Battle of the *untinted* SPFs
If any of you have read my skincare journey post (shameless plug!) you know that my relationship with SPF is fairly new. Since understanding the importance of SPF, I’ve been on the lookout for sunscreens that don’t irritate my sensitive skin. As much as I would love to try all the popular sunscreens out there, my wallet can’t allow it; so I combed through reviews here and on YouTube for products to try and ended up with eltaMD UV clear broad-spectrum SPF 46 and Centalla Green Level Unscented Sun SPF 50+PA++++ For context, I have fair, sensitive, acne-prone skin that gets oily on the T-zone (nose especially!). I also have a lot of redness. Like…..my skin gets red after I wash my face, after putting on moisturizer, just literally any time I touch it. I used the three-finger rule when applying both (this is about two full pumps for the eltaMD spf) and applied a few minutes after washing my face with water in the morning. No makeup! Overall, these are both great! 5/5 stars from me. So this isn’t so much a ‘battle’ as it was a peaceful meeting between two parties that ended with pastries and tea. That being said, there are some instances when I would use one over the other. PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ I bought this after Hyram raved about it on his YT channel. Like the name suggests it does have a slight green tint to it, but nothing noticeable once applied to the skin. This one is doesn’t go on white and is super moisturizing and feels nice on the skin, but I noticed my face started to get pretty oily after about ~5 hours of use. I prefer to use it on days when my skin is feeling a little extra dry (usually the morning after curology or an exfoliating mask). elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 This claims to calm and protect acne-prone skin and contains 5% niacinamide. This goes on white but I find that it blends into my skin really nicely. Thanks to the niacinamide it really reduces my redness and the appearance of my crater pores, but can be a bit drying (also probs because of the niacinamide). Holds up pretty well throughout the day, I don’t notice my skin getting overly oily. I tend to use this one if I didn’t use any drying products the night before and when I’m breaking out. Really does wonders for my self-esteem, lol. What are your favorite sunscreens? Also a special thank you to everyone who has cheered me on since joining Cherie! I just found out I was on the Rising Star board and that’s one of the most exciting things to ever happen to me 😂😂 I’ve really enjoyed writing about the products I’ve tried and reading about the products I’m curious about!

Not worth the $$$
The one thing my nose and the moon have in common are that they both have giant holes in them. Oh! They’re both shiny. I dream about one day waking up with glassy, poreless skin; but alas that may never be. I feel like I’ve tried everything to unclog my pores and get my pores looking less like craters. What is ‘everything’ you ask? Biore Pore Strips TO’s Glycolic acid toner, Niacinamide, and Azelaic Acid DE’s TLC Framboos Who knows how many clean & clear and Neturogena toners PC’s BHA toner A pore vacuum I bought off Amazon Ok….maybe not everything, but that’s a lot, no? I decided to try Peace Out Pores after watching heyitsfeiii’s YT video. I’m a huge dr. pimple popper fan so I was excited to see all the gross gunk that would end up on the pore strip after 5 hrs of use. Not only was I left extremely unsatisfied, the pore strip also ripped off a small patch of skin in my nose crevice ): Not large enough to be noticeable to anyone standing more than 4ft away from me, but still!!!! I mean, it looks like it must’ve pulled something out but I can’t really tell the difference between the before and after other than the noticeable redness. Can you? Final thoughts: It’s a no for me dawg. I’ve only used two pore strips so far and have seen lackluster results both times. I won’t be reaching for it again anytime soon, but I spent that $$$ so I’ll at least finish the box. Probably not for sensitive skin. TBH I can’t believe it was able to rip some skin off. I have used pore strips that seemed to be SO much sticker and that’s never happened. Might just be something I did, but still...you’ve been warned! What do you think? Am I just using these wrong? I mean LOOK at the photos of my nose (left image is before, top eight is after). Does that not look like something just begging to be decongested? Best collagen supplement!
I was a huge skeptic when it came to beauty supplements, but one day my esthetician, Christina, and I were chatting and she mentioned that she took probiotics and collagen pills every day. I looked at her flawless skin and thought “why the hell not?” She recommended a specific brand (that I can’t remember) but they only had chewables which I’m not a fan of, so instead I scoured Amazon for collagen supplements that had both hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C (a must according to Christina) and found these multi-collagen capsules by Vitauthority: 90 capsules for $19.99 and 180 capsules for $34.99 (much cheaper than HUMs 90 for $40). I finished my first bottle about 6 months ago and had a great experience with it, but didn’t realize just how much they did for my skin until I stopped taking them. I had gone a few months without taking the supplements and my skin wasn’t bad (at least not bad for me), but it was....meh. It looked dull, less vibrant and my texture was *a lot*. It occurred to me that I should give the supplements a second go and WOW 🤩. The difference was night and day. The morning after taking the supplements, my face was plump, less red, and I had that “glow from within” glow. These supplements are now a permanent staple in my skincare routine. Dosage: the bottle recommends 3 pills/day, but says you can take 6 to enhance the results, so that’s what I’ve been doing. FYI - if you have a hard time swallowing pills, these might not be for you. They’re rather large (check photo for reference), but vitauthority also sells a powder version so that’s a great alternative. Vitauthority - Multi Collagen Pills with Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin C

