Let me talk today about a product that did NOT work for me. FARMACY - Honey Grail Ultra-Hydrating Face Oil
————- What is it: (from the brand) A fast-absorbing, antioxidant-rich face oil for ultimate hydration and glow! This luxuriously lightweight, multitasking miracle worker revitalizes skin and helps smooth fine lines and wrinkles. ————— I received this when I won a contest the brand hosted. I had never worked with an oil before and was very hesitant to do so. I didn’t know anything about the ingredients nor what could cause irritation for me. I was just starting my skincare journey. The first ingredient is Cocoglycerides which are a mixture of mono, di and triglycerides derived from COCONUT OIL. This gives the moisturizing benefits of coconut oil, and similarly, this emollient ingredient helps give your skin a soft, smooth appearance. Listed second is Caprylic triglyceride, an ingredient used in soaps and cosmetics. It's usually made from combining COCONUT OIL with glycerin. And listed fourth is COCONUT OIL! So needless to say, HIGH LEVELS OF COCONUT OIL! Wow! And I quickly found out it caused me to break out. In all fairness I gave this several tries just to be certain. Even a full year later. But every single time I tried it, I broke out. What is the benefit to using coconut oil? It can help reduce inflammation, keeps skin moisturized & hydrated, helps protect against bacteria & here’s a twist, it possess antimicrobial properties that can help treat acne 🤷‍♀️ But, coconut oil is also highly comedogenic, which means it can clog pores. Consequently, it may actually make acne worse for some people. It is NOT recommended for those with oily skin. FARMACY - Honey Grail Ultra-Hydrating Face Oil
is a very thick, rich oil. I tried using a drop or two mixed in with my foundation and it blended beautifully but not worth the breakouts. It has a soft honey scent. Not bothersome and it did go away quite quickly. It comes in a dropper bottle. Farmacy Beauty claims that Honey Grail is non-comedogenic that it has been thoroughly tested by an independent research lab and confirmed to be non-comedogenic so it won’t clog pores. I’m not sure how this can be true being they use coconut oil and so many people have claims saying they have had breakouts or irritation due to this product. It also contains LIMONENE & LIMONENE which are added scents and I am working hard to eliminate products with added fragrance and dyes. I’d HIGHLY recommend that if you’re interested in trying this one out you get yourself a sample first. It’s $48 for 1 oz I use what I have for my hair. It works great to add some shine. I’ve also added a few drops into my body moisturizer just to try out. I keep it to my legs as my upper body can still break out from the oil. Much ❤️ @cherie family 🍒 #CherieCreator

🌍Eco friendly skincare packaging = the future
Glass packaging in skincare really is the wave when it comes to sustainability! Glass jars reduce the quantity of plastic waste created by the beauty industry, and I’m for it. I love repurposing glass jars to store other items like jewelry, homemade creams and candle wax! Something Youth to the People does that I find amazing is they sell a large bottle that you can refill smaller bottles with. My mini is now a travel must for me, and instead of purchasing again and again I just refill it! 🍀🌴☘️ I also think it’s an amazing cleanser so it’s a win-win. DO’S AND DON’T OF FALL SKINCARE
If you’re a skincare junkie, you may already be swapping out some skincare products as fall and winter approach. Since colder weather tends to be harsher and more drying on skin, it makes sense to use different products in different seasons. For reference, my skin is oily and acne-prone, and I use tretinoin every night which can be very drying. In the fall and winter my skin tends to get dry patches. Here are a few tips: DO: Consider using a thicker moisturizer. In the summer months, a lot of us with oilier skin can get by just fine using a lotion or gel moisturizer. However, a lot of us will need a thicker cream in the winter, especially at night. Look for ingredients like ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and shea butter. I really like the PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer : it’s a pretty simple, no-frills cream that hydrated my skin deeply. I’ve also been using the FARMACY - Better Daze Ahead CBD Moisturizer sometimes at night, and it’s *very* thick and moisturizing. I took a star off for the price because $68 is just too steep in my opinion. DON’T: forget SPF! You need sunscreen in the fall and winter just as much as you do in the summer, especially if you use products like acids or retinol. I use the PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ every day; it’s my holy grail sunscreen (scroll back on my feed to see a more detailed review). I also use the PAULA'S CHOICE - Resist Smoothing Primer Serum SPF30 under my makeup most days, and I love how smooth it makes my makeup, PLUS it has SPF. I typically wear the Dr. Jart+ - Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30 as my base because I’m working from home and don’t want to bother with foundation, and i’ll use the Supergoop! - Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40 on weekends when I don’t want as much coverage but still want to look glowy. DO: Consider adding an extra hydrating step, like a hydrating toner or oil. I just got this Herbal Dynamics Beauty - CollagenR8 Restorative COQ10 Facial Tonerbecause the ingredients are *very* similar to the Indie Lee COQ-10 toner, and so far I really like it! It’s definitely very moisturizing and soothing, and it smells amazing. I’ll usually use a few drops of the BIOSSANCE - 100% Sugarcane Squalane in the morning before my moisturizer because it gives me an extra layer of hydration, and I’ll use an oil like FARMACY - Honey Grail Ultra-Hydrating Face Oil or HERBIVORE - Orchid Facial Oil at night before my night cream. Steps like these have really helped my skin in the past during the colder months. #CheriePartner

Exfoliation Series
Exfoliation Series
Im posting an exfoliation series on my Instagram for those who’d like some more in depth product reviews ❤️ There are so many a few different ways to exfoliate and a plethora of products to help you do that. From scrubs to serums to toners to masks, it can become hard to choose which way of exfoliation is right for you. Too many products runs the risk of over-exfoliating and disrupting your moisture barrier, but finding the right routine can bring you smooth, glow skin 🤩 How many exfoliation products do you have and how often are you exfoliating 🔍 The answer can vary between people, but finding the right formula for you may take some time ✨ Will be diving into this topic in more detail in the coming posts .

