Quarantine Glowup: Underarm Edition 🙋🏼♀️
A part of our body that we really tend to overlook is our armpits, especially in the wintertime. I have always been so self conscious about my underarms because they have always been dark and bumpy. During this quarantine time that we have, I am using it to get my underarms in shape for summer! The first thing I am doing regularly is using either a physical exfoliant (Frank Body’s Coffee Scrub) or a chemical exfoliant (The Ordinary’s Lactic Acid) on my underarms 2-3 times per week. Both of these are very gentle on the skin, but I still feel like both of them clear out my pores and help reduce the bumps. I am also trying to treat them like the skin on my face and moisturize my underarms EVERY day! I am using Gold Bond’s Rough and Bumpy Skin Lotion. I have used this for KP bumps on my legs for years and it is great for moisturizing and also providing additional exfoliation! Another thing I have started over this time is using a natural deodorant! I sweat a lot and struggle with odor, so this is a big step for me! There has not been a ton of research done on the topic, but I have seen some articles stating that bumpy underarms are sometimes caused by aluminum buildup. So I am switching to Kopari, which is a natural, coconut oil-based deodorant. I figure that the coconut oil will help with moisturizing my underarms as well! I got the original coconut milk scent and I am very pleased with it so far! The smell is pleasant and it feels quite nourishing for my underarms. I haven’t noticed an overwhelming amount of sweating either! I have only been following this routine for about a week now, but I am extremely pleased with all of the products I have used so far and I am excited to see the results in a few weeks!

What’s your favorite natural deodorant?
I am on the hunt for a good natural deodorant! I religiously used Secret Outlast clear gel unscented deodorant for years. It was the only one that I could find that worked and didn’t leave a white cast on my skin! Recently it’s been irritating my skin so I’ve decided to look for a new, natural deodorant. I have tried NATIVE - Unscented and I was very disappointed. So many people rave about the brand but it left me feeling self conscious about body odor. I ended up returning it after the recommended trial period. It didn’t work well for me. I am now using KOPARI - Coconut Deo and I really like it! It’s a bit sticky and for some reason, my deodorant started leaking from the tube, but it works well and I really like how simple and natural the smell is. If you have any recommendations, please leave them in the comments!
It’s a no for me
I was so stoked to jump on the natural deodorant bandwagon. I love the package, the texture, the light coconut scent.... so I figured what could go wrong?? As soon as I started using this, it took less than 24 hours to develop a rash on my underarms. It burned, itched, and scratched unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Huge bummer, and now I’m scared to try any other similar products. Am I alone in this???KOPARI - Coconut Deo

I’ve been on the mission to find the perfect products for shaving and I’ve finally done it! I have dark, relatively thick hair and I’m prone to razor burn. These are the 4 products that give me silky smooth legs every single time without fail. I start by jumping in the shower and exfoliating with: frank body - Original Coffee Scrub I have been completely obsessed with the original Frank Body scrub for yeeeears. It smells exactly like coffee and leaves my skin so soft and smooth. Next, use the eos - Vanilla Bliss Shave Cream - I love the vanilla scent and it does not irritate my sensitive skin! I’ve tried many different shave creams and this is my favorite. It is just thick enough and helps the razor glide well. The razor I use does matter - my favorite is the #Gillette - Pro Glide Razor[products]#[FiveStars] Yes this is a men’s razor but it gives me THE closest shave and again, I don’t break out. I used to be unable to shave back to back days without major razor burn/irritation but this razor solves all my problems. It is pricey but I’ll tell you a secret - you can find the blade refills at Costco! I also love the FlexBall that helps get in the areas around my knees and behind my ankles. Finally, right out of the shower I’ll apply my holy grail lotion Kiehl's - Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter to damp skin. This. Lotion. Is. Addicting. My best friend introduced me to it about 10 years ago and I’ve been hooked ever since. It is expensive but IMO worth every penny. The lotion has a luxurious whipped texture and the scent is subtle but delicious. #CheriePartner

