Favorite affordable products to add to your routine that really work
Summer is coming, it’s nearly shorts and tee weather. I have noticed how dry and sad my skin is, horribly dull-looking with flaky patches; and this, combined with the fact I’m broke, is making me really depressed. So I decided to do something about it. Taking some time out of my day to find some products that really work and won’t break the bank wasn’t easy. I read all the reviews and ordered these products online and within a few days I could see the results! They were so good I had to share them with you. Face - Caudalie Beauty Elixir This product is amazing, it really hits dry skin hard! Do your usual cleansing routine and then add it at the end before your makeup. Caudalie is known for making hard-working products at an affordable price and this is no exception. It smells amazing, feels like silk on the skin and the result is radiant, glowing, plump skin. Suits all types of skin that need hydration and the best effect is that it tightens the skin, making you look more awake - even younger. Love it! Great price to just $12 for 30ml on Amazon. Nuxe Ultra nourishing lip balm Winter has really taken its toll on my face and lips. My lips looked horrible, dry, and cracked. Something needed to be done, fast! Enter Nuxe Ultra nourishing lip balm. Massage this balm into the lips; its gorgeous thick and creamy texture gave me instant relief. You can also use it as an overnight mask to wake up with smooth, nourished lips. Seriously good at $10, you can’t go wrong. Caudalie hand and nail cream When getting my nails done recently the manicurist commented on how dry and sore my hand looked, and she gave me a great tip. Caudalie hand and nail cream is brilliant. It nourishes, protects, and repairs dry hands. It is not greasy at all and smells amazing; a delicate perfume of musk, neroli, and ginger - seriously good, and at only $9.50 you can’t lose! If anyone had told me I could sort out my dry skin for just over $30 I would not have believed them, but it’s true and you can save more money by ordering the bigger sizes. So what are you waiting for? After all those summer cocktail
This beauty elixir has not worked well for me either, it causes me burning when applied. Caudalie is a clean brand that uses essential oils in some of its products. Many people don’t recommend essential oils for topical use as they can cause irritation, photosensitivity, etc. TBH I really believe that the ingredients (essential oils) of this product are the cause of irritation or maybe alcohol. It smells delicious and many people recommend it but it didn't work for me. CAUDALIE - Beauty Elixir
CAUDALIE - VINOSOURCE S.O.S INTENSE MOISTURIZING CREAM Product claim: intense moisturizing cream with antioxidant-rich grapes to deeply hydrate (from caudalie.com) Key ingredients: borage oil, vinolevure, olive squalane, organic grape water, polyphenols Texture: rich and creamy My experience: I have heard mixed reviews of this moisturizer so I was on the edge when I was initially trying this moisturizer out. I really like the texture of this moisturizer; it has a very rich, creamy and thick consistentency. I use this moisturizer during my PM routine to seal in my routine. After using this moisturizer for about two weeks I can say that I am really enjoying this product 😍 I love it's thick texture and how moisturizing it! It does have a hint of fragrance in it but I personally don't mind. The only thing I would say is that it does leave a white cast if you don't properly massage it into the skin but other than that I am loving this moisturizer! Also the ingredients are amazing 😍
Caudalie gifted me their SOS Hydration kit that includes their cult-favorite Beauty Elixir facial mist, Vinosource SOS Intense Moisturizing Cream and their SOS Thirst Wuenching Serum. I had already tried both the mist (one of my HGs as far as refreshing face mists go) and the cream but heard great things about the serum. I’m seriously impressed! I’ve been pairing this with a facial oil at night and have been waking up with the softest, hydrated skin every morning. It’s probably one of the best hydrating serums I’ve tried tbh.

