Trending Skincare Super Ingredients

I’ll start out by telling you a bit about my skin; it’s sensitive and normal-dry depending on the season. I also have rosacea on my cheeks. I am always looking for skincare that hydrates, soothes, and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I am 31 years old and have just recently started adding some anti-aging products into my routine, though I can thankfully say I don’t have many signs of aging yet🤞🏻 Today I’m going to tell you about some skincare “super ingredients” that you might have been hearing about because they have become very popular in the skincare world. Ashwaganda - ashwaganda is an ancient medicinal herb that is classified as an adaptogen, which means it can help your body manage stress. In skincare, and this YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi
in particular, it is said to help reduce visible signs of fatigue. This moisturizer is targeted for people with dry, sensitive, and reactive skin.
the texture of this is lovely, it’s not too heavy but feels incredibly hydrating on the skin.
it has very little to no smell, which I really appreciate
it definitely helps me with redness and dryness
I would for sure repurchase this
Niacinamide - niacinimide is an essential nutrient that can help build proteins in the skin and lock in moisture to prevent environmental damage. The CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Radiance Serum The Brightening Solution
and CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Brightening Moisturizer with Niacinamide
both contain niacinimide and claim to even the skin tone and give the skin a glowing appearance.
the texture of both of these products is lightweight; the serum is a milky consistency and the moisturizer is a gel-cream.
I wish that the moisturizer was a little more hydrating; I can’t really use it once the weather gets cold because it’s just not hydrating enough for me
both of these products are quite strongly scented, some may find it overpowering
I feel like they both make a difference in the overall appearance of my skin. They definitely help to brighten and even out my skin.
I’m unsure if I would repurchase the moisturizer, but would repurchase the serum
Retinol - retinol supports natural collagen production in the skin, nurtures the skin, and diminishes the look of fine lines and wrinkles. This FIRST AID BEAUTY - FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serum
is said to be for beginner retinol users and for those with sensitive skin. There are different strengths of retinol and it is advised that you work your way up to a higher concentration as your skin adjusts. Retinol has a bit of a bad reputation in some ways because it is a very aggressive ingredient but when used properly, it can be extremely beneficial and effective.
the texture isn’t overly thick and it sinks into the skin quickly
too new to my routine to say if I’d repurchase yet

Transitioning Into My Winter Skin Care! ❄
So technically, I never even transitioned into my "Fall skincare" this year. Where I live, the fall months don't usually get that cold. For the most part, i've been using the same products I was using in the Summer. And that was a mistake! For the past few weeks it's been really dry outside, and eventually resulted in a disruption of my moisture barrier. My cheeks, and especially the area around my eyes felt super tight, and even got cracked and flakey. Lets Talk Cleansers! I LOVE the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser . It will always be a holy grail for me, 365 days a year. This restores and hydrates my skin, and my go-to morning cleanse. I believe in cleansing twice a day, but the morning cleanse should be with a simple, gentle cleanser. Cleansing can be really harsh for the skin, and using a foaming or treatment cleanser twice a day can stir up trouble! Another good one is the PAULA'S CHOICE - Defense Hydrating Gel-to-Cream Cleanser . This one works better as a second cleanse, to help remove makeup. It foams up, and claims to remove makeup. In my opinion, it doesn't work that well without an oil cleanse or micellar water beforehand. This cleanser isn't AS hydrating but still really good and makes my skin soft. Unlike CeraVe, this one this one has a triple-superfood complex, and antioxidants! Lately, I've been oil cleansing, then going in with the Paulas Choice cleanser, & then the CeraVe one, as my night time routine. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize! Even if you have oily skin, moisturize! My go-to moisturizers are the CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion as well as the VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream . Both of these products I LOVE. They are perfect for acne-prone skin, & at a decent price point. But now... I'm going to start incorporating a more hydrating, heavier moisturizer, like the CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream . I'm very picky about heavy moisturizers because my pores are easily clogged. CeraVe is always a reliable brand I can count on to have simple, non-irritating products that get the job done. (And DOESNT clog pores.) Another good one is the PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega + Complex Serum . This one is technically a serum but works like a moistuizer. It's very light but super hydrating & moisturizing! It has robust levels of Omega 3, 6 and 9 for calm, stronger & healthier skin. It also has ceramides, Hyaluronic Acid & Shea Butter. Surprisingly, the Shea butter in this does not clog my pores. Hyaluronic Acid! I don't own a sole Hyaluronic Acid serum, but I use the The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA . This is really good at hydrating and plumping my skin. And it calms & depuffs any inflammation I may have. I like that it's paired with Alpha Arbutin so this serum also fades dark spots & brightens my skin. Plus, these two ingredients can be paried with almost any other active, so it's easy to include this serum in a any routine.
