COSRX - BHA Blackhead Power Liquid
I received this product from the cherie best post leaderboard and I am so happy that this was the prize !! I have oily skin with large pores and blackheads all in my t zone. I have tried so many products, and although I have only been using this for a few days, I have high hopes and have already seen some results. ingredients
willow bark water (controls oil and redness)
betaine salicylate (fights bacteria and cleans clogged pores)
niacinamide (brightens skin and improves appearance of pores)
what this product claims to do
gentle exfoliates dead skin cells
refines the look of enlarged pores
keeps pores clean of impurities
my experience this is definitely a first impressions post since i’ve only used this product a few times, BUT, I am seeing progress !!! whenever I use this product, my pores look cleaner (almost a matte look) and my skin feels softer. this product is a BHA (beta hydroxy acid), so it is oil soluble and works beneath the skin to target impurities. a little definitely goes a long way !! it has a water like consistency and one pump can easily cover my whole face. it doesn’t sting or irritate my skin either! on the box, it says to start using it once a week and then increase to 2-3 times a week as you feel needed. however, i’ve been using it both day and night most days because this product is not only super gentle, but my skin is also very used to BHA’s. I am so excited to see how this product will continue to work in the future and I will definitely post another update on how it’s been working for me. ULTA- $24 for 3.38oz

Reviewing My Followers Skincare Routines pt. 1
Hey y’all! In today’s post I’ll be reviewing my followers skincare routines! I went through some of y’all’s accounts in search of some routines, then messaged everyone to make sure they were okay with me using their routines in this post! This is only pt. 1 because this post got wayyy to long to include everyone at once! Let me start by saying I’m not an esthetician or dermatologist, nor have I ever claimed to be. I am just a fellow skincare lover who knows a lot about ingredients in skincare. We’re starting off with @Chloe_McRae. Sometimes she decides to double cleanse, and when she does she starts with the#Holifrog - Kissimmee Vitamin F Therapy Balmy Wash[products]#[FourStars] which is $42 for 2.5 fl oz. This has a ton of great hydrating oils, as well as Vitamin F, which is great for helping cell turnover. I would say it’s a great first cleanse for those with dry skin. Next she uses theDRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample which is $32. I would say this is a good cleanser. The cleansing agents are gentle and non stripping, and it also has glycerin which is hydrating, and cantaloupe fruit extract which is a hydrating extract full of antioxidants. Other than that, this is a pretty basic cleanser. Next she uses the HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial l which is $58. Because the name is confusing, it’s a gel face mask. This stuff looks gorgeous and the ingredients are too. Along with AHA and BHA, it has aloe and rose water which help your skin to retain moisture. I don’t think it’s worth $58, but it’s pretty good. Next is the PEACH & LILY - Wild Dew Treatment Essence which is $39 for 3.38 fl oz. This essence has glycerin, Nicinamide, and Hylaronic acid. For $39 I expected a lot more. In general, essence is less effective than a serum, so this seems a little expensive for what you get. Then comes theDRUNK ELEPHANT - Sweet Biome Fermented Sake Hydrating Spray which is $42. Yes, $42 for a face mist. Now looking at the ingredients this has glycerin and a small amount of Hylaronic acid. The rest of the ingredients are extracts. Thankfully there isn’t fragrance, but this is a no because it’s so expensive. And finally is the COSRX - BHA Blackhead Power Liquid which is $24. Really this has some Willow water and Nicinamide and that’s it. Okay I freaked out at this point. Nowhere in this routine is sunscreen or moisturizer!!! Nooooo!! We need less acids and more of the basics. Overall I’d say this routine has too many steps. I think you could simplify down to a double cleanse, a cheap but good serum with Hylaronic acid and Nicinamide which seem to be the ingredients that work well for your skin, and the a moisturizer and some spf. Our next routine comes from @WillWorkforMascara. She starts her routine with theCeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin w is $17. This product is great for oily skin, which she has. It has glycerin, nicinamide, and Hylaronic acid so it’s super hydrating. Next she usesThe Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution witch is $8.70. Along with glycolic acid, it has aloe vera water and glycerin. Some people think it’s overly stripping, but for oily skin its great. Now this is where this routine becomes international. She goes in with theMUJI - Boosting Essence Lotion which is $7 for 50 ml. This essence has aloe vera juice and glycerin. It does have quite a bit of fragrance though which makes it a no from me. Next she goes in with the#Pearlessence - Argan Oil + Vitamin E facial oil[products]#[ThreeStars] which is $11.89 for 1.83 fl oz. This product has two ingredients. Vitamin E and Argan oil. Now this is where we really go international. #Human Nature - Sunflower Eye Cream[products]#[TwoStars] and found out that 295 Cuban Peso is $12.29. Now as for the ingredients this eye cream has sunflower oil and glycerin. And fragrance. Fragrance can especially be irritating around the eye area so this is another no. Instead try some thing likeTHE inkey LIST - Caffeine Eye Cream She also uses a eyebrow and eyelash oil called Peach Thy Lash which is 150 Cuban Peso or $6.25. I don’t know anything about this kind of product so I can’t really say if it works. And finally is theLANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask which is $22. This mask has Vitamin C, Hylaronic acid, and glycerin. It seems good to me, but this sort of product is more about the experience, and I haven’t tried it. Again! We need moisturizer and sunscreen! This one also has too many steps so let’s simplify it to cleanser, toner, moisturizer, sunscreen, eyelash oil, and lip mask. Unfortunately this post would be super long if I included everyone, so look out for pt. 2 coming soon! Please cheer for this post if you liked it, comment below your holy grail skincare products, and follow me to join the family and for similar content! -Mae

