ALPHA ARBUTIN TO TREAT DARK SPOTS
So you might’ve heard of the new kid on the block people have been raving about, The Ordinary’s Aloha Arbutin 2% + HA. I honestly love how The Ordinary just chucks hyaluronic acid into so many formulas 🙌🏽 This product is great for alllll skin types. Alpha Arbutin reduces the looks of spots and hyperpigmentation. It's used at a high two percent concentration versus a standard concentration of one percent and supported with a form of hyaluronic acid for enhanced delivery. What a lot of people don’t mention is that this also contains lactic acid at a low amount to lightly dissolve dead skin and further assist in reducing dark spots. Overall this product didn’t break me out and worked well, but I definitely prefer to stick to using my retinoid instead for my oily and acne-prone skin! Btw I have a seperate post on my holy grail retinoid which you’ve probably never seen before! Check it out Pic by @skinpatrol_ on Instagram
Beautycation_by_shrutiSo glad it’s not working for you!Azaleic acid boosts the fading and works amazing if you use it alternatively (morning/night) with Alpha Arbutin ❤️

Quick lil skin update
Phew my skin has calmed down so much since the last time I posted 10 days ago. I cannot even explain how bad purging was for me. I realized I had so much gunk clogged in my pores it was insane! My skin is finally calming down and getting smoother. Not completely, still have hyperpigmentation and some small comedones but I feel like I’m finally over the worst part🤞🏽😅 My current skin care routine definitely feels less harsh than what I was using in the beginning and is as follows: AM Routine: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser Gentle on my skin in the morning, not stripping or drying but kinda pricey I feel like you could find a similar, cheaper option SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C and Turmeric Face OilJust started using this for the past week so I can’t tell if it’s doing anything yet but it’s fast absorbing AND it’s THD Ascorbate (as opposed to Ascorbic Acid) meaning it’s more stable, can be mixed with niacinamide and other higher pH ingredients AND has a longer shelf-life The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HAAlso just started using this so not sure if it’s doing anything CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin A+, love to death elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 Another ride or die🤞🏽 PM Routine: BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil I’ve learned that I love cleansing OILS as opposed to balms but there are cheaper options out there ☺️ CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin Started using this again at night and so glad I did! It really feels like it’s cleaning and getting into my pores 🧼 (key: after washing my face for a minute I let the wash sit for another minute or 2 to let the SA really sink in) SKINCEUTICALS - Blemish + Age Defense MY HOLY GRAIL. Has really transformed my skin in the past 2 weeks, definitely recommend if you’ve got the budget cause this bad boy sits at $92 PURITO - Centella Green Level Calming Toner I apply this thick calming toner 15 minutes after letting my skinceuticals absorb in my skin and it’s so calming love it ACURE - Radically Rejuvenating Eye Cream Love this thick eye cream especially when I put it in my skin care fridge, not sure if it does more than moisturize though THE inkey LIST - Ceramide Night Treatment Nice consistency, not too heavy or light, but not sure if it does anything yet The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane 2 drops at night to seal everything in, has my skin waking up glowy and non irritated ✨
Not everyone could give this VC essence a try
As a girl who wants to whiten herself all the year round, I also spend a lot of money on whitening essence. From Olay to SK2, I have tried all of their famous whitening products, and they all have good whitening and brightening effects. The ingredients are safe and won't irritate the skin. But whitening essence is different from person to person, not every product can have the effect to everyone, also not be the composition in every essence is safe to you. This product I would like to introduce today is this Alpha Arbutin 2% Whitening Serum from The Ordinary, and I'll tell you how bad it is for me. This The Ordinary whitening essence is a web celebrity product, because it is very cheap, only less than $10, when it comes to affordable whitening essence, it will definitely be mentioned. But for me, the effect of this product is really a long story, not only did not play any whitening effect, but let my face constantly allergic, long red acne. My skin is mixed with oily skin, which is more oily in summer and dry in winter. Moreover, most importantly, I don't have sensitive skin. I can safely use many products containing acids without any side effects. The quality of a material that says it first, it is translucent elite quality of a material, fluidity is stronger, when you put it on your face, it absorbed still calculate quite fast, have flavour of an essence, not very natural smell. Its whitening ingredients are very sufficient, can be said to be the strong medicine in whitening products, the main ingredient is nicotinamide, also contains alcohol, for sensitive skin, is a very unsafe product. In general, if you are using nicotinamide products for the first time, it is best to start with low levels and use them gradually. But after using this product for a while, it still causes my face to turn red and allergic. After I couldn't use it on my face, I started to apply it on my body, hoping that it would whiten my body a little, but after a few months, it didn't work. So, it's not recommended, even though it's cheap.
The Ordinary 10% Niacinamide + zinc 1%
Niacinamide is great for reducing oil and sebum production in the skin. Niacinamide is also a brightening agent which will help calm down redness and irritation in the skin. The zinc will also help reduce redness and ideation in the skin. - I like to use this product a couple times a week. After using this product for about 4 months I have seen less redness in my skin. This product really helps my acne scars and I notice that the spots go away within a couple of days. I’m almost out of this product and I already have a back up.

About Mandelic acid
My go to is The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA Where it comes from: Mandelic acid is derived from bitter almonds. It’s an AHA that’s been mostly studied for use with acne. AHAs are natural and synthetic ingredients that provide skin care benefits ranging from exfoliation to increasing hydration and firmness. Benefits of Mandelic acid: -Gentle on skin: it is amazing for people with sensitive skin including myself. It won’t irritate or cause any redness to my skin. The reason that it doesn’t irritate is because it penetrates the skin at a slow rate making it very gentle on the skin. -Cell turnover: Mandelic acid accelerates cell turnover and functions as a powerful exfoliate to remove dead skin cells. For this reason, mandelic acid is found in some chemical peels. - Promotes collagen production: mandelic acid improves skin appearance because it promotes collagen production Uses for Mandelic acid: - acne: Skin oils, bacteria, dead skin cells, and inflammation can trigger acne. Using skin care products containing mandelic acid help regulate sebum production, unclog pores, and reduce inflammation. This can result in fewer acne breakouts - skin texture: The exfoliating action of mandelic acid removes dead skin cells, which may leave your skin firmer and smoother. -hyperpigmentation: Mandelic acid may also have some lightening properties for dark spots, such as those seen in melasma Overall, my skin went so bad and became dry because of a product I was using but when I added this to my routine it helped my skin recover so much so I can start testing out other products again

Why you need Niacinamide
Also known as vitamin B3 and nicotinamide, Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help visibly - *minimize enlarged pores *tighten lax pores *improve uneven skin tone *soften fine lines and wrinkles *diminish dullness, and strengthen a weakened surface I don’t think there is one person out there needing help in at least one of these areas!! Niacinamide + Zinc @ $6.00 This water-based serum is has a light gel texture that absorbs quickly and layers perfectly – loads of people rate it as a primer because it instantly makes skin super smooth. Ideal for oily skin, apply it twice daily and you’ll soon notice you skin balancing out. Plus, it has the added bonus of zinc, which helps with healing blemishes. Zinc aids in healing the skin and prevents acne by regulating the activity of the oil glands. Zinc promotes a healthy immune system and the healing of tissues. It is also an antioxidant which helps to fight and prevent the formation of free radicals. Niacinamide can aid in reducing inflammation, which can help with acne, eczema and other inflammatory skin issues. It also helps regulate our natural skin oil production. And the benefits just keep coming...Niacinamide can help slow down the production of Melanin and lighten existing dark patches of skin. Additionally, Niacinamide has been shown to boost collagen, improve skin hydration levels, and even strengthen the skin to protect against environmental pollutants. When working with Niacinamide you want to use it early on in your skincare routine. Always remember- “thinnest to thickest.” Niacinamide is a serum and think of serums as extra treatments that address individual skin concerns outside of regular cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. So Niacinamide should be after toning but before moisturizing. Like most skincare products you are not going to see immediate results. Visible results can take up to 8 weeks, although you may notice a change in your skins texture. I like to use a product for 2-3 months before deciding to keep on with it or move onto something else. For me, Niacinamide will always be apart of my skincare routine. I’ve noticed positive changes in my pores, reduced acne and overall I feel it pairs well with the other products I use, boosting their effectiveness. I especially like to add mine after Cleansing, toning and then applying it after my Hyaluronic Acid. Then I follow up with my other products. There has been debate whether or not Niacinamide is safe to use with Vitamin C, but more and more information is coming to light that it is indeed safe and the two actually pair well together. It was said that Niacinamide cancelled out the effectiveness of Vitamin C, but research now indicates that unless you have overally sensitive skin, the two can be used together. Just be sure to test patch an area of your skin if you are prone to sensitivity. (Some of my facts and info were taken from: www.healthline.com)