Popular Moisturizers for Dry Sensitive Skin
I have tried these all and here is my take. I have combo skin that gets dry in the winter and oily in the summer. So now that it’s winter I have tried some new products and gone back to some old tried and true favorites. Here is my opinion and I hope you find it useful! FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream If you have eczema, dry skin, and or sensitive skin, this is a great option! When I was battling with eczema on my face this was a lifesaver! It’s not just for your face and makes a great hand cream. It works as a great barrier during the cold winter months. The only reason it doesn’t have five stars for me is that even though it soothes dry skin and eczema, it isn’t actually moisturizing enough for me in the winter. It doesn’t penetrate deep enough. It sits on top of my skin and helps it not loose moisture but doesn’t provide enough additional moisture for me. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi Great moisturizer and my go to for the winter. It is so moisturizing and a little goes a long way. No fragrance makes this a good choice for sensitive skin. Squalane is a great ingredient for hydration and you are seeing it in more and more products. Ashwagandha helps with visible signs of fatigue and Fermented Reishi helps detoxify, hydrate, and fight premature signs of aging. It has some solid ingredients. It does have caramel color which provides 0% benefit to the product but nothing can be perfect right? I noticed more plump skin with no irritation which is why this is one of the two moisturizers I use daily. TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream Before I got this I had been using the Silk Peony Eye Cream from Tatcha and it’s one of the few eye creams that doesn’t irritate my skin. So I was very excited to see what else Tatcha had to offer. The packaging is BEAUTIFUL but very unnecessary. It contains Japanese Purple Rice that boasts many benefits such as helping the skin recover from stress, pollution, and UV damage for healthier looking skin. For me it fell short. The added fragrance was of no benefit to my skin and something in the ingredient list clogged my pores sadly. I had to exchange it and it made me so sad it didn’t work for me. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream Deluxe Sample I got this first as a sample and I actually really like it! Ok...I love it! Drunk Elephant has some mixed reviews in the beauty world and comes at a hefty price tag but when my sensitive skin finds something that works for it I will spend the money for happy skin. The blend of African oils and the plant derived ceramides really help to give moisture and lock it in. Great for dry winter weather! I have two samples to use up then I am buying a full size! I hope you enjoyed my reviews! Xoxo

Any thoughts on these? Received as a gift.. Beautiful bottle and milky water texture. Feels nice on first impression. They all have fragrance, but it’s a very subtle, fresh and pleasant scent. I’m excited to try.
