Quick reviews on samples

beautiewithjenI’d like to add that I NEVER use my Sephora points unless it’s for a product I’ve been considering purchasing and I will never use over 100 points on a sample. Their program can be so deceiving so BE AWARE! I’d rather save up my points to 2,500 and turn them in for $100 GC versus using them on tiny samples such as these. I only used points for Tatcha eye serum. The rest were Beauty Offers. I’m currently 2 points away from my $100 GC, which is a battle in itself to score. 🙄 The last time I reached 2,500 it took me approximately 3 months to snatch the GC. They are rare and extremely hard to get, which is a bunch of BS! Yet you can turn in 500 on an order to save $10. Just do the math! What a joke! $45 or $100!?!? Again, BE AWARE & BE SMART!

I have way too many samples... I’ll start with the ones I can truly give a solid review on because I’ve tried them several times, but we’ll get through them all together eventually🥰 Dr. Jart+ - Ceramidin Cream This cream has a great complex of ceramides, & helped my friends dry skin patches from psoriasis... but the very strong herbal smell I think from the sage oil is way too much for me. I can’t use it because I get nauseous. PEACH & LILY - Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream Didn’t like this personally... I really wanted it to smell like matcha 🍵it’s one of my favorite scents, but this smells very citrusy & turns into a kinda yucky dirt smell... Texture is very nice but it kind of made burning/itching sensations. DIOR - Capture Dreamskin Care & Perfect One of Dior’s more expensive products, & it sucks. Smells like old lady lotion in the worst of ways & is basically a very greasy primer with a bit of peachy shimmer in it. I had a lot of these at one point, tried to find a use—-Major pass. IGK - Mistress Hydrating Hair Balm 🥥I love this! Great texture, a completely non-greasy, lightweight, matte gel that doesn’t weigh down my hair at all. It slicked down flyaways & broken hairs by my part really well & gave subtle natural definition to my waves. I would definitely consider buying the full size, it’s vegan, cruelty free, gluten free & free of petroleum products, sulfates & parabens. Great light scent that’s hard to put my finger on but reminds of a fancy salon. Milk MAKEUP - Sunshine Oil This was very thin, runny & hard to control. It has a very simple natural ingredients list, with grape seed & avocado oils as the first 2 ingredients, but It’s also full of citrus oils like grapefruit peel, tangerine peel, mandarin peel & lemon peel oil. There’s not much else in it, & it really irritated my skin unfortunately. Kate Somerville - ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment This lactic acid & papaya enzyme based exfoliating treatment creates nice temporary results for me. My skin is very smooth after & with no redness, however, even after layers of hydration my skin is still so dry. I can see my skin drink up my essence & serum like never before & I struggle to get hydration back. I checked the ingredients & it has denatured alcohol! Yikes🧐 BITE - Agave+ Weekly Vegan Lip Scrub A great natural lip scrub. It smells wonderful like something caramelized & delicious. But I’d prefer a bit more exfoliant. MAKE UP FOR EVER - Aqua XL Color Paint Shadow shade: M56 This is waterproof af, check my swatches. Blended nicely but do it fast lol, dries to a powdery finish. This would probably make great eyeliner if you’re steady with a brush! 💕Kehlani looks stunning! ANNA SUI - Fantasia Mermaid Eau de Toilette Smells like Christmas time at stores? I like it😂
Here are the products I will definitely be using to glow for Postalservice10014 ✨ after all the shopping i did in Korea, I was going to do a no-buy but broke it by buying this Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Glow and the Makeupforever brush. I love using this brush for this palette for an all-over contoured glow look with subtle highlights. I seriously don't know how I lived before this! The best primer/skin perfector is Dior's DreamSkin - this really promises that instant perfection before you apply your makeup and coupled this with the Wonder Glow, I promise you will be glowing like no other.
Tried, wouldn't buy.
So I received this sample of the LANEIGE - Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer in a Sephora package and thought the idea of a toner/moisturizer duo seemed like a good idea! While there may be duos out there that work brilliantly, this did not make the cut for me. It's creamy, but it dries into a weird oily/sticky feel on the face. I had washed my face and applied this and nothing else (hoping it would dry??) After an hour I formed two small little pustules on my nose and my skin felt tacky and looked oily. Tried it, wouldn't buy it!