Promising Lash Serum for fuller lashes
Two things in this world that I can't live without: my skincare and my mascara. I'll say it straight - I'm a water-proof mascara kind of girl and have been since the day I realized that only a WP mascara could complete the task of holding my long but pin-straight lashes in a curl all day long. As I'm sure you know WP mascara is a TOUGH bitch to remove. So after nearly a decade of rubbing my eyes with makeup remover every night, my lashes finally turned on me. I was seeing bald spots on my lash line, my lashes were dry AF and seemed shorter than they used to be. I wasn't able to afford Latisse so I started looking into cheaper OTC brands that would give me similar results. I finally landed on Grande Lash MD. Instant gratification is not a thing with lash serums, but after a little over a month every-day use I am glad I stuck with it. I don’t think it’s done much for the overall length of my lashes, but my bald spots are filling in and I'm even noticing the lashes in the corner of my eye curling up a bit! Experience with application: I do a few swipes (but one dip) on each lash line every night about ~5 mins after I’ve applied my last skincare product. I have sensitive eyes. The first few days of use I noticed that my eyelids were a bit red and puffy, but about a week into it that stopped happening and I haven’t had issues since! What are your favorite lash serums? Keeping my pin straight lashes curled ALL DAY
I've been ~blessed~ with long (but straight) lashes and am ALWAYS on the hunt for new mascaras to help hold a curl. I'm nearly 100% certain that water-proof mascara is the only thing that will do the trick so that's typically what I stick to; although, if you know something I don't pls pls pls send that secret my way. Too Faced's Better Than Sex WP mascara was my go-to for a really long time, but about a year ago I heard that Loreal's Lash Paradise was a comparable dupe so that's what I've been using ever since. That being said, i'm a sucker for trying new products and while I love how this makes me lashes look, I'm looking for any recommendation for WP mascaras that: 1. Resist Clumping 2. Don't over-dry lashes 3. Will not require the soul of my first-born child to be removed L'ORÉAL - Voluminous Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara

My holy grails: acne-prone, red, textured skin
My skin isn't "good". I've struggled with clogged pores and acne all my life. These are the products I've been using and loving these past few months. Disclaimer: I work for Stratia, but all Stratia products included in this list are *TRULY* my faves from other products I've tried throughout the years Cleanser: Beauty Strike Oil Cleanser - I haven't used very many oil cleansers so I can't compare this to other oil cleansers in the market, but it does the trick for my skin. It does have a fragrance ingredient, but as this is a wash-off product I haven't noticed any irritation. Bonus: Beauty Strike is a black, woman-owned company from Brooklyn NY. stratia - Velvet Cleansing Milk The best experience with a non-foaming cleanser I've ever had. I have oilier skin so I'm usually a fan of foaming cleansers, but I got a free bottle of VCM when I started working at Stratia and decided to give it a shot. I used Cetaphil before, & ended up over-rubbing my skin to compensate for the lack of foam. Velvet Cleansing Milk is the only NF cleanser I've used that's actually made me feel clean! stratia - C+C Serum This Vitamin C serum uses silicone instead of oil as a vehicle which I personally prefer. My face stung in a few places my first time using it, but it's not a problem anymore. My skin is visibly brighter PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I bought this specifically for the blackheads on my nose. I can't say I've noticed much of a difference there, but this has helped SO MUCH with my bacne. Curology - Curology formula (0.018% Tretinoin, 8% Azelaic Acid, 1% Clindamycin - This is a newer addition to my routine, but 1 week in an my active pimples have all dried up and I haven't had a new breakout since. stratia - Rewind anti-aging dame essence Took some time to show visible results, but it was a great hydrating step to add to my routine in the meantime. About a month in I noticed that the fine lines on my forehead were less noticeable and my skin overall just felt firmer. stratia - Liquid Gold - The moisturizer that I will be using for the rest of my life! I didn't realize my moisture barrier was damaged before using liquid gold, but since using it, my skin is less irritated when I use actives and overall has a healthy glow. If you try anything on this list of product, TRY THIS ONE. elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 - I ve been using this SPF since march and it's definitely a favorite of mine. I've heard some people say that it pills under makeup but that hasn't been a problem for me. It's not tinted, but my redness is visibly reduced when I use it. Maybe it's the niacinamide? The one thing I'll say is that since I've started Curology, it feels a bit dry on my face.
I have always suffered from redness. I have both pale and sensitive skin so most products create redness for me. For the most of my life (literally until a few months ago) I was using foundation to cover my redness. Thankfully I learned about color correcting. By using a green tinted solution the redness in my skin is cancelled out when reflected by light. So far I have tried one color correcting product ( @drjart camp drops reviewed previously). While it did take down my redness I was hoping for a more affordable option. @devsday to the rescue with her @Indeedlabs nano blur color corrector recommendation. Not only does it take care of my redness, but it feels much lighter on my skin (borderline weightless), and is nearly a third of the price ($16.99 for 30ml). Comparing the two formulas, I prefer the powdery velvet finish of @indeedlabs vs the more oily dewy feel of @drjart . This formula is also very soothing to my skin, a huge thing for me sine I’m sensitive to random things. This formula also comes in colour-neutralizing shades purple, peach, and yellow. Customize, combine and spot treat as needed according to your skin and areas of concern.
