azelaic acid is a super amazing ingredient in skincare ! it aids in:
even skin tone
target stubborn spots
soothes irritation & redness
PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster
🍃key ingredients 🍃
azelaic acid (skin brightening, texture improving)
glycerin (skin replenishing)
salicylic acid (exfoliant)
licorice root extract (skin soothing)
I really really love this product!! it claims to do what is listed above, and I must say that it does this. I use this every night in my routine. it is a cream texture which I was surprised with at first because I had previously used the NATURIUM - Azelaic Topical Acid 10%
which is a serum formula. before using this product, when I would pop my pimples...(I know I know, but we have all been there right?!), I would wake up with a huge scar on my face with redness everywhere! NOW, (for the occasional time that I do get pimples and pop them), the redness fades very soon after and I wake up looking like I never had a pimple there in the first place! my jawline tends to be prone to texture & pimples, and I believe that this product is a key reason as to why I don’t get many bumps or pimples there anymore!! I swear by this product and will definitely be trying to repurchase it in the future if my budget allows me to haha. PAULA’S CHOICE: 1oz for $36

Travel Essentials ✈️
Traveling with a carry-on means you can only bring the essentials with you, since you only get a quart bag! So what did I pack for a week ? 1. VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser A gentle, yet effective cleanser is a must-have for any routine. It takes off my layers of sunscreen after being out in the Florida sun, and leaves my skin feeling soft & clean! 2. CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream This is my go-to moisturizer for my dry skin. It’s thick and creamy. My skin feels soft, hydrated, and protected after using it. 3. Krave - The Beet Shield This is the best sunscreen that I’ve found! It’s so light yet hydrating. It’s not sticky or smelly. I re-apply every 2 hours when I’m out in the sun. 4. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster I typically rotate the azelaic acid booster with my tretinoin at night, but since I’m going to be in the sun so much, I decided to leave the tretinoin at home! This product helps my acne and post-inflammatory erythema. 5. L'ANZA - Healing Moisture Tamanu Cream Shampoo I love this shampoo. I only wash my hair every week, and this stuff is effective yet gentle. My hair feels soft and clean after using it! 6. L'ANZA - Healing Moisture Kukui Nut Conditioner This conditioner provides weightless hydration. I would typically use the L'ANZA - Moi Moi Moisturizing Mist after, but I didn’t have room in my quart bad so I’ll be using a small amount of the conditioner as my leave-in! The silicone travel containers are from Amazon! They work amazing and allow me to bring any product I want! What are your travel essentials?

Got Dark Spots?! These Are My Fav Ingredients 💯
I struggle a lot with post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation! I always get dark spots post breakouts. Once I started focusing on brightening my skin, it was a game changer! My complexion began to look so much more even and less spotty. These are my favorite brightening Ingredients that faded my dark spots! 💫 AHA's AHA's like lactic, mandelic, & especially glycolic acid all work by urging along your skins natural shedding process. It speeds up cell turnover to fade spots, brighten, & even skin. It also helps with skin texture and pores. But AHAs can be irritating, especially at higher percentages so it's important to do your research before buying a product. If you're new to exfoliating acids, I'd start with a gentle formulation. VITAMIN C Vitamin C has been shown to impede melanin production, which help fade dark spots & lead to a more even-toned complexion. It's also a great antioxidant & has MANY other anti-aging and skin smoothing benefits. And it can be used daily, which overtime will result in a dramatic change in your skin! NIACINAMIDE This is a powerhouse ingredient that can be used by almost anyone! To get a full run-down on niacinamide, PLEASE check out my post on it! Like Vitamin C, It also helps to slow down the production of Melanin & lighten dark patches. But it's less likely to be as irritating, and has more benefits and faster results. Especially for acne-prone skin. HYDROQUINONE Hydroquinone is a controversial ingredient, but has been found as the most effective ingredient for evening out your skin tone & fading dark spots. If formulated right, (which most hydroquinone products in the U.S are) then it's safe and super effective. Hydroquinone, again helps limit skin from creating an excess amount of melanin. The strongest you can get it over the counter is 2%, but prescription it's commonly 4% or even higher. ALPHA ARBUTIN Alpha Arbutin's sole purpose is skin lightening. It's a skin whitener, often used as an gentler alternative for hydroquinone. And It reduces melanin formation, improving the appearance of discoloration. I'm new to this ingredient, but I love it! Alpha Arbutin also pairs GREAT with Vitamin C, and Niacinamide for maximum brightening effects. RETINOL Retinoid is a popular, multi-tasking ingredient that works by prompting surface skin cells to turn over & die, making way for new skin cells. And it curbs the production of Melanin. It's one of the most researched ingredients on the market, and has great benefits for aging, and even acne prone skin. You also want to start at a low concentration of retinol, because it can be irritating and drying. AZELAIC ACID Azelaic acid is an underrated ingredient. It gently works wonders on hyperpigmentation & acne prone skin. It targets certain pigment production, & fades dark spots without lightening the normal skin tone. It does this by targeting melanin. AND it's safe during pregnancy! Side note: NONE OF THESE WILL WORK WELL IF YOU DONT USE SUNSCREEN ⚠️❗