❄️Laneige Essential Power Toner for dry skin❄️
🥛As I was finishing off my Laneige Cream Skin, I already regretted buying one this instead. It’s not terrible, I just realized immediately that I like their Cream Skin Toner so0oO0o much better! 🧊This slightly translucent blue bottle is gorgeous though! It’s plastic, but very sturdy & well made. LANEIGE - Essential Power Skin Toner for Normal to Dry Skin $28/6.7 oz 🔹Though this is a much better deal per oz than Cream Skin, it does contain Alcohol (3rd ingredient) & fragrance (last ingredient) while ‘Laneige Cream Skin’ is alcohol & fragrance free. 🌀Overall this isn’t a horrible toner for dry skin, but it’s not a good choice for sensitive skin. It’s heavily fragranced. 💦I also don’t like the slightly gelatinous, yet somehow very watery texture. It feels a little slimey. Though it doesn’t dry out my skin or anything, I didn’t like the slightly sticky feeling afterwards. The container does make it really easy to dispense without a mess, which I do appreciate. The scent is a sort of floral/clean refreshing smell, but you do get notes of alcohol. I’m not super sensitive to fragrance, but I don’t like alcohol smell😕 ❄️The formula does have a lot of good hydrating ingredients like Prickly Pear extract, Panthenol (provitamin B5), Amino acids, Vitamin-rich Silver Birch & Quinoa extracts. It’s also enriched with moisture enhancing minerals Zinc, Manganese, Magnesium, Sodium, Calcium & Potassium which are ionized & stabilized in water, designed to absorb quicker into skin. ◻️I tried it with & without a cotton pad for application experimentation, but wasn’t feelin it that much either way. I’ll definitely finish it, but since I had to reorder cream skin, I’ll probably start alternating. I also don’t use a toner 2x a day or necessarily every day. Kinda depends on how my skin feels. 🤷🏻♀️Toners are definitely a debated topic. I won’t be the one to tell you need one at all. I’ve just been using them in my skincare routine foreverr & I enjoy that addition to my routine. I like my skin to feel balanced & refreshed after cleansing... But what I will say is: a toner is not meant to further clean your skin or remove last bits of makeup after cleansing. If your cotton pad shows grime or makeup, it means your cleansing routine (even if you’re double-cleansing) may not be effective enough. Experiment with different methods. Everyone’s needs will be different. 💄I know some people like to use a Micellar water after cleansing if they think they haven’t removed all their makeup. ☁️So this product was definitely not a favorite as far as texture & feel. There are way better toners out there... I think I really couldn’t help but compare it to LANEIGE - Cream Skin Toner & Moisturizer ($33/5 oz) but that was such a winner for me & a unique product. Check out my previous review & aLANEIGE - Cream Skin Mistreview is coming 🔜 Are toners a part of your routine? What’s your current fav? #CherieCreator 🍒🧊
REN Skincare for Maskacne
I told you guys I would buy the full size of these babies because I loved them so much! After I wear a mask all day long and my skin feels all gunked up I use the ren radiance toner and this dark spot overnight cream. It just gets rid of any oncoming acne it is a god send! And the recovery balm I actually use before I have to put a mask on for 8 hours because it traps in the moisture better then anything I’ve tried before. And it does leave my face baby soft so that’s a plus! 5/5 love love love these two
REN calming line
Okay here’s the review in the REN calm line The overnight balm? A fricken godsend, don’t listen to the reviews that say it is like rubbing Vaseline on your face, they probably used way too much. I squirt out a pea sized amount, Rub it in between my fingers to warm it up and rub it on my face. Honestly reminds me of a face oil so much I’m convinced it’s a face oil in solid form. I love it. It beats out using face oil to lock my moisture in my face when I wear a mask during work. Amazing product. I did buy the full size already I loved it so much! Global protection day cream- nice whipped texture, it does have essential oils but they are so concentrated and low on the list that they should not cause acne or bug your skin at all. They didn’t bug my skin at all it’s been very glowy and smooth even using this so I’m impressed. Only downside it does have a smell, like rubbing herbs on your face. I don’t mind it that much but early in the morning when I’m going to eat breakfast I don’t need to smell it while I’m eating toast you know? The smell does go away don’t worry it just takes an hour or two sadly. I’m still torn on whether or not I’ll repurchase this one because it did treat my skin very well you guys idk The calm serum- smells like baby perfume, honestly did nothing for my skin, sure might have hydrated it a bit but nothing amazing that I took notice. And for the price tag of the full size serum? Not worth it. I also saw no redness claiming affect The winner here is the overnight balm, it’s heaven. The runner up is the global protection cream I’m still on the fence about it. And the loser is the calming serum.