Chicken Skin Be Gone!
For years I have struggled with “chicken skin” on my upper arms and chest. There were times that it was so bad that I was bullied and called a “chicken” both for my chicken-like skin and my acne (my acne resembled chicken pox at times). After a while I came to accept it as part of my skin. Until recently! These pictures were taken approximately five weeks apart. As you can see in the top corners of the first picture I had notiecabld discoloration and bumps (“chicken skin”). It is still not completely gone but overall my skin has gotten much better and the bumps have faded significantly. If you have this and are wondering what this is it is called Keratosis Pilaris. Keratosis pilaris is a common, harmless skin condition that causes small, hard bumps that may make your skin feel like sandpaper. You may have heard it called “chicken skin.” The bumps are often light-colored. They usually appear on your upper arms, thighs, and buttocks, sometimes with redness or swelling. It’s appearance can be reduced by using chemically exfoliating products that contain ingredients such as salicylic acid. I have sensitive skin so I wanted my routine to be fairly simple and contain minimal products. Every day that I showered I began with the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne wash on my arms. Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash I chose this because it’s a product I have used before and it didn’t contain a harsh percentage of Salicylic acid. After I showered and toweled off I used the Gold Bond Rough & Bumpy skin lotion. GOLD BOND - Rough & Bumpy Skin Once a week I used The Ordinary Peeling Solution for nine minutes before applying the Gold Bond lotion. It’s important to make sure you have thoroughly washed off the Neutrogena face wash because if you did not then the Ordinary Peeling Face Mask with form a weird lather and can potentially irritate your skin. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution It was definitely a lot of work to do this on top of my acne routine as well and I didn’t see overnight results but overall I would say it was totally worth it! Pro tip: if you have chicken skin make sure you MOISTURIZE! A common cause of chicken skin is dry skin.
🌙 Goodbye Chestne & Backne 🌙
The one thing I hate about the summer months, especially when you have very humid weather, is the fact that sweat, oil, and bacteria often lead to body acne. Unfortunately for me I have extremely reactive skin. So even one pimple on my chest or back is like a red beacon that can be seen from outer space. However, while researching body moisturizers to help ease folliculitis on my legs I found a secret weapon that has completely erased my body acne, so let’s talk about it! 🌙🌙🌙🌙 GOLD BOND - Rough & Bumpy Skin is a highly moisturizing unscented cream with several active ingredients that help unclog pores, exfoliate, and speed up cell turnover. It contains a nice blend of AHA, BHA, and PHA chemical exfoliants. Since the formula is thick and super moisturizing and unscented it shouldn’t leave your skin irritated. 🌙🌙🌙🌙 Since the skin on my body is so reactive I was skeptical that this product would be too harsh for me. However, after using this for two months applying it every night to my chest and back I’ve seen a dramatic improvement in dark spots and occurrence of acne blemishes. For the first time in many years my back and chest is completely clear (to note my body acne has always been VERY mild, but annoying nonetheless). As for the folliculitis on my legs, I still get stubborn clogged pores but no where near as bad as it used to be. Quick word of warning for all you sensitive skinned humans, don’t apply this after shaving, it burns! The only downside I have encountered is that it can make your skin peel which I guess is a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you want to look at it. If you apply it at night you shouldn’t have a problem the next day. This is safe to use everyday, but please apply sunscreen if you apply it in the A.M. 🌙🌙🌙🌙 So have you tried this little miracle worker yet? If so what did you think?
My *old skincare routine!!
1. CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser Started using this couple months ago, I would say it gets the job done. Nothing bad to say about it, I’m sure there’s equally good cleansers out there. I love the price too!! 2. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% This product is pretty good, it’s like my 3rd bottle and it does a good job at blurring out pores and brighten up my skin. I had pretty bad hormonal acne on the right side of my face for over a year and while it hasn’t cleared up all the way, niacinamide is a must in a skincare routine. Price is great!! 3. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Time to Wake Up Ok so I have mixed feelings on this, while it HAS brightened up my skin, along with some freckles I had on my nose, my hyperpigmentation/dark spots aren’t fully gone. I know it takes time and I have to be patient but it is my second purchase of this duo and I just thought my dark spots would be better by now! I will keep using it though. Vitamin C is another essential in skin care. Although it is a bit pricey (like most drunk elephant products), it is WAY cheaper than the actual Vitamin C serum they have and since Vitamin C tends to go bad after a while, I prefer buying this since I know I will be using it all. I only use this during the day!! 4. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Ok my first time using this was around October 2019, it made me purge which is normal when using acids. I’m not gonna say it hasn’t worked, it does leave your skin super soft and exfoliated but my results aren’t as good as others I’ve seen as far as brightening hyperpigmentation. Could be because my acne is hormonal and it more so had to do with my nutrition and the inside of my body. I am still going to use it all up and see if it works better now that I switched up my “diet”. I use this about once a week, sometimes twice, it does tingle sometimes. Never dermaplane your face and use this after!! Trust me. Also use sunscreen!! Never had a bad reaction or burn with this. 5. CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This moisturizer is pretty good, it gets the job done and doesn’t leave my skin greasy. CeraVe works for most skin types!! 6. Clean&Clear - Persa-Gel 10 Acne Medication Spot Treatment I bought this on a whim without doing proper research because I was tired of my acne and after I bought it, I learned 10% is way too high for someone who’s never used benzoyl peroxide before. Thankfully my skin didn’t react badly, it did the job at drying out some active acne I had, the drying wasn’t too bad. I wouldn’t use it more than twice a week, I would let my skin heal and only use it when I had active break outs. I suggest getting a lower % if you’ve never used benzoyl peroxide. Any adjustments I should make?? *not included, my sunscreen, which I do use everytime I leave my house.