Have you ever heard of Tansy Oil?
Have you ever heard of Tansy Oil?
Skin Type- Currently turning Combo as the weather gets warmer Concerns- Hormonal Breakouts, Uneven Texture One of my favorite skincare ingredients is blue tansy oil. I find not a lot of skincare products use this and when my skin is TRULY on the verge of freaking the f out - whether it's hormonal or redness, my Herbivore Lapis is ALWAYS handy and takes control. I will use this as the last step in my skincare routine. I find that oils tend to work better after you moisturize and apply over. I've used this for over two years now. I'm not sure what YouTube influencer mentioned it, but it has definitely become a staple enough for me to purchase a full size. I do not use this every day, however Lapis usually makes her way to me every time I get my friendly female friend. I will make sure to use this and I truly find that it helps with any redness or breakouts I have going on. Lapis is high in Azulene, which is where this oil gets is blue color from naturally. Azulene helps to soothe dry irritated skin, reduce the appearance of redness and balance oily skin, so yes if you have oily skin, this OIL is actually good to use!

Honey grail
Honey grail
This is described as a lightweight oil that is deeply moisturizing and smooths fine lines and wrinkles. It includes ingredients such as buckwheat honey, sea buckthorn oil, and a blend of five flower oils. It also contains fractionated coconut oil, and Farmacy is careful to note that the oil has been tested by an independent lab and is noncomedogenic (meaning it won’t clog pores). I won this oil in a giveaway, and admittedly I was still very nervous to put it on my face because I’ve had issues with coconut oil causing acne before (those oils were not fractionated). I started by using a few drops of this on my hair, as Farmacy says can be done to tame flyaways. I’ve also used this on some spots of eczema on my arms, and it’s definitely helped moisturize them and keep the scaliness stress bay. Farmacy also says you can blend this with your foundation, but but since my foundation is already an oil, I haven’t tried that. I have since used this on my face a few times, and I’m happy to report that I haven’t experienced any breakouts! It’s very moisturizing. The texture is definitely a thick oil, much thicker than any I’ve ever used before, and it feels luxurious. It also smells like straight up honey, which is incredible. At the end of the day, I really like this product, but I’m not sure if I’ll purchase it once this one is empty. It’s definitely luxurious, and I like that it can be used on my hair, face, and body, but I tend to prefer squalane oils since my skin isn’t super dry. At $48 for 1oz, this is pricier than many oils, but it is unique. I would recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a soothing oil to target very dry skin.

This BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil has been a lifesaver for me lately. It’s mega hydrating and insanely lightweight, and I want to share some information about it! + About Biossance + So this company actually started out with scientists who created an accessible cure for malaria. They were inspired to move into skincare & create products made with science and sustainability in mind. All of their products include squalane; the human body makes squalene (note the spelling). Over time, our bodies make less squalene. Squalane locks in weightless moisture, calms and protects, improves elasticity, and balances oil production without clogging pores. + Squalane and Vitamin C Rose Oil + This face oil claims to visible brighten, firm, and even skin tone. It’s very luxurious, and is suited best for dry to normal skin types, but I’m normal to oily and it’s been great for me! The key ingredients are: tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (oil soluble vitamin c), squalane, and chips crystal oil (helps nurture). + My Thoughts + I’ve been using this for about 2.5 weeks, and I don’t think I want this out of my life! I use it in my AM routine (2-3 drops in my moisturizer) and as a last step (5-6 drops) at night. My skin tone is less red and more even, breakouts are calmed quickly and fade fast, and my skin is bouncy and also firm! It’s $72 for 1oz, which is SO expensive for me. I’m lucky this was a gift from the brand, but I will repurchase this when I empty it for sure. A little goes a long way, and it doesn’t make me greasy or oily, just glowy and hydrated!

Rosy Glow
Rosy Glow
Rose is generally in either water, oil, essence or cream and is known to provide hydration to the max, soothes the skin and is anti-inflammatory (hello pimples). I have been obsessed with rose and it’s delicate scent for as long as I can remember and adding it into my skincare is such a must! This beautiful oil doesn’t have a rose scent, but has all those beautiful properties with the bonus of vitamin c and squalane. Vitamin c is a powerful antioxidant that lightens, tightens and brightens the skin. Squalane is a natural derivative of the body’s squalene that is produced to hydrate and plump and soothe the skin. So it’s an added bonus oil to what your skin decreases producing over time. So this beautiful baby oil is the trifecta of skin goodness! She leaves me with an unmatched glow, the softest skin, and a lovely suppleness. I cannot get enough of her in my morning routine! BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil
