Commodity Velvet EDP
COMMODITY - Velvet Eau De Parfum Spray It's been a while since commodity suddenly shuttered and the remaining stock at Sephora and other places were half off, which apparently had been the case for over a week but sadly I didn't see it in time. When I did, most of the ones I wanted to try were already gone, but luckily I did splurge last year and get this one, velvet, which I will savor for as long as I can. It's definitely sweeter than most of the scents I gravitate towards, with a strong note of vanilla and a bit of almond, but it's lightened by rose and grounded with black amber. The name really does fit the scent- I feel instantly cozy and warm when I wear it. Which is usually in the fall/winter, but I'm doing the perfume equivalent of pouring one out in honor by wearing it tonight. (please don't take that too seriously 😬)

Sunday Forever Coconut Woods Fragrance
sunday forever - LIMITED EDITION COCONUT WOODS EXTREME Normally deciding which perfume to wear takes a while, but lately I've just been using the Sunday Forever x dirtyboysgetclean coconut woods EDP every day because I'm utterly obsessed with it! It's so well balanced between the bright, sweet coconut and the earthy notes of patchouli, cedarwood, and vetiver, making it a scent I can wear day or night (or just all day)! It's currently sold out on the Sunday Forever website, but I still recommend submitting your email for restock notifications just in case it comes back! Also, if it does, I highly suggest you buy it ASAP, seeing as every batch has sold out within a day (that's how I missed the first two installments) because it's just that good!

Saturday Skin Cleanser + Serum Review
SATURDAY SKIN - Bright Potion Probiotic Power Serum SATURDAY SKIN - RISE + SHINE Purifying Cleanser At this point, I've tried (and mostly loved) nearly everything Saturday Skin makes, so I had high hopes for these. Saturday Skin gifted me their Rise + Shine Gentle Cleanser and new Bright Potion Probiotic Power Serum (both exclusively available at Sephora ), my thoughts of which are mixed. The cleanser seemed right up my alley with its creamy texture, so I was surprised to find that my skin felt dry and stripped after rinsing. It foamed up way too much for my liking, which I'm guessing is the drying culprit, and I ended up needing an extra layer of mist and moisturizer. At $26, that's not going to work for me. However, I have been absolutely loving the serum! Full of probiotics and activating prebiotics, as well as niacinamide (brightness + texture) and Irish moss (hydration), it does a whole lot in one bottle. Admittedly, I've only used it for a few weeks, but so far my skin has really responded well to it- I use it both AM and PM, and my skin always feels soft and plump afterwards. It absorbs quickly, so you don't have to wait too long to apply moisturizer, which is key for my rushed mornings. Plus, the packaging is pretty darn cute. It's not inexpensive at $51, but considering how much it does (plus you only need a couple pumps per application), the price could be worth it if you're looking to go in on one serum/treatment for daily use. I'll definitely report back after a longer trial period, but as of now I definitely recommend!
SATURDAY SKIN-Bright Potion Probiotic Power Serum
Saturday Skin Probiotic Power Whipped Cream
SATURDAY SKIN - Pretty Pop Probiotic Power Whipped Cream I adore the Saturday Skin bright potion serum, so when they gifted me their new pretty pop probiotic power whipped cream, I expected to be equally infatuated. Cute holographic packaging? Check. Powerhouse ingredients? Check. Probiotics AND prebiotics? Check. Yet it doesn't quite measure up to the bright potion serum, even though I'm aware that comparing the two doesn't make a ton of sense since they're completely different product types. Like the rest of the probiotic power line, the cream has niacinamide (my favorite skincare ingredient) to soothe and even out skin tone, four types of probiotics to improve complexion and strengthen the moisture barrier, and two types of prebiotics to help the probiotics work better. (I know, it was hard to word that bit) There's also hibiscus extract to smoothe texture, as well as moringa seed extract to make skin glow. On paper, this sounded perfect, yet despite the light texture, it left my skin feeling greasy even though I'm on the dry side. It has been quite humid here lately, so this could very well work better in cooler weather. There are little probiotic beads that release upon application, which is fine since it goes on so easily, but that part wasn't clearly mentioned, so when I first opened it I thought mine had gone off somehow. It's too early to speak to its brightening abilities; perhaps that'll change given time and/or using it in conjunction with the serum. I'm all for splurging on a product that really works for you, but in this case the $57 price tag doesn't feel justified. Currently only available online at Sephora
J-Beauty: LENAJAPON Skincare
I'm finally sharing my full review of LENAJAPON Beauty, which I discovered at the 2018 IBE show! The founder, Reiko-san, created the original moisture lotion for her daughter Lena (who was living abroad at the time) using her background in cosmetics. She also noticed that Lena's grandmother had incredible skin because she always cleansed her skin thoroughly, aka double cleansing, which we now know makes a huge difference. So she developed a bar cleanser that creates the most incredible, fluffy foam when added to water- it seriously feels like you're applying a cloud to your face. You do it on dry skin first, rinse, and then repeat. Afterwards, you apply the lotion (though the texture is more that of a thick essence) onto wet skin. Then again once the first layer has absorbed. That's it! You can apply a moisturizer afterwards if you need it (I usually do since my skin runs dry) but otherwise you're done- easily the most simple skincare routine I've ever tried. I use it about once a week or so (twice in the winter) since the rest of the time I use other treatments, but it's a great option for when my skin needs a night off (or I'm just tired). The only thing is that it isn't meant to be used as a makeup remover since it's so gentle, so I go in with micellar water before cleansing to take it off. I remember passing by their booth and being intrigued by what looked like bowls of cotton candy. I had the pleasure of meeting the mother-daughter duo and see them (literally) whip up the cleansing foam like magic. I know simple bar soap foam doesn't sound extraordinary, but I'll be demonstrating on my stories in a bit! LenaJapon - LJ MOIST BAR LenaJapon - Moist Balance Lotion Rich

