KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.....
What many of us may not realize is that although they are often used interchangeably, moisturizing and hydration are not exactly the same thing. While both are key in providing skin with much-needed nourishment, knowing the difference will help you make the best choice when targeting your skin’s specific needs. HYDRATION: involves taking water into your skin and maintaining it. Natural humectants allow the skin to improve its ability to hydrate itself over time, so look out for products that contain hyaluronic acid, aloe, honey, alpha hydroxy acids and marine extracts. Synthetic humectants, glycerin, urea and propylene glycol are some of the ingredients you want to keep an eye out for. Hydrating ingredients are generally appropriate for all skin types. They are water-soluble and won’t clog pores. MOISTURISING: Locks and seals in water to prevent it from leaving the skin. Such as products with ceramides, oils (coconut, almond), butters (shea or cocoa) or dimethicone. These do not add water into the skin but deal in the moisture. For acne-prone skin, a light, oil-free moisturizer works best, these have less oil and more water content. For combination skin, a gel/lotion or cream will do fine, while a serum or a more emollient cream is best for dry skin types. SO BASICALLY hydrating products add water into the skin, and moisturisers lock in and retain existing moisture. You want to be making sure your skin is getting both. Personally, I use CeraVe’s moisturising facial lotion for my oily/acne-prone skin. This moisturiser contains ceramides and hyaluronic acid which means I’m getting my hydration and moisturising all in one! This helps prevent from layering more products clogging my skin with too many products!
Is it actually worth it? GLOW RECIPE
GLOW RECIPE - Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser This product is great for a gentle cleanse to remove all the dirt and sebum on your face! It’s awesome for all skin types due to the hydrating hyaluronic acid and the gentle exfoliation from lactic and glycolic acid! My skin always feels so fresh post using this cleanser but I haven’t seen a massive change in my acne. I use this product in the mornings for a gentle cleanse whilst at night, I’ll use a double cleansing system with an oil based cleanser and a salicylic acid cleanser. Overall, I’m a fan! GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist This hydrating mist I feel is more of an add on luxury, it isn’t necessary. Although it does give extra hydration which can be great, it isn’t really something that you should go out of your way for, especially for the price. GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow PHA+BHA Pore-Tight Toner I have only had this toner for a couple of weeks, and I use it on and off, but it does feel really nice! It makes my skin really glowy, and i noticed that the inflammation in my skin has gone down quite a bit, but i haven’t noticed that much change in my skin long term. It’s definitely more for people with combination/oily skin because of the exfoliating properties. I will keep using this product to get my final opinion! GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask This works wonders! It literally made my wrinkles less visible in the matter of one night and it feels so nice on the skin! I’m giving it four stars the only reason being is that it’s quite expensive for such a small pot. GLOW RECIPE - Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream I’ve only been using this product for a couple of days but wow, it’s amazing! It’s a thick cream but it feels so lightweight on your skin, so it’s good to not feel like your skin is drowning in moisturiser (I have oily skin). I love this product because it leaves my skin GLOWY and it has lightened my redness so much! I only got the smaller pot but I’ll probably end up getting the big one! GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Lip Pop OH MY GOD I LIVE FOR THIS PRODUCT. First, it exfoliates your lips, and then, it turns into a moisturising balm and THEN, it turns into a pretty pink tint! My new go-to lip product!!! OVERALL: I support this brand! I stand with their ethics and philosophy and they support matters such as BLM. Their products are quite pricey but if you have the money, I’d say to go for it!