Cosmetically elegant niacinamide serum
Cosmetically elegant niacinamide serum
By now, you already know how much I enjoy having a niacinamide serum in my routines. It’s such a great ingredient for the skin with so many benefits. The latest niacinamide product that I’ve been using is the NATURIUM - Niacinamide Serum 12% Plus Zinc 2% . This is a concentrated niacinamide and zinc serum to help reduce the look of enlarged pores, regulate sebum production, purify congested skin, and refine the appearance of uneven texture. This is such a cosmetically elegant niacinamide serum that. It has a smooth, viscous, and opaque gel texture that easily spreads over the skin. It dries down fairly quick to a hydrating skin finish with minimal stickiness. It layered well over products and I didn’t have any issues with pilling. There’s no fragrance added so there’s no discernible scent to me. I expected this to perform similarly to most of the niacinamide serums that I’ve tried in the past. The results I noticed was that it helped reduce my pore size and redness, regulated my sebum production, and it made my skin feel so smooth post application. My skin also looked slightly more even toned over time. What I was most curious about was whether this would dry me out and cause breakouts. Well, it did unfortunately. The first week of using this daily in my morning routine was great. The second week though, my skin started to feel dry and I was breaking out everywhere. I assumed I was purging. I reduced my usage to every other day and that helped to reduce the dryness and breakouts. Eventually, I paused using it for about a week, and my skin returned to normal. I’m still using it but only a couple times a week which allows me to get the benefits but without the negative effects. Overall, my experience with this was decent and enjoyable. It’s a nicely formulated niacinamide serum that does what it claims to do. Unfortunately, this caused my skin to react similarly to the ordinary’s niacinade serum so I’m on the fence about repurchasing. Feel free to check this out if you’re in the market for a new niacinamide serum. If you’ve tried this, what are your thoughts on it?

my love, my life

im OBSESSED with this. i bought the PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster a few months ago when i was really struggling with redness and a generally uneven skin tone. i initially couldn’t figure out how to use this without it having issues with some of my other skincare as i had been mixing it with my moisturizer. i find that it works better for me by itself, applied after serums and before my moisturizer this is meant to target uneven skin tone, any spots, and is meant to soothe irritation. it took about two months of consistent use before i noticed a real difference, but the redness in my cheeks has really evened out and now i only have flare ups sometimes rather than every single week. and when i’m having a breakout, i spot treat with this and it really works wonders this is $36 for 1 oz, and i really CANNOT recommend this enough

REPAIR UR BARRIER
REPAIR UR BARRIER
Great Barrier Relief has done wonders for my moisture barrier. Your moisture barrier is the outermost layer of the skin and it’s the first layer to help protect your skin. The main function of your moisture barrier is to keep bacteria out and to secure moisture in ••Krave - Great Barrier Relief Tamanu Oil is one major ingredient in this serum. This oil has remarkable skin-regenerative properties and was traditionally used to heal wounds an cure a variety of skin problems and ailments. •• Safflower and Rosehip Seed Oils are both plant-based oils that are higher in linoleic acid than oleic acid. Oils with a higher linoleic acid helps restore any damaged skin-barriers. This consistency helps to melt the formula into your skin without making your skin greasy looking. •• Other key ingredients are NMF, Ceramides, Phytosterol, and Squalane. This ingredients mimc a healthy skin barrier. These elements are also naturally found in your skin when it’s not compromised. When involve stressors to the skin, these ingredients tend to escape your skin and you become vulnerable. •• Niacinamide (which is Vitamin B3) is highly effective for barrier repairs, anti-aging, skin-brightening, and acne prevention. It’s a versatile ingredient that is also one of the most gentle active ingredients that delivers benefits without irriration.

Products that have Calmed my Tomato Skin
Products that have Calmed my Tomato Skin
Dr. Jart’s Cicapair Treatment with SPF: I can’t rave about this product enough. It’s a nice medium-thick cream that instantly- and i mean instantly- takes away the redness. I use this mainly on cheeks where they are the most red. I like to tap this on my skin as opposed to smearing it around. Did I mention it has SPF 30? It does, indeed! Versed Nix It Solution: I am extremely acne-prone and can usually feel a pimple coming on. At first, I only used this on the acne I already had and was disappointed that it didn’t work well as I had hoped. However, I noticed the directions (read the directions, people!) said this is used best on pimples before they emerge. Since doing so, I find that this really does “nix it”. :-) Caudalie Vinopure Skin Perfecting Serum: Its super-thin and fluid consistency makes one pump all you need to cover your whole face and neck. This also has AHA and salicylic acid to help with blemishes, and I find that this helps calm my breakouts and keeps any future ones from happening. I will say that you have to apply this quickly because it absorbs fast and it gets tacky- I assume the tackiness is to help absorb the products that come after. For those with combination to oily skin, this is for you.

Krave - Great Barrier Relief I have combo/sensitive skin. Because my skin is sensitive my skin barrier can get wrecked every now and then and then my products hurt to use and it will open the gate up for more acne. Ever since using this product, I feel like I haven’t had that problem once. It honestly is becoming a holy grail!! Tbh I was surprised by the scent. It’s like nutty??? It’s not bad at all - I was just surprised!!

Let’s talk hyperpigmentation
Let’s talk hyperpigmentation
Lately something I’ve been struggling with is hyperpigmentation on my lower cheek area. To fix this I’ve been trying the Paula’s Choice 10% azelaic acid. This is meant to reduce the look of blemishes, smooth bumpy texture, calm redness, and steadily fade uneven skin tone & post-breakout marks. In terms of texture, this is like an ointment cream that applies very nicely to the skin, and it’s slightly on the thicker side. I’ve been using this for about 3 weeks so far and I do like it! I’ve seen slow results, but I think it’s something you need to use consistently. I don’t think it’s a miracle product that works overnight, but over time I’ve seen a decrease in redness on my cheek area and my acne spots are fading quicker than usual. I would recommend this product since thus far, I’ve only seen positive results and this product is slowly evening out my skin texture! I love using this under my moisturizer at night and feel like it layers well with other skincare products. It’s a little pricey at $36 but I do think it’s worth the price since it’s effective but also gentle. I overall think this product is definitely worth it, especially since it’s Paula’s Choice and it contains a lot of ~good for you~ ingredients. I would rate this 4/5 stars.
