An absolute MUST for me!
Hyaluronic Acid is an absolute must have skincare ingredient for me. How about you? What is Hyaluronic Acid? Hyaluronic acid, also known as hyaluronan, is a clear, gooey substance that is naturally produced by your body. It is a sugar found naturally in our skin that holds water and helps keep it hydrated and plump. Just like collagen and elastin, the amount of naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid in our bodies decreases as we get older. BENEFITS-

What has been your most recent influenced product(s)? I’d say mine is most definitely Medik8 from none other than @boydoesbeauty After his video chat with Dan from Medik8 I had to give his “must haves" a try! I’ve been working with Medik8 - Crystal Retinal since February and can’t stop raving about it. I started at level 1 but quickly jumped to 6 as I felt I wasn’t getting results I wanted with my mature skin. I will now be transitioning into level 10 as soon as I finish up what left in my level 6 container. These babies last a long while! Well worth the money! I’ve been using The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 for a long time now but I’m not sure I can ever go back. I used the example of driving a Ferrari and going back to your basic Nissan (yes, that’s what I drive) when comparing these two formulas. Medik8 - HYDR8 B5 Liquid Rehydration Serum is like pure silk! I can feel everywhere it touches my skin. I feel my other skincare products work better since I started using this. My skin feels instantly hydrated and much softer. Silky smooth! The Medik8 - Eye-lift Peptides is amazing! I have seen dramatic results in the firming of my eyes as well as a lift in my upper eyelids. As we age the skin on the upper eyelid can tend to sag. This beauty does it all; fills in fine-lines, reduces dark circles and puffiness, and gives that lift we all need. 😉 I’ve just placed a reorder of their Medik8 - Full Lash & Brow Advanced Lash & Brow Serum serum. The results I’ve seen with this are what my dreams are made of. I have very sparse brows and just into 2 weeks, I had seen a difference. I actually had to trim the hairs for the first time in forever! I can’t wait to see the results after 2 months! I haven’t noticed a change in my lashes but I am going to take some before pictures cause I think that will help document any changes. And finally, Medik8 - Clarity Peptides This contains three potent actives: 10% niacinamide which calms and soothes redness, blotchy skin and blemishes, Crystalide peptide which adds light reflection for a translucent skin effect, and zinc PCA that minimises sebum production and balances skin bacteria to tackle blemishes. Achieve visibly perfected, luminous skin when you need it most (via website). I have yet to see any noticeable changes with the Peptides but I also know it can take 2-3 months for this to happen. This probably won’t be a repurchase for me as I feel I can get the same benefits from The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I’d have to do more research to be certain, though. Much ❤️ my @cheriefamily 🍒 #CherieCreator
Take a peek inside my Skin Cabinets
Since my husband decided to use the guest bath I have claimed both cabinets....and all my products still don’t fit in them!! I’ll share my bathroom sink area in another post, along with my mini fridge and backup shelf. My fingers are tired from tagging all the products right now 🙈 Let me know if there are any you’re curious about. I believe most products you can find already reviewed on my page. But if there is one not posted about, let me know and I’d be happy to share my thoughts with you. Some of my must haves are: Farmacy Beauty- Honeymoon Glow, Better Daze Ahead & Cheer Up Indie Lee - CO-Q10 Toner and & Brightening Wash Medik8- Crystal Retinal & HYDR8 + B5 Caudalie - Radiance Serum Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Youth to The People - Superberry Mask, Energy Facial The Ordinary- Niacinamide & Hyaluronic & the Facial Peel Elemis - Suerfood Mask Many of these have been repurchases. If a product is sitting out on my counter or in my cabinets, I’m enjoying using them. I have baskets of products that didn’t work so well for me but I keep them for friends to try or to create fun texture art. It’s taken me at least an entire year to gain the collection I have. I had subscribed to many subscription boxes so a good majority of products came to me that way. I haven’t received PR in a long time and the few items I did receive were from some small companies. I don’t mind receiving PR/gifts I just am very picky about what I will use so sometimes the offers don’t jive with them. Let’s see your skincare cabinet ☺️ @createoncherie @CheriePick
INGREDIENT HIGHLIGHT: HYALURONIC ACID
What is it? Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the skin. It binds water to collagen, trapping it in the skin, thereby keeping skin plump, healthy and hydrated. Why is it important? There are several factors that can make skin dehydrated. HA acts as a humectant to attract water to the skin thus increasing hydration. HA is great for all skin types as it retains moisture, improves appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, replenishes cell moisture, speeds wound healing. Medik8 - HYDR8 B5 Liquid Rehydration Serum This is my favourite hydrating serum. I also like their Hydra8 B5 Intense serum. It contains a blend of Hyaluronic acid and Vitamin B5. It improves skin texture, boosts moisture retention, and keep the skin healthy. It also helps rebalance moisture levels in oily skin. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-itching properties. It has a lightweight watery texture. It is vegan and cruelty-free, suitable for all skin types including the sensitive skin. It has a oil-free formulation. It has a glass packaging. I use 5-6 drops of it after cleansing my face, both in my morning and evening routine. It absorbs easily into the skin. It plumps up my skin along with deeply hydrating. This serum provides much needed moisture boost to my normal to dry skin. The price is $49 for 30 ml . I recommend this to everyone especially who has dehydrated skin. This serum will provide deep hydration along with other skin benefits. #CherieCreator

