Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Gel - so calming
This is a product I was a bit wary about, despite the rave reviews. I was wary of the botanicals (cucumber, thyme, eucalyptus, grapefruit, the list goes on). I’m not against botanicals, per se, but they always have the potential to trigger an allergic reaction. But I love it! On me it’s only soothing and hydrating. It has fed my skin with humectants, calmed redness from my seasonal allergies, supported post-breakout healing. My skin just drinks it up! It also contains hyaluronic acid. I drop two or three drops onto my finger pads and press into my skin, concentrating it along my jawline and the lower outer part of my face.

This skinceuticals phyto corrective serum is advertised to calm and neutralize redness in the skin. I have gotten a few samples of it, no scent is nice and it absorbs super quick. it does bring down redness slightly after exfoliation but it does not hydrate or do anything for acne scarring. A full bottle is under $70 , and all skinceuticals bottles last a long time because they are medical grade, so if your problem is roseca it might be better for you but I honestly would want a serum that is more hydrating. I will not be purchasing. They have a phyto plus serum and mask that I think works much better!
Barecat Revitalize & Repair Daily Facial Serum
After reading the reviews on their website & researching the effects of CBD in skincare, I was hopeful that this would help with some of the struggles I have been dealing with when it comes to my skin. I had texture (so. much. texture) on my cheeks, active breakouts, and insane redness on both cheeks (thank you rosacea). Trust me when I say that I have tried MANY things to clear up these issues but my skin has been on another level this last few months and nothing was working. Enter this serum; within 3 days (seriously) my skin had completely changed. The biggest thing I noticed was how well it cleared up all the inflammation that was going on. If you are dealing with any of the skin concerns I have mentioned, I highly recommend trying out this serum. It applies well under all of my other skincare and also makes a great base to apply makeup on top of - I honestly can’t express how much I love this stuff and don’t ever want to run out of it. *product gifted but thoughts are my own
Awake Asleep Parsely
If you've followed along with me for a bit, you'll know I have combo/acne prone skin. Outside of just acne, I also deal with redness and inflammation. One of my favorite ingredients for treating redness is Centella, and the Awake Asleep Parsely Serum is chock full of it. The serum is thin with an oily finish, which leaves my skin incredibly dewy and bouncy. I really love using it in the wintertime as it nourishes my skin and hydrates it so thoroughly. I enjoy this product because it is both hydrating and kills redness in my completion incredibly well. Finding a product that helps with redness, acne, and dryness all in one can sometimes be difficult, but this one does a great job improving on all of these conditions. I would recommend this for all skin types- oily/ normal skin can get by with one layer, and drier skin types can build this up to the level of hydration they desire. Giving this 4/5 stars, removing 1 star as it is somewhat difficult to find to purchase
Ample N peptide shot ampoule - Combines patented peptides and active ingredients in ideal proportions, recalling forgotten skin elasticity. The serum is quickly absorbed into the skin and immediately feels suppler, nourished and radiant. Main Ingredients: Niacinamide is applied to the skin for treating eczema and inflammatory acne vulgaris), adenosine (Yeast-derived ingredient that functions as a good soothing and skin-restoring agent.), panthenol (used in cosmetics and beauty products primarily as a lubricant, emollient and moisturizer), pearl extract (The extract of freshwater pearl is used to give skin an instant youthful, glow. Some studies have also shown that pearl extract may reduce skin discoloration and redness), peptide 10050 ppb (It contains 3 peptides which have the ability to penetrate the top layer of skin and communicate with our cells telling them what to do!) Ok – enough of the scientific stuff. This is certainly one of the cooler products I have received as you can see the peptides (yes, they look like worms), but they absorb right in! It does leave a slight tackiness after using that dissipates with moisturizer. I use as a serum in my routine after toner and before moisturizer. If you are scent sensitive this is not for you as it had a strong floral scent. It also contains alcohol which bummed me out because I try to avoid that in a skincare product. So I’m on the fence with this one. I’ll use it up though to see if it makes a difference in any way. I will update this post down the line if I end up repurchasing. I believe it is under $20 as I saw it on eBay.
Valjean Labs Smooth and Hydrate Serum
alrighty, so, I was planning on just posting about acne products for this week but I included the Hydrate serum because I feel like they pair well together, especially since everyone’s skin is drying out in the winter months 😫 okay, i ADORE these products! 💓 first, I love that they are vegan and cruelty-free. second, the ingredients lists aren’t crazy long so that makes me happy. third, they’re both $15 which isn’t bad considering i’ve been seeing results! 🙌🏻 the Smooth serum is intended to exfoliate and reduce acne scars & redness and let me tell you it works! I use this everyday and would highly recommend! 💓 the texture is a viscous, slightly creamy liquid but it’s not sticky at all! the Hydrate serum does what it says it will and hydrates your skin with lovely ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 🥰 the texture, which you can’t see well in any picture I took (rip), is watery and lightweight, which I like because it sinks into your skin and hydrates immediately! overall, these products are five stars and I absolutely plan on repurchasing! ✨
Tea Tree Purifine Essence
Let's talk acne. I've dealt with it since I was 12, and at age 25 there is no sign of it letting up. So, for the next few days I'll be reviewing some of the acne fighters I've been recently testing! To start us off- the Dr. Ceuracle Tea Tree Purifine 95 Essence. If you're unfamiliar with essences, they are used between your toner and serum step. This particular essence has a texture that is watery, with a slight gel slip. It leaves my skin very comfortable and dewy, but not oily. Containing tea tree, this essence is formulated to treat and prevent acne and irritation. I find that when using this essence, it helps to calm my skin and reduce the redness and irritation that I get when I break out. This means in the long run that my breakouts are less frequent, and they heal much faster. This brand has been renamed a few times, and as such I am uncertain if they have re-formulated since their initial launch. I've tried both the original and this new bottle, and I find that the results I get are pretty much the same. I like this product as it is lightweight and refreshing, my only negative is that the price fluctuates hugely- I've seen it anywhere from $13-35 for a 50ml bottle. If you can find this for less than $20, I would recommend you give it a try if you have normal/combo skin and deal with acne- this will help to soothe your skin and hopefully calm acne! I would not recommend this to drier skin types as they may not benefit as much, as the formula is not very hydrating overall. I will give this one 3/5 stars- removing 1 star for the inconsistent price, and removing a second star as it only calms acne instead of preventing it in the first place.
