EASY changes to improve acne!!
Treating acne can be quite complex and confusing wondering what products to use for your skin, however there are some simple changes a person can make to help improve their acne. Just these simple adjustments in a routine can make a difference in inflammation and irritation in your acne. The first change to help improve acne is to keep your routine simple. It is super tempting to want to add all the products targeted towards treating acne and try to get rid of it overnight. Sadly many of these products do more harm than good to your skin, can irritate it or cause more acne in the process. What does keeping your routine simple mean? This means cleansing, using a toner, moisturizer, sunscreen and a targeted treatment to help treat any acne on the face. Less is more when it comes to treating acne, because topical ingredients can be irritating to the skin causing dryness or flaking. Pimple patches also known as hydrocolloid bandages have been used for years in the medical field, for injuries and to help aid in wound healing. Acne is a type of wound which is a great reason to use the bandages on them, specifically on white heads, pustules and cysts. Patches come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some patches now include micro points with targeted ingredients for brightening and acne too. One of the more common BHAs to treat acne is Salicylic acid or Willow Bark Extract. There are some other star ingredients that work to treat acne like sulphur, zinc oxide, benzoyl peroxide and azealic acid. Sulphur is not a common ingredient due to the smell, but it treats acne by absorbing excess sebum (oil), exfoliates and antibacterial properties. Zinc oxide is an antioxidant most commonly found in mineral/physical sunscreens but has anti-inflammatory properties, making it perfect to use for inflamed or acneic skin. Benzoyl Peroxide works by killing bacteria, increases cell turnover in the skin, absorbing excess sebum in the skin, and making it perfect for all the types of acne (whiteheads, blackheads, cysts, pustules and papules). While benzoyl peroxide is amazing for treating acne it can be drying and/or irritating on the skin if overused so it is important to remember this. Lastly azelaic acid, an ingredient that isn’t quite as popular but packs a punch, by reducing inflammation in the skin, as well as it exfoliates and helps with uneven skin tone. The highest percentage you can find without a prescription is 10%, which is just as effective in treatment of acne. #CheriePartner

PM skincare for acne!
Hi friends❤️ in this post I am going to go through the products I use on nights that I am not using DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel Step 1: First cleanse I raved about theTHE inkey LIST - Oat Cleansing Balm in my other PM skincare post! This is one of my favorite products in my whole routine. Very soothing and removes all makeup! Did I mention it’s only $10 freaking dollars?!? Step 2: second cleanse GLYTONE - Acne BPO Clearing Cleanser I just started incorporating a benzoyl peroxide cleanser on the nights I do not use differin because I have never tried benzoyl peroxide for my acne besides spot treatments. Spot treatments with BPO always burn my skin so I thought this cleanser would be a great alternative! It feels very hydrating and non stripping on my skin, it has 4.5% benzoyl peroxide. I can’t give it 5 stars yet because I just started using it, but I will keep y’all updated! Step 3: toner I never use the PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator on the same nights I use the benzoyl peroxide cleanser. But I have loved this product so far. I focus this mostly on my t zone where I get a lot of clogged pores and it seems to be helping so far! Step 4: moisturizer/mask LANEIGE - Cica Sleeping Mask I have been wanting to try this product for a long time because I have a lot of redness from active acne and scarring. I use it as a moisturizer/ leave in mask some nights and it is very soothing and hydrating. It can feel greasy if you put too much on, a little goes a long way! I am not 100% sure if I would repurchase because I haven’t had any drastic results and it is a bit pricey at $34. Step 5: pimple patches! I use HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewell almost every night on any white heads I might have and they keep me from picking yayyyy!!
Acne Skin Routine 🧴
I have acne-prone skin so I do this routine 1-2 times a week. I start by using the DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil to remove sunscreen and/or makeup. Although this one clogged my pores and made me break out, I still want to finish it before I find a new one. Next, I use the CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin to gently cleanse while exfoliating. I’ve been using this for a few months and haven’t noticed transforming results like others have. I tone with the peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner which has snail mucin (anti-aging), hyaluronic acid (hydrating), Centella Asiatica (soothing), and Tocopherol (Vitamin E). Overall great toner! I mildly exfoliate again with the VERSED - JUST BREATHE Clarifying Serum which has willow bark, niacinamide, sodium hyaluronate, zinc gluconate, and more. Finally, I moisturize with the cocokind - Texture smoothing cream which I have been loving! It has a lot of squalane which hydrates while balancing oils. Occasionally, I also use pimple patches when I’m breaking out (which is often). My favorite ones are the HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewell ones.
MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion Key Ingredient list: . Isopropyl alcohol: This is a simple alcohol (vs fatty alcohol) which can dry out the skin in large concentration. . Calamine: Helps dry out pimples caused by excess oil faster and can also help soothe the skin from mild irritation. . Salicylic Acid: This is a BHA, which is a chemical exfoliator. It helps unclog your pores by penetrating into your pores to get rid of dead skin cells, bacteria, and grime. . Sulfur: Helps dry out the surface of your skin to help absorb excess oil. It also dries out dead skin cells to help unclog pores. . Zinc Oxide: It has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, helping to heal wounds. . Glycerin: This is a humectant which helps draw water from the air into your skin, keeping your skin hydrated. . Camphor: Has antibacterial and antifungal properties which helps heal pimples. . ✨Removing excess oil can help heal acne quicker. However, overdrying acne can also make it worse. I think @mariobadescu got their formula right with this spot treatment. They’ve used the right concentration of each “drying” ingredient so your acne does not get worse. I’ve never experienced worsened acne after applying this spot treatment. It truly dries up my acne overnight! My acne generally looks less inflamed or smaller the next day. They hardly ever become pus-filled the next day because the spot treatment dries them up. . There are two nit-pick cons to this spot treatment: . 1. You have to store the bottle vertically so that the layer of pink sediment remains on the bottom of the bottle (ie the good stuff). If you look closely at my picture, the solution is a cloudy pink because the bottle would not remain in a slanted position and kept dropping! When stored properly, you’ll see a distinct separation between the pink sediment layer and the clear solution. The pink sediment resettles once you store the bottle vertically again. . 2. You need to dip a cotton swab into the pink sediment, which settles on the bottom of the bottle. I am trying to imagine how I am going to fully use up all the pink sediment since the tip of my cotton swab does not even hit the bottom of the bottle.

⭐️Face Serum for Acne
Mario Badescu has quite a few gems and this product does not stay behind . It is the Anti Acne Serum ⭐️ Function : it balances , hydrates , and help clear skin that is prone to acne . Its a lightweight, fast-absorbing gel formulated with salicylic acid and thyme extract which clarifies the skin and exfoliates away the pore-clogging sebum and dead skin cells known to cause breakouts ⭐️Product Target: It’s targeted for people who breakout often ⭐️Texture & Consistency : it’s a clear gel like substance ⭐️My opinion I really like this product , it feels lightweight and cool on the skin unlike some other serums . That’s what made me buy it , how refreshing it felt . I’ve used this on and off for about a year . I definitely see results , it not only clears my face when I experience acne but it prevents me from breaking out too . I would definitely recommend . This product is only recommend for night use , before moisturizer . This is priced $20 at Ulta for a 1 oz bottle . MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Anti Acne Serum

Why I LOVE Salicylic Acid!
I have combination oily skin that has been breaking out more often lately. My skin concern as of lately has been acne and trying to reduce the marks left behind afterwards. My favorite ingredient to help with acne is salicylic acid because it acts as an exfoliant that removes dead skin cells and reveals smoother skin by breaking the connections between cells and allows the removal of the outermost layer of skin. It has the ability to improve skin’s texture by exfoliating both the outer and inner skin layers, which reduces unevenness and encourages skin turnover. This also helps quickly reduce painful blemishes and pimples because it reduces oil, clogged pores and swelling. My favorite product that contains salicylic acid is the Murad - Outsmart Acne Clarifying Treatment ! I have seen a lot of beauty bloggers on Instagram posting about the benefits of salicylic acid, so I was super excited when this product was a free gift from Ulta as part of their Diamond Day/Perk Day. I’ve tried other products with salicylic acid so decided to give this one a try too! I use this product as my PM serum a couple of times (usually 2-3) a week so that I don’t experience the drying side effects that can come with overusing it. I’ve been using it for a couple of months now and have noticed a drastic improvement in the number of breakouts I get and the amount of time they stay for. It is a lightweight gel serum that is soothing so I think it’d be harder to get those side effects (especially since the directions say to use it AM and PM, but I like using other serums also, depending on my skin needs). I’ve noticed my skin has recovered from breakouts faster and I haven’t been getting breakouts as often. . Price: $44 for 1.7 oz
Murad-Outsmart Acne Clarifying Treatment
I can suffer from really bad acne (thankfully at the moment it’s under control but I still do like to apply salicylic acid nightly) on my chin. I was looking to replace what I was currently using so this came at a perfect time. This acne treatment is the consistency of a thin lotion that absorbs into the skin. The directions say you apply it to the area after cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. It does smell like tea tree (which I’m not a fan of essential oils in skin. I didn’t experience any irritation, dryness, or breakouts so that ingredient is up to your discretion) which I didn’t mind. It has both salicylic and lactic acid. The lactic acid will help dissolve the bonds that hold dead skin cells together allowing the salicylic acid to go deep into the pore and clean it out. My skin isn’t the hugest fan of lactic acid but like I said above I didn’t experience any breakouts from using this so I’m happy. They say their benefits include fighting active breakouts, prevents new breakouts, soothes redness, swelling, and irritation, cleans out the pores, and supports faster healing. All in all my chin has been clear all month which makes me happy but because of the tea tree oil I probably won’t continue use after it’s gone. I feel like if you have skin that has breakouts, really benefits from lactic acid, and don’t mind tea tree oil this would be perfect for you.
