I'm probably a bit biased from my years studying Japanese, but I don't think j-beauty/skincare gets as much attention as it deserves; it's an incredible nexus of ancient traditions and cutting edge technology. No shade to k-beauty, which I also love, but I wanted to talk about Japanese lotions since they're often confused with other products because they share the same name. Lotions are, for the most part, a toner/essence hybrid that provides hydration and preps the skin for the products applied next. By that description, they lean towards being more like toners, but it varies- most are thin and watery in texture, but some are more viscous, so coupled with the fact that some lotions brighten or soothe in addition to providing moisture, the terms are used somewhat interchangeably. Here are some that I've used:

My love candle!!!!!!!!💔💔💔
@overosefragrances so candles cannot smell, what are you doing ?! My heart is broken! Make a perfume with the scent of this candle and I will buy it right away. I opened the box with great enthusiasm, I really wanted this candle when I heard the aroma, my enthusiasm turned into euphoria, I was happy as a child. This is some kind of paradise, a very dreamy aroma, I breathed and breathed! Aesthetic candle and aesthetics begin with fragrant white roses, merging with the softness of almond milk, warm caramel and a pinch of sandalwood, covered with a haze of vanilla and a drop of creamy veil. The aroma does not go beyond the border of sweetness. I’m honestly going crazy about this candle. All Overose candles contain essential oils, have aromas and burn beautifully. They are vegan and do not contain phthalates. Candles are expensive, but every cent justifies. I bought @sephora with a 20% discount. OVEROSE - AESTHETIC

Saturday Skin Probiotic Power Whipped Cream
SATURDAY SKIN - Pretty Pop Probiotic Power Whipped Cream
I adore the Saturday Skin bright potion serum, so when they gifted me their new pretty pop probiotic power whipped cream, I expected to be equally infatuated. Cute holographic packaging? Check. Powerhouse ingredients? Check. Probiotics AND prebiotics? Check. Yet it doesn't quite measure up to the bright potion serum, even though I'm aware that comparing the two doesn't make a ton of sense since they're completely different product types. Like the rest of the probiotic power line, the cream has niacinamide (my favorite skincare ingredient) to soothe and even out skin tone, four types of probiotics to improve complexion and strengthen the moisture barrier, and two types of prebiotics to help the probiotics work better. (I know, it was hard to word that bit) There's also hibiscus extract to smoothe texture, as well as moringa seed extract to make skin glow. On paper, this sounded perfect, yet despite the light texture, it left my skin feeling greasy even though I'm on the dry side. It has been quite humid here lately, so this could very well work better in cooler weather. There are little probiotic beads that release upon application, which is fine since it goes on so easily, but that part wasn't clearly mentioned, so when I first opened it I thought mine had gone off somehow. It's too early to speak to its brightening abilities; perhaps that'll change given time and/or using it in conjunction with the serum. I'm all for splurging on a product that really works for you, but in this case the $57 price tag doesn't feel justified. Currently only available online at Sephora

What I use for emergency skin repair?
Today I want to share my skin routine when I have breakouts before my period, or my skin feels uneven and has small pimples on my face because I eat too much unhealthy foods and stay up late. I usually do this routine no more than five days and I can see the great results. The most important point is “less is more”, so I would only use one repairing product and focus on moisturizing so that there won’t be too much burden for my skin.
For the first step, I will apply a moisturizing skin lotion with a cotton pads, which will help me clean the skin better. I use the Eudermine Revitalizing Essence from Shiseido, and I think you can choose any lotion you like if the ingredients are simple. After wiping my face and neck, I will use it one more time without cotton pads to give my skin a good base for the next step.
The next product I use is the Advanced Night Repair Intense Reset Concentrate from Estee Lauder. Using Chronolux S.O.S. Technology, this treatment rescues and resets the look of skin fast, and I can tell the difference in one night! This product has Tripeptide-32, which is a patent ingredient of Estee Lauder and has great antioxidative effects. The salicylic acid and resveratrol inside can help with pores, breakouts and make the skin brighter and more stable. Besides, dimethicone, squalene and hyaluronic acid are for moisturizing, so if you have oily skin, you can omit cream afterwards.
The last step for me is moisturizer. I use the True Cream Moisturizing Bomb from Belif. I really love this brand, and they have different texture of moisturizer. If you have combination or oily skin, the Water Bomb is also a great choice if your expectation is only stay hydrated all day and all night. Because I don’t want to have too much products on my face when my skin is sensitive, so keeping my skin hydrated is the most important thing for me. And this product does a great job.
So that is my skincare routine when I need emergency repair and I would only use this routine when needed and go back to my normal routine after I feel better. Hope it can be helpful for you too.

The biggest difference between A.M and P.M is using the Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask. This mask features anti-aging and moisturizing. I use it for 3 times a week. The texture is cream and presents the light pink color. It gives off a smell of rose, very exclusive flavour. After cleaning up, to apply a thick layer on your skin, and wait for more than ten or twenty minutes to wash off. After washing off, you can obviously feel that your skin is smooth and brighten. It can clean the pores and make your skin glow.
After cleaning the mask completely, I am going to apply Shiseido Eudermine. I have bought-back this toner for many times. If you are dry skin, I recommend you to go to buy it quickly! It can keep your skin in a newly-born condition! Collocation with Sisley ecological compound，the function of anti-aging and moisturizing are all covered by this routine.