First things first, follow me to see more content like this✨😘. Pretty please🥺. So let’s talk about my night time routine. It’s pretty simple only because I’m really tired at the end of the, but I still want to make sure I wash my face 🥴. So I start off with the fenty skin cleans’r, then I go in with the fat water and finish it it off with the fresh lotus anti-aging night moisturizer. 💖- So I finally found how I could fit my fenty skin products into my routine. The total cleans’r in my opinion is a very basic cleanser. It’s suitable for all skin types and if you’re someone that is just starting out or a skincare beginner, this is really good😊. If you are sensitive, or just don’t like fragrance this product isn’t going to be for you🙅🏾♀️‼️. I personally like the fragrance, it smells really nice. My face feels soft and very hydrated after. I’m not sure if I’m going to buy this again yet, I’m conflicted. ($25)FENTY SKIN - Total Cleans'r Remove-It-All Cleanser 💖- I still don’t like the fat water. My face feels sticky after and I really do not like the consistency 🤢. Other than that I think it’s a fine product. I just don’t like or understand combining a serum and a toner, I think that should be two different products. But I’m pretty fine with it since I get lazy at the end of the day🤷🏾♀️. My face doesn’t feel extremely dry afterwards, just a little tight. Probably won’t buy again. ($28)FENTY SKIN - Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum 💖- last but not least is the fresh lotus moisturizer. This is a “light weight night cream powered by antioxidant-rich super lotus that helps skin recover overnight for a more youthful look by morning”. My face is extremely hydrated after I use this and my small wrinkles under my eyes have disappeared 😊😊. I would recommend this product if you are concerned about wrinkles or dullness. I have the mini version because I like to buy minis when I first try a product if it’s possible. I’ll most likely be buying this product again. The only think i don’t like is that it does have a strong scent but it goes away pretty fast. ($19 for mini and $48 for the full size)fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer Again, like I said I’m pretty lazy at night so my routine is very simple. Once i use the fat water up, I’m just going to use a regular toner. Feel free to comment and critique my routine 😘💖.

Tatcha started off as a treat for me, one product here, another product there, but it has quickly grown to be a top shelf brand for me, and I’m on my way to a fill Tatcha routine! Its an expensive brand, yes, but I enjoy the luxurious textures and packaging, but more importantly, I truly believe in their innovative skincare ingredients, their concept on skin and found them to be very effective! Lets first talk about the Hadasei-3 concentrate thats inside each one of Tatchas products. Its a powderhouse of green tea, rice and red algae that are antiaging through the antioxidant content of green tea, smoothing, through the fermentation of the ingredients which results in lactic acid, and plumping with the hydrating benefits of these ingredients. This amazong compound is also found in 98.7% in The Eessence which has been a huuuge gamechanger for me. I attribute my smooth, plumped skin primarily to this product since I use every day. Another gamechanger for me was the Violet C radiance mask. How SOFT and SMOOTH and GLOWY my skin becomes after using this mask is unbelievable. Its so beautiful and luxurious. Ive also transitioned to daily gentle exfoliation with their enzyme cleanser. The enzymes are especially gentle for sensitive skin and all skin types in fact, that its more like a dead-skin-cell digesting cleanser. I love it, super hooked and will likely always have this in my life. I used the Dewy Skin Concentrate for the longest time as a night cream, and woke up with beautiful dewy, glowy skin every day. Sadly, it is now empty but I may repurchase at some point- its really pricey 😭