Favorite Hydrating Serums
This is probably my favorite step in my skincare routine, and it was really hard to narrow it down, but these are the three that I love the most. All three have a really light texture, but the Caudalie and the Philosophy are much thinner, while the Le Dew has a more viscous texture (similar to the inside of an aloe leaf). CAUDALIE - Vinosource S.O.S Thirst-Quenching Serum My all-time HG serum, it never lets me down and provides a light layer of hydration. This is not at all sticky or tacky. It has a super hydrating effect which infuses the skin with the most amount of hydration that I’ve ever experienced in a serum. I’ve purchased more of these than I can count and it’s a product that I always have on hand. Fun fact: for years, I would only cleanse with Soy Face cleanser then put on a pump or two of this! philosophy - Renewed Hope in A Jar Dew Facial Serum I don’t use this for “dewiness,” (I am a big fan of matte skin) but rather because it is so great at fixing texture issues. I feel that my skin always looks smoother and more even when I use this. Texture is not something that hydrating serums usually tackle, so I find that to be a really amazing side-benefit. This dries down slightly tacky, but not so much so that it bothers me. LE DEW. - BABY SMOOTH HA Facial Serum This stuff is gold! I absolutely love using this as my first layer of serum. It is hydrating without being sticky and feels like a drink of water for your skin. I am so so so impressed. The only thing I wish is that it came in a larger bottle because I finished this serum in about three weeks, which seems a bit crazy to me. Which one do I prefer? I can honestly say that I love all three of them. I’d definitely repurchase all three and can’t choose one over the other. The Caudalie SOS is the one I’ve repurchase the most of the three, but I find that I have reason to justify having all three in my collection.
Sensitive Skin Saving Duo
My skin often gets really sensitive because I have allergies that are exacerbated seasonally. This usually happens to me closer to beginning of the spring/summer season. Whenever there is more pollen in the air, I get a really intense hive-like reaction all across my body. During this time, I have to keep my routine super simple to avoid making it worse. My simple routine consists of two steps — a gentle cleanse and hydration. While I’ve tried many different combinations, this is the one that assures that my skin will be happy. CLEANSE — fresh - Soy Face Cleanser Limited Edition This cleanser is super gentle, and has been a staple of mine for years. I can’t recommend it enough for absolutely everyone. The gentle nature of this cleanser makes it perfect for all skin types from oily to dry. This cleanser allows me to actually cleanse my skin without drying it out or compromising my skin barrier further. This is a perfect cleanser all the time, but when my skin is ultra-sensitive, it is a complete life-saver. HYDRATE — CAUDALIE - Vinosource S.O.S Thirst-Quenching Serum The perfect ultra-hydrating, soothing serum? YES. I discovered this serum around the same time as the cleanser, and it is absolutely one of the most hydrating serums I’ve ever used. Much like other Caudalie products, the inclusion of grape water infuses the skin with hydration that lasts. I can’t recommend this product enough. When my skin is irritated, this lightweight serum is one of the best and most effective hydrators. It’s formula ensures the delivery of hydration without irritation. The next time your skin is irritated or feeling sensitive, I highly recommend you check out this duo!
Caudalie Hydration Set Review
💦My favourite is the serum I love how it keeps my skin hydrated and happy! It’s lightweight and non greasy since I do have combination skin I love how perfect it is! It also absorbs very fast into my skin and it drinks it all up! The moisturizing cream is good too after I apply the serum I layer this on top and especially when I know the temp will go down to -30 this is just enough for my skin to be extra moisturized and hydrated! The beauty elixir omgoshhhhh keeps my skin so refreshed that I can’t live without it, when I need that extra dose of skin refreshers I use it and to be honest it’s kinda addicting 🙈 .
If you have dry skin you need this in your life! The @peterthomasrothofficial Water Drench Line has been a savior to me. And yessss you need all 3! The moisturizer you guys know I’m obsessed with it it feels like a cloud! It’s somewhere between the texture of gel and a cream. The serum keeps me hydrated all day and night, it’s been helping keep my skin balanced as the weather down here is 40 degrees in the morning, 80 in the middle of the day and 60s at night 🙄. I think to me it’s thicker that usual HA serums but not so thick it doesn’t sink into the skin. Also kudos to PTR team this toner/ face mist in one is a dream! Every hydrating toner needs to have a spray bottle. I love how fine the mist is. And I use it in place of an essence too! Which makes the spray nozzle all the better. This is definitely great for anyone with any skin type. I also love that this whole line is fragrance free making is perfect for sensitive skin.