My Favourite Serums✨
My skin is sensitive, redness-prone, normal-dry depending on the season, and I have some rosacea on my cheeks. These 4 serums have made a big difference in the texture and overall appearance + health of my skin. I’m going to tell you a little bit about each of them below! • SKINCEUTICALS - Serum 10 Aox+ - I’m sure you’ve heard of the cult favourite Skinceuticals vitamin c serum and this version is just as effective, but for sensitive skin. It has a water-like consistency and sinks into the skin right away. I have definitely found that this has helped to brighten and even my skin tone. I really love this vitamin c and would definitely recommend it (even though it’s pricey). • Corpa Flora - Antidote 03 - Redness Relief - this serum has more of an oil-like consistency and a light floral scent to it that I just love. I have found that when I am consistent with this serum it definitely decreases the redness I have in my cheeks due to rosacea. I typically mix a pump of this with a pump of their Corpa Flora - Antidote HB5 Hydration and it’s the perfect hydrating + soothing cocktail! For anyone with sensitive, redness-prone skin like me, this duo is a must have to combat that! • Allies of Skin - Mandelic Pigmentation Corrector Night Serum - I didn’t know what to expect from this serum but it has blown me away. I often have texture on my cheeks and also get hormonal breakouts and this serum does an amazing job at fighting both of them. I always notice a difference in my skin the next morning when I use this at night! My favourite way to use it is to mix a pump of this with a pump of the Allies of Skin - Triple Hyaluronic Antioxidant Hydration Serum (if you can’t tell, I love mixing serums to create the perfect skincare concoction). Both of these products are pricey, if you’re going to splurge on one, make it the Mandelic! • CAUDALIE - Vinoperfect Radiance Serum The Brightening Solution - this one is a favourite in the skincare world and for good reason. The overall brightening and tone-correcting effect this serum has is amazing. I love the clean scent it has and the milky, smooth texture. It sinks into the skin quickly and isn’t sticky or tacky. I wouldn’t say this is a must-have compared to the others listed here, but if you’re a product junkie like me it’s definitely worth having in your collection. #CheriePartner

Myth: Only dry skin can be dehydrated. Wrong! Normal and oily skin can be dehydrated as well. Dehydrated skin is skin that lacks water content, while dryness refers to skin that lacks oil . In fact, oily skin tends to overproduce oil to compensate for the lack of water. This can lead to breakouts and enlarged pores. Other signs of dehydration include tightness, fine lines, dullness, and increased sensitivity. 💛Let’s Talk Hyaluronic Acid🧡💙 Hyalruonic Acid is one of the best answers for dehydrated skin. It’s a humectant, an ingredient that binds to moisture. It has the ability to hold 1,000 times its weight in water! This results in hydrated, soft, plump skin! HADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion contains FIVE types of hyaluronic acid as well as sacaran algae known for its moisturizing properties. Hello hydration! 💦 💛Review🧡💙 (Swipe to see texture pic) This product is a serum with a thick milky consistency. It’s formulated WITHOUT fragrance, dye, or mineral oil.Since this product is a humectant, it’s best to use this product when the skin is wet. I currently use this at night. After I cleanse my skin, I immediately put this on and tap it into my skin. After it fully absorbs, I follow up with my moisturizer. This J-product product beats all of the overpriced HA serums in Sephora! Not only does it keep my skin hydrated, soft and plump for hours, but within 10-15 minutes of usage, the appearance of my enlarged pores are gone! This will also be a lifesaver when my skin becomes dry and sensitive during winter. This is a new constant in my routine. I got mine in an Asian beauty store but you can find the product on Amazon and YesStyle! It’s only 15 dollars!! Can’t wait to try more products from this brand! Happy Hydration! 💦

So you over exfoliated your skin.. what’s next?
So you over exfoliated your skin.. what’s next?