Weekly Treatment Schedule
I have a set, written down schedule for all my treatments for the month, because I have a really bad memory and find that if I don’t write stuff down I tend to over use or under use the products. This is how my routine was all through 2020, and have had no problem so far. I use The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane 3 times a week, on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Saturday’s. I’m pretty experienced when it comes to retinol, so I feel comfortable using it 3 times a week. This is also the only one of my schedules that isn’t set in stone. When my skin is feeling more sensitive, or is feeling very dry, I might only use this 2 times a week. I exfoliate using the YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner and the SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment 2 times a week on Tuesday’s and Sunday’s. I usually use these on the same days, but again, if my skin is feeling sensitive or dry, I will leave out the toner and just use the serum. I use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution once a week for 10 minutes, I use this on Thursday’s and Friday’s are my resting day where I focus on repairing and hydrating my skin. 📍= product was sent to me for free

Pretty in pink!
The Alpyn Beauty Melt Moisturizer is so beautiful and smells very earthy! It has a very beautiful pink tint to it. I enjoy this moisturizer but it is not my favorite. It is very thick, and sometimes leaves a dry egg feeling on my face. Which is a no for me. I have very dry and sensitive skin so I though it would be perfect for me! I ended up giving it to my mom who has combo skin and she loved it! She likes it so much that I bought her a new one for her birthday! It is a beautiful skincare line, and I absolutely love the little meanings behind some of their products. For example the pink color of their products is meant to mimic the alpynglow!
It was love at first use with this moisturizer. It is thicker than what I typically use. It hydrates, soothes, and renews my skin. The scent is very subtle, but every time I put it on, I get just a faint whiff of the mountain air where this was created. It really lifts my spirits and reminds me of home. I didn't know a moisturizer could do that. alpyn beauty - PlantGenius Melt Moisturizer
Empties - will I repurchase?
I complied them all together, my empties over the last few months, and will split into two posts. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Facial Radiance Pads I love these for the convenience. They are daily treatments pads with lactic and glycolic acids to safely exfoliate the skin, helping it appear brighter and approve texture. I was able to use these daily if I wished but being I use a retinol I didn’t use them on the night I would use my retinol. For me, they didn’t pack enough punch. I’ve been using a lot one my face over the last few years and while I still have to be careful, I find there are products that just don’t do it for me. These would be great for beginners or those with sensitive skin. 60 pads for $34 - again I liked the convenience but I feel you get more bang for your buck with a liquid exfoliate cause I sure get more then 60 uses out of mine. ⭐️No-repurchase CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Brightening Solution Set I’ve reviewed this before so I am not going to go into details. Please check my page if you’re looking for more info on it. I really do love the serum but I find I like the results I get from using a vitamin c and exfoliating. I need more than just a brightening solution as I have some scaring. The serum in this set is so very good for its brightening abilities. I went through three sets before giving it up. I do notice my face is not as glowy but I’m not sure if that’s from me being a bit more lazy with my skincare routine or from missing this. We’ll see. ⭐️Possible- repurchase YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi Not my favorite but is a good moisturizer. I’ve also reviewed this before. I prefer their Superfood Whip Moisturizer over this as I just like the texture and it’s a great daytime moisturizer for me. More in-depth review on my page ⭐️No-repurchase YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial I’ve reviewed this twice now so please see my page. Thais will be a forever purchase as of now! Definitely a fave of mine. I use once a week. ⭐️ repurchase YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask same as the last. I’ve purchased three so far. My favorite night time moisturizer. More in-depth reviews on my page ⭐️repurchase Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum this formula has changed as it had an ingredient that was bad. I have went through 3 original minis and loved the results but won’t repurchase due to the formula change. I saw almost instant results in spots being lifted. I have now switched to their Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment and it works just as good. I’m continuing to work on stubborn acne spots and when I am consistent with this and exfoliating, my scars and spots are almost invisible! ⭐️repurchase Invisiscar ❤️🍒
Sephora Picks! Include SPF & an a ACNE fighter
Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 $34 This is by far the best sunscreen I’ve ever used. It’s invisible, weightless, DOES NOT PILL, scentless and leaves my skin feeling absolutely ready for makeup or looking fresh for the day if I go without. It blends out those small imperfections for a flawless look. I just love how velvety (silicone) it feels. Murad - Rapid Relief Acne Spot Treatment $23 I first got this with a subscription box and I am glad I did. I don’t get a lot of breakouts but when I do, they sure are pesky. Usually around the time of the month or if I binged on sugar. And so every once and awhile I get this nasty rager that pops up and says, I”m here for the party and I ain’t going anywhere, biotches!!” 🍾 🎉 Seriously it’s takes them weeks to go away! Cause I have broke my habit of picking! 🥇 sure they “may possibly” go away quicker but then I’ll have months of servitude spent trying to get rid of the scar! 👩⚕️ Murad - Rapid Relief Acne Spot Treatment has helped tremendously with those small whiteheads even some of the bigger breakouts. It seriously cuts the time in half. My daughter who gets more day to day breakouts won’t live without it. And she’s been on prescription topical to keep her skin clear. I also like to add Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment $35 I’ve only just started using it but I plan to use it over any acne scar I have and will report back. AND.... I also have enjoyed using Murad - Rapid Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Serum which can only now be purchased online on their site and various others— it’s no longer available at Sephora or Ulta. $25/$76 Hope you all were able to enjoy the sale. I got some great gifts this season? Would you like to see? Let me know and I’ll share them with you through the week. Much love @cheriefamily 🍒😘
Healed in under 1 week! How I prevented scarring
🐺So I have a 9 month old Siberian Husky, he’s got way too much energy for me sometimes. He totally booped me in the eye with his teeth & basically bit my eyelid. I was honestly so f***ing worried, eye skin is so sensitive & my skin scar easily, even from bruising. So how did I get this back to normal in 6 days? First things first... Regularly applying (yup, multiple times a day) SUNSCREEN will help prevent hyperpigmentation. ☀️When you get a cut or bruise, even a baby one, your skin barrier has been compromised. Even the healthiest skin barrier will not protect you from UV rays whatsoever & any new skin growing after an abrasion is extremely susceptible to UV damage, regardless of your skin tone! I’m super pale, but even with skin that doesn’t burn easily, newly generated skin tissue will become darker if you don’t use an SPF to protect it. I included a pic of a scratch I got from my dog several months ago, where I totally didn’t protect it from the sun. I can be lazy about body sunscreen & this proved to me that almost any broken skin will scar if it gets sun. I used: KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 But honestly any sunscreen you like with a decent SPF is key for scar prevention. Reapply & reapply! I love this formula because it’s so moisturizing! Full review in a previous post. Keeping your skin hydrated & moisturized is super important too, you want to give your skin nourishment while it heals. Which brings me to the second most important thing. 🐌A repair serum: Beauty of Joseon - Repair Serum : Ginseng+Snail Mucin I have fully fallen in love with Snail Mucin after this serum! Because Snail Mucin is a stress-induced excretion, it's comprised of ingredients meant to repair or protect from injury. These include growth factors, which work by triggering the growth of new skin cells & new collagen. This particular serum is really affordable-$17. It contains over 3% Snail Mucin & it’s over 63% Ginseng extract, also amazing for skin repair & evening tone. Allantoin is another component in the secretion; healing properties, calms irritation & stimulates cell regeneration Also fragrance/alcohol free! Sulwhasoo - First Care Activating Serum Limited Edition This is also packed with Ginseng & other reparative botanical extracts. This really helps me retain moisture in my skin, I use it 2x a day & have noticed generally brighter & clearer skin in the last few months. You use this after cleansing or toning, before other serums. TATCHA - The Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream After a couple days I added this. ETUDE - SoonJung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream Great for sensitive skin & has vitamin E. I alternated between this &: TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream Also used this: Beauty of Joseon - Glow Serum : Propolis+Niacinamide Almost 60% Propolis + 2% Niacinamide
My skin has been liking me lately😊
Been using these three products for a month and for 43 year old skin I must say they do not disappoint. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% takes away little bumps and patch’s of redness. Helps prevent acne. The Ordinary - Retinol 0.2% in Squalane GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer oil free doesn’t case acne and it feels great in my skin.Kiehl's - Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser I love this face wash doesn’t cause breakouts and leaves skin so soft and clean. I haven’t found a face wash this great in awhile. TATCHA - The Silk Peony Melting Eye Cream
Lightweight, fast-absorbing Korean face oil
I’ve been using the AMOREPACIFIC - Botanical Radiance Oil for awhile now. It’s a lightweight oil to wrap up my skincare routine at night. Using it on days like today where I’ve been exposed to the strong Texas sun all day is crucial not only because it balances my skin tone, but it also brightens and moisturizes my skin in and out. Although it’s lightweight and fast-absorbing, the texture makes it a good massaging oil for the face and neck. I was worried it had alcohol as one of the ingredients but thankfully, I haven’t had any irritations as I usually do and the other ingredients such as green tea water, green tea seed oil and castor oil are assuring because my skin loves all of these! The scent is a light botanical scent in my opinion and does not leave oiliness at all. — It definitely is more of a high-end Korean skincare brand, so the price point may not be for everyone ($105). I wish it was more wallet-friendly so everyone can try it out! Although it’s suitable for all skin types, I find it especially helpful for my skin when used at night more than day, and definitely day during the winter.

