My 10 months of hair!

This post goes out to all of you wonderful wavy babes! Let me tell you, when I started trying to restore my natural hair pattern I stopped at NOTHING to make my hair as curly as possible. I wanted curly, voluminous, bouncy hair, and at first all I saw was limpy nothingness. I refused to accept the fact that my hair was wavy and not the coil ringlets I’ve always wanted. AND THAT HAD A HUGE EFFECT ON MY HAIR. Curly hair is very different than wavy. Here’s why. Curly hair will thrive off of thick products because let’s face it, curls need a lot of extra oomf to hold that wonderful curl, but wavy hair can be very finicky. Too much product? Crunchy, flat, lifeless. Not enough product? Frizzy, wide and fluffy zigzags that look like you slept on straight hair funky. I looked what felt like EVERYWHERE for anything to tell me how to style wavy hair, but all I ever got was how to take care of curls so I assumed. What’s the difference? In many cases, there is NO difference. Stay away from drying alcohols, no parabens, no waxes, etc etc. But what they don’t tell you is that there are certain products that are just too heavy for a bouncy, beachy wave. Oils are great! But too much or a combo of too many can weigh down the roots and make the hair stringy and flat. Too much gel creates a straw like effect that just makes me want to scream. And sometimes creams make your hair feel amazing, but there isn’t any hold to help your hair keep its shape. It’s all about trial and error. Some days will be the best hair day of your life, and other days you just want to shave it all off. But embrace those waves! Waves are the perfect medium between curly and straight! Waves can hold a tighter styled curl as well as hold a nice straight style from a flat iron (god given that the humidity is on your side that day aka non existent!) but natural waves are just as beautiful as both extremes and we have to keep in mind, that even though we aren’t naturally getting that perfect coil, some bouncy beach waves are all we need! Thank you for coming to my ted talk. See ya lovelies ❤️

My everyday work hairstyle 💕
My everyday work hairstyle 💕
Hey everyone! So Cherie challenged me to go outside of my comfort zone so I’m posting a picture tutorial that’s a little different than my usual skincare content. I tried recording like three videos and luck just wasn’t on my side so this was what I had to do. 🖤 I just got my hair cut the other day so I wanted to show how I usually style it for work. First, I brush out my hair and usually apply a dry shampoo (depending on how long it’s been since I’ve washed it). I have really thick hair (it’s normally wavy as well but I have a blow out in this video) and I usually only wash it once a week. My favorite dry shampoo by far is the IGK - First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo . It’s a really heavy duty dry shampoo that gives plenty of body to the hair. This can make week old hair look like you just washed it. I section my hair and apply. I usually wait 30 seconds and work it into my hair with my hands (it’s really important you use your hands instead of a brush! It distributes product better). Next, I brush the front piece of my hair up with a hair brush and hold that in one hand while smoothing down the rest of my hair. I grab two bobby pins (who else does the bobby pin in the mouth trick? 🙋🏻‍♀️) and then I twist the front section of hair I pulled aside and push it forward a little to add a “poof”. I push the bobby pins in to secure the “poof” in a X formation to make sure the hold is secure. Then, I grab a flexible hold hairspray and apply to prevent any flyaways. My favorite by far is the R+Co - Outer Space Flexible Hairspray . It smells amazing and gives great hold without feeling crunchy. Finally, I pull little pieces out and up a little to give the “poof” a little more of a uniform look. I’m sorry if the quality of the tutorial isn’t up to par with my usual stuff. I’m trying something new! I hope you all liked my little tutorial 💕 This hair style is super comfortable to me and allows me to work without having my hair constantly in my face. #CherieCreator

when I need to make my hair style last, this is my favorite duo! OUAI - Dry Shampoo Foam is unlike anything I’ve ever tried. the mousse satisfies the “wet” feeling you get from showering, but it dissipates quickly to leave clean, dry hair!! amika: - The Shield Anti-Humidity Spray this is awesome right before styling—it adds protection to heat, as well as helps maintain a frizz-free look all day!! tennessee summer approved! these steps are super easy, but really effective. the added volume of the dry shampoo makes your hair look freshly washed! anyone can do it!

Sleek+Straight; Best Styles for Oval Face Shape
Sleek+Straight; Best Styles for Oval Face Shape
My face shape has always been a cross between oval & round; I have found that one of the most flattering styles for my shape is sleek and straight. Here’s the steps I take to achieve shiny, sleek, healthy looking hair that frames my face and helps to slim down the roundness👇🏻 My hair is naturally straight and is fine in texture. While my natural colour is blonde, it is also colour-treated (bleached) throughout. 1️⃣ I started with day-old, air-dried hair; first I sprayed in the eva·nyc - Mane Magic 10-in-1 Primer to protect my strands from the heat of my flat iron and prime it for styling. This spray is a very fine mist and works great to prep the hair for heat styling (my only con is that it’s very strongly perfume scented). 2️⃣ Next I ran my eva·nyc - Spectrum Far-Infrared Styling Iron through my hair, concentrating on the hair around my face to make sure it was evenly sleek and not frizzy. Personally, I only flat iron my hair from just above my ears down because I find if I flat iron the roots it leaves my hair too flat and without any volume. 3️⃣ Last, I misted on some of my KEVIN.MURPHY - Shimmer Me Blonde which is a shine-enhancing spray made for blondes, with violet-hued reflects to tone out brassiness (they have one for brunettes/redheads too!). I love this stuff, it feels nourishing but light and makes my hair shiny without being greasy. Honestly, it’s a super simple look but I always feel a little bit glam when I go for sleek + straight locks - it feels so timeless. Hope you enjoyed!!💁🏼‍♀️🤍

DIY HAIR DETANGLER😱🚿
DIY HAIR DETANGLER😱🚿
How do you normally detangle your hair? Aloe vera 🌱It is a natural conditioner that will help you repair damaged and frizzy hair 🙆🏻‍♀️ Distilled water 💦: Is free of toxins and bacteria, that will help us removing the chemicals like fluoride and chlorine that damage our delicate hair and scalp so adding it to this recipe will help us to balance quickly our hair ph level. 🍏cider vinegar: Smooths your strands laying the cuticles down 😯which helps the hair to separate a lot easier than it would if the cuticles were up👌🏻you will see how amazing this ingredient is 😱and for those worried about the smell, once the hair dries out the smell goes away! it is incredible 💃🏻 Almond Oil: It has vitamin E that is rich in antioxidants ✨so it will give your hair a healthy shine✨ that forms a layer that protects the hair from external harmful factors like pollution, chemicals, heat, dust, etc🙌🏻 PD: You can preserve a good quality aloe vera gel for 10 to 15 days in the room and your recipe will last much longer with distilled water :). Use it everytime you need to detangle your hair 😊

My go to hair tutorial- beachy waves look
My go to hair tutorial- beachy waves look
My absolute favorite go - to beachy waves look for the perfect night out.. I have think and naturally straight-ish hair it can be a little wavy and straight ( I know strange right ? Haha ) My hair tutorial on how I do my hair when I go out or have a date night with my husband! I love beach waves it’s such a natural and classy look and it’s so fun to do and I love the volume it adds to my hair.. I love using my hair care products before I put heat on my hair I like to use TRESemmé - Keratin Smooth Keratin Infusing Smoothing Serum because it helps with frizzy hair and my hair can get pretty frizzy after drying and my baby hairs love to stick up so it’s great for the perfect slick to pull down my hair ..... it’s not a heat protectant oil it’s more for a sleek shine and helps with frizz and fly ways it’s great for a flawless and sleek finish to your hair, great for styling it has Marula oil and smells amazing ... you can apply it to wet or dry hair of your choice :) but for heat protectant spay I love to use the TRESemmé - Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Leave In Spray helps to protect heat for damaging your hair and I used it while my hair is damp

It’s always a good day when I can add a new IGK product into my routine! They just came out with the IGK - Good Behavior 4-in-1 Prep Spray which I knew I was going to buy as soon as I could as I’m a HUGE fan of the original Good Behavior. Let me tell you, I’m already in love with this product. IGK claims this 4-in-1 prep spray detangles hair, protects against heat, controls frizz, and enhances shine. It’s lightweight, hydrates, and is safe for color treated hair. It’s great for all hair types and it costs $27 for 7 oz of product. Off the bat this stuff smells amazing! If you’re familiar with the original Good Behavior Spray it smells just like that. I use this on hair wash days after I get out of the shower. I usually wrap my hair up in a towel for a few minutes and when it’s about halfway dry and I’m ready to put products in I spray this all over. It has a non aerosol spray that evenly distributes the product over the hair. It’s very lightweight! It doesn’t weigh my hair down at all. I think it did a pretty good job detangling my hair as well as it’s usually pretty wavy and messy. When I woke up my natural curls were pretty enhanced. My hair looked lively and healthy! It’s probably the best my hair has looked in a really long time (I’m really attributing it to this and I started using a mint Keracolor clenditioner which is amazing). I came home from my shift about 9 hours later and I was amazed with how soft my hair was. It felt like I had just left the hair dressers. I don’t think it did much for my frizz as I did have some fly aways but I have fly aways no matter what so that didn’t bother me. What made me really happy was that my hair finally looked healthy, shiny, and pretty. I totally recommend this product to anyone looking for a good leave in. I love the results this gave my hair and how it ended up looking in the morning. I totally think it’s worth it. #CheriePartner