Quick Guide To Using Niacinamide For Bright Skin
For someone like me who has combination skin and plenty of dark marks, niacinamide is definitely heaven-sent. Niacinamide is basically vitamin B3 in its active form. This ingredient is known to ease redness, lighten dark spots, and minimize pore appearance. Currently, I use niacinamide products regularly as part of my night routine. Prior to using this, I was using AHA products for the micro peel effect, but I stopped because I read on several blogs that niacinamide and AHA can’t be used together. So, how do I use niacinamide on my skin? I actually have two products containing this ingredient: an essence and a serum. After washing my face and applying toner, I use my palms to apply Nacific Phyto Niacin Whitening Essence. Next, I follow it up with The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I then apply eye cream to my eye area to prevent wrinkles. Lastly, I use my favorite night cream to leave my skin moisturized overnight. Nacific Phyto Niacin Whitening Essence is a lightweight essence that gets absorbed quickly into the skin. TO Niacinamide serum is a crowd-favorite for a reason – it’s very effective in brightening up the skin and lightening any hyperpigmentation. That said, some people have reported getting breakouts or other adverse products from this serum, so check the ingredients list first if you happen to be sensitive to an ingredient or two. 💋💋💋💋💋 5 out of 5 kisses for Niacinamide! I’ve been using niacinamide products for a good part of the year now and I’ve seen some noticeable differences in my skin. Niacinamide helped my skin go from dull to bright in just a short period of time. Say bye-bye to dark spots with this HG-worthy ingredient!

The Ordinary Niacinamide + Zinc Serum Review
[PRODUCT REVIEW] Serum The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% What You Need to Know: Cruelty free Fragrance free Alcohol free Silicone free Nuts free Gluten free Vegan Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) 10% Zinc 1% My Personal Experience: I did not realize how much this serum has helped my skin until I ran out and stopped using it for a few days. My skin was much more oily and therefore dull as the sebum oxidized on my face. Now it’s a staple in my morning routine. This serum is lightweight, easy to spread, and creates an almost matte finish after applying. I do find that if I use too much it can become sticky or soapy. For me, 2 or 3 drops are enough for my entire face even plus neck area. I want to be transparent about my situation. I’m 23 years old, living on the east coast, with no major skin issues. My skin isn’t very sensitive. My main concerns are oiliness, enlarged pore at the center of my face (genetic + bc I’m oily), a bit of redness of my cheeks (mostly bc of acne in my teenage years) and occasional pimples. I use acids at night plus weekly more intense mask treatments so I’ve built up my skin tolerance for actives. I like this serum a lot for my morning routine because niacinamide is a multi-tasker and I like my morning routine simple. It is an antioxidant. It helps with pores and oiliness. Honestly that’s enough for me in the morning. I’ve used maybe 3 or 4 bottles of this with many moisturizers, primers, and foundations, and luckily for me it works under all of those. Since I started using niacinamide, even my asian mom began to compliment my skin once in a while 😳. I get pimples less often and my complexion is brighter. It can be a little bit dry during winter, like my skin feels tight after applying it. But as long as I switch to a more hydrating moisturizer or add something like hyaluronic acid it works perfectly. I do want to point out that this specific formulation contains zinc, therefore making it more suitable for people with oilier skin and pimples. Also, I have read that a lot of people find this formula a bit irritating. So if your skin is on the drier or more sensitive side, I’m not sure this will be the right niacinamide for you. There are a lot of other products on the market that has niacinamide. And there are a lot of people sharing their experience with different niacinamide products. If you’re interested in trying out niacinamide, there are a lot of resources online for you to read. Hope you find your perfect ingredient and product. ⭐️ Final Tips: I believe (after doing my own research) that niacinamide is quite stable and can be used both AM and PM. But wear SPF everyday. Always. ☀️ In terms of layering actives, there are a lot of resources online and you should always research for you own specific conditions to avoid irritation.🌱