Spa routine on a budget
I honestly love feeling like I’m at a spa just relaxing but imagine doing that for a way lower price!!!! 1. I first start off by washing my face so it can be clean and prepped for what I’m going to use. I use the DR. BRONNER'S - Baby Unscented Pure-Castile Liquid Soap this is so gentle on the skin and not stripping and provides the moisture that your skin can be lacking. If I’m breaking out heavily or have dark spots I use GOOD MOLECULES - Clarify & Cleanse Bar this clears up my skin in about two days and feels great on my skin 2. Next I then go in with SheaMoisture - African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Mask this mud mask is AMAZING. You can see it go into my pores and get the hunk that’s deep in them!! When I washed this mask off my skin was sooo smooth and my pores shrunk a little as well which is amazing for me because I struggle with my pores. 3. I then go in with DICKINSON'S - Dickinson's Enhanced Witch Hazel Alcohol Free Hydrating Toner this toner is not as stripping as the other ones because it is alcohol free, and I know some people don’t like witch hazel but the antioxidant properties have helped my fungal acne so much and my irritation. 4. I then choose a serum. The serums I have are not listed on the app yet but I got the Revolution skincare from ulta.com and I got the retinol from dollar tree ( creds to my boyfriend because I made him pick it up for me) I don’t use both BECAUSE YOU SHLULD NEVER MIX THE TWO INGREDIENTS. It depends on how my skin looks that helps determine which one to use. 5. While that is sitting on my face to soak in I move to my lips. I first use e.l.f. - e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator it can be a little harsh in the lips but gets so much off. I then move on with wet n wild - Perfect Pout Sleeping Lip Mask and honestly such an amazing lip mask for sooooo cheap it’s the next day and my lips are still extremely moisturized. 6. I then go in with the under eye roller (also from dollar tree) I keep it in the fridge so I can get the cooling sensation that my eyes need. I also know that it can be weird buying skincare from dollar tree just be careful and mindful of ingredients I used these products last night and woke up with no irritation ( and this is coming from a person with extremely sensitive skin ) and no breakouts. 7. I then go in with my teeth whitener (also from dollar tree, when I say on a budget I mean it 😂) it works so well and haven’t notice any sensitivity !! 8. I then put on my The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA which can sting just a tiny bit because of my sensitive skin but works AMAZING!!! Overall, if someone says not to use something but it works for you don’t listen what works for your skin works for you! Everyone’s skin is different and unique. Always except advice no one should judge and make sure to have fun.

CeraVe-Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin
Newly introduced to The Ordinary products, and upon researching these are the first products I’ll be trying out . My skin is combination, I only occasionally get a little oily on my nose, I get about 2 breakouts hormonally around my time of the month but I also have KP on both cheeks resulting in hyperpigmentation. Although KP doesn’t have a cure I’m hoping to gain maintenance and clarity of my dark spots.

Update on my skin!!
Hey guys, firstly i want to thank you guys for cheered me a lot and commented your opinions on my last post. I kind of change my routine. I stopped using the ordinary peeling solution since i think Aztec indian healing clay works better on my skin and I didn’t want to over exfoliate my skin. I also added rosehip oil to my night routine and i swear to god my face have been smooth like a butter. Well it’s been smoother than before. And i have been using sunscreens and these are the two have (the one from the body shop and the one from the Bioré) both works good i prefer the one from body shop since i felt like the Bioré has a bit of alcohol cuz i smell some while i applied it. Hopes my tips work on your skin too! Please comment if u have any ideas or tips 💗

Nighttime Skin Care Routine
CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin Mentioned in my previous post: my holy grail for facial cleansers! Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Hydrating Cleansing Gel I used the Neutrogena hydro boost cleansing gel as a double cleanser courteous to my Cerave hydrating cleanser. The main reason I double cleanse is to use the first cleanser (hydro boost) to take off an remaining makeup, diet, oil and toxins from the air before doing a deep cleanser (Cerave). I recommend double cleansing because it personally has helped my skin become cleaner and clearer! you can double cleanse with the same cleanser or you can use two different ones! The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% toning solution is an exfoliating toner to help with textured skin. Since it’s a exfoliating toner, it’s recommended to be used every other night (preferable). This is my favorite toner I have used so far! Personally, the exfoliating portion of it has helped my skin become smoother and dewy. I use this product about every other night. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This chemical peel has been my favorite exfoliating product so far. This easy-at-home 10 mins peeling solution has improved my textured skin and reduced the appearance of my acne scarring! I would recommend if you have highly sensitive skin to do a patch test first, because after all it is a chemical peel. It does tingle and have a bit of burning sensation when first applied, but goes away within a couple minutes of use (that means it’s working ;)) The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% my holy grail serum for my skin care routine. I have been using this since day one of starting my skincare routine and it’s been amazing! I get a hint of red after using my skin care products and thus has helped reduce the redness my face produces after my routine! this serum is also wonderful to help the appearance of your pores look smaller and helps with uneven skin tone! 100/10 recommend this product to be in your skincare routine! Clean&Clear - Advantage Acne Spot Treatment I’m not a fan of Clean and Clear products, but after discovering this spot treatment, they have gained a little respect from me. I struggle with those are to get rid of cystic pimples and have never found a treatment strong enough to make them disappear until I started using this product. This product made my monster of a pimple completely disappear after one use! I continue to use it on others and it has made them disappear within a short amount of time too! My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