The Key 🔑 to Great Hydration
Today I want to talk about one of my favorite products from The Ordinary and a forever repurchase The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 This serum is not only very budget friendly but effective. This product has the ability to add an extra boost to your daily moisturizer. I wanna talk a little bit about the main active ingredient Hyaluronic Acid. 💪 Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant which means that it attracts water molecules and in this case it attracts those molecules to your skin. 💧 Hyaluronic Acid has the ability to hold 1,000x it’s weight in water making it deeply hydrating 🌸It is gentle enough to use on all skin types, even people with skin conditions like rosacea and eczema. It also won’t make oily skin oilier! I know this from experience. ⭐️ It helps soothe and soft skin. And can reduce the appearance for fine lines a wrinkles overtime. And helps reinforce the skins natural barrier. With this particular serum I mix a small pea size amount in with my moisturizer. This serum has mixed well with all of my other products and I haven’t experienced any pilling. This is such an easy and affordable step to add into your skin care routine that I will always repurchase. One thing to note about Hyaluronic acid is being that it is a humectant, it only helps attract hydration to the skin by taking it from the environment. So if you live in a very dry climate this product may not work as well for you. Let me know what you guys think! 😊

THE ORDINARY VS INKEY LIST: Retinol Two Ways
What is Retinol? Retinol, a derivative and milder form of prescription tretinoin, has been a holy grail ingredient in my quest to achieving smoother, tighter and firmer skin. A fat-soluble vitamin, retinol (Vit A), has some of the strongest research backing its claims of wrinkle reduction, cell turnover and other anti-aging properties. Common Usage Concerns ✨ Can be used AM and PM- there is no research that shows its harm upon sun exposure although it may increase photosensitivity and irritation to some. ✨ Can be used with other actives like niacinamide and vitamin C. Whether it causes skin irritation depends person by person. ✨ Should be phased out PRIOR to getting pregnant. Teratogenic. The Ordinary - Retinol 1% in Squalane 6.70 for 30ml Most retinols from The Ordinary and other skincare lines deliver Retinol in a oily “anhydrous” (water-free) suspension. Percentage depends on your skin tolerance but if you don’t have sensitive skin, you can go straight for the higher % rather than ease into the product. Just use fewer drops! I like that this is formulated with squalene (oil that acts like sebum), which kills two birds with one stone as the oil also acts as an ideal hydrating anti-oxidant for dry/combo skin types. This is a marginally cheaper and longer lasting product than the Inkey List’s retinol serum as 2-3 drops go a long way! It brings that glowy shine to the face, softens blackhead areas, and has completely halted more fine lines from growing on my face. THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum 9.99 for 30ml More like a moisturizer method of delivery, this retinol is thicker in a oily lotion suspensión. It dispenses yellow and kind of smells like fish oil! The ingredients are impressive- has humectants, retinol and HPR (another derivative form of Vit A), Vit E and Squalene. So this has more goodies than TO’s oil suspension! On application, this dries way more matte than the Retinol 1%. It layers just fine with other serums. I am really appreciating how it blends effortlessly into my existing routine. The packaging is also way more leak-proof than the dropper application so it’s great for travel. For the extra couple bucks, I’d give this a shot if you’re looking for retinol and light moisturizer in one tube! Cheers 🥂