DRUNK ELEPHANT-A-Passioni Retinol Cream
I tried these serums so you don't have to! My fav and meh are...🤔
I've tried several different serums and wanted to find the most suitable one. Hope that my review can help you guys! KORRES - Wild Rose Spotless Serum with 15% Vitamin Super C It's a biphasic serum so you need to shake it well before applying. It feels a little greasy when it first touches the skin, but it's very soon absorbed. It contains 10% wild rose facial oil, 15% high concentration stable vitamin C and other safe ingredients, so it's suitable for even sensitive skin. DARPHIN - Intral Redness Relief Soothing Serum It has a stunning pink and watery texture which feels comfortable on the skin and has a light, pleasant scent. This serum contains chamomile extract which is anti-inflammatory and calming, making it suitable for sensitive skin, redness-prone skin, and for those with ongoing skin allergies, but I think that it's not very durable. HERBIVORE - Phoenix Rosehip Anti-Aging Face Oil for Dry Skin I just bought it today after a beauty blogger recommended it for reducing acne and acne marks, so I'll update again after I start using it. SUNDAY RILEY - Luna Sleeping Night Oil SUNDAY RILEY - Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment I bought this combo when it was the talk of the town for a while. 2 to 3 drops of the night oil is enough every time. Figure 2: It has a runny consistency and an oily texture, but it's easily absorbed on the skin. I only use the lactic acid treatment on my T-zone. Figure 3: It has a lotion texture with fabulous ingredients. However, it irritates a little when applied without the sleeping night oil, so people with sensitive skin should test it out before deciding to use it. I basically use both products together and they work well as an SOS combo for skin in need of treatment from staying up late a lot, but it does nothing much when it's used on normal skin. In particular, the Luna sleeping night oil contains retinols which makes the skin sensitive to UV, so it's not suitable for those like me who always use their phone after their skincare routine. I won't repurchase this product. TOPIX - Replenix Pure Hydration Hyaluronic Acid Serum I always use this serum in the morning. However, the blue gel texture is difficult to suck up using the dropper. Single-effect serums are quite unnecessary for me and I might repurchase it only when I'm in a dry environment. What's your fav face serum? Could you recommend it to me? TIA😜
SUNDAY RILEY-Good Genes All in One Lactic Acid Treatment
This week it’s Sunday Riley’s A+ High Dose Retinoid Serum This is actually the only retinoid/retinol product that I use regularly. And it’s been extremely effective. 👍🏾 My main use for this product is the treatment of ingrown hairs on my chin and neck since retinoids help with clearing away dead skin cells. I had a persistent ingrown that simply would not budge and this worked where other products failed. 💯 This serum is lightweight and absorbs easily. I’ve experience no irritation but I do keep the amount I apply to a minimum. I cannot recommend this product enough if you suffer from similar issues. It’s been a lifesaver! 🙌🏾

Here’s some Empties
🍇 So I’ve been hoarding my empties for awhile now (and there’s going to have to be a second empties post because there are many more) and they’re starting to take over my bathroom so let’s talk about them so I can throw them away. 🍇 Missha The First Treatment Essence Intensive Moist: First of all I take issue that the words “intensive moist” are printed on the bottle. Aside from that this was a nice lightweight, hydrating essence with the key ingredient being purple barley ferment (90% to be exact). As much as I love the idea of fermented ingredients, my skin doesn’t really respond to them. So I probably would not repurchase, but if ferment works for you this is a lovely essence. 🍇 Krave Beauty The Beet Shield: I love Krave Beauty’s products and this sunscreen is no exception. This is a lightweight, milky SPF 50 PA++++ sunscreen containing several skin protecting antioxidants. Wears beautifully under makeup. Would definitely purchase again. 🍇 Kate Somerville Retinol Vita C Power Serum: A potent retinol serum with vitamin C. While this is about a 1% retinol, I did not notice any irritation (although my skin is basically bulletproof at this point). The addition of vitamin C left my skin looking incredibly bright, firm, and plump. Would 1000% buy again. 🍇 Farmacy Beauty Very Cherry Bright Vitamin C Serum. I LOVE this vitamin C. It’s lightweight, hydrating, plumping, and brightening. Would and have purchased again. 🍇 Sunday Riley Juno Oil. My favorite oil. This stuff makes my skin look so glowy and healthy. I’ve been through about four bottles now. An absolute holy grail product. Would and have purchased again.
