Do Ingredients Really Matter?
Do Ingredients Really Matter?
The short answer - yes. No matter what you’ve heard, ingredients do matter in one way or another. BUT just because something is “natural” doesn’t mean it’s good for you and vice versa; if something contains an ingredient like alcohol or a “chemical” it doesn’t mean it’s terrible for you (nearly every ingredient is some form of a chemical, they’re not all bad or harmful). Think about the dose, think about how it’s preserved, think about what it’s uses are, how in interacts with other ingredients, if your skin is sensitive to said ingredient, etc. This is where educating yourself really comes into play and it is something I am still learning to do. No matter who you ask, they will have an opinion (sometimes a very strong one) on ingredients in beauty products. I am all for everyone forming their own opinions and staying true to what they believe in. You may choose to believe that clean beauty is simply a marketing tactic used by brands to sell products and that people who believe in clean beauty are naïve or brainwashed; you may believe just the opposite. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but please remember it’s just that - your opinion. Share with others, join the conversation; we all have a right to believe however we choose and learning from each other is all part of the experience :) #CherieConversations

Farmacy Sleep Tight - Must have Clean Beauty!
Farmacy Sleep Tight - Must have Clean Beauty!
Awhile ago, I was generously gifted some of Farmacy’s best-selling products and I can tell you with 100% honesty that I have been beyond impressed with them.⁣ ⁣ This product is by far the standout for me and I legit look forward to using it every night. I’ll tell you all about it below👇🏻⁣ ⁣ “Get your beauty sleep with this lightweight balm that works its magic overnight! This solid balm melts into a dreamy oil-gel that quickly absorbs into the skin to lift, firm and fight the signs of aging. Wake up to beautifully revived, hydrated skin.”⁣ ⁣ • Fights the signs of aging (w/ plant-based retinoids)⁣ • Nourishes & Protects (to reinforce the skin’s barrier)⁣ • Gets you glowing (w/ vitamin c + cichoric acid)⁣ ⁣ I love the smell, I love the texture, and I love waking up with visibly smoother + brighter skin (not kidding folks, it really works).⁣ #CherieConversations

Clean Living - trend or true?!
Clean Living - trend or true?!
So I’ll start out by saying I am NOT an expert on any of this, but just here to share my thoughts and tips on living a healthy lifestyle. With clean beauty being such a hot button topic lately, it’s only stands to reason that we are hearing more and more about clean living. The very first clean swap I ever made was deodorant and it went from that to skincare to body care to household products and (a little more slowly) to makeup. I have learned how important it is to read ingredient labels on food and beverages over the years and to steer clear of ingredient lists that take up half the box or have things listed that I can’t even say let alone know what it is. So why would I not do the same for any other products I am consuming either directly or indirectly? Honestly, I do not live a 100% clean lifestyle; I still eat fast food from time to time and use makeup products that contain less than desirable ingredients, but I do my research and consider myself knowledgeable on the products and food that I am using and consuming. My advice is to not let the media, or anyone for that matter, scare you into thinking you HAVE TO purchase certain products or do certain things in order to be healthy. Do your research, figure out what works best for you, and go from there. Being “healthy” is about more than just the food we are eating or the products we are using; we must also consider our mental health and actively work on it. That is a big one for me and the past year has taught me more than ever that my mental health affects my overall health more than I ever would have realized. There are so many pieces of the puzzle to consider when talking about a clean lifestyle and I hope you take the time to discover each piece and find out what works best for you - that’s what I am working on every day! #CherieConversations

Clean Beauty - love it or hate it?!
Clean Beauty - love it or hate it?!
I started paying closer attention to the ingredients in my makeup and skincare about a year ago because it seemed to be such a topic of discussion in the beauty world. I would consider myself someone who likes to know and research things and that’s basically what happened when it came to clean beauty. Some companies use scare tactics to try and sell their clean & non-toxic products by telling you that the ingredients in their competitors products may cause cancer along with many other ailments and diseases. I for one do not like to be scared into anything, I would much prefer to educate myself on what's safe and what isn't and use products with ingredients that I can understand and recognize. You may not know this (I sure didn't) but there is very little government regulation when it comes to the cosmetic industry; the average woman uses up to 12 products per day containing more than 160 unique ingredients, many of which contain endocrine disrupters which can affect hormonal balance and fertility.
We are exposed to so many chemicals each day that we have little to no control over - car exhaust, pesticides, plastics, and many more environmental factors. Cosmetics and personal care items are things that we can and should take control of; that doesn't necessarily mean that choosing something that is "organic" or "natural" is the answer though unfortunately. In order to choose safer products it means you have to find companies that are transparent with their ingredients and committed to the safety testing of their products (thankfully, there are more and more companies taking on this initiative). SO long story short, I love clean beauty - as long as the company is genuine and transparent in their ingredients, sourcing, and marketing. It’s become somewhat of a marketing tactic to slap a “clean” label on products lately just to make a sale and to me, that’s not what it’s about; it’s about brands genuinely caring about their consumers and wanting to be better for them. #CherieConversations

Favourite Fragrance Line
Favourite Fragrance Line
These adorable little apples have been some of my favourite fragrances for years now! I have purchased almost every limited edition and addition to this line because I just love them so much! They are sweet without being too sugary or gross smelling and smell young but also somehow grown up? I am very scent sensitive and these have never given me a headache whatsoever which is something really important to me when picking a perfume. I honestly don’t even know if these are still being made... but I’m glad I still have 3 in my collection!!

Favourite Clean Fragrance - Skylar Isle
This fragrance is beautifully beachy and fresh and is exactly the type of fragrance I gravitate towards in the warmer months! It’s light but warm and isn’t heavy or overpowering. Skylar fragrances are made from 100% clean ingredients so again, it’s a product you can feel good about putting on your skin. *gifted by brand but thoughts are my own

Favourite Brushes- Real Techniques Blush Brush
I’ve raved about this brush so much, my friend @beautyblogbystef influenced me to pick it up about a month ago! It’s sooo soft and fluffy, I’ve been using it to apply my bronzer and love that it picks up a good amount of product but doesn’t pack it onto my skin. It does such a good job and is overall such a high quality brush but affordable - I’d definitely recommend picking it up!

A skin filter in the form of a concealer!
📌My skin type: Dry/ Combination 📌Product information: Charlotte Tilbury Concealer 📌Product texture: light-medium cream consistency 📌My Experience: Thighs concealer is like a filter for your under-eyes. Medium to build-able coverage. Does not cling on to pores and does not emphasize skin texture. I love how light weight it is. I definitely prep y under-eyes before application. It lasts all day and night long. I have always received compliments everytime I have put on this concealer. A huge Charlote Tilbury fan always. 📌Like/ Dislike: LOVE 📌Would I recommend it? YES 📌Rating of the product: 5/5