Retinoids just don’t mix well with others!
Vitamin C & Retinol: this is the biggest no no! Retinol doesn’t mix well with a lot of ingredients and it should stay far away from Vitamin C serums. Vitamin C helps to boost collagen, help the premature signs of aging, and keeps the skin bright and helps even the texture. Retinoids help with reducing fine lines and wrinkles by increasing the production of collagen. Using them together could create irritation, peeling and redness. Combining them increases the skin’s sensitivity to the sun, which means there is a higher risk for burning and UV damage. Note- as pictured since I don’t own a retinol. I believe this serum from Herbivore may mix with other serums better.
Retinol & Hyaluronic Acid – Can You Use Them Together?
If you have read my previous reviews, you should know that I am a big fan of retinol products, espeically my CLINIQUE - Fresh Pressed Clinical Daily + Overnight Boosters with Pure Vitamins C 10% + A (Retinol). The product works well to soothe my combination skin, and to boost the amount of collagen and plumps out skin, cutting down fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps to improve the skin tone and uneven patches. While there are seemingly endless praises of retinol, there is also another side effect that it could be drying for the skin. Retinol is known to cause irritation to the skin, especially when a proper moisturizing regimen is not put in place. As the skin on my cheeks and neck can be dry, I need to ensure that I use a strong moisturizing agent such as hyaluronic acid to complement retinol, and my choice of weapon is LANCÔME - Full Size Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate Serum Duo. Retinol is an incredible tool to speed up cellular turnover smooth skin and hyaluronic acid helps draw water into the skin providing a plump, glowing complexion. I use the two products as part of my evening skincare routine to ensure that my skin gets both healing and hydration while I sleep. To use, I cleanse and tone my face before adding a drop of retinol on my face. I continue with a generous drop of serum before finishing with a rich face cream. The serum is a beauty favorite formulated with a blend of bifidus prebiotic, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and ceramides, and its lightweight texture makes it easy to layer with another moisturizer. I also like to keep a bottle in the fridge for instant soothing relief after being a day outdoors. A drop of the serum in my foundation also helps to create dewy skin. To use, I cleanse and tone my face before using a drop of retinol on my face. I continue with a generous drop of serum before finishing with a rich face cream.

$ vs Formula vs Feel? This L-Ascorbic Acid is 👑
Vitamin C is my OG beloved skincare ingredient and my goal this summer was to (a) transition from using vitamin C derivative to L-Ascorbic acid (the true form), to (b) find a formulation that worked best in my current routine (water-based) and (c) didn’t break the bank. 💴 Y’all, I’ll say no more. I think I’ve found the one. What’s so great about Purito’s formulation? PURITO - Pure Vitamin C Serum is a water-based 5% L-Ascorbic acid serum formulated with some of my favorite ingredients- niacinamide, adenosine, hylauronic acid and red ginseng extract. Other goodies include pineapple and turmeric extract. A lot of other pure Vit C serums are on the thinner oilier side (for stability) and these more potent forms (like 15-20%) can feel extremely drying. Although Purito’s is not as high in concentration nor stabilized with ferulic acid and Vit E, the water-based formula works as a effortless substitute to the Vit C derivative I’ve already been using- only even more effective! The packaging is completely unexposed to air until you break the seal after receipt, which hopefully buys us a few months of shelf stability! The fresh serum dispenses clear (love that it’s a pump bottle to minimize oxidation) and I can already see little droplets on the outside rim that have oxidized (turned orange) so I know what is and is not fresh. Sometimes, it’s all about the feel. It’s impossible to try all the L-Ascorbic acid formulations out there but as I mentioned before, many true Vit Cs from my experience have cancelled out the hydrating efforts of my other serums. Purito’s does not. In fact, minus the mild stinging from the Vitamin C initially, this product is my vehicle for sneaking HA into my routine as HA (in sodium hylauronate form) is the first ingredient! It’s an easy step between my toner and second serum or sunscreen. If you’ve been using sodium or magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (Vit C derivative) and looking to upgrade, you will have no problem swapping this product in. Can we talk about the price please? This serum goes for ~$15 for 60 mL (2 Fl Oz)!! Where are you gonna find a deal like that? This is essentially the same price as my previous Vit C derivative (SAP) and 4-5x cheaper than many of the L-Ascorbic acid serums out there on the Sephora- ahem Drunk Elephant- shelves! If you are hesitant, at least it won’t hurt your pocket too much to give it a try! Enjoy and cheers to summer skin ☀️