PETER THOMAS ROTH-Mini Water Drench Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer
Skincare Favorites ✨ I am going home this evening and am so excited to see my siblings, my parents, and my grandparents! 🥰 I’ve been loving the products and they’ve been keeping my skin hydrated and less dull! The drbarbarasturm hyaluronic serum is so amazing, it leaves my skin plump and ready for the next layers, and a few nights a week (I’m so scared of over exfoliating lol) I’ll use a small amount of the sundayriley good genes which really does help exfoliate my skin beautifully and never leaves me feeling extra dry. I’ve especially been loving the caudalie vinoperfect glycolic night cream* which gently resurfaces but hydrated deeply with one of my favorite ingredients, squalane! I don’t use it in conjunction with the good genes bc that’s a bit much for my skin, but on the nights I do use the night cream, I definitely notice a smoother complexion!
DR. BARBARA STURM-Hyaluronic Serum
I've been testing lots of new goodies! This time is for Caudalie Ultimate Hydration Duo: SOS Serum + SOS Cream and the Earth Month Clean Caudalie Favorites kit. This is a new brand for me and I was excited to dive in head first! Caudualie makes products vegan, non-toxic, cruelty-free, hypoallergenic, safe for sensitive skin and free of all fillers, synthetic chemicals, gluten, and GMOs. So obviously, this is my style and i'm here for it! Here are some simple reviews on a few of my favorites: Premier Cru// the texture of this eye cream is thick out of the tube but melts into your skin. The finish is not greasy and is great for day or night. Beauty Elixir//As a primer this can be used to prep the skin but it also works as a setting spray to keep your makeup in place. It has essential oils and is also a censorial experience. I like it--but if you have issues with EO's this won't be your fave. Vinosource S.O.S. Cream// I love the light, unique smell of this cream. It is intensely hydrating and has been my go to on nights when my skin needs to be soothed and hydrated. And this color calls my naaammmmeee.

The Ordinary-100% Cold Pressed Virgin Marula Oil
Empties! Here are speed reviews of each skincare product I've actually used up to the very last bit and the answer to that important question - "Would I repurchase?". Caudalie Moisturizing Toner - I've used it as my morning and evening toner, it's refreshing and makes the skin feel awake and hydrated. I enjoyed this one and found that it gave a good boost of hydration and lightly scented. However, I found Indie Lee CoQ-10 toner that I prefer because I think the ingredients are more clean and natural that just feels better on my skin. So there won't be a repurchase of this for me. HerbivoreBotanicals Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist - It's my second bottle and I actually purchased the third one already. So I guess that answers the question of whether I'd repurchase it or not. I feel like I've spoken about this product so many times already, but basically it's a hydrating facial mist that you can spray on after cleansing or whenever you like during the day. It's such a great makeup refresher and general skin picker-upper. LaRochePosay Toleriane Ultra Eye Contour - I'd heard a couple of good things about this cream for sensitive eyes. It's definitely the one that soothe my eyes when it was irritated by retinol. It's not greasy and good for day time under makeup too. So, there will be a repurchase of this. SensatiaBotanicals Indian Fig Finishing Dream Cream - I can't believe I finished this one, because it's such a thick cream inside this little jar that lasted me for months! I only use it at night, since it's heavy and a little bit greasy. It certainly leaves my complexion comfortable and content. The heavenly smell is what keeps me going back to this every night. I just feel like there are better ones out there with lighter formula. So no repurchase from me. SKII Facial Treatment Essence - Basically it's a hydrating water-type product that you slap on after cleansing and it preps my skin for whatever I put on next, whilst dousing it in a layer of dewiness. It's golden, I love it and I will continue to buy bottle after bottle all the while my skin drinks it up. BUT, I read so many review comparing this essence with Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence, so I currently trying it. So far I think I go back to SK-II (spoiler!). TheOrdinary Marine Hyaluronics - Even though the smell is not very enjoyable, actually I quite like having a bottle of this hanging around. It's hydrating and leaves my skin completely plump. But because the smell, I won't repurchase this, instead I will get the original HA 2% + B5 from The Ordinary or continue using For Skin's Sake HA serum as they both work as wonderful as the Marine one.
