Make-up Battle: Drugstore vs Counter Foundation for Combination Skin!
❣️Background For someone with combination skin, if I can avoid foundations, I probably would. Unfortunately, some occasions still call for a fuller foundation coverage, and I have exprimented with a few brands that work for me without clogging pores. ❣️Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation – 1 oz 🔍Lightweight? Yes, it is a silky and fluid foundation that glides across my face easily 🔍Mattify? If you are looking for a foundation that controls your T-zone, this may not be the best choice for you. As it is a very light foundation, it may melt off pretty easily, especially in warmer months. However, I find that layering some loose powder over the foundaton helps with staying power. 🔍Give natural-looking coverage? Yup, with about 40 shades in this series, you can find the closest shade that will “fit you”. With its reasonable price, you can also mix and match two colors to find one that best suits you, especially when seasons transition. 🔍Easy to remove? Pretty much so! I use Micellar Water as a gentle makeup remover at night to make sure it is removed completely before I moisurize. 🔍USD5.39 on Target ❣️Diorskin Forever Undercover Foundation – 1.2 oz Pictured here is a smaller tester version 🔍Lightweight? Water-based foundation that feels ultra-silky and weightless on my skin throughout the day 🔍Mattify? It stays on my face throughout the day and leaves my face looking fresh and glowy, even until the end of the day. A light powder touch-up on my face before I leave for my evening date usually sufficies. A little goes on a long way. For more casual looks, I apply sparingly on my face, especially on my problem areas. 🔍Give natural-looking coverage? The foundation is promoted to “offer the most extreme coverage in a Dior foundation yet.” Compared to other foundations I used, the luxurious texture provides more concealing power over my dark eye circles and darker areas around my mouth and under my nose. The results are natural and I find myself skipping the concealer. It is easy to pick your exact match with 24 shades in this series. 🔍Easy to remove? Compared to a drugstore foundation, I will need to use a more heavy-duty make-up remover and cleanser to ensure that the foundation is removed completely. As its richer formula provides more coverage, I am cool with a stricter cleansing process. 🔍USD52 on Sephora ❣️Conclusion: Maybelline has an edge for its lighter texture and value-for -money factor. If you prefer to experiment different make-up products, feel free to give this a go. If I were to pick one foundation to travel everywhere with, I would go with Dior’s for its heavier coverage and staying power.

I’ve been testing the products from my most recent sephora haul and have been loving a few standout products. diormakeup Diorskin Forever Foundation was love at first swipe! I’ve heard such amazing things about this product, but as everyone’s skin is different, I sometimes find foundation reviews to be somewhat misleading. This product, however, ended up being the foundation that dreams are made of. For reference, my skin is super dry and prone to redness. I would definitely recommend picking up a sample from Sephora and trying it for yourself. hourglasscosmetics can do no wrong! I picked up their Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick in Gold Flash, which is equally as amazing! This highlight applies like a cream and sets like a powder. It blends like a dream and gives the most beautiful “lit from within” glow or can be built up. Because I have dry, dehydrated skin, a good powder can be difficult to find. So many powders cling to dry patches or look too heavy on the skin, making my face look cakey. I found a gem in the Soft Focus Finishing Powder by iliabeauty. It melts into the skin and just disappears, giving a soft focus effect (just as the name suggests). I still love my glossier Wowder and the coverfx Perfect Setting Powder for winter, but Ilia’s powder is most certainly in my top 3 now. If anyone has a powder that they love for dry skin, I’d love to hear your recommendations.
My favorite foundation & concealer combo - Dior skin Forever Foundation & ysl beauty All Hours Concealer. I couldn’t resist this foundation after hearing so many rave reviews. I’m always nervous about matte foundations with my dry skin, but the Forever Foundation gives the most beautiful, velvety matte, airbrushed look to my skin. I rarely need touch ups when I wear it, nor does it get cakey or cling to dry patches. On the flip side, I hadn’t heard much about YSL’s All Hours Concealer, but I ordered it on a whim and am so glad that I did. It’s lightweight, medium to full coverage and has quickly become my concealer of choice. Side note - is anyone else obsessed with the clarisonic foundation brush? I really didn’t think I would love it as much as I do, because I generally prefer a beauty blender over a foundation brush, but this brush head attachment is genius!

My Makeup Journey - 1st satisfying full glam
I've been on a makeup journey for the past few months and I've been peaking in the last 2 weeks. I've become obsessed watching JuicyJas videos and buying lots of makeup! Some makeup was given to me from friends' ipsy bags, bought as Sephora with help from an associate (very beginning of journey) and a bulk was bought from Ulta, Walmart and Target based on reviews by JuicyJas and my own curiosity. This is my first really good, satisfying full glam look. I've had huge trouble with acne from one particular break out induced by stress about a month ago which really kickstarted my makeup experimentation. I used to wear barely anything but this breakout was super distracting and embarrassing as I am a scab picker and cannot leave things alone. My face has big red spots from picked scabs and dark scars. I have been doing this all my life and know they will go away and fade eventually. The skin finally almost healed. This whole look took about two hours which included my skin care routine, letting moisturizers and primers set, and washing sponges and cleaning brushes. As you can see I used a huge amount of products. They worked well to cover my acne and it was my first time doing a pink eyeshadow look. I loved it!! I only use a small amount of NARS foundation because it's pretty heavy which I don't like much but I do love adding a small amount over my troubled areas over my Maybelline foundation. I also used e.l.f. eyeliner tape to do the wing for the first time. It worked so well! I have been doing winged eyeliner for years and I'm still not very good at it so I was so happy to find out this product existed. I can do winged eyeliner but it takes much longer to get it just right without the tape. I'm excited for when I better at doing makeup and have less acne to cover up so I don't have to spend so much time getting ready but still get the same results. I am a very expressive person and would love to do full glam everyday! I love coordinating my eyes and lips with my outfits. I went to the movies with this look and wore a pastel pink beanie and pastel pink sneakers to match it. My next project is figuring out how to do my eyebrows!
Clinique Foundations Review- natural & dewy
How many foundations should we own? How many types of face coverage products are ideal to have? Simply, it depends on your lifestyle. I’m still a student so I like to keep it fairly subtle most days unless I’m going out/have a big event. For my everyday wear, I use a tinted suncreen that acts as a BB Cream (elta md) For those “bigger” days, I rely on 2 foundations depending on the event, and they’re both from Clinique because they keep it nice and dewy for me. CLINIQUE - Superbalanced Makeup Foundation This foundation has medium coverage that’s buildable. It has a light texture making it look natural and dewy- not caked up at all. Best of all, it does not accentuate my pores. Clinique Superbalanced was probably the first foundation I ever bought and I have tried many many other ones due to their hype but I ALWAYS keep coming back to this one. As I get older, I realize that it’s a timeless foundation at a great price point for what it offers. Anyone can resort to this foundation. I use this foundation when I want to look more put together than my everyday look. CLINIQUE - Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer Full coverage and thick but still leaves a natural, dewy finish to your skin without the cakey look/feel. Its top is attached to an angled wand but i choose to I apply the product with a damp beauty blender and it does wonders giving me smooth skin. Also, it does not clog your pores. A total win for me when it comes to full coverage foundations. I’ll admit, it does accentuate my fine lines but not a lot compared to other full coverage foundations. No break outs either! I use this foundation for big events like weddings, etc.

MY CONCEALER AWARDS
Best Finish Award: ESTĒE LAUDER - Double Wear Radiant Concealer If you’re looking for a concealer that has a soft radiant finish that isn’t too dewy or matte, this is the one! I love wearing this when I want to look like I almost have no makeup on and I use the shade 2W. It gives pretty good coverage and definitely still looks like skin! Best Coverage Award: MAKE UP FOR EVER - Full Cover Concealer Meet the concealer that I’ve been using for 6 years! I loooove this concealer for my breakouts and scars. This is seriously the highest coverage concealer I’ve ever tried! It covers literally anything and is waterproof! I use this only for pinpoint concealing- and shade 6 is my perfect skin match! Best Everyday Award: ARMANI beauty - Power Fabric Concealer This is such a great all-rounded concealer. I love the finish, the coverage and the lasting power of it. I use the shade 5.25 and it’s perfect for everyday use! It gives just enough coverage for me to perfect my skin and it also last pretty long! It works for under the eyes or all over the face for a thin veil to even out discoloration! Best Shade-range Award: FENTY BEAUTY - Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Concealer This concealer my perfect skin match when I’m at my palest- and it’s probably the palest shade I own! I love this concealer so much because there just so many shades to choose from that you’ll for sure be able to find a perfect match. The coverage is pretty high with this one but it still manages to look skin-like. I can tell I have makeup on when I’m wearing this- but not in a bad way! Just very perfecting. I use the shade 145. Best for Photo/Video Award: MAKE UP FOR EVER - Ultra HD Self-Setting Concealer This is my go-to concealer for photoshoots or events because it just looks so great for photo and video! I love that it never has flashback and it makes my skin look flawless in person and on screen! There are also so many shades to choose from. I love using this either just under my eyes or as a thin layer of foundation! It looks so natural but flawless. I use the shade 30!