GUERLAIN - Bee Glow Youth Moisturizer
In the daytime, in addition to not applying Sisley black rose cream mask, I will replace Sisley Ecological Compound with Guerlain abeille royale youth watery oil, which is more hydrated than the previous one from my experience. Only ensure that the skin is moist enough, the foundation and subsequent cosmetics can help you skin present the best condition.
Sisley Ecological Compound is for all skin types, and the Guerlain abeille royale youth watery oil is more suitable for dry skin people!
In addition to season change, I will change my routine. Any other periods I have been using this routine for over three years.

The smell of these guys, first of all, is nothing short of heavenly - smell gets me SO much when it comes to beauty products, and these do not disappoint. What’s also amazing is that these sink into the skin SO fast.
Both the serum and cream are very light but they still provide a ton of hydration, so I know they’ll be great during the summer too. When I wake up in the morning I wake up to glowing, hydrated, even-toned and happy skin.
This has become such a favorite night routine of mine and I’ll be repurchasing forever 💫

the final serum i am using in my current routine is my nighttime serum - and it’s of course, advanced night repair from estée lauder! i love this product! it has definitely changed my skin for the better! this one contains caffeine and other powerful ingredients that will repair and strengthen your skin overnight! definitely recommend this to anyone with any skin issues, it’s a fantastic overnight serum that will keep your skin super hydrated and strong!

step 4 - crèmes/moisturisers 🧴
i am currently only using 2 different crèmes for moisturisers. as i have somewhat oily to normal skin, overly hydrating my skin isn’t a high priority however i do love moisturisers and crèmes anyway! the first product i use is the ole henriksen c-rush brightening double crème! this product is insane. it’s packed with vitamin c and super hydrating ingredients. this one is a little heavier compared to its sister product, the c-rush gel crème, but i enjoy that aspect to it, it feels like it’s hydrating and brightening my skin when applied. big love for this product!
OLE HENRIKSEN - C-Rush Brightening Double Crème
for a night cream, i use something a little heavier and more repairing to pair with my advanced night repair from the previous step. at the moment i have been using the first aid beauty ultra repair cream as my night cream. this has been working a treat when it comes to overnight repair of the skin! i have even noticed a difference in redness and blemishes. it’s a fantastic product for most dry, normal, combination people as well!

at the moment, the product i have been loving for my day and night eye cream the it cosmetics confidence in an eye cream! this is a fab all rounder eye cream. it contains vitamin c and caffeine for an instant brightening effect and it also reduces bags under the eye too! it also contains anti-aging technology inside as well! the perfect eye cream for skincare newcomers!

final step to my routine! i use a lip balm! at the moment i’m loving the laneige lip glowy balm! it comes in a compact squeezy tube, which is super convenient. the product is really hydrating and tastes amazing. for dry parched lips, it’s one of a kind! definitely one of my favourite lip balms ever.

I'm enjoying using the 💖pixibeauty rose tonic which seems to get on better with my skin then their much acclaimed glow tonic. The rose tonic is gentle in nature and seems to really do a good job of drawing impurities out from my skin.
💖 Firstaidbeauty repair cream I tend to use at night as it's very rich for my oily skin, it does a great job of plumping my skin over night for a glowy and healthy complexion the following day.
💖Beautypie Japan fusion serum, I've been using consistently in the morning for weeks now. Yet to review on this.

Even though I know some people don't think eye creams are necessary, I love them, especially since I have a bad habit of touching/rubbing my eyes, so the extra hydration helps. This one is meant to do a lot: brighten, depuff, smooth, and hydrate, though it's too soon to say for some of that. It's also fragrance-free so as to not irritate the eyes, which I very much appreciate.
Normally I have a preference for an eye cream for the morning or at night, but this one works well for both! It's creamy, yet light, so it wears well under makeup, and I can definitely see a brightening effect upon application. The ginseng blue plant extract helps to decrease puffiness (always needed), and the amino acid derivative provides
environmental protection against stressors/pollutants. As for the essence, it's similar to others I love! You apply it after cleansing and toning, but before serums/treatments, patting it in gently with your hands/fingertips. This one has a light, watery consistency, so it goes on easily and absorbs quickly. Boasting some very good ingredients, it's supposed to be anti-aging, and includes liposome encapsulated retinol, a very gentle vitamin A derivative (aka a type of retinol). It's said to be gentle enough to use daily, but since I'm already using a retinol serum twice a week, I'd only apply it a few times per week, and never on the same day as the serum.
So far so good, but as with the eye cream, it's too early to speak to its effectiveness, though my skin has felt well hydrated after using it.

🌟C-Firma, As above! Literally, it does what it says on the tin and my skin doesn’t react or have any irritation, it’s not sticky and brilliant to use during the day under makeup without piling.

my 3 choices are based on my skin type, which is OLD and DRY!...... although looking less so these days and It’s definitely a lot more hydrated 😁