I'm probably a bit biased from my years studying Japanese, but I don't think j-beauty/skincare gets as much attention as it deserves; it's an incredible nexus of ancient traditions and cutting edge technology. No shade to k-beauty, which I also love, but I wanted to talk about Japanese lotions since they're often confused with other products because they share the same name. Lotions are, for the most part, a toner/essence hybrid that provides hydration and preps the skin for the products applied next. By that description, they lean towards being more like toners, but it varies- most are thin and watery in texture, but some are more viscous, so coupled with the fact that some lotions brighten or soothe in addition to providing moisture, the terms are used somewhat interchangeably. Here are some that I've used: ▪️ SHISEIDO - Eudermine Revitalizing Essence obviously isn't labelled as one, but it's described as a softening lotion since it both hydrates and contains enzymes to gently exfoliate/brighten ▪️ DHC - CoQ10 Lotion is listed as a toner, but also has anti-aging properties from the antioxidant coenzyme Q10 ▪️ LenaJapon - Moist Balance Lotion Rich is super thick, and actually meant to be used in lieu of a moisturizer, so it's not as easy for serums to sink in afterwards ▪️ BEAUTY PIE - JAPANFUSION HYDRA PREP LOTION (STEP M1) does pretty much exactly what its name says, but can also be applied multiple times (as some mists or essences are) for extra moisture ▪️ SEKKISEI - SEKKISEI Lotion also identifies as a toner, but does way more than just hydrate- it reduces pigmentation, evens texture, and refines pores
I picked up a couple babies from Commodity during the sale. They are a brand that I have always had my eye on and I am so sad to hear about their closing. They have so many unique scents with beautiful note combinations it was difficult to choose (and I was at the display looking like a crazy person for a very long time). I picked up Gold, Rain and Nectar and I am so happy to add them to my collection!
With this post I wanted to give my first impressions on the frank bod anti-drama face mask. I used it after a long weekend of staying out late + eating junk food, and my face was looking a little angry. I had a few small breakouts and some red spots, so I gave this mask a try. I don’t want to say that I’m in a new committed relationship w this mask, but um... we’re kind of a thing now 💁🏻♀️ First of all, it smells like vanilla frosting 🤤 It smelled like there was a cupcake on my face and I loved it! In addition to that, it completely calmed all of the redness on my face and I was AMAZED. My skin absolutely loooves this mask!

aznlabs afterglow ampoule I’ve discussed this serum a bit before, but just to refresh; it’s made with astaxanthin, which is a type of algae packed with antioxidants supposedly 1000x more powerful than vitamin C 👀 it can help brighten and even skin tone as well as protect it, while also reducing signs of aging
Top exfoliators for hyperpigmentation and PIH
EXFOLIATION // my best friend and my favorite way to keep my breakouts under control, my skin glowing (as much as possible) and to fight fine lines and dullness. I use a lot of exfoliates, and I like them like I like my drinks & coffee: STRONG AF. When I introduced products like these into my routine, I saw the biggest difference in the time it took my skin to heal from breakouts. While it used to take many weeks and sometimes even months for a spot to completely disappear, now I can get rid of a spot in around 1-2 weeks. I’m able to do this by combining different types of chemical exfoliants, some gentle enough for daily use (like The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA , #AMOREPACIFIC - Treatment Enzyme Peel Cleansing Powder[goods]#[FourStars] , and Glossier. - Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector ), some for a few times a week (like banish pumpkin enzyme mask and phytosil retinol serum, and some weekly treatments (like PETER THOMAS ROTH - Pro Strength Exfoliating Super Peel and savor beauty cherry collagen peel) while most of these are your typical serum/toner consistency, the two masks have awesome textures that I had to share- swipe to check them out!

I had really high hopes for kravebeauty’s Great Barrier Relief the very second it was revealed. If liahyoo’s name is attached to something, you’re going to want to try it. 〰️ If you weren’t aware, GBR is a serum that helps to gently restore your skin’s precious barrier. A poor functioning skin barrier is the culprit behind so many skin issues including dehydration, dryness, rosacea, etc. This product was created to keep your barrier healthy! 〰️ The magical ingredient in this product is tamanu oil. Tamanu oil possesses powerful skin healing properties and was traditionally used to treat wounds and other skin ailments. It also said to help to eliminate hyperpigmentation over time. 〰️ GBR also contains: safflower oil, rosehip seed oil, ceramides, cholesterol, and niacinamide. Together, these ingredients combine to create a beautifully nourishing skin cocktail. It truly does what it sets out to do, which is to protect and heal irritated skin. 〰️ This serum is everything I wanted it to be. The texture is soft and velvety. It is so gentle, yet extremely effective. My texture and tone has noticeably improved over the past several weeks. I adore the scent - it smells really fresh without being overpowering or offensive. I reach for it morning and night. In fact, I’m already about halfway through the bottle. It is well worth $28 and I would gladly repurchase it again. The best part? Every purchase of GBR helps protect the Great Barrier Reef!