GEORGETTE KLINGER-Acne Spot Relief
How to treat acne with combo skin ! 👏🏻
Hey everyone, I wanted to share products that have really helped my acne, as I have combo/oily skin. It's also important to keep in mind how often to use products, because using it not enough could mean mild or missed benefits, or too much can result in harm to the skin like increased oil production or damage to the skin barrier (chemical exfoliants do this). Anyway, here they are :) I hope they help people out! Glossier. - Solution Exfoliating Skin Perfector - it's a chemical exfoliant and I use it every other day or every three days, since it can dry out the skin or create more acne when used too often. It's really good for drying out pimples, but can sometimes cause dehydration. I use two pumps on my face and it's good to use a very good moisturizer (like the Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich) so the skin can have moisture back. You don't have to worry about the pores being clogged up by the moisturizer if you let the Solution dry on your face and if you let your skin heal for a minute. This way the moisturizer doesn't just sit into any open pores or open pimple wounds. Glossier. - Super Pure Niacinamide + Zinc Serum - I love this serum and it's definitely my favorite of the Glossier Supers!! I love how it doesn't get clumpy, is easy to apply, and is in a well-designed bottle. It's a niacinimide and zinc serum that targets oil, acne, and uneven skintone. I use this when I have acne all over, but not when I need the Solution to basically get everything out at once. It's a gentler way to dry out acne and get rid of oil than the Solution, plus my acne and uneven skintone have definitely gotten better from this. Glossier. - Priming Moisturizer Balance - I use this on my t zone because it keeps my t zone hydrated without causing excess oil production. I find that it hydrates my skin enough because it doesn't just sit on top of the skin like some moisturizers do. This one immediately soaks in and has a consistency like a thinner Milky Jelly cleanser. Clearasil - Daily Clear Vanishing Acne Treatment Cream - I use this when I have a stubborn pimple or a few, but I use it on the days I don't use the Glossier Solution for any acne I have. It's 10% benzol peroxide and it really dries up pimples as a spot treatment. It can be used on blackheads too to get them to form a 'head' as well. It's really good for those stubborn pimples that won't go away and it works the best on whiteheads and pustules. It's available in tinted and clear, but I recommend using the clear one since it's best in a nighttime skin routine so it can do it's magic. Thanks for reading!! Hope this helps anyone on their skincare journey! :) 💕✨ Also the bullet point formatting is difficult to fix and I hope that the bullet point feature can be fixed in this app because it gets annoying when you delete one bullet and then they all get messed up. 🤷🏼♀️ Clearasil photo credit: Walmart.com

This is one of my favorites products!
HERO COSMETICS - Mighty Patch Original for Madewell Not only is this acne patch amazing, but it’s also drug-free and great for my super sensitive skin! This is one of the only acne treatments that hasn’t irritated my skin and it works wonders for stubborn blemishes! I couldn’t be happier with this product, it’s super easy to use and the results are amazing. It helps to reduce inflammation & redness caused by a pimple and extract impurities from the blemish. It also helps to keep you from touching and picking at the blemish, which can spread bacteria and irritate skin.