So you over exfoliated your skin... it’s okay. It happens. I’ve been super guilty in the past of loading everything on my face or thinking “the more I use something the more effective it will be”. When over exfoliation happens your skin starts to go into distress. Your moisture barrier is compromised. Your skin might start to feel irritated, itchy, and inflamed. When this happens at any time I like to reset my routine with gentler products. This guide is meant for sensitized skin but the products are also perfect for those with sensitive or dry skin. 1.) Stop using exfoliating/stripping products I know you want to keep using your routine to see results but now is the time to take a break. Stop exfoliation, retinol, acne treatments, and foaming cleansers. These products are going to be too intense for sensitized skin right now. 2.) Opt for mild and emollient products This is when I switch my routine to products that are more geared towards sensitive skin. Two power house ingredients I look for are colloidal oatmeal and cannabis sativa seed oil. My favorite being colloidal oatmeal which helps to soften and soothe the skin. My favorite product I’ve been using to soothe my mask irritation has been the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask as it nourishes and protects. Cannabis sativa oil on the other hand helps repair the skin’s moisture barrier while helping to reduce inflammation. As always you want to seal everything in with a moisturizer. For sensitive or sensitized skin I always say go for a fragrance free/dye free lightweight cream. My favorite lately has been the dr. brandt - Cool Biotic Prebiotic Redness Relief Cream as it contains colloidal oatmeal, cannabis sativa seed oil, and ceramides (ceramides are amazing for locking moisture into the skin to help prevent dryness and irritation). 3.) Add hydrating, antioxidant, or inflammation reducing treatments The only “treatments” I will add to my routine when my skin feels sensitized are either hydrating, have antioxidant properties, or reduce inflammation. I am currently using is the GOOD MOLECULES - Hyaluronic Acid Serum as this will help draw and keep water in the skin. I also swear by the GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Brightening Toner which showcases niacinamide with its anti-inflammatory properties. This toner is very gentle on the skin and sinks right in which is why I use it at the beginning of my routine. With the skin being wet from the toner is “prepped” for all the other ingredients to penetrate deeper and work more effectively. 4.) Wear sunscreen/avoid the sun I know this is usually everyone’s least favorite part of their routine but it’s the most important. With fresh cells at the forefront they need to be protected from UV damage. They are more susceptible to damage being “newer” than older cells. If you don’t protect these everything else is counterproductive.

Despite the controversy behind
Despite the controversy behind the brand’s initial launch, I absolutely love this brand. Not only is it affordable, but it is effective. Once again it’s shown me that good skincare doesn’t have to break the bank to be effective. Skin type: combination NATURIUM - Vitamin C Complex Serum Let’s start off with this one. Now, next to my Paulas choice vitamin C serum, this is one of my favorite vitamin c serums. It is a 22% vitamin c serum, which is one of the highest I’ve seen in a product. It does not have fragrance in it nor is it tacky like a few other vitamin c serums that I’ve tried. I’ve tried so many different vitamin c serums from drunk elephant, to ole henriksen, to Peter Thomas Roth, to Sunday Riley, to finally paulas choice and by far the most effective ones me have been Naturium and Paulas choice vitamin c serums. They are both good on sensitive skin too which is an added bonus. NATURIUM - Retinol Complex Cream I wanted to explore the world of retinol because I was noticing laugh lines and under eye bags. Then when I did some additional research, I noticed that retinol is all around good for everything and to think I was nervous about incorporating into in my skincare. At first I looked at it like this scary thing that I shouldn’t use unless I was like 35+. Yes, I was stupid, but now I’ve seen the light. I use the cream at night by itself and it’s so moisturizing before bed. Plus I don’t wake up with super dry skin either. I know some people have started with retinol and maybe it was a little aggressive on their skin, but the way it’s formulated in this product is very gentle. Pro tip: I typically use a chemical exfoliant, and since I’ve been using a retinol, I’ve been exfoliating my skin a little bit less. Granted, it all depends on how my skin feels, so listen to your skin while you’re using skincare products. Your skin doesn’t lie!