ANOTHER GREAT SHADE MATCH 🙌🏼
We are going to be talking aboutL'ORÉAL - Infallible Fresh Wear 24HR Foundation I first heard TATI talk about this on her channel and she absolutely adored it so I knew that I needed to try it. It is a nice medium to low full coverage foundation that leaves a satin finish on the skin. Although how you prep and set this foundational play a big role in how this foundation ask for you. My preference is to prep with a hydrating base and a light dusting of powder to say I haven’t worn it for 24 hours but I have worn it for 15 hours. Bring those 15 hours I didn’t really notice many issues one thing that did happen happens with every single foundation I own. And that is that they settle into my fine lines at some point during the day. I did like this one though because it didn’t overexaggerate them and I could usually take my finger and just tap the foundation in to give me the appearances if I just applied it. I think this is a good option for a wide righty of people because you can share it or build it up you can also manipulate the formula to be more Matt or Chloe one other thing that I did want to know is that this does contain fragrance. So depending on who you are that might be a dealbreaker for you but if not I think this is worth a try.

The $12 foundation stick that you won’t regret!
Most people nowadays tend to opt for a liquid foundation and ‘stick to what they know’. I have been using Too Faced Born this way foundation for a number of years now but feel ready for a change as it can be quite heavy on the skin and comes with a hefty price tag. I’d heard so much about Makeup Revolution’s makeup ‘stick’ so had to test it out - for $12 how could I not? REVOLUTION - Fast Base Stick Foundation This fast base foundation quickly perfects, contours and highlights your complexion. It has an easy-to-apply stick formula that melts into skin, blending seamlessly to leave a fresh and dewy finish. All you need to do is twist up, swipe on and blend out with your fingers, a beauty sponge or a foundation brush for a demi-matte finish. I use a beauty blender and really love its lightweight yet buildable coverage. This foundation is so versatile and can be easily carried with you for top up on the go. I really love that it doesn't settle into fine lines or cling to dry patches. Too Faced - Born This Way Natural Finish Foundation This oil-free foundation delivers medium-to-full coverage with a perfect finish for a naturally flawless makeup look. The foundation definitely creates an even skin tone when applied and does replenish moisture with the coconut water infused but I can sometimes over-hydrate my face and I can end up looking greasy/too dewy! I find myself applying powder a number of times a day to ensure this doesn't happen I honestly am converted to the Makeup Revolution beauty stick for a number of reasons; the price, the long-lasting abilities, the ease of application and the ease of transporting around in my makeup bag.
Too Faced-Born This Way Natural Finish Foundation
This is a great foundation at an amazing price. I feel like it is more of a skin like finish than glowy. I have dry skin and I use an Illuminating primer underneath. It does need to be smoothed out more on the upper lip of mine and may accentuate my forehead lines a little by the end of the day, it other then that it’s good. Very natural!

Cover-girl Clean Foundation Review
I have always had a special place in my heart for this foundation if I’m speaking honestly. Back when I was in cosmetology school, and we were given our SICKENING Makeup Forever kits, I was SO excited to start playing even though I had literally -12 makeup knowledge. So after wasting a full bottle of the MAKE UP FOR EVER - Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation I needed to find something more cost effective that still gave the amazing results that foundation did! I remember my mom used to use the Cover-girl Sensitive Line, and the smell of that foundation was my childhood! I loved watching my mom put it on in the morning, because it meant she would feel her most beautiful 😇 I figured since I had oily skin, ALL my base products had to have matte finish, and I’d never get glowy, dewy skin like the girls on Instagram! I’d have to just highlight later and hope for the best. Since school, I have opened my eyes to a wide variety of drugstore foundations, (Be ready for reviews on them later!) and after discovering MAYBELLINE - Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation and wet n wild - Photofocus Liquid Matte Foundation I all but forgot about it! But as of lately, my makeup budget is TIGHT and I really needed new foundation like yesterday! Cue Cover-girl Foundation in Clean. I’ve grown out of matte finishes, I find they are too limiting when you place products on top of them, because even if you have a GORGEOUS shimmery blush, the shimmer seems dull because of the matte base it’s adhering to. I tried this stuff for the first time yesterday and I was pretty impressed, honestly! It blends kind of strangely but I’m also a blending ADDICT so it doesn’t bother me TOO much, but for someone who needs efficiency it might go downhill for you. It does apply well with fingers but a little goes a LONG way so be careful, sponge girls! And can we talk about the smell?? It smells almost like a medicated cleanser??? And it has a slight drying effect on the skin, but it doesn’t really finish matte. It’s medium/buildable coverage doesn’t appear heavy, and it sets BEAUTIFULLY under powder! I’d recommend using a stick concealer with it though, as it is rather liquidy. Overall, this foundation is SUPER good for the price, I’m actually shocked I can find any foundation under even $15 these days! It shall hold me over for now until I get my photo focus back by wet n wild and I can be a satin dream like I’ve always wanted!