Pretty in Pink 💖
A roundup review of some pink products I’ve been using! ACURE - Seriously Soothing SPF 30 Day Cream This SPF moisturizer boasts niacinamide and blue tansy to sooth and even skin out in addition to being a moisturizing mineral SPF. I gotta say I’m not a huge fan of moisturizing SPFs in the first place but this one looked nice to me. It’s got a thin consistency coming out the tube but as you spread it on it’s pretty thick and heavy feeling. In about the middle of the ingredients list is coconut oil, a very occlusive and comedogenic oil, so I definitely wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who is oily or acne prone, but it hasn’t broken me out at least. It’s not my favorite SPF I’ve ever used, but if my skin is super dry or sensitive I’ll use this over my others. fresh - Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash I love this cleanser! I use it twice a week for some nice exfoliation. I’ve always preferred physical exfoliation over chemical (I know I’m in the minority here) and this one is super gentle! The sugar granules are small and dissolve pretty quickly, and the cleanser itself is a non-foaming jelly, plus it smells like a delicious strawberry smoothie. My skin doesn’t feel dry or tight at all after using it. I will definitely be purchasing the full size when I finish this! FARMACY - Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum with Acerola Cherry This is the serum that changed my opinion about serums! I used to avoid them because I hated the sticky feeling they would leave on my skin, but my skin had been lackluster and I wanted to add a vitamin C to my routine. This serum is amazing y’all! It’s only 15% vitamin C derived from cherries, so it’s gentle and natural, plus it has 4 different derivatives of hyaluronic acid. It just smooths over my skin like butter, I love it, I use it as needed for extra hydration or if I just wanna feel extra glowy, plus it smells so good and sweet! I’m glad I took this plunge, I highly recommend it! ORIGINS - Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay I’ve only used this mask twice but so far it’s been really nice. I am a masker, always have been, and while clay masks aren’t really my go-to since I have dry skin, I’m glad I have just this one. It really tightens up my pores and my skin just feels sooo smooth after. It is a bit drying after washing it off but after serum and moisturizer it’s not an issue, and when I wake up my skin feels smooth and clear. Overall i think it does what it claims to do very well!

super simple routine tonight after the reaction I’ve had overnight with the likely culprit being my new prescription acne gel Epiduo ⭐️ tula Kefir Replenishing cleansing oil - only one cleanse needed as no makeup / SPF. Plus I don’t want to aggravate my skin any further. • ⭐️ sjoskin Happy Honey Mask - I debated whether to use this or not. On one hand I’m trying not to aggravate my skin with extra products but on the other, this mask is magic! 🤣I’ve seen some amazing before and after pics with using this mask on sensitised skin so I thought it’s got to be worth a try! It definitely felt soothing whilst it was on and calmed the itching. • ⭐️ herbivore botanicals Rose Hibiscus mist - super hydrating. • ⭐️ esteelauder Advanced Night Repair eye. • ⭐️ iunik Centella Calming Gel cream - the Centella in this is a great anti inflammatory. • ⭐️ a.florenceskincare Skin Barrier Restoring serum - can’t beat it!🙌🏻😍 I’m smothering myself in it 🤣

Micellar Milk: Lives Up to the Hype?
“Micellar milk” intrigued me the moment I heard Drunk Elephant founder Tiffany mention it in her skin routine, so I was excited to receive a PR sample in the form of a pretty blue box on my doorstep. I’ve been able to use it for about two weeks now, with a variety of sunscreens and light foundation as well as waterproof mascara, so... I’m impressed! DRUNK ELEPHANT - E-Rase Milki Micellar Water feels wonderfully milky and light on my sensitive combination skin, not at all “oily” like most micellar waters. It easily removes my mascara with minimal effort (no rubbing) and only takes about two cotton rounds to remove all 4+ layers of my sunscreen. Not sure how it’d do with heavy foundation, as I use Glossier Skin Tint which is very minimal, but I had no obvious residue and followed up with my second cleanse without issue. So excited to get my mini soon to use as a post-gym “cleanse” to remove sweat! I love this more than the BioDerma micellar waters particularly because it doesn’t leave a slick feeling on skin. It leaves skin feeling lightly hydrated, like I just applied a serum, but not sticky or oily. This is thanks to the surprisingly lightweight blend of propanediol, marula oil, baobab seed oil, sweet almond oil, mongongo oil, hog plum seed oil, and watermelon oil. They added in some nourishing vitamin e, cholesterol, and three ceramides to make it worthy of being used as a toner after cleansing, for those with dry/sensitive/irritated skin. I love it and will definitely be repurchasing at the very reasonable (for a mid-luxury brand) price of $28USD for 8 fl oz. Anyone have some reusable cotton rounds they love enough to recommend? ♻️
