisturizer is super light and something I’ll typically wear during the day. It’s gentle and I like to wear it on days I’m inside especially since it is a lighter moisturizer and when I’m outside in the cold, I prefer something heavier. 🧼CLARISMA - Malibu Blush Exfoliating Scrub : the most gentle exfoliator! The exfoliating scrub isn’t at all like other physical exfoliants. The Luffa fruit breaks down when you use it so no micro tears with this one. The enzymes used also provide such a gentler exfoliation unlike most harsh acids. It also doesn’t cause hyperpigmentation, which I’ve experienced in the past with acids. 🏹Let me know what’s helped you with repairing or protecting your moisture barrier! 🤍
CosRx Snail Mucin Essence (k-beauty)
-What is it? A thick “essence” that is made of 96% snail mucin. Sounds gross right? Well I thought the same thing until I finally decided to try it. This snail mucin secretion is ideal and targeted for hydration and repair. Repair you say? This means hyperpigmentation, acne scars, healing open acne scars, etc. And THIS STUFF WORKS. It has amazing anti-inflammatory properties and also provides lasting hydration. As you can see it has a very thick consistency, it’s very gummy and sticky but doesn’t feel sticky on the skin if that makes sense. It doesn’t make me feel sticky because it absorbs so well. I say “essence” because normally essences have a watery or lightweight texture in my experience. This is targeted for all skin types. -My thoughts 💭 Definitely one of my favorite k-beauty products of all time. I’ve been using this for almost 2 months and I am about halfway through the bottle. I picked this up because I suffer from acne and specifically the marks that it leaves behind. I think it’s also nice to have some extra hydration in my routine. I have definitely noticed a difference in my skin with leftover acne marks since starting this product. If I pick (sometimes I can’t help it), this stuff will help heal the open scab and prevent severe scarring from happening. I love this product! -Final takeaways 🗣 100% recommend this product because I think everyone can benefit from it. Even if you don’t have acne prone skin, it still provides insane hydration to your skin. It also also so cost effective, which makes it even more amazing to me! $21 for 3.38 oz on SokoGlam, and I got mine on amazon for a similar price! You need this essence. When Glow Recipe come out with products the hype is real. I was excited to try their vitamin c as I was dealing with hyperpigmentation and acne scarring. Plus at 45, the lines are creeping in. Glow Recipe Pineapple serum claimed to help with it all. Unfortunately the first turnoff for me was the scent. It’s a sweet smell so I’m tipped off right away that their is fragrance in it. It’s listed as the last few ingredients but it’s strong. Then came my breakouts. I tried this three different times with the same results, I’d always breakout. And not a small little whitehead but big angry red spots. So this was a huge disappointment for me. Besides the cute packaging, it’s a definite miss for me. Two strikes for GR 😔 Avocado Mask and Vitamin C serum. I do have more products of theirs I’ll be reviewing. What do you think? Hits or misses?

A quick review on the @peachandlily glass skin refining serum. 🍑✨ - A little about my skin first - it’s oily, acne prone, large visible pores and I have acne scarring as well as some hyperpigmentation. I’ve heard great things about this serum so I had to give it a try! Especially because it seemed like the perfect solution for all my skin issues - I’ve been using this product for a little over two weeks now and have seen such a huge difference on my skin! My breakouts have calmed down and pores are visibly less. Overall I’m seeing a brighter and more even toned face haha! I’m going to continue using it and hope that my skin only looks better! The serum is also super lightweight so it easily absorbs into your skin and gives you nice glow with dewy skin. ✨ - Anyone else tried it and like it? I’m hoping to only see better results! 😊

GLOW RECIPE - Pineapple-C Brightening Serum I love love this serum a lot. It contains pineapple juice , chamomile, and vitamin c. Says that it helps with uneven texture and tone but also hydrates and soothe the skin. The pineapple juice helps create the look of healthy bright and hydrated looking skin. The chamomile helps calm and soothes irritated skin perfect for people with sensitive skin. The vitamin c to help reduce the appearance of dark spots, redness (hyperpigmentation) . It is a lightweight serum with a water-like kinda of oil type of serum. It smells like straight up potent pineapple juice . So I don’t suggest it to those who hate the smell of pineapple. But for those who don’t mind the smell it’s a very good product to use. I’ve been using this product for a few months now and I have seen significant changes in my skin. My acne scars are fading and my skin has been looking more clear and bright like have glass skin. I totally recommend this and it’s an affordable price for what it’s meant for!

Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum This lightweight serum will target the appearance of skin discoloration and uneven skin tone. This serums helps to diminish age spots, acne scars, hyperpigmentation and sun damage. This is a super light serum with zero scent. It retails for $12 and is absolutely worth every cent. I have been using this for 4 months and once this is done I will repurchase. This has helped to fade two stubborn acne scars. The process is slow and you have to be consistent with application but the results speak for themself!

Old vs. New: Skin Brightening Serums 🍊
I feel like regardless of who you are most people deal with some form of hyperpigmentation issues. Personally, I have slight acne prone skin which leads to dark marks once the blemish has healed. I work at Ulta and I’ve always heard good things from my coworkers about the Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum so I decided to buy a mini to try. Murad - I was pleasantly surprised to find the mini of this serum lasted me about two months! For $20 you don’t get a lot of product but a little bit does go a long way. I used one pump in the morning all over my face. It’s a gel consistency that does smooth over the face but it is a tad bit sticky. That being said when I put my moisturizer on top I didn’t notice that. I feel like within the first month I started seeing results which amazed me. A year ago I had major acne break outs all over my chin which left a lot of dark marks. Within a month of using this serum the dark marks lightened up about 60%! After about a month though I did see the product plateau. It could be the fact they were already pretty lightened up but I didn’t see much of a difference within month two. Because of this, the price of the product, and the fact that alcohol was the second ingredient on the list I decided not to repurchase this serum. Instead I was gifted the GOOD MOLECULES - Daily Brightening Serum Good Molecules - I’ve only used this a few times but so far I’m hopeful. The price point is a lot better! For $9 you get 1 oz of product. It contains beta arbutin which will target dullness and inhibit melanin production. The serum is a lot more lightweight. It absorbs really nice into the skin and doesn’t feel sticky or tacky like the Murad can. It’s a water based formula so it works well under make up. I also like the fact that it has hyaluronic acid so instead of drying your skin out like the alcohol in the Murad can this actually adds moisture into your skin. I also use this in the morning. As much as I liked the Murad and did see results I can’t justify the price nor do I like the fact alcohol is the second ingredient. I like the price and ingredient list a lot more on the Good Molecules serum. 🍊🧡

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