I’ve tried 3 different serums for caudalie I actually enjoyed all of them but this was by far my favorite. I have dry and sensitive skin and I didn’t have any negative reactions to this one . It leaves me skin feeling so soft and gives me such a beautiful glow in the mornings . This retails for $79 but they currently have this kit that includes the full serum and essence and moisturizer in mini sizes so I picked this up instead . Must Have Skincare for Sensitive Skin
Must Have Skincare for Sensitive Skin
So I am declaring myself the queen of sensitive skin. I have had sensitive skin my whole life and I feel like it’s only gotten worse as I’ve gotten older because I also have rosacea and then there’s also the fact that...I’m getting older (😭😭😭). I have a lot of dryness and redness in my cheeks, around my nose, and some around my chin which is mostly related to hormones and all that fun stuff. I do also get hormonal breakouts and am just starting to get some minor fine lines. As I’ve learned more about skincare and tried many (so many) products over the years, these are some that have become staples for me! I try to be really careful with how often I add new products and make sure I fully read the ingredients to know if they’ll be good for my sensitive skin. • a good basic moisturizer (ideally containing ceramides) will go a long way; I mean basic in the sense that it doesn’t do a lot other than focus on hydrating + protecting your skin. I love the DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream • serums, serums, serums! They’re such a great way to add concentrated ingredients to your routine and boost all that goodness into your skin. I’ve been loving the Corpa Flora - Antidote HB5 Hydration and the 03 Redness Relief by the same brand - such a great duo for hydrating and soothing! • hyaluronic acid (like this one by Allies of Skin) is SO good for sensitive skin and adds a boost hydration back into your skin’s barrier Allies of Skin - Triple Hyaluronic Antioxidant Hydration Serum • vitamin c is literally amazing for everyone but if you have sensitive skin just be careful with the concentration + additives! This one is amaaazing SKINCEUTICALS - Serum 10 Aox+ and does such a great job of brightening + clearing my skin. • masks targeted to soothing, gently exfoliating, calming, etc. A couple of my favourites lately are the SKINCEUTICALS - PHYTO CORRECTIVE MASK Calming Face Mask For Blotchy Skin (tip - keep this one in the fridge, it feels SO GOOD) and the insta natural - Exfoliating Glycolic Mask - they’ve both made a big difference in my skin. • face mists are a must for me to keep my skin hydrated + refreshed! I find rose water mists are super soothing for my sensitive skin. What are your go-to products for sensitive skin?! #CheriePartner

Oily Skin Glow Up ✨
Oily Skin Glow Up ✨
I know usually when you have oily skin the last thing you want to do is have a glowy complexion. Usually it’s matte everything. Mayttifying Toner. Matte primer. Matte foundation. But there are the occasional times I like a little bit of glow to my skincare. I believe there is a line between oily and glowing and you can achieve it with the right products. I, personally, have oily acne prone skin. When I want a little bit more of a glow I go with this routine: 1.) Cleanse - GEORGETTE KLINGER - Vitamin C Cleansing Gel Gel cleansers are amazing for oily skin! You’re going to get the deep cleanse you need without stripping your skin. I like the fact this one has vitamin C included which is going to help give your skin a boost to brighten a dull complexion. 2.) Treat - Murad - Vitamin C Glycolic Brightening Serum As much as I like the cleanser including vitamin C you’re going to get the most benefits out of a leave on treatment. This treatment pairs vitamin C with glycolic acid to give you a brighter, healthier looking complexion. The glycolic acid (which is great for oily skin!) is a chemical exfoliator that buffs away the dull dead skin cells to enhance the delivery of the vitamin C. It also has a little bit of a shimmer to the product which gives you a beautiful lit from within glow. It absorbs easily and feels really lightweight so oily skin isn’t bogged down all day like it can with other “glowy” products. 3.) Moisturize - GLAMGLOW - Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow (travel size) Now if I really want to have a glow I pull this out. You can really replace this with any gel moisturizer you have but this one does have a bit of nude shimmer in it that will help contribute to your glow up! It’s a very light weight gel consistency and a little goes a long way. 4.) Sunscreen - KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 If you’re exfoliating or using vitamin C you HAVE to wear sunscreen. No ifs, ands, or buts. You have to. Those products, as beneficial as they are, make your skin a lot more photosensitive to the sun. 90% of aging comes from UVA/UVB rays so we need to help prevent this as much as possible. The Kinship sunscreen is a mineral sunscreen that is reef safe and designed for acne prone skin. This sunscreen has a little bit of a peach, glowy tint that rubs into the skin transparent but with a little bit of a glow. It highlights turmeric which soothes the skin (which you’ll need if you’re exfoliating) as well as strengthens and protects damaged skin. It also has kinbiome which will help strengthen your skin barrier. I received the Georgette Klinger as a gift the beginning of the month and I’ve been using it ever since. The Murad and Kinship I received in the 5th edition of the Trendmood box and they became immediate favorites. I’ve had a few Glamglow travel samples for quite a few years now.