A struggling month
Since my progress post I’d figure I’d show that even those who have promoted they’ve healed their acne that it may and can be just for a moment, a month or a year and things can change in your life that could eventually alter your skin yet again. During the summer my skin was doing real good except the occasional monthly pimples from my period. However these past 2 months I’ve been breaking out along my jawline, chin, mouth and a little on the cheeks. It’s been pretty frustrating because I felt like I was me again and then boom I’m back to feeling insecure. I am currently testing new products to see a difference and changing/adding supplements and vitamins to help and will hope to update in a few months ! All I can say is that I am unemotional about this round of acne... and I think it helps to have a great support system to keep you positive because at the end of the day we are all beautiful no matter what may appear on our faces 😊 New products: COSRX - BHA Blackhead Power Liquid Helping with my pores and bringing my acne to surface Beauty of Joseon - Calming Serum : Green Tea + Panthenol Soothing my inflammatory acne YEOUTH - Retinol Serum with Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E and Aloe Vera Really excited to finally add a retinol and this one is great- not $$$ and absorbs nicely (won’t see full effects until another 2-3 weeks) Apart from that my routine has stayed the same and the rest of my face is pretty clear!

What’s is it? An effective, watery serum that feels like an essence to target blackheads, pores and acne!! This is a great option for blackheads and I enjoy using it because it helps with the sebaceous filaments on my nose! The only downside is I have to use this daily or they creep back. It’s $22 and definitely worth it if you’re looking for something to help with blackheads. It’s gentle and offers some hydration for an acid serum. I’ve been using it for about 3 months and I enjoy it because it’s never irritating and gentle enough to use daily. I would pair it with an AHA serum on alternating days because I don’t think this does enough for my skin and texture... and I more so reach for this as a blackhead treatment! Caudalie Vinopure Pore Minimizing Serum
Caudalie Vinopure Pore Minimizing Serum
CAUDALIE Vinopure Natural Salicylic Acid Pore Minimizing Serum What it claims: This is a pore minimizing serum that use salicylic acid and grape see polyphenols to help clear out your pores and all the gunk in your skin along with refining the texture of your skin. This is also uses essential oils with carrier oils to help with blemishes, excess oil and also calming the skin. This is going to be a strong serum to be applied at night time before bed. BHA is salicylic acid and it is the acid that goes deep into the pores to “unglue” the gunk that is clogged below and tighten up the look of your pores. This is targeted for those with acne below the surface especially for black heads. This can definitely be drying to the skin if you use it too much so just a heads up! It is a thinner consistency and goes on pretty smoothly. This has a peppermint rosemary scent based off of the oils in the formulation but nothing too strong. Pretty much the run down! My thoughts: I actually feel like this serum is really effective but I do have one concern. It has alcohol has the 3rd ingredient. It does say that its plant originated but I still feel that this overtime could be drying with alcohol above all other important ingredients. The thing is though that this serum is really effective for my skin and has really helped combat some of my nasty break out. I love BHA for nasty break outs and I really think this has a good blend for that. I wouldn’t recommend using this more than a few times a week though especially in the winter time. The weather is so dry your skin could very well become over exfoliated with this product. I would probably not recommend this for people with more dry and sensitive skin. But I would recommend trying this out and following up with a moisturizer to lock in the hydration for those who have more oily and acne prone skin. I know that some people swear by this product and some not so much!  This is only $49 which I find super reasonably priced for how expensive some of the competing products are! So this is definitely worth a shot to help those looking to minimize the look of pores and clear out some black heads and acne below the surface!CAUDALIE - Vinopure Skin Perfecting Serum

Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum
Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum
The Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum was gifted to me by the brand but the opinions are my own. This serum is meant to smooth and even the skin, and reduce the appearance of pores. It also claims to have benefits to the skin barrier and helps keep skin hydrated. It is targeted toward all skin types, but especially those with large pores that they are looking to minimize. The texture is a watery serum that absorbs into the skin quickly. It doesn’t leave a sticky feeling like some niacinamide does. I think it feels soothing on the skin and has never caused any tingling for me. I was using this AM and PM for a few months now and have seen good results. The pores on my nose were noticeably smaller and seemed to become clogged less often. My skin never became dry from using this either. I use a few other products for evening skin tone so I’m not really sure if this had any effects on that. I also think it may have helped keep some acne at bay. The one thing about this serum is that it is just niacinamide. It does not contain zinc like many of the other niacinamide serums on the market. I personally don’t think zinc does anything for my skin so losing it wasn’t a big deal to me. I really had no issues with this product. The one downside is that niacinamide leaves such mild results so I wouldn’t buy this if you’re looking to be wowed by results. It does work, but it’s just not something you use once and think is amazing. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who is having issues with large pores and possibly acne. It’s really mild, has no fragrance and is just a bare bones serum which is perfect for sensitive skin. It can work on dry skin which is a benefit for me as many products make dry skin worse. This is $6 for 30ml so I think it is worth giving a try. If you are in the market for a new niacinamide, this would probably be the one I would try based on price and efficacy!GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Serum

Pore Minimizing BHA Serum
Pore Minimizing BHA Serum
Pore care is tricky. Blackheads I find to be one of the most difficult skin conditions that I've dealt with personally, as they sit deep within the pore and can be hard to remove. One of the few products I've found that help to diminish the appearance of my pores and reduce blackheads is the COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid. The product is marketed to help clear blackheads and minimize the appearance of pores. The texture is watery, with a slightly oily finish. I use this after cleansing my face, sometimes on bare skin and sometimes after a minimal layer of a pH balancing toner. After application, I wait for at least 10 minutes before applying any other skincare. Like any active, BHAs are pH sensitive, so it is important to leave it undisturbed by any other skincare that might affect the pH of your skin immediately after application, which is why the wait time is important. I'm currently on my third bottle of this product, and it continues to be my favorite pore minimizing serum. It does a great job at reducing the acne all over my face, and it also helps to clear up any clogged pores I am experiencing. If you are looking for something to assist with enlarged pores, blackheads, and general uneven skin texture, this is an excellent product for all of those concerns! I would recommend this to all skin types, although sensitive skin types should be cautious due to the exfoliating properties. For the price, 100ml/$22, it is one of the most cost effective BHA products, and is absolutely worth the time and investment. 5/5 stars!

AHA Whitehead Power Liquid for Blackheads??
AHA Whitehead Power Liquid for Blackheads??
So this product is formulated to use apple water and AHA to exfoliate the skin and reduce oiliness. I know it’s called the whitehead power liquid and CosRx has a product like this specifically for blackheads but hear me out when I say this product is great for both! It’s a clear slippery consistency and has a light smell of apples! I’ve used this product for 6 months and here’s what I think: ★ My Experience ★ I decided to try this product because I wanted to try a chemical exfoliant and this one was advertised for oily skin. I have issues with whiteheads often and thought this might be the perfect solution. At some point a couple months ago, I found blackheads on my nose and tried this product on it and they were gone after a couple of days! I like this product because it’s really effective at exfoliating the skin both for white and blackheads. My only issue is it did sting a little but that’s most likely because of my sensitive skin caused by prescription acne products. I only use this once in a while because of this. ★ Overall Thoughts ★ I love this product and wish I could use it more often! I recommend it to those who deal with oiliness and have the occasional blackhead because it’s a great hack to just buy one product instead of getting both the whitehead and blackhead power liquid. I wouldn’t recommend this to those with sensitive skin as it is irritating and if you get more blackheads than whiteheads, I’d try the other CosRx product as it might be more helpful. Why I LOVE Salicylic Acid!
Why I LOVE Salicylic Acid!
I have combination oily skin that has been breaking out more often lately. My skin concern as of lately has been acne and trying to reduce the marks left behind afterwards. My favorite ingredient to help with acne is salicylic acid because it acts as an exfoliant that removes dead skin cells and reveals smoother skin by breaking the connections between cells and allows the removal of the outermost layer of skin. It has the ability to improve skin’s texture by exfoliating both the outer and inner skin layers, which reduces unevenness and encourages skin turnover. This also helps quickly reduce painful blemishes and pimples because it reduces oil, clogged pores and swelling. My favorite product that contains salicylic acid is the Murad - Outsmart Acne Clarifying Treatment ! I have seen a lot of beauty bloggers on Instagram posting about the benefits of salicylic acid, so I was super excited when this product was a free gift from Ulta as part of their Diamond Day/Perk Day. I’ve tried other products with salicylic acid so decided to give this one a try too! I use this product as my PM serum a couple of times (usually 2-3) a week so that I don’t experience the drying side effects that can come with overusing it. I’ve been using it for a couple of months now and have noticed a drastic improvement in the number of breakouts I get and the amount of time they stay for. It is a lightweight gel serum that is soothing so I think it’d be harder to get those side effects (especially since the directions say to use it AM and PM, but I like using other serums also, depending on my skin needs). I’ve noticed my skin has recovered from breakouts faster and I haven’t been getting breakouts as often. . Price: $44 for 1.7 oz
